Anyone else think that oda is making a casethat much of sanji's mannerisms, smoking at a young age to look manly, his strict code of honor, and general attitude has been shaped by him feeling worthless not up to the standards of his father's manliness, at least subsconsiously. Not to get to too psychologist here but I think oda, for all his problems, might be addressing the toxic sode of masculinity and after this arc he will recieve a tone down of his quirks relating to his sometimes overbearing sense of manliness.
Excited if oda takes it this course of action. Anyone else see this, is this crazy or crazy obvious?

Sort of.
From what I recall Kaku's gimmick is that he talks like a old man.
Which would be possible to express in English obviously, but I don't think the ways of doing that would work very well.
I guess kind of imagine that Kaku would say things like "Whippersnapper"??

There are two things to never hope for in One Piece.
1. Oda killing present day characters outside of extremely special circumstances.
2. Sanji breaking his dumb chivalry code.

Its not him completely breaking it, nami left her village but still loves money. Out of all strawhat quirks sanji's seems to tie the most into his personality. Im talking more about a more at easeness of sanji, nothing huge just him losing some of the harshness and manliness he still keeps around , sort of like a bit of a shield. Not even really talking about him kicking women or whatever but sanji's propensity to be an ass spmetimes. I dont know maybe that wont change its not like he is a dick, but there's gotten be more of a message than " Im stronger now" when he beats his father or one of his siblings, since his dad's whole idea is might is right.
I got sucked in the chapter thread's back and forth that I forgot, the actual reason I get upset about Sanji vs Kalifa is this:

It is not the hitting, and bla bla bla, the imbecile was drinking tea with her. If you want to excuse him even of that, "it was supposed to be funny", Curly-bro was just told by Robin that she wants to live and go back to sea. He knew she sold herself off, for them. And you are drinking TEA? Jokes aside, priorities after that, seeing him be all love struck with Robin-chwan, seemed off, awkward. The latest chapter made me understand his actions, I find it an acceptable answer, though I would still slap him for it.
@Don:
While i think that Lucci is a damn fitting choice for the CP0, even after his defeat to Luffy, that also steals any threat from this organization.
Granted there are sure new faces in the CP0 who could be dangerous, but Lucci will never be a face to face opponent for Luffy again.
So the CP0 might be good to cause some havoc and problems, but as real obstacles fighting wise i can´t see them play a role.
Well, Lucci was in many ways stronger than Luffy at the time of his defeat. Not to mention that, if we ever see former CP9 fight again, they are going to be a lot stronger. I wouldn't really mind seeing their Rokushiki techniques empowered with Haki. Love or hate EL arc, I really enjoyed those fights.

It's just a character flaw.
Most of the strawhats have at least one that causes unnecessary drama. Luffy's a dumbass, Usopp's a coward, Nami's greedy, Zoro's lazy/also a dumbass. Sanji's whole deal with women is his character flaw.

The main cast will progress faster in their journey to conquer the NW, so even with upgraded CP9ers, they won´t come close to the new strenght of the SHs.
With Lucci being in the CP0 suggest us readers what they are capable of doing, remembering Lucci´s dangerous behavior.

If anything I think it hints at them being in a more Smoker ally role than an actual villain. Obviously I don't think that they will be as 'friendly' but I could see them inadvertently helping the SH out. Law might manipulate them into a position where both sides get a win and they will just leave or something. Would be really interesting to see Zoro or Sanji clash with Lucci and show him that they are on his level or something.
Awhile back there was that really long theory that was very likely fake but in it it had a situation that Luffy and Law get taken by the marines after they defeat Kaido. Maybe the people who would bring them in would be CP-0. I don't think that will happen but its a possibility however magnificently slim.

I think oda wanted to keep things light
For example chopper giving franky random drinks, usopp and zoro running in handcuffs. Some of them worked better than others. I think oda tried using all pf sanji's different parts of his character and it came off as tonally conflicting

The best part of character development is seeing them overcome their flaws. Zoro's lazy? Not sure where that came from. We have seen Nami and Ussop overcome their flaws. Also the only time Ussop's cowardice almost jeopardized his crew mates was during Dressrosa. An event that GOD cleaned up himself. I do not want to argue the validity of how he accomplished his mission. It is out of the scope of the argument. However, if Sanji's tea moment can be brushed off, why make special conditions for this event.

That is an attractive element of One Piece, how comedy and tension are combined. However, Chopper's case cannot be compared. He did not know Franky, he just tossed the first thing he got. The second time he might have not believed Franky was being serious or just a whim. I guess my issues was that I did not find it funny.

The main protagonists will always be the ones with the most rapid improvement, otherwise they wouldn´t reach the top in the end.
Lucci was a trained killer from the WG already 10 years more experienced than Luffy.
Now he might have trained a lot over the TS, but so did Luffy and he is going to take on yonkous, no way an already defeated villain could progress to such a strenght.
Even if so, what is the point in having a second battle, when the first one already cleared the fronts.
Why all this build up with water7, when we now get a rematch, where everything is open again…why even bother seeing Lucci again, when we have a story full of more hyped stronger characters just waiting for their confrontation with the SHs?

Seeing as they managed to find Baltigo, albeit after Blackbeard did, I would imagine CP0 would be the villains for the arc where Luffy meets more of the Revolutionaries/Dragon.

He's definitely a heavy sleeper when there's not someone with ill intent around.
I'd probably sleep heavy if I worked out and drank booze most of the day too.
Since I just got irked on how Doflamingo's ability seems to be, in my opinion…
It would be cool if being able to switch place with his clone similar on how Moria's doppleman works.
the difference is that, Doflamingo and his clones are connected by string. Works like a string phone.
too bad... Doflamingo's already wrecked. Lole.
I didn't realize it before…But it looks like Scarlet was the one that Kyros his complex about touching people. She's calling him a murderer and to not touch. http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/742/6
Although I wonder if that's the same in Viz's translation.
Also Riku was wrong about the public's opinion on their relationship from the start lol. Also Scarlet is a brat. Reading Dressrosa in large chunks makes it much better.
So far we know about 8 poneglyphs. (Alabasta,Skypia,FI,Zou,BM3x,Kaidou)
Leaves us with 22 more to be discovered.
Robin for sure took notes on those she encountered over the years and recently.
I would assume Pedro also has seen more than a few, so when Wano is over, we might get a gathering of all the information all those poneglyphs had so far, especially tracking the infos of the rioponeglyph-stones, which Robin has as her goal.
So i hope we get at this point a big update on the whole lost history and maybe their journey after Wano will lead them to a location known to have an rioponeglyph-stone.

There was also a Poneglyph in Ohara.
I just bought the full manga set vol 1-79. Something's you catch easier by reading the series through instead of chapter by chapter over the span of 3years haha.
Anyway the point: I just noticed Law is the Heart pirates because he Diamante was diamond, Pica was spades and Trebol was clubs.
Yea yea y'all probably knew that. But fine, the other cool point is you pick up a lot after a reread of the series through in one sitting.
Happy One Piece reading y'all!

Only 13 of them are needed, it's not necessary to find them all.

And the useless one in the alabasta filler could also be used, why not.

They won´t be finding all 30 anyways, i assume the SH grand fleet could bring in some poneglyph information over the course of the story.
It came to me that Blackbeard probably knew Oden from back in their Whitebeard days.
Another reason Blackbeard might show up in Wano is if he had a similar train of thought as to extract information from the previous Roger Pirates.
@Tamiel:

I was already on board for Shiryu showing up in Wano Country by possibly originating from there due to his epithet "Shiryu of the Rain" sounding similar to "Raizou of the Mist". As well as the fact that I can't see the Blackbeard Pirates sitting out on another Dressrosa-length arc. Teach being familiar with Oden would actually be really cool and go along with his penchant for researching history that Oda mentioned in an SBS and inevitably coming to blows with Shanks (which might be about Teach confronting him for secrets about Raftel or something). What also helps your theory is how Marco is being brought into the fold by Nekomamushi (who in turn is directly linked to Oden) and his character post-timeskip being heavily connected to Blackbeard's rise in power. Meaning that Blackbeard should be relevant in some capacity with all of these familiar players gathering for a Yonko upheaval.
The rumored Vegapunk centric arc could be after Wano, in between with Elbaf. His character has been slowly exposed with to us, and after the timeskip it has only increased. With Ceasar, we discovered SMILE and the artificial devil fruits. However, if we compare Smile and Momo's fruit, we have yet to see the extent of the former, but considering how different their power is represented in comparison to previous Zoan users, it appears that Smile users cannot achieve a full Zoan transformation. However, that will be answered when we see them in Wano.
Then we get Judge, a previous colleague, probably a tier above Ceasar. With Judge we discover human cloning is achievable. However, if Vegapunk is another tier above Judge, not saying he is but considering what we know of Vegapunk, he seems to be unique in the science department. However, if Judge is able to carry the cloning experiment, have we already been exposed to Vegapunk's ~product~? Are Pacifistas clones? And if so, how would that affect the story moving forward?
I always did think that Pacifistas were cyborg Kuma clones, half-machine and half-human (the reason why they bleed red blood). But I always pondered on how Vegapunk was able to create Kuma clones in the first place. Then Judge and his human clones come in the scene and brought up that they were partners in science once upon a time and it took me back to the Pacifistas being copies. Basically, what I'm saying is that I think that the Kuma copies are a by-product of human cloning. As for why he created them for the Marines and WG, that's what I wanna know. Although, another part of me also wants to know how can he make weapons eat DFs.
Just stumbled upon a Weevil Discussion video. And am I the only one who really doesn't care for the guy? He has no place in the show (at least not now) as an ally or as a villain… I still hope, he's just their to be fodder for either Smoker or Kid or whoever to give them a kill and show us how powerful they are... That way he'd at least serve a purpose I could understand.
I think he's fine, considering he's made of rejected parts of other characters.
He most likely has a role to play (a fight to lose) before Wano. He announced he's after WB pirates then he went missing from the pages. Considering SH are supposed to be getting some WBP remnants before Wano, it would make sense that Weevil is met before it as well. Or during, I don't know.
Weevil is just a shadow puppet made by Moria's awakening.

Not being really fair, are you? You can't expect to know the full purpose of a character when all you've seen is their business card.
We've seen him once in a scene made just to show us that he exists and that we should expect him to play a role in the future.
Not much different than when Sakazuki appeared in Robin's flashback before he became Admiral Akainu or when Shanks went to visit Whitebeard and exhanged a couple of words with Marco just to tell us he's strong.
The main diference here is that Weevil's appearence was a bit more substancial (since the scene focuses only on him) and raised a couple more eyebrows.
He's said to be as strong as a young Whitebeard and implied to be his actual son. That "biological son" part alone is more than enough to create intrigue and mistery, even if it's probably silly intrigue. And his naive/dumb nature mixed with his mother selfish nature makes him the probable joker card for the Wano arc, or an arc around that one.
I'm not trying to be a Weevil fanboy, we haven't seen enough of him, but from what we know he will tip the scale to whatever side he ends up and how he's going to end up on that side will probably be a fun story.
I wasn't very intrigued by Weevil either. I guess really dumb brutes can never be that intriguing. His fighting style might still be cool, so I'll give him a chance once he's shown in a fight.

…

Yeah. I'm probably unfair. I have to admit, the further the story progresses the more difficult it is for me to be really interested in newly introduced characters. Especially when they don't have much going for them to intrigue me, and as troglodyted pointed out, so far he doesn't show much - aside from dumb brutality. The think is, I'd also much rather see a known character tip the scale against Kaidou, than someone I don't know. His whole introduction just seemed odd to me.
Especially as a Shichibukai because I really think we're past the point were shichibukais are major villains. So I can't see him as a villain, but as I said, if he's introduced to be an ally, I'd much rather have a known character… I just don't care for him.
On the other hand, I very much care for Kidd, so I think it would be great for him (or Smoker) to get a chance to show they are still strong, since I think both of them have to finally proof, that they are not just remnants of what was once a rival to Luffy. And Weevil would be perfect. I very much think, that's not the road Oda wants to go - why else introduce him as Whitebeards 'son' if not to use him for something bigger... But as I said... I don't really care for him at the moment.
Jajaja can't believe this went over my head, chances that Pudding used her ability on Lola? That's why she thinks all is fine.
A quick notion:
Both Kuzan and Sakazuki have both killed a D carrier (Jaguar D. Saul and Portgas D. Ace). This makes especially Kuzan a more morally grey character (Saul seems to be btw on of the most forgotten characters of the series).
When Luffy takes Pekoms, put him on his back to go to Totland, Pekoms says: …"worst saviour ever", but in the anime he says: "you are the worst person to be indebted to" I just thought it was funny considering his crew.
Does anyone remember how Carrot and Wanda were introduced as members of the "Warrior Beast Tribe" in their Oda boxes yet a tribal system on Zou was never brought up again? Always makes me ponder a bit.

One tribe punches people and the other makes dragons.:ninja:
I wonder the reaction Vegapunk will have when he hears from the kids they were saved by the Strawhats. First, Kuma asked to ve prigrammed, then the kids are saved from Ceasar's experimentation. Had Franky not been sent to his homeland, I would be more inclined to see him travelling with the crew. Although, with him Shogun could attain a whole new transformation.
Is nami still drawing a map of the world like she said in chapter 99?
Is nami still drawing a map of the world like she said in chapter 99?
Yes, of course she is.
It has been obvious for a while now, but the 9-person Straw Hat crew, the team that has lasted for the longest (9 years now) was last seen together in one place (not counting color spreads, anime, etc.) in chapter 701 - 4 years ago, and it was their last meeting ever as a full crew. It feels weird when you think about it.
Super ultra short quick notion!!!:
God and Diamble are in the same crew, maybe in a close future, a wondrous teamwork would demolish something huge… that other deities fail to beat, like Sanji's phrase towards Marines.
Also, Usopp can put salad on the table and Sanji salt and pepper, Luffy would not like that dinner though xd
