This is beyond ridiculous.
Like, even for One Piece this felt really, really, really cartoonish.
But holy crap is this one of the funniest moments from the whole series as of yet.
Unfortunately a lot of things were glossed over off panel for Kyros though. I'm not very interested in the whole Family. Even know they all feel like stiff cardboard to me. Though Kyros probably is the most interesting one.
It's kinda cute how Barto is protecting Rebecca from Diamante.

To be fair, Bellmere was shot at point-blank range through the forehead, which I never seen another individual who was neither a Logia nor a Armament Haki user survive. Bullet shots through the head are almost always fatal.
Anywhere else on the body on the other hand…..

His weakness is that he doesn't let characters physically hurt women? Physical punishment is supposed to be promoted? You've got some weird world view.
His weakness is that he doesn't treat women equally at all. I'm a female reader, is it so wrong to want all villains to be treated the same? He never lets them get heavy physical injuries, at least not to the degree Franky and Usopp did in this chapter. Find me one picture of a girl with a lumpy, swollen face like that and I'll gladly admit I was wrong.

This is also an important point. Usopp's enemy was not only a female, but one that looks like a little girl. Oda couldn't show her getting brutalized. Well, he could, but people need to manage expectations.
He lets the kid versions of Luffy, Zoro and Sanji all get hurt pretty badly, and they didn't even deserve it. There's absolutely no good reason why Sugar couldn't have been the one to swallow that grape.

Ah ok, for some reason I thought she was shot in the chest. But regardless, against females people seem to have perfect aim lol. Why? Law's DF ability has nothing to do with toughness. He's a doctor primarily, and his ability is primarily about manipulating his enemies and environment while avoiding physical confrontation. There's no reason to assume he's even physically fit, at the very least it wouldn't be a necessity at all given how powerful his ability is.
Law is tougher because he's a man. Not because he has a DF. Same with every other guy in the series that gets beaten to high hell and comes out fine. The worst a woman has ever gotten it was Nami in the Doublefinger fight, but Oda basically made that the first and last time we had a no-nonsense fight between two attractive women.
The fact is that this is a manga being primarily marketed to young men. It's more beneficial to depict the women as frail (at least compared to their male counterparts) and maintain their sexy image. The moment you make a woman strong, the moment you humorously beat her up like the guys, that's the moment when she stops being an object to the readers. And that's all she needs to be for the product to sell.
Oda is a brilliant author, I'd never deny that. But that's exactly why it kills me that he, like so many authors who are inferior to him, can't get this right. It's not hard, just stop treating girls the way society teaches you girls should be taught. Simple!

This whole thing about Law not being physically strong is one big assumption. Whitebeard also had an ability that didn't require physical strength, but nobody says he wasn't a physical powerhouse.

I've been reading One Piece for over 10 years now, Usopp's always been my favorite mugiwara and Oda an idol. I've been defending Usopp till the very last chapter, but now… This is the most disappointed I've even been at One Piece. And till the Chinjao business, Dressrosa was turning into my favorite arc_._ I mean, the Kyros flashback was awesome, but Usopp's and Franky's bits were terrible enough to make this one of the worst chapters of the whole series. It doesn't make sense.
Longnose idiot. This is the most inconsistent Usopp's even been. People were complaining about his cowardice, but that part was right, wrong is him facing his enemies straight up. Fuck, his highlight during Punk Hazard was "i will take down any enemy showing their backs"… WHY WOULDN'T HE DO A SNEAK ATTACK? FUCK! I prefer him as a smart coward than a brave idiot. That's Luffy's role already. Let's face some facts:
#1: Trebol is flamable. Usopp had just seen it. And Trebol fucking said it! And he was obviously a Logia-type, his body is all dripping. Why wouldn't Usoland Firebird his ass??? Out of plain stupidity? Isn't he the strategic guy?
#2: Just cut the pacifist bullshit and kill Sugar already. Who cares if she looks like a child? They shouldn't even care if she really is one. She's a badass motherfucker, the main piece on a mass slavery/genocide business. And she's not being manipulated, she's shown to be a coldhearted bitch. So just aim the fucking shuriken at her! If he still wants to play childish games, just throw a fucking pepper into her mouth. He was introduced as a sniper who could use such things as spicy ammo… By the way, didn't he have SLEEPING GAS? He used on PH kids and they were huge. OH, and the dwarves used it on Usopp and Robin! Why suddenly they stopped using plants and decided that toothpicks were better weapons????
The stupid hair bastard. Guess what, people, he's supposed to be made of the same iron as Kuma and the Pacifistas (wapometal). It's a very hard metal, enough to injury pre-timeskip Sanji's leg and resist Zoro's iron-cutting technique. Alright, post-timeskip they can handle that easily, but that's haki. That would be suggesting that Doffy has experienced haki users below his top officers. While this is not absurd, it feels silly, it's like suggesting that Brook should be using it already too. Bastille wasn't on the scene, so I'll just believe the beating was done by Mr. Pink, Machvise and Dellinger. Still… Considering the hype, I don't think they would beat Trebol, Pica or Diamante even in a 3x1. And those fodder with bullets and sword are useless against Franky, they're there to distract him only, that's why I only consider the officers. That said, it's not impossible for them to beat Franky, but it looked kinda easy, specially considering a guy took a missile to the face. So at least show us how they did it, so we can believe. Well, now he'll probably do a Coup de Boo to escape. Any other thing would be ridiculous.
Oda. With all the flashbacks, you'd think he'd know that he can rewind time a little and do like "this is what was happening a few minutes ago". There, all problems are gone. Just do that and you can make all the parallel storylines without off-screening cool fights. You don't have to always move forward in time, go back and forth, put a fucking clock and we will understand what's going on. I don't even want to see Sanji's group at this point. They'll just be laying there crying "usoland pls" or whatever. Oda said on an early interview that he doesn't want the readers to be reminded of him. He wants them to think only about the characters and story. OK, so then stop playing stupid plot devices and make a consistent story!
I used to love the manga and criticize the anime, but today I can't. The anime is great! They're actually showing the B-block unseen fights. And showing their actual movements!!! I mean, they aren't screening the sky while someone yells "gasp!" like they usually do. There are hits, slices and actual blood. Too bad it'll all end once the mugiwaras start to battle, because they're "good guys" and cannot do this horrible things. Specially during peace and love season.
Well, it's out of my chest now… Sorry for all the curses, but I'd develop cancer if I had sucked it up.

I find it kinda strange that Kyros manages to stay undefeated for such a long time and then just loses to Doflamingos gang like this.
I guess you consider fighting fishmen underwater and Giants a big feat. Let's put things in perspective, Sanji had a cameo with a fishman underwater back in east blue and Luffy had brief moment with a giant all the way back in little garden. I'm not discrediting Kyros but people seem to take this 3000 unbeaten matches over the top.

Sorry if it has already been discussed to death.I think there is also the day and night thing, that as far as I know people have generally ignored. Toys have to go to the toy house at night (presumably because Sugar has to sleep?)… I think this is showing in her paint... toys that are happy in the day and cry at night

We thought that this was going to be a character-specific moment for Ussop and Ussop alone (like a particular technique or strategy that only he was capable of doing and thus rightfully earning the victory) and it flat out failed.
Ussop didn't earn this victory. He was conveniently bailed out of sudden death due to idiotic gag-based shenanigans he had no control or say over.
It's a Hollow victory. A win without meaning. There's no actual substance behind it, only vapid luck.

Those fake, plastic toy cockroaches that were crawling all over Perona? that was a deliberately planned attack by Ussop (the "Cockroach Star") same as his inflatable 10-Ton rubber Hammer (the "Ussop Golden Pound"). Again, both of those were clever techniques used to psychologically terrify Perona into unconsciousness. He was clearly outmatched by Perona's ghost abilities, but remained level-headed, thought the situation through, and had a clever strategy that matched his personality and capabilities to outwit her using various Halloween props. He had to prevail in that fight because, due to his overly pessimistic personality, he was the only Strawhat capable of facing Perona and staying immune to her negative ghosts. Should he have failed, Perona would have absolutely hunted down the rest of the crew and easily captured them. Zoro, Sanji, and Franky were all counting on him to succeed, and he did not let them down.
Here in Dressrosa? He spends the majority of his time in the underworld acting the coward (to the point of being frightened of useless Doflamingo underling fodder) and constantly planning to drop the dwarves like an ugly baby and leaving them to their fate while making a run for it if the plans goes south. When he actually does, he lays the blame for his cowardice squarely on Franky for giving him too difficult a task. When he finally mans up and returns to the dwarves aid, he gives him a much bravado-filled speech as to how he'll become - through hell or high water - the legendary hero they desperately need and prepares to face off against Trebol and Sugar. Cut to Ussop being absolutely mauled into unconsciousness without the slightest sign of physical damage or exhaustion on Trebol's part. Instead of simply turning their hero "Usoland" into a toy before the dwarves' eyes and further crushing their hopes into despair while simultaneously adding him to Doflamingo's workforce (a much more sadistic option) or instead of simply letting Trebol squash him, Sugar decides to plant the Tabasco-ball in Ussop's mouth and (she believes) poison him. What follows is Ussop's reaction to the spicy Tabasco and Sugar fainting. The key difference here is to remember that Ussop was beaten into literal unconsciousness. He had absolutely no control over his face-fault. It was not a strategy he had planned nor counted on. It was not even a clever ruse he improvised on the spot when he was backed into a corner by Trebol's strength. It was utterly and completely INCIDENTAL. A side-effect of Sugar's own meddling. Had Sugar not gave Ussop the Tabasco and merely thrown it away when she thought it was Poison, Ussop WOULD BE FUCKED. The Dwarves, Toys, Kyros, and Robin WOULD ALL BE FUCKED. In Dressrosa, far more individuals were counting on Ussop to succeed than back on Thriller Bark, and he completely let them all down. He lost miserably and was saved by random happenstance chance.

Did I expect Ussop to manhandle Trebol? No. Did I expect Ussop to cleverly use a new technique to KO Trebol? No.
What I did expect though is for Ussop to use his creativity and ingenuity to exploit Trebol's weaknesses. Remember a couple chapters back when Trebol told Leo that his sticky ooze is dangerously highly flammable? Yeah, I expected Ussop to capitalize on that. For all of Trebol's strength, perhaps being covered in FIRE and hit with a chain-reaction of explosions wouldn't have put him down for the count, but it would have momentarily preoccupied his limited attention span long enough for Ussop to legitimately defeat Sugar via a long-range distance slingshot attack. Thus Ussop actually deserving the victory and leaving Trebol for the newly-freed Coliseum gladiators to exact their sweet vengeance upon.

Whitebeard has a fruit who gives him an awesome punch. He still needs a tough body to endure the damage he takes.

It has been stated that Toys return to Toy house at night to work. Nothing to do with Sugar awake or asleep.

Come on, it wasn't that bad! I agree that Usopp was more of an idiot than usual, but he turned back at the last moment out of emotion. We can't expect him to make the right decision in the heat of the moment every time! As for Franky, I wish he could take on Dofla's whole crew, but let's be realistic. We've already seen him beat 2 officers at once. Now he's up against 3 or 4, plus the Marines. I'd say he's doing just fine.
I totally agree with you about the anime these days. The manga is feeling very hurried lately, with the anime used to fill in the fight scenes. This is somewhat unavoidable in that if he drew everyone's actual movements in each fight, we'd get nowhere fast. How many fights are happening right now? As readers for over 10 years now, I'm sure we both want to read the end before Oda's fingers fall off.

Let's see, Hiruluk, who had a terminal illness but was not bedridden, moved around fine, and went out on his own terms.
A 139 year old Doctor who knew exactly how to take care of her self and had a vast knowledge of all different types of medicine.
King Neptune with a crippling back, which is not an ILLNESS, who was fighting back, and who also was not bedridden.
All the convicts in Punk Hazard, who were all fighting the strawhats and anybody else who came to the island, who weren't frail.
Yeah, I think there's a major difference there buddy.

Hey, why are more people talking about the coolest thing about the chapter. Sugar is KOd and all the toys are going to turn back into humans (also those guys that probably did bring this up, you rock)! This…is....huge!
The possibilities are endless. We have a very pissed off and vengeful one-legged swordsman literally sitting outside Donflamingo's window. I was wondering what the hell those two guys who jobbed to Franky were doing--story wise--just sitting there, and now I think I know. Expect one of these guys to get cut very soon. We also have thousands of potential warriors. How will the island goers react? Can Donflamingo counter this? I can't remember the last time a protagonist has been so badly screwed over. Can his crew possibly handle this? Which side will the marines fight for?
Also, I realize that recently Sugar made the crew forget about a certain bird-nosed little lady named Robin. They wrecked a marine island, declared war on the world, and yet Sugar made all of them forget that. Does Sugar's second-hand victims remember their amnesia? I hope so, cause I imagine that everyone would be pissed off that this happened to them. I'm hoping that Oda explores this. Hell, how will everyone react to this mass memory restoration? I don't think you can even cover this in one chapter...

Instead of simply turning their hero "Usoland" into a toy before the dwarves' eyes and further crushing their hopes into despair while simultaneously adding him to Doflamingo's workforce (a much more sadistic option) or instead of simply letting Trebol squash him, Sugar decides to plant the Tabasco-ball in Ussop's mouth and (she believes) poison him. What follows is Ussop's reaction to the spicy Tabasco and Sugar fainting. The key difference here is to remember that Ussop was beaten into literal unconsciousness. He had absolutely no control over his face-fault. It was not a strategy he had planned nor counted on. It was not even a clever ruse he improvised on the spot when he was backed into a corner by Trebol's strength. It was utterly and completely INCIDENTAL. A side-effect of Sugar's own meddling. Had Sugar not gave Ussop the Tabasco and merely thrown it away when she thought it was Poison, Ussop WOULD BE FUCKED. The Dwarves, Toys, Kyros, and Robin WOULD BE FUCKED. In Dressrosa, far more individuals were counting on Ussop to succeed than back on Thriller Bark, and he completely let them all down. He lost miserably and was saved by random happenstance chance.

Did I expect Ussop to manhandle Trebol? No. Did I expect Ussop to cleverly use a new technique to KO Trebol? No.
What I did expect though is for Ussop to use his creativity and ingenuity to exploit Trebol's weaknesses. Remember a couple chapters back when Trebol told Leo that his sticky ooze is dangerously highly flammable? Yeah, I expected Ussop to capitalize on that. For all of Trebol's strength, perhaps being covered in FIRE and hit with a chain-reaction of explosions wouldn't have put him down for the count, but it would have momentarily preoccupied his limited attention span long enough for Ussop to legitimately defeat Sugar via a long-range distance slingshot attack. Thus Ussop actually deserving the victory and leaving Trebol for the newly-freed Coliseum gladiators to exact their sweet vengeance upon.
This chapter annoyed the piss out of me.
The write up show you completely lost gasp of the storyline. From the start, Usopp lied to the dwarves so that he can escape. He made the Usoland nonsense up so they will let him go. He was shocked when he found out he has drag himself into the middle of a war. Throughout the period Soldier San was explaining the reason(s) and tactics of war that got Franky and Robin all pumped up, he kept reminding his nakama that war is none of their concerns. The main mission is to destroy the factory. When they got to the underground, he was shocked again to find out that soldier san disappeared and all the responsibility on his shoulders. When everything failed, he ran away, simply because he was never for SOP. He turned back because Trebol was killing the dwarves. He doesn't give fuck all about SOP. He knew it was a suicide mission which was why he asked the dwarves to make a statute of him next to Noland. You may have a point if Usopp was actually trying to make SOP work.

This has more to do with Oda not being able to kill characters unless they are in flashbacks. Anyways, you are also comparing Law, who seems to be able to take hits to the level of Luffy and Zoro, some of the guys that can take the biggest beatdowns in the series to a regular human being.
Now if you're asking why aren't women strong enough with the capability of that level, that's another story (which is probably what you are asking :S)

Dude is no less muscular than Luffy, Sanji or even Usopp.
This whole thing about Law not being physically strong is one big assumption. Whitebeard also had an ability that didn't require physical strength, but nobody says he wasn't a physical powerhouse.
I don't remember seeing a shirtless pic, but even the wimpiest fodder has abs in OP, so I don't really take that as a measure of physical toughness. That, and WB's ability was still very physical in nature. Slamming, cracking and twisting the air with immense force to create quakes does seem like an ability that requires a great deal of physical prowess. Creating a time-space bubble and manipulating everything within through hand gestures and sword slashes doesn't.
If you watch the anime, you saw that recent filler where Luffy and Law got in a fist fight. A lot of people thought it was silly precisely because Law has never been portrayed as physically formidable, while Luffy has on numerous occasions even without using his DF.
The fact still remains that it's silly for there to be such a noticeable gap in what men endure in this series vs women. It doesn't serve the story at all, and detracts from it to those who are aware of the broader implications of such depictions.

Well you said "sick and frail", which the Brownbeard pirates definitely were until CC took care of the gas and Law cured their inability to walk with his god-like fruit ability and turned them into centaur-like freaks. But if you really want to be technical about the whole dying in bed aspect I guess there's no getting around that
There was also that crazy old priest at the beginning of the Norland flashback that died in bed from a disease spreading throughout the island right after demanding to offer Kalgara's sister as a sacrifice, but I'm sure there's some technical reason why he "doesn't count"
Heck, you could even say Luffy was after being dehydrated by Crocodile. I mean, how wasn't he weak an frail before gettiong rehydrated? He was literally a mummy lying helplessly! Though I guess that's battle-related and ergo doesn't count as the the Megellen poisoning, eh?

Come on, it wasn't that bad! I agree that Usopp was more of an idiot than usual, but he turned back at the last moment out of emotion. We can't expect him to make the right decision in the heat of the moment every time! As for Franky, I wish he could take on Dofla's whole crew, but let's be realistic. We've already seen him beat 2 officers at once. Now he's up against 3 or 4, plus the Marines. I'd say he's doing just fine.
I totally agree with you about the anime these days. The manga is feeling very hurried lately, with the anime used to fill in the fight scenes. This is somewhat unavoidable in that if he drew everyone's actual movements in each fight, we'd get nowhere fast. How many fights are happening right now? As readers for over 10 years now, I'm sure we both want to read the end before Oda's fingers fall off.
Like I said, Usopp is my favorite mugiwara, but he barely gets fights. Against Perona was ok for that time, but still a little silly, considering he didn't beat any of the CP9 agents and even Nami did. Fishman Island was just for the SH to create some hype. He seemed braver there, but you can argue that's only because he had his crew. The problem is, for me, he spent 2 years on a gigantic forest, where his main development should be his survival skills. But survival doesn't mean only running, nor staying hidden. Sometimes it means to take cover and act from there. He's a sniper, he should know his chances are best behind cover (by the way, Oda doesn't seem to know how gun fights work… they all just stand there all the time). His comeback created a cool moment, but that was gone because he earned no merit for his "win". At least against Perona he had a plan. It pains me that my favorite SH is getting little to no development. They have always been lucky, but to make Luffy the Pirate King with only luck after luck is disappointing.
As for Franky, if Mr. Pink would die from a bullet to the head, but survives a missile, Franky, who is bulletproof, should be able to take more hits even if his enemies are strong. I'm not suggesting he should be invincible, but it looked easy. Off-screening is a bad plot move when you want your readers to believe the story. I mean, he is a heavy-armored cyborg and he's got bumps on his head.
As for the fight scenes, that was the first thing that captivated me on the manga. Today, there are times I don't even understand how the attack went (common, Tashigi's attack on Monet was just weird looking, wasn't it?). And some reaction panels could be cut off sometimes to show how the fight goes. I get that, to keep the pace, some minor fights have to be left for imagination, and that's not as bad thing. It's even cool that they leave material for the anime. I haven't complained about the colloseum fights, I like that the Anime is showing it, but I liked the manga version too. But it seems to me that Oda is doing it so often and during important parts involving strawhats. He shows several pages of dwarves crying, but "has no space" to show important fights?
I feel like he is underestimating his readers. And unsuccessfully mixing mature content with childish stuff. You either talk about blood, death and pain or you go the kid, pacifist way: "let's make her FAINT". His most avid readers have grown up with One Piece, but they seem to target new, young readers also. Well, if you target both audiences, very distinct demographics, you end up with a crappy result that will be fit for none.
The Marineforc arc. seemed like a turning point, as if the series was ready to mature, but now he's so hesitant, it's starting to walk backwards.

Trebol is exactly why Usopp had a chance at taking her out. The guy already almost accidentally KO'd her when he smashed that ship into the tower. Plus, Trebol's power is making things stick and Usopp is a sniper. You don't have to be George R.R. Martin to see where a writer of Oda's caliber could have taken this.
If he had taken Sugar out, then been wrecked by Trebol immediately after, that would have been much more satisfying.
