I've known some of these people if I'm not mistaken lol. Does this by chance happened to be the Millennial South?
Yes, I believe it is.

Anyway no, it's close though Obama has maintained a lead. I'm pretty sure O will win, but turnout is an unpredictable bitch.
Are they?
I was under the impression it's nearly a landslide for O.
Especially with the GOP keep falling on their faces on their own the entire season.

Yeah it's close, what might be a beating though is the electoral college if Obama can maintain his lead in the states he is.

Polling is a funny thing really; Romney's inability to get a lead in more than one poll (Rasmussen has been the only one to show any lasting leads for him and is well known for its Republican leaning bias) and lack of a convention bounce bring to mind years where challengers in his position lost by landslides, but polls put the race as being much closer. On the other hand, polls tend to be directed at people who own landline telephones so it's entirely possible that they're oversampling Republicans heavily since older people are more likely to have such lines and tend to be more conservative than younger votes. This sort of thing has happened before; the most notable being in 1948 where polls were primarily taken of people who owned cars and telephones, which resulted in polls that showed Thomas Dewey crushing Truman. The actual election had Truman winning by about four million in the popular vote and 100+ electoral votes.
And that is why polls that don't aim for representative samples (like internet polls) are completely worthless
Watched a decent chunk of the RNC and the DNC, and… was it just me, or out of EVERYONE who spoke at either of these things, was Bill Clinton the only one who seemed to be up there making any kind of actual... sense?... The guy not only had all the facts and the numbers to back up what he had to say, but he went on for like, over an hour... Everyone else, ESPECIALLY the republicans seemed to be more focused on talking points...
Yeah I agree with you there. Bill Clinton talks to voters as if they were intelligent, rational human beings with attention spans… what a crazy notion.
Bill woulda been a great 4 term president. Of course, then 9/11 and the housing market thing would have happened on his watch, and not much the president could do about those, so…
But Iraq wouldn't have happened.
@RobbyBevard:

While there were no specific warnings about 9/11, there was plenty of evidence that Bin Laden was planning to do something, hence the "Bin Laden Determined To Strike Within U.S." intelligence briefing issued in August 2001. That same briefing was basically ignored because Bush's neocon advisors dismissed such claims as being a red herring planted by Al Qaeda to distract from the real threat: Saddam Hussein.
At the very least, it's hard to imagine that any of Clinton's advisors would have dismissed CIA intelligence based on that notion and fail to issue security alerts like the Bush Administration did.
I'm still incredibly foggy on how 9/11 led to Iraq.

Hindsight is indeed 20/20.

The asinine obsession with Iraq was always dumb though.

Two guys are watching a forest fire:
Hey, man, that forest fire is getting close. Shouldn't we do something?
Naw, it'll burn out before it gets here.
Are you sure? We could make a firebreak or something.
Naw, don't worry about it.
Fifteen minutes later:
Damnit, my house is on fire! I told you we should do something!
Hindsight is 20/20, dude.
So… This happened...
WELP…
November's gonna be fun.
I'm sorry but did Romney just admit to not giving a damn about the majority of the country?
Heh I just saw that video a few minutes ago. Eerie timing. Y'know I thought calling half of America as basically parasites would've been on the top of the list of things never to say on camera.
Then again this is Mitt Romney so I shouldn't be this surprised.
Also I can't help but laugh a little when he of all people accuses some people of not paying taxes.
@Cyan:
I'm sorry but did Romney just admit to not giving a damn about the majority of the country?
He stated that he doesn't care about more than approximately 47% of the United States.
So yeah… Yeah, he did. And stated that all those people don't pay their taxes.
Justice for all.
And stated that all those people don't pay their taxes.
That number is bandied about rather often by conservatives; at its heart is the thoroughly asinine assertion that if you get a refund on your taxes, then you didn't pay anything.
Sales taxes apparently don't exist in their world.
Visual representation of Republican party:
@Mittens:
We … we, uh, use Ann sparingly right now so that people don't get tired of her.
Can't you just feel the love?
Whenever I think of Ann Romney all I can think of is "Stuck-up Country Club Woman" if that makes any sense.
Fucking people expecting food and stuff in the case that they might not have any.
Romney: In fact, why do we have central government anyway? It just enables those filthy poor parasites dependents to never get a job! And we all know how easy it is to get a job, right?
Fucking wheelchair bound people need to learn how to fucking walk, amirite?

Romney has officially apologized and said his statement was 'off the cuff'.
Well now...
Meanwhile the likely one person on Romney's team who told him not call Americans victims slowly drinks himself into a coma.
God damn I'm going to quit college right the fuck now, heck even with my grad school free ride? Don't want it!
I'm gonna get my job back at Sears and live off that in a ratty roach filled apartment in a shithole neighborhood where the crime rate is through the roof. And me and Chrissie can raise our family there, it'll work.
Because DUDDDDEE, free food?? free health?? low to no taxes?? Republicans are right man, loophole city. There's a way to make the system work for you!
If only this would blow up in his face as much as he truly deserves it to.
If only this would blow up in his face as much as he truly deserves it to.
There's been like 80 things that should have killed his campaign by now. Alas…
It's certainly not helping him at the moment.
Has Romney dropped a line insulting single mothers yet? Because that would bring my hate right now to a whole new dimension.
An official apology? I wonder how that must have been worded. "I'm sorry for calling half of you parasites" can't possibly have been an easy job for spin control.

Oh nevermind I'm watching the response on MSNBC right now. He's saying the uploader didn't put up the full video so that must make Romney's comments out of context lol
@Cyan:

Lately? Probably not, but I'm pretty sure that he had some mean-spirited comments about single parents in the past because I remember Jon Stewart getting pissed at a guest on the Daily Show when that guy defended Mitt's comments.
Of course, Romney is also the guy who was surprised to find out that LBGT people had families so I so doubt he's in favor of anything other than a traditional Man works, Woman stays home style marriage. The guy doesn't even let his kids eat before him after all.
Mormons aren't so keen on the single mothers
Anything less than a perfect nuclear family is a failure on her part. And yes, they're literally told to be perfect.
Actual behind the scenes footage of Romney after speech
!
I literally could care less who wins, it won't affect me or the country in anyway. Anyone who thinks if Romney wins "this country is doomed" or if Obama wins "this country is doomed" is an idiot in HUMBLE opinion. I think since Obama has the lead and it's 2 weeks past the conventions he would be bucking a 15 election trend if he were to lose. Only thing I care about is what drinking game I'm planning on election night… I'm thinking one shot for blue states, one shot for red states :P
I literally could care less who wins, it won't affect me or the country in anyway.
Which just goes to show you know absolutely nothing about the Ryan Budget plan.
Aw come on Ubiq don't ruin it by taking him seriously.
We've got gifs for this.
I really shouldn't since it's thoroughly asinine, but there's nothing that pisses me off so much as the "Both parties are the same thing" nonsense.
People in New Hampshire believing that idiocy is what got us Bush in 2000.
Which just goes to show you know absolutely nothing about the Ryan Budget plan.
….Well, stupid question here as I don't know nearly as much about politics I should, but do you mind explaining what it is? I looked it up and while anything called 'The Path to Prosperity' sounds like something that'll blow up to me, I had a hard time understanding exactly what it does, the possible positives, and the possible negatives?
Edit: From what I can gather, it sounds like another 'Benefits rich, is bad for the poor' type plan.

You're made of the strong stuff.
Right now I'm typing up an article for my college newpaper on Voter Suppression,
(including redistricting through GOP-drawn voting maps, photo ID laws, shorter early voting days, and illegal voting purges; like claiming people who are alive are dead)
so, people who wanna tell me none of it matters are either getting the deliberately counterproductive screed that informs at the cost of extreme condescension or
Funny reaction gifs worthy of the contribution "INDECISION 2012: NATTY ICE or Pabst Blue Ribbon?! either way drunk as skunk lol" deserves.

That's it, but it really doesn't cover quite how bad it would be for the poor.
First of all, despite reductions in spending, the Ryan Budget plan wouldn't actually decrease the deficit until around 2030 because decreased spending is more than offset by tax cuts, which would primarily go to those in the higher income brackets. There is some talk of eliminating tax loopholes and deductions, but not raising taxes on the wealthy would require some of those deductions be to earned income, child, and mortage deduction credits. A multimillionaire would save roughly $265K per year in taxes while a couple filing jointly that earns around $70K would owe an additional $3K dollars if those credits are eliminated. To put it another way, Romney would pay a tax rate of around 0.82% while even a best case scenario has people earning $30K and less paying more in taxes.
Second, many of those reductions come in the form of gradually shifting Medicare over to a voucher system and raising the age of eligiblility to 67. Seniors would be presented with a list of private insurance companies that they can opt to buy from with the government kicking in around $8000 dollars a year.
Increasing age limits doesn't actually work to save money since there are fewer people going onto it, but those that do tend to be in worse health. That's because somebody who is close enough in age to receive Medicare will often put off more expensive treatments until they get into the system, which usually means that said treatments will have to be more intensive. Medicaid will also take a major hit with direct funding cuts and a larger share of paying for those programs being shifted to individual states instead of the Federal Government.
Third, unemployment and welfare benefits will also be cut along with health care for veterans, pension plans for government employees, food stamp programs, educational programs, transportation and infrastructure spending, Pell grants, and any number of other programs. Note these won't only be cuts to those programs themselves but would also require cuts to the organizations that provide those benefits. So we're looking at massive layoffs of people working for the government along with reductions or eliminations of the pensions that those employees have been working for along with the same for programs to assist those newly laid off employees.
Which just goes to show you know absolutely nothing about the Ryan Budget plan.
It cuts social security and medicare a lot… so I'm not old and social security is going bankrupt anyways. Obama continues Bush policies like warrant-less wiretapping and Romney will too. The president just signs the bills it's the congress who has to pass them... who doesn't know what again?
It cuts social security and medicare a lot… so I'm not old and
ahahahaha you are the dumbest motherfucker alive. Get out of this thread, grown ups are talking.

Spoken truly like someone still living with their parents that doesn't have to worry about paying bills at all and doesn't realize that someday, you will be old.
Have you even held a full time job yet? Are you even old enough to vote? Should you really be drinking at your age?

Yes. I'm 30 now. I am old.
I started officially feeling old a month or two into being 29.
Tomorrow I'll be even older.
I sure would feel old reading stupid shit like this, let me tell you
To an extent I can understand the "either way we're fucked" sentiment, but to call both parties identical is just giving up any real search for truth; it's typical teenagery ego-stroking condescension (those stupid sheeple, bothering to try!).
