This was an alright chapter, but I'm still irked by the fact that a fight was offscreened between Caribou and Luffy. Granted it sounds like it didn't last long, but this arc has been skipping a lot of action and I'm rather annoyed by that.
There was no fight. Zoro states that they found Caribou already unconscious. Luffy knocked him out last chapter.
Besides, they will regret it later leaving him lying there.

Well,I agree that they probably arent the strongest members.Big Mom's island is only three days travel time,so it wasnt that much trouble getting to Fishman ISland,and didnt require the strongest.They probably do the grunt work,and keep Big Mom informed on whats happening with her crew.
But,It'll be pretty wild if her messangers can easily overpower Zoro and Sanji.

Yeah, I think this is going to be similar to Whiskey Peak where Luffy and Zoro beat the crap out of what are supposedly strong fighters to show how strong they actually are. I doubt Big Mam would send top-tier fighters to pick up candy for her. Tamago and Pekoms will probably get beaten up immediately if they try to fight.
I do feel sort of bad about it though. Tamago actually seems like a decent guy who was trying very hard to diffuse a volatile situation and was acting reasonably. He doesn't strike me as someone who really deserves to get beaten up right now, but he probably will have to be.
Also, I wonder if the 3-eyed pirate has some sort of telepathic/telekinetic DF powers. We haven't seen anything like that so far (though Shiki's was similar to it), and it would be a possible explanation for her third eye. She does look like she's important in the Big Mam pirates, as she has her own chair next to Big Mam herself.

I wonder, is Mr. Pekoms a DF user (we still haven't had a lion Zoan) or an actual lion? I'm starting to think that maybe anthropomorphic animals, Long-Leg/Long-Arm/Snake-Neck/Mink/Dwarf/Giant tribes and humans with weird supernatural features (like the three-eyed girl) are plentiful in the New World, while Paradise and the Blues are almost solely populated by regular humans.
It could be like a reversed Dragon Ball (that we know Oda loves) - in the original Dragon Ball, tons of weird beings were walking the Earth without being aliens, while in Dragon Ball Z, almost all Earthlings were your average human and the weirdos were all aliens. One Piece could be starting out with regular humans to take an even more fantasy-oriented style in the New World.I like Baron Tamago's design more, however. Nice to see a Long-Leg, and his egg pants as well as his cup/saucer hat was hilarious. We already had a lion-man, Absalom, and an actual lion, Richie.
Big Mam had to be giant-sized, I'd never have guessed that (sarcasm may occur in my statement). And I'd bet my (name whatever you want me to bet) that Kaidou is also at least Whitebeard's size. Other than that, Big Mam seems awesome in the slightly creepy way, but listen to my prayers, Oda, a character actually CAN be under 3 meter tall and still be badass. -

You mean the lion with the sunglasses? He was more adorable than threatening. Quite frankly I can't see those two beaten up right now. To me they're hilarious but maybe I'm wrong and they're indeed capable fighters (the egg guy had a scar similar to Zoro's after all). I just know that I want to see more interaction with them.

Okay, okay, I'm not sure how Pirate Empires work, be it in our Universe or the Odaverse, but, if/when Luffy does defeat Big Mum, would he really stop with FI? Or would he really have to drum up some support from Supernovae, Shanks, Jinbei, Rayleigh, former WB Pirates and divide up her turf from there?

He looks like a guy with a big head and a rather thin mask. And if I were to interpret that scene I'd say that he's reporting about the destroyed island first and then turns his head to ask for snacks (in order to create a comedic scene). Either that or maybe he's just shaking his head.

I think he is just moving side to side real fast.

at first i thought jimbei would stay behind and guard fishman island because luffy's name was still not powerful enough but i don't know anymore. wouldn't jimbei joining luffy's crew only make his name bigger? i think luffy having an ex warlord on his crew would strike fear in many pirates. adding an ex warlord and picking a fight with an emperor? word of this would spread big time and luffy's name would only grow more. add that he is dragon son and not many pirates on the grandline will want to mess with fishman island when they cross over.
I still see something else happening on this island. I really dont think its over yet, but who knows anymore.
Honestly if the Tenryuubito come into play in this manga, they have to come into play sooner or later. I mean, there are just several instances that forshadow their involvement. I do hope we get a mariejois arc now than later. -

I don't think it's like a pendulum as much as it is like his head is attached like a spring. The sound effect is "byon byon" which just sounds . . . springy, too me. I vaguely remember cheap nick-knacks/toys like that. A big, flat face attached to a body with a spring.

Damn great chapter! Seriously, Big Mom's crew and everything around them was simply amazing. Curiously enough, not the "One Piece" kind of amazing… it was something from a completely, but just as good, style.

What Luffy did was kind of smart. He drew attention away from Fishman Island to keep it from being destroyed.Also, Kid might be the first Supernovae we see in the New World!!

A third eye is pretty common in japanese folklore for oni, and it pops up in anime pretty often. Pai in 3x3 Eyes, Tienshinhan in Dragonball, Hiei in YuYuHakusho, Opera and Ernest in Star Ocean, are just a couple of easy examples. It goes back at LEAST as far as Erlang Shen in Journey to the West, which was written in the 1500's.
In popular culture, the third eye is from becoming enlightened.

Exactly, that chick is obviously a power house to there team otherwise having her sitting there in a chair right next to big Mom really seems kind of weird, obviously oda's holding back on us, and the other guy just said he burnt a country to the ground, I'm agreeing with this post 100%
still wonder about these two on FI, guess we'll have to wait a while longer to find out, but they have some pretty cool designs to just become fodder, usually fodder don't look that good, Hammond is a good example

let's talk about Jimbei. I think this "Big Mom" saga will come full circle back to Fishman island at which point he will fully join the crew. In Madam Sharley's vision, Luffy was surrounded by flames "destroying" fishman Island. Big Mom's men burned the other country to the ground that disobeyed them. The center of this conflict is FI with Luffy even claiming it as his territory. I think this battle with Big Mom will parallel Baroque Works in that it will follow the Straw Hats through the first several islands in the New World….but ultimtaely it will bring them back to FI. This leaves Caribou (left on the street) to his own devices, allows time for Reverie to get started, gives some time for Noah to be repaired, etc. Most importantly it's 100+ chapters before Jimbei fully joins, giving weight to his decision to wait. I still think we're going to see Reverie and if FI is destroyed, it would certainly be interesting to see what happens. The fact is the Fishmen don't want to live on the ocean floor. Noah will carry them to the surface on the "promised day."
Perhaps Caribou will try to kidnap Shirahoshi again...without anyone to stop him (Fukaboshi and Neptune won't sense an invader the same as Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji), he could succeed. Maybe the WG will learn of "Poseidon"....this may lead to Vivi rejoining at Reverie. It was mentioned that under Akainu the gov has become more militant. Alabasta also has a weapon, "Pluton"...I could see this leading to conflict between the WG and Alabasta. Vivi left her country to save her people from Croc. If sailing with the SH's would save her people, she would do the same again. I think this may very well be the case. In any situation, I think Reverie will be important and will happen sooner rather than later. There are some other really big events that have to happen in the New World. I think Jimbei will be with the crew for the majority.

There's two skip weeks at the start of the year, for New Years, and then Golden week. The "double" issues don't have any extra content, they just count for two weeks on the schedule. The actual magazine release is chapter, skip, chapter, skip.
But because the mags are printed in advance, there are often leaks well in advance. So what usually happens is we get the middle chapter early, giving us a schedule of chapter, chapter, skip, skip. We got it earlyish again, which is actually unfortnate, because it means that much longer a wait for the next one.
The next issue is scheduled for january 17, so we'll probably get spoilers/scans of that around the 11th or 12th, about three weeks from now.
And what does a Cake Cake fruit do?
Make things into cakes. This could include edible minions. Its not a "eat everything" fruit, Wapol already had that.
