@danie I'll just put her with Luffy and Buggy for now. I can't really call it. Thanks

@Cockycent Well, they were the east blue paramecia. Then we got to the grand line and paramecia became everything that wasn't a logia or zoan.
So Luffy pretty much still is a parameria outside of the awakening and even then, the fruit's awakening has a paramecia aspect to it.
-
@danie That's part of what made me start to think about this.
Oda unloaded I think like 6 Mythical Zoans in Wano. A few of them were using abilities w/o transforming into beast or hybrid.
Also, what is their hybrid and beast form? Sengoku and Marco leave me curious, even tho I think Marcos has at least show just his beast form.
With most of the Human fruits being Mythical, is this a set up for Chopper to be Mythical as well? He can be Ancient or just normal as well. His hybrid form is what he's in for the most part.
Then, if that is Awakening for Luffy, what is his beast and hybrid? Do Mythical all have a beast and hybrid form anyway.
I'm aware that many awaited Awakening Zoans in Wano, but from what I see, we only got Nika. The jail Zoans seem to be incomplete to an extent.
That lead me back to the question of, was Luffy always meant to be Mythical and if not, when was it decided.
A lot for Oda to answer, but he may not feel like going into it.

Been thinking about Bonney and Kuma. Either Bonney was a family member from Kuma or she was a Celestial and met Kuma that was still a King at that time during Levely. Idk what kind of relationship they had but clearly not a romance lol. There has to be something else that Bonney aimed when she came to Mary Geoise that prolly related to her past life being one of the world noble..

What i'm looking forward to in this arc is what some have already pondered. Not only can "science" cancel out Haki and DF, but also is there a science to DF and Haki? Well, of course there is, but is there an even more thought out way of viewing them than already explained.
For example, something i've thought about concerning Poneglyphs had escaped me for a while. Then, Oda had Tamago hit me with "there's 30 Poneglyphs" and i'm like oh wow I forgot that was something I cared for at some point.
I never really invested in the Oda quote about VP revealing things concerning DFs. Since the Koby conversation i've been sold on meeting him and exploring his findings. Lineage factor, who was in MADS, why is tampering with behavior common among some of MADS work, motivations and origins.
Reminds me of my Red Hair Pirates thread on a certain deceased forum. BB Pirates = rare DF, Beast Pirates = zoans, BM Pirates = food theme, so what might Shanks crew be themed with? I thought they would be a non DF crew with interesting weapons and abilities. I remember some brought up bio-feedback for Lucky and sea stone bullets.
There was this 1 user that stated that DF were the end all be all.
Many disagreed with him and went back and forth. I always think of that thread when some get worked up over "special Haki" and "Nika Fruit". Even if Franky and Nami never come across Haki or DF in the future, I see them as formidable. Zeus-tact being a product of DF possibilities is a cool mixture. Sanji combining science with Haki was cool to watch too.
As tough as Zoro is, there is a limit to his speed and breathing underwater. Or even dealing with Sea Stone for anyone. I really liked when Robin used FM Karate. Kinda unfair to go against Haki and DF with a blanket term like science to cover everything from natural abilities like Electro, FM jujutsu/karate, ignite to cyborgs, plant life, etc but idc. You can't spend forever on top. Science will prevail.
-
I always liked this one. Luffy's mother was a Celestial Dragon, and her and Dragons union will be like a play on Romeo and Juliet.
-
@Lizzy
I do also think they are related. At the very least they are from the same place. Kuma was the king of Sorbet Kingdom in South Blue and we know that Bonney also comes from South Blue and on top of that the island's name is food related so it feels quite plausible. -
Bakkin is probably Silver Axe or connected in some other way to that character.
-
Dragon could have been part of the Goa royal family. And they tried to marry him off to a Celestial Dragon to gain prestige. Initially Dragon would have hated the idea, but he ends up falling in love with his arranged bride. When she dies he vows to destroy the Celestial Dragons system.
-
@Chams-0 So he's not really Garp's son? It would work better if Luffy's mom was the one who was part of Goa Royalty. Dragon should be an ex marine who just couldn't stand to serve the celestial dragons!
-
@danie LOL, I knew that there was something I wasn't remembering correctly. Obviously I forgot about Garp.
-
Dragon could be royalty. We don’t know who his mom is either.
-
Kaido might have been part of royalty at one point, possibly a king.
-
@Zik said in Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2:

Garp and a princess? Yeah, I can see that.
Dragon being an ex marine or cipher pol agent is very likely though considering he's acquainted with Vegapunk. Not to mention being Garp's son.
-
This shot of Gear 5 hair reminded me of a devil's fruit just now. Something's up...
By the way, feel free to make a v3 thread soon.
-
Kozuki Sukiyaki should teach Momo how to read and write the Poneglyphs. Since it is a skill of the Kozuki clan, passed on for generations. If Oden could do it, then it means his father taught him. And Oden never taught Momo (kind of a mistake, since he knew Orochi was a threat)
-
What would happen if Vegapunk studied Brook’s devil fruit? Could he figure out immortality itself?
-
Kuma's known timeline:
- 47 years ago: Kuma is born
- 38 y.a.: God Valley Incident. (Kuma is freed?)
- ???: Became King of Sorbet.
- ???: (Supposedly) Ousted by his own people, became known as "The Tyrant" (Note: This may have happened before or after 24 y.a., we don't know yet)
- 24 y.a.: Roger's execution
- 24 y.a. (supposedly): Bonney is born
- 22 y.a.: Ohara incident
- 21-22 y.a. (within one year after the Ohara Incident): Dragon, Kuma and Ivankov form the Revolutionary Army
- 15 y.a.: Fisher Tiger climbs the Red Line and raids Mary Geoise (I mention this to show it wasn't then that Kuma escaped the Celestial Dragons)
- 12 y.a.: Kuma, Dragon and Ivankov rescue people from Gray Terminal.
- ???: Kuma is captured. (Bonney captured too?)
- ???: Dr Vegapunk takes interest in Kuma. Kuma becomes a Warlord.
- ???: Jewelry Bonney escapes the government.
- 2 y.a.: Kuma becomes mindless; protects the Sunny for two years
I've tried to gather more facts about him, but couldn't get any dates.
Speculation:
- Kuma was a slave in God Valley and escaped when Rocks attacked.
- He eventually ended up in Sorbet, South Blue, married into the Jewelry royal family.
- He became king, but his identity was discovered by the government
- WG spun the "Tyrant" lie to justify attacking Sorbet
- Kuma escaped to the seas as a Pirate, bringing a young Bonney with him.
- He then founded the Revolutionaries with Dragon and Ivankov.
- Sabo and Bonney potentially knew each other way earlier than the recent Reverie.
- Bonney was captured and used as leverage for Kuma's surrender.
- After becoming Warlord, he kept obeying the government because Bonney was a prisoner.
- When Bonney escaped, Kuma felt he no longer had to obey the government, so he spared the Straw Hats in Thriller Bark and, later, helped them escape in Sabaody to become stronger
- He knew well the consequences of his actions, so as a final F.U. to the government he asked Vegapunk to program a final order so he would protect the Sunny.
- Kuma wished Bonney to not find out that her escape led him to lose his will, so she wouldn't blame herself.
-
huh

@RomanceDawn said in Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2:
Hmmm... That white hair part actually has me considering this. Going to keep this in the back of my mind.
The white hair could go either way for me, but if Stussy and Weevil's origins are any indication, it could implicate Yamato as having a far more sinister origin than just being Kaido's child.
There's also the idea that Bonney is a failed clone of Big Mom, which Vegapunk later gave to Kuma, and may be the truth Vegapunk doesn't want Bonney to know. Though I'm not sure if Oda would actually do something ridiculous like that.
-
My theory regarding Yamato's origins is that she's the daughter of Kaido and Kurozumi Higurashi. It would have been some kind of deal and the "only" way Kaido could have an heir.
-

Also interesting alternative theory. Higurashi was also dressed similar to Yamato with the mask when she first met Orochi. Higurashi also mentioned the idea of survival of the fittest 28 years ago to Kaido, so I suppose that could lead into Higurashi offering her young woman relative to Kaido, so that Kaido could have a son on the throne and Kurozumi could have a Kurozumi member on the throne after Orochi’s time too.
-
That would make Kaido's killing of her a lot more disturbing then.
-

And the revelation of Tama being Kurozumi Tama makes me further wonder if Oda had Yamato's mom be a Kurozumi member too. If true, then it's interesting to think about how the fact of Yamato being the offspring of both Kaido and a Kurozumi member would affect Yamato's character in Wano.

Has anyone made the connection between Im and Mim from Bone yet? Mim gives me big Red Line vibes. Also there are a lot of themes about dreams/dreaming surrounding her.
https://boneville.fandom.com/wiki/Mim#:~:text=Mim is the queen of,first dragon to be created.
I've done some research into the name Mim and it seems to come from the name Miriam. The name has many interesting meanings, "mutiny / rebellion / disobedience" "mistress or lady of the sea"(that last one's only source I've found so far is from a site called Mom.com so that one is a bit shaky). Also, interestingly, Miriam or Myriam seems to be the Hebrew Old Testament name for the Virgin Mary. Another biblical Miriam is Moses's sister who is associated with water and danced and played the drums while leading the Hebrew women across the Red Sea. I realize that this is a mess of ideas, but I really do think it's possible that Oda and Jeff Smith are taking from the same sources with Im and Mim. I'll do some more research and see if I can find any more connections later. -
@electricmastro Yeah I agree with you, I have a similar point of view on the matter.
Higurashi, with her "Mane Mane" fruit could copy anyone's appearance, so technically she could have taken the form of someone like Big Mom who has the same height of Kaido and then...well I don't need to describe the rest I thinkI imagine that Kaido said "okay I'll come to your country if you can provide me weapons...but I also need a heir..you! Do it!" and Higurashi probably replied something like : "nikyokyokyo if that's the only price to pay, the pleasure is mine".
Kaido : "Let me warn you. This child will be mine, my heir, my son. You won't have any right over him, he won't know his mother, he will be an Oni"
Higurashi : "I've never liked kids anyways, not that I care, the Kurozumi family already has a successor ni kyo kyo"
-
Weird thought, but did Enel actually destroy Bilka, or could it have been the WG and their super weapon?
I know McKinley said Enel did it, but we never see a flashback of it happening. And we saw that the arc Maxim was needed for Enel to build the power needed to destroy Skypiea. If he destroyed Bilka, why didn’t he already have the super weapon like Maxim at his disposal and have to build Maxim in Skypiea?

Higurashi prob approached Kaido with an offer for an heir that most people before never got the courage to do because Higurashi might have known him even before the Kurozumi and Beasts Pirates allied. I couldn’t find anything like that. Maybe there is and I missed it. Might need a spot check if someone knows offhand if that was the case.

Exactly, and maybe they curse their name because, just like all the other people in Wano, they suffered a lot under Orochi's tyranny.

VP's PG research and curiosity over the weight of memory might be connected.
Roger could hear the voices of the Skypiea PG.
Rayleigh confirmed it was the VOAT
Both Roger and Oden heard the Sea Kings.
All things makes it literal, so what does that mean for the ancient robot and it's power source?
VP wants to not only share what he knows with everyone and through that "seas of knowledge", his intellect can be surpassed.
He wants to also share the resources with the world.
How does one get from point A to point B of sharing resources and knowledge. I think they will initially have to identify the resource, analyze it, and then find out how to convert it before being able to transmit.
Here is VP researching memories. I believe that "voices" that Roger hears are possibly "memories left behind. Similar to Force Echoes in Star Wars.
There is a chance that this same ability allows for Shirahoshi to speak to Sea Kings, convert desires to DF, activate the ancient robot no matter how many years later, Momo commanding Zunesha.
Finding out the weight of it and comparing Kuma's DF ability to a nervous system was a clue to me. It's what is on VP's mind.
That makes me question what does he have to give to Bonney. He didn't want her to go in the P.A.W. room and he also promised to not tell her about Kuma. So what is it? I believe it to be a memory.
When introducing him, Bonney felt that Luffy and the others were doing nothing by calling the robot names. Looks like Luffy made a wish.
Shirahoshi made a wish.
It's easy to just think that VP is warping, but he is saying that it's another failure. Meaning this has happened before. Yet, he indicates that something took place as he was warping. I think there is a chance that Luffy's command/wish disrupted his warping.

So, I was looking back at Chapter 1,076 and I noticed the buildings around Elbaf do reflect the architecture of Viking Age Scandinavia well enough....but are relatively primitive by the standards of other places across the world. Also, as old legends in Dorry and Brogy, return, I think I might have deduced the root of conflict for the arc.
I think whoever the villain is will want to "modernize" Elbaf, taking it away from it's Viking roots and even seek to join the World Government, adopting their rules and customs, an analogy of how the Christianization of Scandinavia took it from decentralized petty kings and jarls to a unified, stable country, the foundations of modern Denmark, Sweden, etc. And old traditions like the Giant Warrior Pirates have to go. For their part, there's no way the World Government would miss a chance to bring Elbaf under their control, even if it means making giant-sized ships and weapons for the villain's modernized army.
So, it will be a conflict of tradition versus modernization, I believe.

Crazy theory that's probably wrong but...
So you know how we were told that the "man with the burn scar" has an all-black ship that is capable of creating maelstroms that sink ships?
So, hear me out, what if this mystery is connected to the egg on Roger's ship?
We know that the egg disappeared some time between Roger finding One Piece and his execution. This is also likely around the time that the Road Poneglyph on Fishman Island would have gone missing. So what if the two events were somehow connected? It's also been theorized for a while now that this egg contains some kind of giant, possibly primordial, bird.
And I propose a candidate for just such a bird: Hræsvelgr
Hræsvelgr is a figure from Norse mythology, described as a giant eagle (or rather a jotunn shaped like an eagle but I'll get to that) who is described in the Poetic Edda as sitting at the end of the world/heaven's end and is the creator of wind. His name can be translated as either "corpse swallower" or, most interestingly for this case, "shipwreck current." Given that the finding the final Road Poneglyph would lead someone to Laugh Tale - figuratively the end of the world in the series - it would be fitting if such a creature had a connection to the Road Poneglyph and the last person who found it.
So perhaps the egg on Roger's ship is either an ancient mythical bird that is now with the man with the burn scar, or an ordinary large bird that later ate a devil fruit, or even a man/giant who ate a devil fruit that transformed him into a mythical bird?
-
Sound goes back to my frequency theory.
- Voices being heard from PG.
- Sounds that can scare away Sea Kings
- VP's interest in the weight of memories
- Law's crew hearing Luffy while underwater
- The possible energy source VP is searching for
Old theory 2016

For the longest time I had the theory that Oda was saving some Zoan fruits (bear, tiger and lion in particular) for the end of the manga.
After Wano, I am not confident we will ever see those.
I may be the only one feeling this way but I find that sad because when Zoan were introduced and especially since Lucci's first transformation I had this hype that those animals were saved for the strongest characters. Minks and smiles don't do it for me. -
So I have this theory about the nature of the One Piece. The Ancient Weapons we know about all have to do with ships: Poseidon was made to call on the seakings to carry Noah and Pluton is a giant boat. So perhaps they were made to carry people all the way to Laugh Tale, uniting the different countries and races, in a giant party. Joy Boy prepared a giant table where everyone in the world can sit and talk and eat together, and that is also Luffy’ s and Roger’s dream. Silly, I know, but that’s how it should be.
-
So, I have a small little theory: Now, we've learned SWORD are basically the "expendable" Marines, as in they can do what they want, but if they get it over their heads, too bad. And we saw Drake, their Captain, get into a fight with the CP0 agents at Wano. And CP0 are the personal assassins of the World Nobles.
As they are going with Garp, a known maverick, to the HQ of one of the Yonkou, I wonder if they are in more danger then they think they are? As in, maybe Teach actually did strike some sort of deal, only Koby is the lure to get rid of some troublesome marines.

SWORD basically seem like fall guy write offs. The only thing that connects them to the Marines is loyalty instead of paperwork, and can be free to do whatever without worrying about staining the Marines’ image. So if there’s a screw-up, Sakazuki can just say, “Eh, that guy was just a devoted fanatic. Nothing to do with us.”
As for Koby, it seems like there’s something about him Blackbeard is interested in that gave him an edge in becoming Pirate Island boss. Not sure what it is though.

Oh right, time for "Absurd theory number 23489109"
I personally believe that Bonney is gonna play a decisive role in the current arc. I mean, her connection to Kuma has been known for a while and for as "moving" as it could be it's pretty much pointless to the whole story, so there has to be something more. We know that Bonney served a role (Akainu was "glad to get her back to the WG after she escaped", the CP-0 is now here to kill her cause she's "no longer needed"...) and I think she's in this arc because this finally has to be adressed.
Now, a very popular theory when she was recovered by Akainu is that she could have been, given her power, the person who rejuvenated the Gorosei or Imu making them basically immortals. (by the way later we had the revelation of Law's fruit being one that can also grant immortality, but since he wasn't really chased by the WG I interpet it as he wasn't needed). However, in the last few chapters Bonney stated that the effects of her fruit only works temporarily on living things, which seems to finally disprove the popular theory.
BUT. Why would Oda have Bonney explain specifically that her power on living things is temporary? It seems to me an unnecessary clarification done for the sole purpose of disproving that theory. So I think he's purposley misleading us... I mean, he's not lying, he's just not telling us the whole thing. That clarification seems to imply that on non-living things her power are actually not temporary, hence eternal. So, what if the Gorosei or Imu are actually NON LIVING things? Now I don't mean rocks that came to life, but what if they were actually DEAD and her power is able to make them go back in time when they were alive? Basically, resuscitating people... Given that they were dead (so non-living), this means that their resuscitation would last forever.
In the specific case of Imu, the timeline tells us this:
-Bonney is captured, so the WG is relieved
-Imu appears
-Bonney is no longer needed, so she is to be killed off
So, a further explanation could be that she was chased by the WG so that she could resuscitate Imu at a specific time, which could explain:- Why Imu didn't appear in the first half of the manga.
- Why Imu was seen in a frozen room: that's were their body was preserved until it was time to resuscitate them.
- Imu is back at this specific time because they have the power needed to destroy everything---> thanks to Vegapunk's weapon.
Sorry, it was a long post with a lot of BS but that's my crazy theory...

The reveal of Nyon being in Rocks Pirates allow us to make a tentative timeline of the Kuja. It may also explain why Hancock had so much contempt for her. It could be that it was not because Gloriosa left for love, but because she joined an enemy pirate crew.
In Chapter 498, Shakky reveals she was a pirate "40 years ago". At the time, it felt like she retired around that time, but now it feels like this is when she became Captain. Since Shakky was the Empress, that must be when her predecessor, Gloriosa, left.
So, it probably means Gloriosa "betrayed" the Kuja 42 years ago (40 years + timeskip), four years before the God Valley Incident. We also know Kaido had joined Rocks 6 years before God Valley, 44 years ago, which means Rocks was already a thing before Gloriosa left.
So, Shakuyaku, 22 years old, was probably the most skilled Kuja after Gloriosa, maybe even her right hand. With her predecessor gone, she became empress 42 years ago and ruled for almost 20 years. Why 20 years? Because in Chapter Zero she's already living with Rayleigh in Sabaody, 22 years ago. This was the year Shiki escaped Impel Down, and just 2 years after Roger died, so not long after Rayleigh's retirement.
BTW, two years prior, when Roger died, 7-year old Hancock was already aiming to become strong in order to be allowed on the Kuja ship.
Anyway, we are not sure when Shakky left, but it was probably near Rayleigh's retirement. They probably got in love during their pirate careers.
As such, the "unnamed empress", Hancock's predecessor, must have assumed the mantle around 24-22 years ago. That means she already knew the Boa sisters and was the captain when they were kidnapped onboard, 19 years ago.
Hancock and her sisters remained slaves for 4 years, until Fisher Tiger released the slaves from Mary Geoise, 15 years ago. Somehow, the Boa sisters reached Sabaody Archipelago that same year. I think I may know how, but I'll leave that for later... We know that, when the Boa sisters reached Sabaody, they were found by Nyon, Rayleigh and Shakky. Nyon then travelled with the girls back to Amazon Lily, when the unnamed empress allowed Nyon to live in the outskirts of the village.
The unnamed empress ruled for two more years, when she finally succumbed to love sickness and, instead of leaving to live her passion, resisting it to the bitter end. Her rule endured for at least 9 years, when she died 13 years ago.
Then, Hancock's rule began. In the same year, after one campaign at sea, she became a Warlord. Despite being a Warlord, Hancock kept attacking allied ships and even government vessels. She also never attended any summons or meetings, until Marineford. She would have ignored even that event if not for Luffy needing help to save Ace, BTW.
So, in sum, the timeline goes probably like this:
- 42 years ago: Gloriosa joins Rocks. Shakuyaku becomes empress
- 38ya: God Valley Incident
- ???: Roger and Kuja Pirates meet at some point, Shakky falls in love.
- 25ya: Roger Pirates disband. Rayleigh retires.
- ???: Shakky retires, unnamed empress takes the mantle
- 24ya: Gold Roger's death
- Around 22ya: Rayleigh and Shakky live together in Sabaody Archilpelago.
- 19ya: Boa Hancock and her sisters are kidnapped aboard the Kuja ship.
- 15ya: Fisher Tiger releases the Boa sisters. Boa sisters reach Sabaody, are sheltered by Nyon, Shakky and Rayleigh. Nyon takes them to Amazon Lily. Unnamed empress allows Nyon to live in the outskirts of the village.
- 13ya: Unnamed empress dies. Hancock becomes empress, gets 1st bounty and Warlord title.
There are still some question about all this, thought. Who was Gloriosa's love interest. Was it Rocks? Was she in a love triangle with Newgate and Stussy? Could it be Kaido, and Gloriosa is Yamato's mother? So many possibilities...
Also, what was Gloriosa's purpose with Rocks? Was she there for love, or was there something else that made her decide to leave the Kuja? What did she expect to settle "once and for all" in God Valley? Could this purpose be related to the Kuja in some way?
Did Hancock's story cross with Kuma's at some point? I have a feeling we may see a escaped 16-year old Hancock in Kuma's flashback. Could he have a role in Fisher Tiger's raid? Could his "hands of liberation" have sent slaves away at that time?
While the Kuja are not the focus of the current story, it feels that they've been orbiting it for some time.
- Egghead's prelude in Amazon Lily
- Shakky's reveal
- S-Snake causing people to remember Hancock
- Nefertari Lily's potential relation to Amazon Lily?
- Nyon's reveal
Kuma sent Luffy to Amazon Lily for some reason, after all. Why send him to a place that feared men, ruled by an unfriendly empress? Did Kuma know something more about her or the Kuja? We may know why pretty soon.

@Deicide said in Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2:

Does make me wonder again how much control Kuma had over where they landed. If Kuma knew about Gloriosa, then perhaps Rocks could be more connected to his efforts than we realize.

@electricmastro Kuma has some sort of control because he was able to point the direction he sent Luffy to Rayleigh.

@Deicide Are you the one that thinks Hancock will join the crew? I remember someone on this forum thinking that... If so, Gloriosa being part of the Rocks Pirates must have really encouraged you! I don't dislike the idea. I think it would be pretty funny but it just seems a lot more likely for Hancock to be the captain of the Kuja Pirates under Luffy now that she can't stay in Amazon Lily.
Regardless, i'm just glad Hancock is bound to have a more active role in the story now! Imagine she joins Buggy like Mihawk though... hahahahaha
Someone has to rescue Weevil from Aramaki though, right? I can see her pulling it off.
-
@danie yes, I’ve been saying she would join the crew for… 13 years…? I think?

Yeah, as amusing as Hancock joining the crew would be, i would find it a lot more amusing for her to join Buggy... Not just her though but all the available ex warlords! So aside from Hancock, Moria, Law, and Weevil? I just really like the idea of all the available ex warlords coming together.
