My theory regarding Yamato's origins is that she's the daughter of Kaido and Kurozumi Higurashi. It would have been some kind of deal and the "only" way Kaido could have an heir.

@cavendishsama True, but when we see them fighting post-timeskip, they weren't using any weapons.
They are both best friends and "rivals", they like to compete with each other, it's part of their nature, just like we like to compete with our friends on video games just to see who's the best for example..this is how I see their post-timeskip fight.

Their weapons were worn out already and completely destroyed after the LG arc, I think that for them fighting without their beloved weapons wasn't just the same.

If I remember well, Oimo and Kashii used to think that their captains were dead, that's what the Marines told them and why they remained at Enies Lobby. I'd have to look for that specific scene, but I think they told Usopp that they were gonna look for their captains.

So although the "Kurozumi Tama" detail was revealed in SBS instead of in the manga itself, I suspect this will play a bigger role in the future of Wano in light of Oda emphasizing on how discrimination persists in society even to this day. How would you guys think this would affect Tama and those around her?

Personally, I don't think this point will be important in the story. I assume that the next time we see Wano, it will be attacked by someone who's after Pluton. So I don't think Tama's true name will matter if it's a war context.

By the way, I don't think the heroes will blame Tama for being a Kurozumi, even though Hiyori said hm..what she said. The Kurozumi clan used to support the Kozuki clan for centuries until one of them decided to betray them. Orochi, Kanjuro...they all turned totally evil because of that, but now this is history, and I'm pretty sure Kin and the others will never blame Tama for what happened in the past.

To me, it seems like everything is back to order.

The fact that Tama is a Kurozumi or not doesn't matter, and I think it may be why Oda decided to reveal that detail in the SBS instead of the main story. It's a way of telling us : "look, Tama might be a Kurozumi but she suffered like all the other people. Her parents died not because of the Kozuki, but because of Kaido and Orochi's tyranny. Whatever her name is, she had all the reasons to hate Orochi for what she had to live, so the fact that she's a Kurozumi is a detail now, and she's free to live her life without having to carry the weight of the past".

Just a small correction: the marines told them Dorry and Broggy were imprisoned in Impel Down. Oimo and Kashi made a deal to guard Enies Lobby for 50(?) years, in exchange for their captains' freedom.

Thanks! I had forgotten about this part 😆

The fact is, they continued fighting for more than 2 years. Now they've stopped, so we need an explanation. If Oda wanted the duel to end because they didn't have their weapons anymore, he could have done that, but he didn't.

chapter 431. "If our captains are still dueling, we can't go near that island. We're gonna stay hear for a while before returning to Elbaf"

Next time we see them: Cover of 490. Oimo and Kashi return to Elbaf.

We need a clarification from Oda, yes. Even if Oimo and Kashii didn't go to Little Garden, it doesn't sound unrealistic to me that Dorry and Broggy decided to go back to Elbaf on their own.
Maybe they got bored and it was the right moment for them.
I guess we will have the answer when the straw hats go to Elbaf.

@electricmastro Yeah I agree with you, I have a similar point of view on the matter.
Higurashi, with her "Mane Mane" fruit could copy anyone's appearance, so technically she could have taken the form of someone like Big Mom who has the same height of Kaido and then...well I don't need to describe the rest I think 🤣

I imagine that Kaido said "okay I'll come to your country if you can provide me weapons...but I also need a heir..you! Do it!" and Higurashi probably replied something like : "nikyokyokyo if that's the only price to pay, the pleasure is mine".

Kaido : "Let me warn you. This child will be mine, my heir, my son. You won't have any right over him, he won't know his mother, he will be an Oni"

Higurashi : "I've never liked kids anyways, not that I care, the Kurozumi family already has a successor ni kyo kyo"

Higurashi prob approached Kaido with an offer for an heir that most people before never got the courage to do because Higurashi might have known him even before the Kurozumi and Beasts Pirates allied. Higurashi had copies of Shiki’s face and possibly even Stussy’s, so it could delve into this idea that either Higurashi was part of Rocks or was a close affiliate of them.

      Yes, absolutely.

It makes no doubt to me that Higurashi was either an official member of Rocks or affiliated with them. I'm pretty sure that's how she got to meet Kaido and to know about his passion for war and weapons etc.

And the fact that the Kurozumis got as far as having a child named Tama 8 years ago could also give leeway for there to be multiple other Kurozumi descendants to be out there in Wano too.

Exactly, and maybe they curse their name because, just like all the other people in Wano, they suffered a lot under Orochi's tyranny.

@cavendishsama In a way, their fight was already over at the end of the Little Garden arc, their weapons were completely destroyed after they used that "Hakoku sovereignty" move.
I suppose Oimo and Kashii somehow made their way to Little Garden to look for their captains and they all went back to Elbaf after that.

Now I'm curious about the circumstances in which Shanks met Dorry and Broggy. It's safe to assume that it was on Little Garden, and I suppose that Shanks was very young at the time, he certainly wasn't a yonko yet.

It sounds like a nice story to write.

      @Captain:

Agree to disagree I guess. I think it's always a fun novelty to see the little bit extra when it comes up when they show the manuscripts or when a page is misprinted, but as an actual aesthetic/readability thing, the empty space and awkward speech bubble placement aren't worth it for a full release. You don't have to characterise it like I'm justifying something unacceptable to myself because I feel I've got no choice, it's just a fact that we're already seeing the manga as it was intended to be read and there are good reasons it's done the way it is.

Agree to disagree yeah completely. But courteously!

You have your opinion. It may be a fact for you, for me it's an opinion and vice versa, what is a fact for me is an opinion for you.

I won't try to win this debate by stating "facts", this is pointless. In the end, nobody can't deny that there's a difference between the Spanish, Japanese, and English versions. That's all.

I'll stop here for my part, this debate is pointless because it won't change anything to the situation itself. It's just that one will feel like he won and the other like he lost. Let's say that I lost and you won 👅

      Have a good day!
