The Lobo we've been seeing in things like Stormwatch is an imposter it seems. At the end of the one shot, Newbo goes to Earth to find the Lobo we all know and love and kill him.
Gee I wonder why I haven't run across any glowing reviews yet ?

I have yet to read anything with the new Lobo, and from what i hear he really sounds like a bad written character.
But i actually really like how he looks. Its kinda like how he would have looked if he was a Danny Zuko cosplayer or something like that. And i like that.
First off. I actually didn't mind the Lobo one shot all that much. Sure he wasn't the main man. I went in being all "Man, DC are such dicks. Can't even get Lobo right" which in some ways is true. The writer doesn't really understand what Lobo is. Would you have liked it if Lobo's name wasn't attached to it?
Second. Don't write off comics just because DC are stepping all over quality. There are still some fantastic series out there. It'd be silly to write the medium off as a whole based on DC.
The classic Lobo has to go, because he is a parody of the 90's, something that DC right now is…. "personifying", I guess that's the right word. I've heard some people say that this Lobo is parodying the current trends, but it's taking itself so seriously that I just don't see it.
The opening narration and the last page are basically messages to those who decry this version. It's Donte all over again.
Of course I don't see this lasting for long, maybe a series that will last two years with superstar artist Brett Booth. The writer who did the Lobo one shot is another one of Snyder's students. That's the third now, isn't it?
It's funny, 52 got me into comics and the New 52 is doing the opposite. Only thing it gave me was Azzarello's Wonder Woman. There are titles outside of the Big Two that I love, namely Orc Stain, but the delays are just killing me.
Honestly, the "imposter" isn't even dead yet so you guys should really chill out more. For all we know, the new and old Lobo may just coexist with eachother.
I don't know if you guys have had the chance to read it or have even heard about it, but Brian K Vaughan's new series, "The Private Eye," Is about as good as comics get. It uses the pay whatever you want model and you can download the first supersized five issues here: this is a hyperlink

! Let's hope this one doesn't end because of a deal with the devil.
I hope the break-up involves every appearance post Joe Kelly being retconned out of existence.
Why are text bubbles in comics so small now a days. The older ones had text bubble that where readable with out zooming in.

Holy shit, you have to teach me how to zoom in real life.
J/K
I guess some comics are more dialogue and story orientated now? I guess it depends in the comics. If you read Optic Nerve you are going to find small letter and even panels whereas an action comic wouldn't have that much.

American comics have always had smaller lettering fonts than manga… beyond that I can't think any comics that are reducing from the tried and true font size 6.
Can't read digital comics, atleast not Marvels.
That text bubble by bubble viewer that you have to use drives me crazy.
That's the best part.
Kinda sad to say this but I've never read an American comic up until now, I started The Walking Dead about a week or so ago and I am really enjoying it so far, currently on issue 10. I'm probably gonna be blowing through the series soon. Any recommendations on what I should check out afterwards? Preferably not anything superhero related, not that I have anything against them its just they are so damn intimidating to get into and I have no idea where to start.

Double tap on your tablet screen to take off guided view and just do page by page.
I was reading it on the phone actually. But maybe that works there as well
It works there too, at least on mine, but phone screens are so small that you can't really make out much of the text, especially in two page spreads
5 inch screens are more than enough for me to be able to read on
So I'm reading through Wonder Woman 157-158 (1965) and wow is Steve being an absolute dick here. First of all, asking your co-worker to pretend to be your gilfriend (mind you she is Wonder Woman in disguise but he doesn't seem to know that) is creepy enough, but then when she tells him Wonder Woman's waiting for him in the next room he grabs her by the arm and drags her behind him, saying he won't let go until he sees Wonder Woman.
I mean the 60's were a long time ago but I have a hard time buying anyone thought Steve's behaviour is anything less then aggressively obsessive back then either.
Made even worse by him saying how much he loves her and touching her face….again as far as he knows this is someone else, and I know he thinks he's going to die soon but Jesus man, you're supposed to have army training and be an officer.
I just got the first two issues of the new She-Hulk series. So far its pretty great.

So I just read the first book of the All-New X-Men. I quite liked it. Can anyone tell me if the events in that book take place before or after (or during) Battle of the Atom. If it isn't obvious I am fairly new to western superhero comics so please forgive my ignorance if it is face-palm inducing.

All-New X-Men vol. 1, 2 and 3
Uncanny X-Men vol. 1 and 2 (written by the same writer)
Battle of the Atom
All-New X-Men vol. 4
Uncanny X-Men vol. 3
The Trial of Jean Grey (which collects a crossover between ANXM and Guardians of the Galaxy)

That helps a lot, thanks. I was looking everywhere for a simple timeline like this.
Been reading Amazing spider man last couple of weeks, but out of order…I fin all of them except of flying blind and lizard no turning back. I also read vol 1 of superior spider man, not sure how much of that is there.
Also reading Indestructible Hulk
I just bought the first Marvel Masterworks paperback for the Avengers (basically, the first ten issues combined into one book), and I was wondering if there was anything similar for the Justice League. I've been meaning to learn more about DC, since the bulk of my knowledge is Batman and Superman, along with tiny bits of information about Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash.

Indestructible Hulk is great. I've read nine issues so far and I just finished Superior Spider-Man. Anyone else reading Original Sin? Also, what the fuck Marvel? http://www.comicvine.com/articles/first-look-hulk-vs-iron-man-1/1100-148891/
If you didn't read the article, all it basically says it that now Tony Stark was involved in Banner's transformation into the Hulk.
Is everyone here reading Sex Criminals and Saga? Cause you should. Also Sheltered and FBP
Saga is incredibly good.
Saga has nice coloring and is definitely good. But its only a couple volumes in, I feel it hasn't done anything amazing yet that warrants all the hype it gets. Aside from having sex and nudity in an american comic I guess?
Fables is great and coming to an end soon… but its had like a decade of run.
Invincible I'm really falling out of love with. It's just been... eh... for a while. Lots of gratuitous violence. It always had bloody fight scenes with consequences, but lately some things seem like they'r ebeing done entirely for shock and gross out value, and I'm just not a huge fan.

Oh man, don't remind me that Fables is ending. I get so sad. I feel that with Y: the last man they are the 2000's classics of Vertigo…or end of 90's? Shit, i don't know my release dates.
I stopped reading Invincible some issues after the Viltruvian war. Last number got me kinda interested...kiiiiiinda.
I also feel Saga is great for its interpersonal level. It will never have grand battles or earth shaking problems at its core.
Also, Everyone should read anything that Fantagraphics puts out. Yes, i'm talking to you person reading this. Also, you should buy them and gift them to me since they are so hard to come by in México :3
I don't know when I stopped reading Invincible. Kirkman is such a terrible writer. He can only wrote tragedy porn, gratuitous violence and his characters are barely characterized. There is no depth to them.
Yeah… it's one thing to have two supermen level fighters battling it out across the world and getting bloody... its another to have extreme closeups of heads being smashed in, or legs being severed, or whatever the hell else. I think it's felt downhill to me since around issue 100 maybe?
I'd argue that his characterization is at least decent, he's got some goods there.
The problem with Invincible was that the first battles were good not because of the graphic violence but how it complimented the history and helped deepen and understand the characters. I mean, Mark's fight with Conquest was great not just because of the violence but also how they interacted with each other and we got to see some of the first breaking points of Mark. But in the last numbers it's been more like "VIOLENCE!" "RAPE!" "BEHEADINGS!" without any of the characterization that was there earlier. I mean, Atom Eve was one of my favorite characters and now i hate her because she's a husk of the badass that she was. Ati first i thought Kirkman was just making fun of DC and Marvel but now i don't know. :/
But yeah, read Sheltered guys! And also Think Tank. And if Violence is your thing Luther Strode is also great (the first is awesome, the second one is meh and fan-pandering but it's good compared to other stuff).
You guys should check this out. Had me laughing for hours. http://www.nuzlocke.com/muhphoenix.php?p=1

It's ending ? What great timing , just when i was about to start reading it .

Isn't he critically acclaimed for The Walking Dead comics?!

Not really anymore. The comics took a turn to crap after the Prison arc, and have gotten exponentially worse every year. It's really become a series of "what disgustingly violent thing is going to happen next?"
Kirkman always said he never imagined to series lasting more than a few years, and after the prison he and pretty much used up all of his ideas, so he's just been making it up on the go. It's rather Kubo-esque.

What issue does that arc end at ? If you don't mind me asking that .
I have been really interested in reading The Walking Dead for quite some time but if the later arc's are crap then i'll just read the beginning ones and leave it .

Yes, I know about Invincible, but what about Walking Dead?

Why do people call Cyclops "Rightclops"?
The local comic book shop doesn't have the next of a series that i'm following and the online store doesn't carry it so i finally decided to download the cbr (i feel bad about it, really) but…well, the series is called Sex. So there's that. I hate you Joe Casey. I have to wade through so much porn and i still haven't found it.
I've refrained from making comments on this because I don't want to be targeted by the Tumblr Social Justice Brigade, but I am so against this. Change all the heroes you want to whatever you want, but I just don't understand how you can change the hero based off of actual mythology into a new gender. Thor is Thor.
Unless there's a plot reason in the comics, this is just a giant PR publicity stunt coated with heapings of pandering.

Basically Marvel deciding to stop dicking around (no pun intended) with the idea of Thor being replaced by females in non cannon stories and decided to basically make it reality in a canonical story.

Well, they had Changed Loki's sex already a long time ago right?
And Maybe it's the Mythological Thor that dressed as a Woman to be offered as a Wife to i don't remember who xD

Didn't know they did that with Loki. Was never a huge Thor fan so I am not even close to being caught up with the comics.

Thor is still Thor. It's just that a woman is now worthy of Mjolnir. This might explain why the future version of him in Avengers World had a sword instead.

So then she isn't just a gender-bent Thor? She's going to be her own character? If so, rad. That's something I can get behind.
Yeah, she's an entirely new character, newest one worthy of the title of Thor… not a genderbender.
Looks like Thor isn't the only one getting replaced
