Fairy Taint Discussion II

I hope Gerard is in the movie.
Erza will get kidnapped. Natsu and friends will then acquire the help of Gerard to save their beloved titania. I can write fairy tail too woo hoo.
-
Nah Rave was so generic I really see it as the textbook go to generic shonen manga if you're ever wondering a manga is getting too mature.
-
Y'know I would commit on how you folks dont seem to give Rave a chance. But really there no point. If your grasping at straws to hate FT, I doubt anything I say will change your mind.
Still congrats on FT getting a movie.

I don't know, most people are saying it's just more generic than anything, while not that bad, doesn't make it good either.
Plus you have people calling it a masterpiece, which just hurts the pro-Rave side.

I've read it, I admit it's leagues better then FT, but even I have to admit it's nothing amazing.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Probably be like all Shonen manga movies. Come up with a villain, a set of henchmen, and an hour-and-a-half plot to justify the heroes beating them up.
Well the anime has made some hilarious filler episodes, even if I haven't actually watched the full filler arc they made.
So I kinda hope they try to make it funny as well as "ACTION !!!" filled.
-
Except that it makes the C-listers look really pathetic, not being able to stand up to obvious jobbers like Twilight Ogre (extortionists always job to the heroes). Hell they aren't even trying to find the others, fucking Pegasus did it. Right now they all look like pathetic hanger ons, rather than the ultra bad-ass guild they are supposed to be a part of.
some people just bash to just bash. if you're gonna bash, please think for a while. you really think they haven't tried to look for them? they probably tried, and lost hope. they're also shattered by the loss of half the guild (unlike pegasus). and as one of the posters said, they probably don't have the materials/equipment to look for them (unlike pegasus w/c clearly have more advanced magic/tech). those are some reasons "fucking Pegasus" did it.
if you lost someone in your family, you'll really look and feel pathetic. you'll be depressed and will bury yourself in some deep shit, just like this FT did. we can say that 7 years is long enough to move on, but if you buried yourself in some really deep shit, you can't climb up easily.
you can be a bad-ass once, but if something happen to you, that might change. so just think before you bash. i can take bashing w/ valid reason, but not bashing to just bash.
-
Well, there is a valid reason for Jet and Droy, at least. Even with Levy's help, Gajeel single-handedly beat and crucified all three of them back during the Phantom Lord Arc. In Edolas, their counterparts are the strongest members of the guild, so that says a lot about their abilities.
-
Hopefully it's more like a filler arc than the OVA.
And I guess this confirms that everyone's coming back, and probably nothing will have really changed by August.

Soooooooooooooo…...no change i see...

Well, this is crap.
Everyone predicted it and really, it was the only possible outcome
but it's still crap. -
Yep, totally pointless.

What kind of foul inhumanity could they contain ?!
-
How much predictable can this series turn…
-
Not only Mashima can't even do a proper time skip, he can't do a proper retrieval arc either.
-
And guess who's the fairy? Mavis Vermillion, I knew it.
At least this makes sense, that the Fairy Tail guild had its origin in a real fairy.

It's kinda of dumb how Makarov said that whether fairies have tails or not is an eternal mystery or whatever, when the guild's 1st master was a fairy.
-
Hahahahahahaha even junk like bleach had a better time skip and that says it all.
Really, Mashima fails at every aspect of Shonen manga.
Now its time to rename this thread Fairy Fail -
None of them look any older….
-
Welp. I guess I this really will be the deciding factor for if I keep reading after this chapter. I rarely drop a manga, but maybe it's time lol.
-
Jesus Christ. Just… this is low even for Mashima.
-
And if they know about the 8 years thing and are still gonna be like "I trust our friends to be alright" I'll both puke and laugh at the same time, due to how cheesy and, in hindsight to last chapter, wrong it is.
-
Fucking hell. I'm assuming that they were probably stuck in the same kinda timezone or something then, if not then that's bollocks. Also, if Kubo does a better time-skip than you, then your series is shite.
-
I hate reader manipulation like that. This is straight up there with Pell. It's like the author said: "See, the main cast is all gone, isn't it sad? and then a chapter later just followed it up with "Just kidding, nothing has changed, they are all OK!" Well, maybe the full chapter reveals something, but so far this timeskip was pretty unnecessary, only there to make the readers get the next chapter and/or volume.
-
Why are you guys talking about a timeskip? This isn't one.
-
-
@No:
Read last chapter.
Yeah I read last chapter and it was that chapter that makes it clearly obvious that this isn't a timeskip, this spoiler just makes it 99% true.
-
The island got moved to a paralel universe called "Fairy Land" & it takes them 8 years to move it back.
-

It said 7 years later. They talked about the gap of time in the last chapter lol. Sadly it's the most pointless time skip probably ever written.
-
lol just saw the spoiler pics. Filler timeskip.
-
Yeah, I'm not even going to make an attempt at defending this - I can't see any upside to this situation. From what I can tell, there wasn't much purpose in skipping forward seven years if the main cast was going to remain the same age regardless and the whole issue of them being stuck in some other dimension or whatever was solved in less than a chapter.
Fucking hell. I'm assuming that they were probably stuck in the same kinda timezone or something then, if not then that's bollocks. Also, if Kubo does a better time-skip than you, then your series is shite.
As bad as this time-skip may have been, there was at least a small amount of build-up to it. With Bleach, it was like "Hey, we beat Aizen. TWO YEARS LATER", with no build-up or foreshadowing. Admittedly, saying that something's better than Bleach isn't saying much, but still.
-

Iceborg's right, this isn't a timeskip. In a timeskip, things actually change. This is just the main characters being away on vacation and coming back. Literally nothing has changed for the characters or the world. It's 7 years older, big whoop. Has the world undergone an extreme shift in power, has the government changed, has a major event progressed? No, the only notable change is the guild fell to pieces which can easily be fixed in two seconds flat now that everyone came back.

No, the Fairy Tail timeskip is worse. The Bleach timeskip was equally pointless but at least it came at a logical point in the story with the villain being defeated and the hero returning to his daily life. It wasn't shoe-horned in at the last second in the last two pages of a chapter in the middle of a random giant dragon attack.
-
May well be one of the most pointless "timeskips" in recent memory, if it's true.
Even more purposeless than Bleach's. So, every character in the world is aged up except the main cast? This may as well be a time travel arc. Yikes.
Fairy Tail: SYL arc.
Bring on the box weapons.
-
And colored flames in a greyscale manga.
-
So nothing…nothing at all has changed?
Really?
It's a good thing I'm not paying for this!
-
Hmm, did Laxus always have such short hair or am I seeing things?
-
I looked the the pics. Yeah. I'm still laughing and those that thought this was an actual timeskip.
It's Reborn Future Arc.
Or the shooting of a new Back to the Future movie. Director: Hiro Mashima
If not, it would not make much of a difference if they did return to their original timeline. Because… you know? The setting in FT is plain and there's very little world building to take notice or care about.
-

And the only characters that aged are background characters who've had between 1 to no lines.
Seriously, how could Hiro fuck this up in one chapter and then completely destroy it in the next ?
Or what, was Magazine afraid the little kidies would freak out their favourite walking shounen stereotype Natsu could actually die ?
-
Yep Hiroy got it(Silence was close).

I still don't understand the dislike of Reborn's future arc. I didn't think they'd age as we saw them swap places with their future selves. Not really a time skip but just time travel.
But I agree with the Fairy Tail time skip saying 7 years later seemed fairly pointless. I don't get why he wouldn't take the chance to redesign his main cast. Aging the nobodies of the guild was pointless if next chapter, bam main cast is back, no changes. Whatever pocket dimension they were in time doesn't change? Or at least time crawls enough to make no difference.
So their guild is less awesome, and some kid never smiles, two characters I don't remember got married, some guy got fat. Things really do change…The 7 years thing better be tied in with something important other wise the skip forward could have been any number. 3 weeks. 8 months. Anything.
-
Are we supposed to care for that kid?
-
Well this is fairly pointless
I wonder if the cast is going to go back in time -
worst shonen manga series of all time
-
"Well, all the other shonens had time skips… I want to have one too! What do you mean, change the cast designs?"
-
If the guild just trucks along as if nothing happened, everything is completely and utterly pointless.
If the future has gone awry and the guild needs to be sent back in time, then this is Edoras all over again, and will have equal sized mountains of wasted potential.
Scratch that, there will be wasted potential regardless. -
"Yeah, we're in a place where magic doesn't work, so we have to use rare magical items with limited amounts of uses and manage our resources… oh wait no, magic works. Nevermind."
-
Lol, nice title change. But I dunno, Fairy Fail has a better ring to it albeit it's more predictable.
