Lol Its not air that makes the path. It´s Ivankov´s DEATH WINK!
Chapter 587 "I will not run!" Discussion
-
-
Ambition blast only works on fodder. Using it on top tier fighters is a waste of time. It also can't be a low level ambition ability then every haki user would be using it. People who know about haki seem to shit bricks whenever a haki user uses it. So if it is a generic haki ability (which points to not fucking likely) it'll be at least considered a high level haki ability.
-
Reread the chapter and actually just noticed that BlueJam was unaffected by Ace's Haki so I don't know if that goes to show how strong he is or how weak Ace's Haki was at the time…
-
He's most likely strong. Dadan and her men were hyping him up.
-
With Dragon appearing and being so heavily invested in Luffy's flash back even if it is more in the back ground, I feel Oda is setting us up for a present time Dragon Luffy reunion very soon.
-
Good chapter.
Sabo's dream is to be free right? That means as soon as he can do what he wants, his dream is achieved. That's why I think he might up being a slave, because it's too early for his dream to be accomplished. But that would be a waste of potential for a strong kid like Sabo. And if Sabo is as strong as Ace, then he would have made it to the New World for sure, and Ace would have learnt of his existence.
So… Sabo either gets captured by the Tenryuubito, killed by them in front of everyone, killed whilst being a pirate or is alive under another name so Ace never met him or recognised his name.
-
Someone still doubts Sabo is dead?
Someone still doubts Sabo is alive?
Oh, wow, schrodinger's cat. I never thought I see the origins of that here.
Dragon has to grow transporter snails for his undercover army. Somebody got to do it, but i think this is the first time I see casual Dragon.
-
Aye, you people miss some of the most obvious hints at what's going on. Why did Luffy say Ace was his only brother in the whole wide world? You people come to a natural conclusion thinking that Sabo is in fact dead, and while that is possible, it is not the only outcome. There is one other way that Luffy will think Ace is his only brother yet Sabo still lives, and it's not as absurd as some other theories.
Ace has told Luffy countless times to "forget about Sabo." If Sabo comes back, great, but if not, he found happiness elsewhere. The best thing for Ace and Luffy to do for Sabo right now was to forget about him. Now, for Ace that would be a little harder, hence the tattoo on his arm in remembrance of a forgotten brother. Luffy, however, is only seven. It is quite conceivable that he did indeed forget about Sabo considering his character. Luffy does whatever Ace asks of him.
Yes, it's quite possible that Sabo dies before the flashback ends, but that just doesn't add up story-wise. Unless Luffy sees Sabo's death firsthand, it won't help him cope with the issues in the present time. However, if a traumatized Luffy remembers a brother he had forgotten, he'll have a drive to get him out of his slump caused by Ace's death. Ultimately, this flashback needs to press Luffy's character forward without negating the last two arcs, and Sabo is the one who will resolve it in some way or another.
-
The way the nobles are depicted is quite poor. Seriously, it is just… it looks like a kid is writing this.
However, Dragon's group saved the chapter for me (and basically, it is the only good thing in this flashback so far. Maybe Bluejam could be a good thing as well). And great to see Kuma there with him and Ivankov.
Next week, though, I expect Sabo dying in a tearjacker way that I hope will not look like a desperate attempt to get the reader simpathy like it was with Oars Jr. Oh, and the Tenryuubito depicted in a very unrealistic way, like there is only "evilness" runing on their veins.
-
At this point I'm expecting only one more chapter of the flashback. Probably just something about Ace and Dadan and then back to AL by the end of the chapter. Ready for this to be over. It's good and all, just really hoping to see what else is going on. Also it's weird that Ace knows Sabo's flag, so something has to happen there.
-
Who's to know that Ace, much like Luffy, still doesn't know how to harness this ability. The only users revealed to us thus far with Haki powers in general were all veterans who have been pirating for much longer than Ace..
Ace has been shown to be much more aware than Luffy, even in their childhood. Having Ace possess the ability now when he's 10 years old, means that later when he's 20 and has had 10 years to develop it to some degree, we should see glimpses of it. I don't think this is a ridiculous request.
Now, for all we know. Ace does know how to use it, and just chose not to. Perfectly understandable. I just expressed my small reaction to us (the readers) not having seen Ace use the ability on-panel even once.
And again, even if he could use his Haki powers, much like a lot of other stuff about Ace, Oda doesn't really seem to care about it. Oda concentrates on Ace's personality and impact on Luffy much more in the story than his ability's, pirating career, and now his Haki. Apparently Oda doesn't think its necessary for us to know these things…
You've hit the proverbial nail on the head, and I bet you don't even know it
I have a feeling that "making people faint" is the weakest Ambition use. We know Shanks and Rayleigh use it, but […] Ambition is a powerful ability, but not the ultimate technique. We can just assume that Ace and Whitebeard were using it in their fights, but since they were fighting guys that are really strong, we readers couldn't tell the difference most of the time.
I wasn't arguing the dynamics of using ambition, or about its strengths and weaknesses. I also wasn't calling it an ultimate technique.
However, you are correct. It is true that Ace could have been using it during some of his fights unbeknown to us readers. Yet, it seems that whenever others are using ambition, there's always a hint at its usage. Am I wrong in this assumption?
-
What Luffy said in some chapter about Ace is his only brother can still be true even without Sabo dying, because Ace and Luffy apparently spend like 5 more years as brothers living in Goa and Sabo was only there for a couple of months (with luffy).
Maybe Sabo is a nakama and not a brother to Luffy?
-
This chapter was great. The Revolutionary Army saving the Trash Mountain people, Sabo becoming a pirate (for at least this brief moment). Yeah, no wonder Luffy thought Ace was dead in this flashback.

Thank you, kind sir! :cwy:
-
Hope to see in next year character tournament: Dadan vs Belmer.
That would be epic!! -
Just re-reading the chapter. I found it interesting when Dragon said he would change the world, and then said "children are born, even in countries like this" in reference to Sabo. So Dragon must have noticed Sabo's strong will, and acknowledges that he may be the one that will largely assist the change in the world. He's got to be alive.
-
i agree on iva-chan's death wink for the path….
I also have a feeling that next chapter or the one after we'll see sabo's death from the Celestial Dragons...
the fact that luffy already knows about them as suspected in this page:
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/497/16/
i think is the most rational of theoriesalso goes to show how much potential ace had…
-
Oda most likely knew about Sabo's character going by Ace's tattoo…
So this means that he knew of Sabo when Luffy said Ace was his only brother, I think in the next two chapters Oda will tell us why Luffy has either forgotten or forcibly put Sabo out of his mind...
Its amazing how time and time again how Oda proves he has always had a general idea of were the story was going and can plan this far ahead back in Arabasta...
-
I wonder how Kuma's non robo eyes look like…
-
Amazing Chapter. The thing is, the ending was "too happy", i mean, Sabo smiling and sailing in his little boat, with his modest pirate flag, in a happy day IN THE DAY THE TENRYUUBITOS WERE GOING THERE. I think they'll encounter him and : Enslave him or kill him.
I would really like, though, Sabo´s appearance in the current storyline. -
So Kuma made an Ursa Shock to create a way amidst the flames, so cool.
and what's with the DF like designs sprouting everywhere. hehe
-
It's weird to see Kuma without his bible. Actually, he looks kind of like a cultist with that hood, ironically enough.
Strangely enough, Dragon's entire revolutionary army reminds me of Harry Potter's Death Eaters:
Dragon=Voldemort
Ivankov=Bellatrix Lestrange
Kuma=Fenrir GraybackI doubt there's any significance to this, but the parallels between the "magical hooded armies" are just too strong to ignore.
-
I read the chapter and found it pretty damn good. Loved how Kuma made an appearance and how Dragon saved the people of the Grey Terminal. Also I'm glad Sabo sets sail but for how long? I want him to live but he could very well die. And I want to see where Ace and Dadan went.

things that happen /=
Thanks for the links

What is wrong with the "They think they are fucking special and everyone else is trash"?
-
Yes, I always knew Kuma was a revolutionary! I'm so glad this chapter confirmed what I've been saying for the last 2 years! (even though Ivankov kinda did that for me during the war)
-
Not a bad chapter. Raises a lot of questions. I really hope Oda ties things together in the next few chapters. I'd like to see how he handles these things…
I also hope Sabo lives, so we can see a future appearance. And I'd like an update on what the OP world is like now. I'm sure Luffy's bounty will have another boost, and I always love those little side chapters where they show what's going on around the world.
-
Can everyone just fucking stop talking about Hairy Pothead for a change? That shit ain't even related to mangas and is so damn generic and unnecessary long that it can be compared to any kind of situation in any kind of story!
The design of Dragon's ship is pretty decent, more of a close up would have made it much greater tho… well, maybe next chapter.
Bluejam pisses me off, i hope Dadan rapes him with joy!
And Sabo hopefully manages to survive somehow and becomes part of the revolutionarys!
Pretty mediocre One Piece chapter, but i see big moments on the horizon for the next one!
-
Awesome chapter
I disagree with Kishido, it wouldn't make much sense for Sabo to die, unless his death triggers a lot of things regarding the history.
But I doubt it -

'the hell? Seriously, do you know what you're saying? explain to me please.

Now that's one bad comparison.

What the fuck.
That's the stupidest comparison I've ever heard.

I dont think Sabo will die in the flashback after Oda let him say words like "What is freedom? Where can I find it?"
Another reason why Sabo cannot die is because Sabo-Dragon re-union has to take place sometime before he dies because Dragon says "I wont forget your words."
And moreover he is not in the way of Tenryobitu. People are just staring at clear/plain sea.
-

I'm thinking the Reunion has already happened and we will see it in the flashback..
Theory: Dragon's ship will come in at the last moment and kill the Celestial Dragons to save Sabo, forever making Sabo in-debt to him and he becomes a Revolutionary. And in the following chaos, Luffy and Ace "see" Sabo dying along with the Nobles….
-
I don't know, Dragon's ship left days ago. I don't know if he'll come back but then again I also don't know how he got to be the greatest enemy of the WG and killing a Tenryuubito or 2 would do it. But I just don't think Oda is gonna go there. Also I'm guessing the flashback will end after about 2 more chapters.
-
I'm jumping on the Sabo's gonna die bandwagon. Rereading 574 made me realize we haven't seen Ace give his promise to not die to Luffy. I could see Ace promise that to Luffy after Sabo dying sadly.
On a different note, where was it stated that Ace's tattoo was just a mistake? Is that real or just
an Internet legend? -

Yeah the previous chapter's final sentence "Dragon, the preparations are ready baby" hints at something major being done by dragon but killing tenryobitu right in front of so many people is not Dragon's style I feel.
Moreover if he had killed Tenryo 10 yrs back, he would have become most wanted by the time "Thalazza Lucas" mentioned his name during King's gathering.
And the Goa King's face mystery is killing me!!
-
it just hit me but that now we have confirmation that ace have haki. it explain why he was able to seemingly hurt luffy in this page
!
does it mean that ace already know how to use haki when he was a child. -
I wonder if Sabo will be a villain sometime later. I think it would be cool to see Luffy fight someone he used to be "brothers" with and thought he was dead or something.
-

does it mean that ace already know how to use haki when he was a child. He probably did and didn't even realize it. Though Luffy does love to question how people can hurt him when he is rubber, maybe this time he just didn't.
-
He probably just chalked it up to the fact that Ace is stronger because he's older. Also, the cover page was great if for no other reason then Dragon's absolute seriousness as he waters the snails.
-
Oh wow, so the crossed out S on Ace's arm may have been in reference to Sabo.
That's great. That always annoyed me because for years I thought Ace had made a typo on his own tattoo.
-
This kills all the who has haki and who doesn't arguments because ace had it since he was little and never showed any signs of it.
Croc can have it Moria , Buggy anyone really.
-
Was Kuma on the ship with Dragon or am I crazy?
-
Was Kuma on the ship with Dragon or am I crazy?
no it definitely looked like kuma.
So what are the odds Sabo gets killed next chapter cause he is flying a pirate flag and the celestial dragons have been know to kill random people for no reason at all?
-
Yes, I always knew Kuma was a revolutionary! I'm so glad this chapter confirmed what I've been saying for the last 2 years! (even though Ivankov kinda did that for me during the war)
Ivankov confirmed it for you during the war…
-
holy shit..i never thouhgt about that crossed out S being linked to sabo…......
-
And, once again, Sabos destiny change!! This week he has two chances, he is superdead or he is a tenryuubito slave. If Oda keep ongoing with this game, next week We will be thinking Sabo is a tenryuubito, and in two weeks we will be sure he is a revolutionary, then again he will have to die.
Seriously people, Oda is playing with all of us with this thing, and some of you have fallen for his trick (Kishido..). Just be patient and wait until the flashback ends, you dont need to post every 2 post the same exact opinion again, and again, and again…
