It would be at least $100 for a Season set.
I am just excited when I order Collection 1.
I need to send some trade ins to Amazon, and will use the credit to get collection 1.
Funimation dvd discussion II ( UPDATED 8/4/12, FIRST POST FOR F.A.Q)

@Gentleman:
I think they check for availability of an order every two weeks, so backtrack in your inbox to the last "We're Working on it" e-mail and add two weeks to that total. I'm somewhat bummed because according to that math, I won't be getting mine until at least Saturday.
So I take it if I preordered it now it wouldn't end up shipping out any earlier? I was contemplating placing an order from them today, but I figured the opportunity for getting it before 07/26 was gone.
-
Cool to see that the Collections are shipping out. Can't wait to see mines.

This dark and sexy release from the fantastical anime series DANCE IN THE VAMPIRE BUND includes all 12 episodes of the show, following the story of Mina Tepe?, the ruler of the vampires, and her protector Akira….......
Huh? I'm sorry, you kind of lost me there… you do know this is a One Piece forum right!?
-
Pretty sure this guys a bot. His posts are all crazy and seem automated.
-
Am I the only one disturbed by that video? The guy who made it sounded like he had you tied up in his basement.
-
WHoever here is buying the new sets do you have the old 13 episode voyages sets too. Cuz I'm not buying both sets. I just purchased almost all but 1 of the 13 voyage sets and it cost a #*$& load.
-
I think as tradition we should watch that guys unboxing of all the subsequent collections.
-

No, I don't think you're alone on that one. I kinda got a Poughkeepsie Tapes vibe from the video too. I mean, yeah it was cool to see a somewhat good look at the packaging and the discs, but the atmosphere was kinda off…plus that ending was just :wassat:. Seriously, as soon as the picture for the cover was made official, it was obvious it was taken from the S1V2 cover art, yet he just badmouthed Funimation.

Yeah, it's called promotional art and it doesn't come cheap. At the very least, the disc art is different. If they all had been recycled Voyage discs, I'd have been worried aboput the overall health of the series.
-
Crap I wasn't first but I now have my copy. Season 4 news soon or the Princess gets the duct tape and put in the basement.
I never really looked beyond the picture of Luffy but the font for one piece in the upper right is different and it's on the spine. Kind of weird but I do like it.
I don't have the first collection so can't compare. Commentary on episode 1 and 17 I'm assuming it's the same commentary as the first release. 4 disks in a regular plastic case with flip diskholder inserts. Pretty nice I'd say. Takes up less space on my already crowded shelf.

-
Menus and commentary are the same as the original release. Nothing new I'm afraid.
The 4th disk menu actually says the old season one second voyage disk 2 in the menu. heh -

I never bought any of the voyages because I was hoping for a collection thing. I'm glad I waited!

I own all of the Voyage sets and still bought Collection One. I don't know if I'll get Collection 2…I'd like to think that by the time that is released this Fall we'll have some kind of news on the future of the series.
-

it was pretty obvious that it was going to be a rehash of the same materiel

-
Since it's all the same i won't be double dipping for a while then. I do like the case tho and it would take less room >.<
The voyages ive kept the case's in great condition but it dosent stop them from ageing or starting to bend etc =/Got a boxset box i ordered today and had an idea.
Box - got this for £5!
Result - Fits all the current voyages, sturdy box, roughly the same size as all the cases going along you save 2 dvd set worth of space.!
So might buy another one to actually do this. i have a spare color walk 2 so i could make it more One Piece related.
-
After much consideration I've come to the conclusion that I will buy the Collections as well as the Voyages. It's probably better that way too, since they're so cheap and last much longer than the cardboard boxes with the Voyages, which are currently wearing and tearing.
-

The 4th disk menu actually says the old season one second voyage disk 2 in the menu. hehI just got mine in today, and I have to say that I'm incredibly disappointed overall. The cover art designers did a superb job (to the point where I based our new logo partially off of that design). However, the DVD menus are recycled, even the trailers are recycled. This is the epitome of lazy, which I guess is what FUNi says we get for the price we pay. Overall though, considering how nice the box is, this set is a huge disappointment…worth the money, though, if you don't have it already.

I still don't understand why people are surprised at this. Funi has done this for quite a while now. Hell, I had recently purchased the School Rumble: Most Awesomest Collection set and all the disc content was recycled despite the new, pretty disc art. For example, for the season 2 portion, the disc menus had the "Season 2 Part 1 Disc 1" and so on, on the menu despite the new set and what the discs said. It's like what the above statement says…these sets are great for those who waited or couldn't get them when they could, and they're at more than affordable prices.

Same as DemonkickSanji said. I saw this coming from a mile away and knew that Funi was going to do that. They did the same with Bamboo Blade: Complete Collection where I knew they recycled the trailers and such. To tell the truth I was surprise Funi didn't just put in the voyages disc in there. Then again that would have been super lazy. Then again as mention you get what you pay for and these discs are a bargain. If anything this is a great way to get new fans into One Piece or at least get the people who are fans that haven't bought them. (Or they would now say that the quality is bad because they recycled the same stuff from the voyages.)
I wonder what would happen scratch off the paint of these disc? Would you find the brown paint from the first voyages? haha
-
Yeah, I thought we all knew before hand this was just going to be as recycled as possible. If it saves time and money, FUNi's going to do it.
-
Wow, not hearing much good here.
I dislike hearing that there was the "Voyage" title in the menu, that is the worst thing so far.
But if these aren't cardboard and are using plastic slipcovers, I will be purchasing.
Can anyone who has it confirm it is plastic slipcover and not cardboard? -
@Zach:

This is what I figure the collections are for in the first place anyway.

To be honest, this comes as no surprise or disappointment to me. My Anime Classics Last Exile collection still has the trailers for Romeo and Juliet from the original series box set. To be honest, I would have only complained about this set if the discs still said First and Second Voyage on them.
-

You and me both. I'm surprised to see people angry at this. It really doesn't bother me at all, even though I own all the Voyages.
-
I hope the part about the DVD menus saying "Voyage" is a mistake. It better be a mistake.

I think people are making mountains out of molehills here, I mean, just stop for a moment and think about what the word "collection" means…

Exactly…these sets are "collections" of "voyages." The sets are inexpensive, come with a lot of episodes, retain the commentaries, and has all the OP goodness we all love. Stop with the complaining already and accept these releases for what they are...re-releases.
-

"Funimation reused box-art? Faggots….Funimation....you're faggots"
^what these complaints reminded me of. Seriously, what were you guys expecting?
-
They're pissed off because they spent money on the exact same thing most of them already have. It's only $20 bucks guys. If this thing were supposed to be completely re-done it would cost a lot more. In the end you payed for exactly what you got; a cheaper re-release of sets people missed out on due to tight wallets. I never expected an amazing redesign on everything included for so low of a price.
I only bought this Collection to see what it was like and if I liked them. I probably won't be purchasing the subsequent releases.
-
Is there any quality difference between the Collection and the voyages?
Could someone please answer this? -

Nope. No difference :P…......
Then isn't that all that really matters? LOL
Glad to hear it. One I get my Amazon trade in credit, I will order the collection. If I am lucky I should be able to order it around/on the 26th. -
I will have a tough choice to make in July 2012. Thats when my guestimation of volume 6 collection will be released. It will overlap with my season 3 sets that I already have. Either buy the set and get the fillers during episdoe 131-143 or forget the fillers and stop collecting. Or buy them and sell my season 3 sets. hmmm.
-
I'll buy both the voyages and collections, despite the lazy re-releases. Though I'll probably never buy a collection of a voyage I already have for over 20$. -I'll wait for a sale somewhere.
I don't think anyone is seriously 'making mountains out of molehills', but I understand why people are disappointed that their menu doesn't have the title of their purchase, but the titles of another dvd with the same material. That is certainly somewhat disappointing. It would make me feel better about buying the same thing twice if the dvd's weren't EXACTLY the same… it seems a bit cheap/tacky/lazy. But I suppose that's what this rerelease is - cheap.
And to whoever asked about plasic slipcase- I'm 95% certain that it's cardboard, I've never seen such a slim plastic slipcase, and the video helps to prove that thought.
-
I can't wait for my collection one to arrive. I'm a fairly new fan to the series (about a year) and I feel really lucky that these re-releases are coming out now! Already got the second collection pre-ordered.
-
Evans-Pritchard your in for a treat if you never saw the Arlong Arc. It's great. You'll be able to watch it in the 2nd volume collection.
Anyways when is that anime expo coming up? The one where we might find out about season 4 getting dubbed by funimation? The end of the July or something right? I hope they mention somehting about season 4 there. I will buy all of season 4 this show is that great.
Also I ordered Naruto on amazon.com recently and watched the first 7 episodes and I thought I would like the show as good as One Piece but I was hugely dissappointed. Naruto so far is medicore. Does it get better later on? Thanks
-
I don't see why people were expecting it to be any different. They whole point of these collection sets are for A) people who didn't buy before because of high priced sets with only 13 episodes and B) people that will….well collect.
They don't have to be spectacular, just provide fans another option to the voyages.

Anime Expo is done, we have to big conventions this week and next, so maybe we will hear something then.
-
Doesn't Funimation have a panel at Comic Con in about 3 hours? Couldn't we hear something then?
-
The FUNimation Industry Panel is at 3-4PM Pacific Standard Time.
God, I hate west coast cons.

First of all, relax man. It'll happen when it happens and if it doesn't, there's always next time. At this rate, we probably won't be getting Season 4 this year even if an announcement appears this very second. Second, FUNimation is holding an Industry Panel at San Diego Comic-Con in about three hours. Don't hold your breath about it though, FUNimation hasn't made any major licensing announcements there since Vexile in 2007 and I have a feeling the trend isn't going to buck any time soon. Otakon is going on next week, and while no announcements have been made as to when the industry panel is, my best guess would be on Saturday some time between the hours of noon and 3pm. If it happens, that's when I think it'll be.
Second, Naruto gets pretty good in the second major arc the Chuunin Exams, then it dips quite a bit and plateaus for the next arc and it gets promising for its final arc before completely crashing and burning during the 95 episode Filler Arc of Death. Character development ground to a halt and had worse continuity than a Saturday morning cartoon. Don't bother with Shippuden.EDIT: Alright, pack it up ladies and gentlemen. Dragon Ball Z on blu-ray and the Dragon Age movie were the only two announcements. We'll meet back here next week for Otakon.

Funi is officially in negotiating more dubbed op eps correct?

Aleast thats some good news.
