Is cute fun, and its sweet an innocent and fun to watch as the little 4 year old goes around doing 4 year old stuff, and the art is great butā¦ nothing happens and the characters are a little bland. Its nowhere near as good as the authors previous work, Azumangah Diaoh.
But then, Diaoh was fantastic, so the author set a high standard to compare himself to.
If Yotsuba was his first series, I might like it better. But instead its kind of like the adventures of Chiyo-chan minus the other 5 girls. ANd its already several volumes longer that Azumangah was, as well...

Never saw the allure of Azumanga but then again I only saw the first episode of the anime. Maybe that wasn't enough?

It gets better. Like, much better. In fact, Azumanga is one of the few series I've ever rated 10/10.
ā¦So of course, due to that, I went and picked up the Yotsuba-manga, and while I can't say it causes me to laugh out loud every other second like Azumanga Daioh does, (though this might also have something to do with the format, as I'm more of an anime-fan than a manga-fan) it's still both hilarious and really, really cute, and it didn't take me long to collect all 6 volumes that have been released in English so far. If they ever decide to make an anime of this, I'll definitely watch it.

I never really watch/read Azumanga Daioh. I might read it now. I only saw the first episode of Azumanga Daioh. I really do like the Yanda with the interaction of the characters. Thought I have to say my favorite character would be Koiwai, just for his back laid attitude.

Azumanga is one of the few perfect series out there, that accomplishes so much is just 4 volumes/26 episodes/1 omnibus. The first bit is just introductory, so yes, obviously its not as good as the later stuff.
I'm, not saying Yotsuba is bad, its just much more of a slow burn with a lot less going on.

I actually wonder about Yotsuba's past and how she met Mr. Koiwia. ((I do know when he was over seas, but I would like more back ground on it.)) I do kind of agree with robbybevard, it is slow but I think the reason is that is a manga that you don't really have to read at the begening and can jump in anytime. So it could be a manga for the casual reader.

One of my favorite comedy mangas with azumanga daioh and cromartie highschool. Humor is great and cute and sometimes I'm wondering why am I laughing and that I think is great. Allthou I do favor Azumanga daioh but Youtsuba is amazing.

Quick update with Chapter 63 out for a short while:
Yotsuba&! is finally out on Onemanga.com as of today, after years of not being on there. You might say to yourself, "So what? It's on other manga reader sites like Mangafox." Well, Onemanga isn't web-blocked for me at work, so this is important to me and to other people who can't go on message boards at work.
Hence why I don't post as often anymore. Anyways, I still wish Revoltech would re-release the original Danboard figure, and not have a "limited" edition Amazon.co.jp or 7-Eleven version. I just want my normal looking Danboard without having to pay over $100 on ebay. >.<

It's the kind of manga that you'd get lost in by just staring at the pretty atmosphere. The volumes are worth buying solely for staring at the artwork.

There's not really much to discuss about Yotsuba, except that it's really charming and relaxing and Fuuka is a miracle of the universe.

Got into this about three years ago and I still follow it. I love the art and the nostalgic feeling of being a kid growing up with a single parental figure. The current chapters had kinda exited about the possibility of explaining Yotsuba's origins, but I'm kinda disappointed that it's still gonna be just one of those ambiguous mysteries.
I suggest anyone that likes Yotsuba to read Barakamon as well. Been buying the volumes since the main scan group from before dropped it after it was licensed. They are kind of similar in many ways, but has better balancing of a bigger cast. Not that Yotsuba needs the latter to be a very compelling series.

Seriously, I absolutely adore every single characters in this manga.
Fuuka is awesome neighbor.
Mr. Koiwai is awesome dad.
Ena and Miura are good and considerate friends of Yotsuba.
Mr and Mrs Ayase, and Miura's mom is great.
Shaggy beard is a hilarious guy.
Asagi is amazing. Tora is cool and sexy.
Shimau is great friend of Fuuka.
Jumbo and Yanda are kind hearted, gentle funny men.
The latest addition, Grams is one badass lady. She's stylish and funny and yet has the wise authority.Of course Yotsuba is just super for me.
Just the right bit of everything. Even when she's crying I can't get enough of her.And yet, these characters are all someone who can actually exist in this world.
The relationships and characteristics are believable and realistic.
I have no doubt that there's a kid like Yotsuba.Man I just love this manga so much. Might be my favorite.

One thing I always liked is how the art style slowly evolved. Looking at volume 1, Yotsuba (who is 5/6) looked to be as tall as Chiyo-chan (who was 10-12). Then the proportions changed to make it look like a younger child. Although it took me a while to get used to the lack of whites in the eyes.
Tyrano pretty much nailed it on the head about the characters, me thinks.

Nice addition to the list of Koiwai family.
Based on the translation I've read, it appears as if she doesn't really refer Yotsuba as Koiwai's daughter when talking to him.
Looking forward to more interactions with her in the next chapter.
