to me it seems like aizen had no fear before, and that was what he was missing i guess to transform.
thus gin's purpose in the story was to ALMOST kill aizen and make him for once fear for his life

I have no idea about Gin's motivations though it just made no sense.

You know, there's probably been worse "face turns" (I hate using a wrestling term, but it fits) in the history of shonen, but still. Gin, you cut a kid in half (yeah, shinigami I know) in the middle of your quest to get back at Aizen cause he was mean to Rangiku as a kid.
Gin is scum, he deserves death, and for him to be say, revived and become an "good guy" would be a massive injustice. If he comes back you better do the same for Tousen, cause as worthless as his character is it accomplished a little more then Gin.
And Ichigo made me realize at the end of this chapter, this manga really isn't made for someone like me, as I've never had the urge to paint me fingernails black.
