He never made the deal, it was all a lie. There was a lot of confusion at first in the spoiler thread about that but it got cleared up there.

There was never any deal in the first place. It was all a lie, they used to play on Squad's hatred for Roger.
Also, i'm glad we finally got to see some of those New world captains like Doma, Makugai & And the guy saying "can you see us Ace-chan"

Great chapter again. Shit's really gonna get fucked up now… it's about time Whitebeard attacked, but it's a shame he was stabbed before he really faught. This shows that Oda is likely to kill Whitebeard off. Whitebeard (the hyped strongest man in the world) unwounded and dying would be harder to believe than him being stabbed first and then meeting his end.
Ugh... fucking Aokiji. Does this mean no more Buggy in this war?

Yeah WB is sick and old already along with the stab, he is not going to last this war but he is sure as hell gonna go down in an epic manner. Very little action in this chapter and now we have another week break:getlost:.
I think this arc is coming to it's climax now we are going to be loaded with awesome chaotic 2 page spreads of WB going nuts.
By the way was that the marines entire secret strategy or is there more? I don't think that was everything it seems far too reliant on chanceEDIT: i love the new scar on mr.1

It's because WB didn't tell Squardo about Ace. Squardo flipped and believed Akainu. It's very clever from Sengoku, he must've picked Squardo for that very reason.

He could be shattered, but still live. though he needs to be defrosted quickly, so guessing whitebeard breaks all the ice or aikanu's manga does, or even ace when freed somehow thaws him out. but then he has to worry about the ocean.
but juist don't feel liek this is the last we will see of buggy

WB is obviously not going to die for Squardo's stab, this is OP, pretty much sure if he just go home and rest he could live, however he is going rampage against the PX, the Admirals, Shichibukai and ultimately Blackbeard, so his future doesn't semms that good to me.
And WB is still the strongest man in the world, the man who hold the power to destroy the world, his body is provably just not that epic anymore…

Just finished reading this, and great chapter. This is definitely my favorite chapter in the arc so far. I've been liking Whitebeard, but this chapter made him one of my favorites. I hated the people that when the spoilers came out, and jumped to quick and thought the deal was real, that were like "WB's a real pirate now". Idk, but while I like the stereo typical pirate as a template for villains in One Piece, Whitebeard, well I'm glad he's the way he is. He has his one heart, in all the right places, and I'm glad Luffy is here to see this all happening, show him how even the strongest man in the world, doesn't have to be someone like Kizaru, or Aokiji, show him that people like Shanks are at the top now just for their strength, but because they care about their crew like a family.
Probably my favorite parts were when Newgate embraces Squad in a hug, and treated him like a real loving father would if his son did something very, very wrong, proved that he loved him. Squad fucking stabs him, and Whitebeard simply tells him, he's a fool, he's been poisoned by the influence of the Marines, and then proves he's not forcing them to risk their lives by giving them the sides to retreat from if they choose. My other favorite part, should sell anyone who's not on the WB bandwagon, When he thinks about What Croc said, how he's still only human, not a demon, he's only one man, with only one heart, and knows that this is the end of an era, and I'm starting to think, that he realizes people like Luffy and Ace, are just like he, Roger, and Garp were. They started large at the END of an era, and started a new one, the pioneers of it. While it took one of them(Roger) to die to trigger it, Whitebeard and Garp have been at the top of the end of one era, the entire duration of another one(The great pirate era) and now, as this new era comes, Luffy and Ace will be as they did, They've become larged, and stood out at the end of this crazy era, and now will lead this new era into the world. And I think, at the end of the series, when the era that starts after this arc is over, Luffy and Ace will be as the Pirate King, and strongest man, and lead it into the world, until it ends, and they do.

No matter who did the physical stab, in the end the injury was from Sengoku and the world government as a whole. I'd say that was big enough.

Sengoku is really living up to his title, his strategy is beutiful. And this is probably only half of it, not to mention that he hasnt even played the Garp card yet.
But as for the whole Shanks and Whitebeard exchange, dont you think the stache was alot closer to his full strength then when he still was hooked up to his medication. Than he is now that he's been of the IV for god knows how long.

and i hope WB is ok and that his fighting isnt weakened to much or at all because of the stabbing incident and if he does die like it has been said a lot on this thread it will b with such a super epic Big Bang that a new universe will be created where WB will be their god
