Who would win in a fight, hodi jones or jinbe?

hey guys whats up Ive listened to the podcast for a little under a year now and decided it was time to break the silence. In your latest podcast you said that the princes were fishmen but looking back they were listed as mermaid and you dont really see their legs do you stll think that the royal family is a mixed marrige
and second a theory that Ive had since watching the beggining of the marineford arc in the anime. When Roger was talking to Garp about Ace a candle next to the cell blew out and relit itself. Now during the Luffy flashback we saw Ace rescue Dadan from the midst of the burning trash mountain. Yet he had not shown any devil fruit abilities til then. Could the reason the Navy wanted Ace dead so badly be that Roger had found a way to make his devil fruit powers genetic (possibly to do with what the one piece is). I have only seen the anime up to Skypia so this theory could be completly off. Has Roger been shown to have any devil fruit powers? Is That why the bloodline of Roger so dangerous? What do you think?
-
Hey guys, i know this might not be very related to current One Piece events but do how do you think a fish zoan would work as well as a mermaid under 30 with a devil fruit power, i think it would be quite interesting.
-
What do you guys think the CP9 are up to now? (2 years later) Also i was looking over some chapter covers and noticed one that said something like "The new generation of CP9" with some kids training. Which made me think, how do you think this island where these kids are training relates to the world government?
Also i'm sorry for bugging you guys about my facebook event.
-
Here's a fun question for all of you on the podcast: If you were a fishmen or a mermaid, what type of fishman/merman would you want to be? (Whales and dolphins don't count since they're mammels.)
Also, looking back at the chapters, all the 3 Princes are mermen, thus the entire royal family must be mermaids/men (unless a mixed marriage happened with Neptune's ancestors).
-
Do you know how we might be able to get funimation episodes of One Piece on iTunes?
-
So I was listening to 152 today and they still called Big Mam one of the 4 emperors, does that mean that the name is set and won't change regardless of the number or do you think Blackbeard officially became an emperor?
-
Was that or was that not the greatest One Piece episode in….years!??! From the animation to the pacing to the really intense scene with Luffy in the beginning to Whitebeard vs Akainu amazingness to BB's new crew this was a kick ass episode.
It was a shame the whole arc wasn't paced like this, if they could do this good a job with an 11 page chapter than I can't understand why all the Buggy crap was so necessary but hopefully this episode is a sign of things to come in the Anime.
-
The way Luffy was talking about Hyouzou (The octopus fishman in chapter 610) Do you think he has a chance of becoming an ally or more of a rival?

No real comment/question, but I have the perfect description pic for this weeks podcast episode:
!
Epicbeard was epic in this episode, far better than the manga in this case.

We're way ahead of you (yes, that's the picture for this week's episode).

How could it not be.

Hey guys I have a theory do you think that oda will pull a reverse and make king Neptune the villain we don't know truly how fishman are treated like 2nd class citizens and they wanted to take back FI island maybe because they are oppressed by him also what do you guys are maybe underestimating caribou clearly he is being kept around for a reason although he's shields bait for luffy finally do u think van decker crew or more about him will be revealed in next chapter. Great job guys keep up the work
-
Just a quick comment about the merman tail thing. It was said that they could split their legs by Kokoro. It seemed to me that it was made to imply that the mermaids/men were able to split their legs, not forced to. As we saw her use her tail in the water at the end of Enies Lobby. So would it not be possible that the king chooses to remain in his tailed form while he could use legs.
Thanks guys.

I have two questions, one for greg about a translation and an actual piece together question.
Greg:
1.) In the original japanese manga, does it say if Whitebeard was the only one able to stand up to Roger or does it say they were equal in strength?? I just wanted some clarification because funimation, viz, fan subs, and the wiki word the statement differently.Maji:
2.) Do you guys have any theories about the "Will-bition Haki" having more to it than just making people pass out? Reason I ask, all the most powerful Marines made it a priority to kill Luffy after finding out he was capable of it. Since they could hold their senses when it's used on them, why would they see that ability as a huge threat? -
I personally feel that if One Piece were available on iTunes, I would buy it and a lot of people would too. Why do you think it isn't there? Yes, this is a legal question and I am interested in it. So Zach, gimme some sort of answer.
Also, I've been rereading volume 12 lately and I wondered; given the trend of Oda redrawing certain images from the manga's early stages, do you think he might redraw the cover for volume 12 in whatever volume ends up being the one where the crew actually enters the new world? I personally believe it to be unnecessary but what are your thoughts?
P.S. Thanks to firecrouch for being a much better news host than jason, and all you guys for the 1337 special. It is good to know that hardcore fans like yourselves aren't thieves. Have a blessed day.
-
good chapter this week and good to see caribou can still be ultra creepy and menacing.
My question though is whether you guys noticed Hodi Jones had an Arlong tatoo on one of his arms. Do you think he was originally part of Arlong's crew before Arlong left for the East Blue?
-
Questions concerning chapter 612:
1.) With the latest revelation of Caribou's abilities, do you think the people he absorbs are still alive inside of him? I would think they would need to be alive to sell at the auction house. Maybe he has another dimension inside of him or something?
2.) What do you think the odds are of another crewmate joining at the end of this arc? I personally think it's too soon. There are theories floating around the forum of Caribou joining. (Excuse me while I go barf.)
If you have time, one more really quick one:
3.) Did you notice that Oda cut off Franky and Zoro's bounties? Do you think he did so intentionally?
-
Hey guys,
Now that we have seen Ace's death in the anime, which death affected you more emotionally? Ace or Merry?
-
Pretty good chapter this week. The only problem I had was that the princess looked like a biggie sized Nami (not that is too much of a problem…)
Anyway, what do you think about the theory of Hodi Jones maybe attacking the Eve tree? Throwing the island into darkness doesn't seem like it would affect the Fishman district, ^so I would think that could be a likely target form him to start a coup de etat. Not to mention it could destroy Sabody up on the surface, if he really wanted to be a dick about it...
-
Like Chopperrules, I was wondering about Caribou's ability. Do you think it might be in the same 'category' of Devil fruit as Blackbeard's? I know it wouldn't be as powerful, but the way Caribou described it, his power would seem to be bottomless, for lack of a better term. This leads me to believe it may be related to Teach's blackhole ability of absorbing stuff (attacks, other abilities, etc.). Am I reading too much into this or do you think Oda may draw some link between Blackbeard and Caribou?
-
This is a bit random but in chapter 524 page 18, Doflamingo is looking at a sheet of paper. What's up with that? I'm curious if this was ever explained. It strikes me as odd that he'd be reading in the first place, but Oda must have had a reason for putting that there. Also, have the identities of the marines with their backs facing us been revealed yet?
!

–-----------------------------------------------------------------------
We know that the Revolutionary Army aims to overthrow the World government or at the very least, install massive Reform/Change. I also don't believe that it is their goal/intention for the world to collapse into lawless, bloody anarchy (they realize that the world must always have some form of proper order and protection, just better ones than right now). This makes me think, could there be those who do?
- During the 2 Year Time-Skip, could a more extreme faction of the revolutionaries have separated from the rest to form their own group/organization? Do you think that Anarchists will play a role in the second half of the series? It would be a very nice way to contrast their goals/ideals with those of the original revolutionaries.
–-----------------------------------------------------------------------
- Assuming that the Marines had the same structure as they did 20-22 years ago, do you think that we will see the other 2 admirals? We know that Sengoku was one before becoming the Fleet Admiral, but the identities and abilities of the other two who worked with him are a mystery.
–-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-
Maybe this is some kind of agreement that states that "I Doflamingo the pimp will fight the WB pirates in order to remain a Warlord".
BTW, You guys are always awesome ( I love analysis)
Question: Do you think Tashigi will be a temporary member of the straw hats (like Vivi)?
What do you think of this idea ?
I just love Tashigi because she is the definition of what Pauly considers a decent woman.
-
I think zoro and Frankys bounties went up because the way their cut off on page 7.
-
Hey guys,
Now that we have seen Ace's death in the anime, which death affected you more emotionally? Ace or Merry?
The Pieces of wood probably does :D
OK but guys, serious question. Hancock or mermaid princess?
-
Whelp, guess we now know what a seahorse merman looks like .
Time for questions!
From out of all 3 princes, which one do you find more interesting? For me, it's the 2nd son, Ryuuboshi. Funny how their royal gondola is attached to an actual oarfish when he, himself, is an oarfish merman.
2nd question: I've noticed that the princess and all the 3 princes' names end in a variation of 'hoshi' (星), which means 'star' in japanese. ('Hoshi' changes to 'boshi' according to some japanese phonetic rule). Do you think this is part of Oda's idea of puns or just a pattern for naming Neptune's kids?
-
@Mr.333:
Oh Boy, do I have a lot of questions for you guys. I sincerely apologize in advance. I'm Sorry.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but you're really just posting way too much at once here. That is probably why they skipped this post last week, and I noticed you shifted it to this week because my post is no longer on the top.
The limit is usually two questions per poster, sometimes three if the question is short and they feel like reading it.
Just saying so you understand if it gets skipped over or not all of your questions are read. I realize you had a lot to say - just ask a few questions at a time and post again once they are answered.
-
We've seen that these "EVIL" drugs can make someone of I'm assuming Arlong level about the strength of a Pacifista(enough to take out a single powerful rookie pirate crew), so what do you think would happen if someone like Caribou took the pills? Sure he's been reduced to that "wacky serial killer" but the fact remains that he does have a logia(I think) and was powerful enough to earn a bounty higher than even Law's was, so perhaps, could these "EVIL" drugs be the key to Caribou being more relevant in this arc?
BTW, I've really been impressed with the new season, keep up the great work! :)

Yeah, I know. Sorry, I just really want my questions to be addressed.
Anyways, I shortened my post a bit. (>_<)

Hey guys. Here's a fun little question: If you guys were a real pirate crew, would you mutiny against Zach?
-
Yo guys, long time no comment.
First hate I didn't get to meet you guys when you came to Dallas. I wanted to come down to Flower Mound but other obligations prevented me. Glad to hear you all had a good time nonetheless.
Secondly with all thats going on in the Fishman Island arc (Caribou, the prediction, Hordy and the New Fishman Pirates, Vander Decken etc…) do you feel all these subplots are becoming a little complicated? As well as the pace of the story suddenly becoming a little speedy all of a sudden. I say this because the splitting of the crew seemed rather pointless now (save Franky and Robin) and the hopping from place to place within chapters.
Not that thats not a bad thing but I just don't want this leading to something anti-climatic due to time issues.
-
Come on? Zoro's and Franky's bounties went up?
Zoro's left arm says Hi.
-
Zach, I decided to look up the real Teach's death so you don't have to. I'll keep it short so you don't have to read a lot.
Basically, Lieutenant Maynard and his men surrounded Teach and his crew and just as Whitebeard was stabbed repeatedly by Blackbeard's men, the real Teach was slashed across the neck and stabbed repeatedly by Maynard's men. Maynard then cut off his head and propped it on his ship so he could collect the reward.

(Assuming this is accurate, being Wikipedia and all.)

Do you guys think we will see law and kid soon kid we know went into the new world but law we left off with him saying he wasnt ready to go to the new world where do you think he ended up? Oh and on a side note will tatum ever be on the podcast again?
-
THANKIES THANKIES THANKIES! for puting all of the AAC version of the podcast up on itunes! now my ipod wont be so very full. whoopii!
-
Strange that a character who lives under the see has a Devil Fruit.. unless his power doesn't come from a fruit..
I think the five minute rule is just some sort of safety precaution, to ensure the guards do not do anything..
And about Van Der Decken's hand, I think that he may be plotting to simply use Hordy Jones to get to Shirahoshi, so when his hand turned black, he was placing his target on Hordy, (unless when his hand is normal, that signifies that he can choose a new target). My theory is: Black hand (similar to the black spot in the pirate era) means he has chosen a new target, so in this case, Hordy is his new target because he's realized after 10 years that simply throwing weapons will not work, so once he gets Hordy's help, he will dispose of him, and set his sights back on the Princess
-
I kind of imagine Vander Decken with a Waluigi voice. Who do you think will voice him when the anime rolls around?
-
I didn't think of Hodi and Decken teaming up, and acutally kinda forgot about the latter. I like Van Der Decken's power so far, hoping to see the variations of how accurate the tracking is. And finally we have seen a fishman/merfolk with a Devil Fruit power. How do you think this affects his performance underwater, and could it relate to the glove on his hand?
Sidenote, been a while since I've posted on the forums, but it's great to be back.
-
1. In general, how do you guys feel about underwater adventures and stories? Like them, hate them? (examples: Aquaman, Star Wars episode 1, Zoras, 20000 Leagues…)
2. Do you guys believe that the antagonists in this arc are a real threat to the Straw Hats, or just a chance to fully show off the crew's new abilities? Are the evil drugs the only real threat?
-
when's the next time that you guys think Shanks will show up? At the end of One Piece itself or before then? When?
-
Have you guys considered doing a music video to go along with the "We're fighting in Marineford Song." that you had? Perhaps you could make that a contest to celebrate the end of the Marineford Arc on television.
-
Do you think that in the case of a fishman/merfolk with a Devil Fruit power like Van Der Decken the devil fruit side effect would be the opposite of a human? For example he cannot go out to the surface or he loses his powers?
-
Do you think there is a poneglyph on fishman Island?
-
Hey Zach, My name is Adam Rios, I talked with you at Anime Expo 2010. I just bought Volume 61, and I wanted to let you now for your podcast news segment that Zoro's eye was fixed for the color spread(now not in color) for chapter 598. Also, there are Concept Drawings for what Oda thought he wanted the Strawhats to look like after the time skip. My favorite is a "Mihawk" Zoro. It shows everyone's but Brook's. Wasn't sure where I should have posted this. Sorry.
-
Ussop is so BA in this chapter. Hopefully this has shown that the Crew has really caught up to each other. I would love to see Ussop and Nami take a more active role in the fights the crew gets into.
What do you guys think of a possible confrontation next chapter between Caribou and Luffy with the Princess. Being the largest Mermaid would make her a likely target to the Rape-rape man. Awesome chapter once again.
-
Here's another anime question for you guys.
In the new episode did you guys catch Jinbei's bounty? (When the Pacifistas were about to attack Jinbei) What did you guys think? Too high, too low?
If you guys didn't notice its:
! 250,000,000
-
Here's a question:
Do you think Shiriyu could be Zoro's final opponent (not Mihawk) ?
I personally don't like it because Mihawk made me a One Piece fan.
-
Hey a quick question do you think frankey and robin have been capture by neptunes army also from hodi and van der deckan convesation where they say the army lacks fish/mer man pride what do you think that means and also what do you think the soldiers are?
