Well I don't necessarily think they needed an explanation for their bounty. The only one who actually warranted an explanation was Kid's, since he was higher than Luffy, which we got. The point is they're above 100,000,000. They each went on adventures rounding up companions just like Luffy, and eventually started getting more and more noticed by the WG to get their bounties. Why they got them isn't important, but it's the fact they've done stuff to get that noticed by the WG in the first place.
As far as the war goes, I think the point was to get them into the system. Marineford was already a clusterfuck, plus it was a very story-heavy arc. Everybody who was there was either directly involved with the war or the arc before, or had some sort of connection to Luffy. Adding the Supernovas in when we barely knew anything about them would have really made it a headache. It would have been way too much. And anyway, what reason would they have to participate in the war in the first place? Even Law had a fairly hamfisted reason for getting involved at all, and even then it was just grabbing Luffy and running away. The way Oda's handled the Supernovas so far is fine.

I have no problem with you finding the supernovas handling fine. It's not like I'm pretending like my opinion was the only valid one. But to me supernovas are those that supposedly doing important stuff but have yet to prove anything.

Kidd sinking two ship is good old challenging yonkou which happens from time to time. Like Law said. If he doesn't end up as hyping device or ally to take down a yonkou I might change opinion.

I'd like to see more tension in the series. That is, making me honestly believe bad things could happen to the characters I enjoy if they happen to mess up. Not necessarily death, but full-blown consequences. I know if, for instance, Luffy can't take down Doflamingo then it's likely he'll do away with everyone on Dressrosa, but the problem in my mind is that I cannot imagine that actually occuring by any stretch of the imagination.
When I think back to my favorite parts of the series, a lot of them involve the best tension Oda has ever written. The encounter with Kuma at Thriller Bark, the separation at the Archipelago, when Crocodile takes out Luffy, and pretty much the entire Impel Down/Marineford part of the story.
Therefore, while One Piece is certainly my favorite series and remains an absolute blast to read - due to it's characters, adventrous tone, world-building, battles, and overall imagination - I believe tension is one of it's greatest weaknesses, and one of the few which I find a number of series do better.

Yeah, but judging by their universal reaction to an admiral coming to Saboady (well except Apoo, and even he never had any delusions that he could actually beat an admiral) they seemed to be well aware of their shortcomings, strength wise, at that point.

Dressrosa is such utter and complete waste when it comes to both that and tension…
Honestly this big break for them in the story was so that we wouldn't see them fail anymore. And honestly can you name me another shonen were the main-characters failed three to four times in a row like Luffy did? I don't think there are any. The whole stretch from thriller bark (beginning) till marineford (end) was there to show how weak the strawhats were in comparison to the enemies they were making.
And although I to don't see the strawhats failing anymore I never saw that before either and was always surprised by it in the arcs before. Also the arc has enough tension in my opinion and I really like the slow setup Oda does. He maneuvers so many characters and groups through the whole arc and it is exiting to guess which enemy they will face and where the groups will end up. Although as with all big stories with many characters I think the arc will benefit from reading through it in one go as that lets the inherent tension come out more. And I guess Oda kinda expects fans of the series to read it so much that they are basically in this mindset the whole time.

Onigumo has 1 relevant feat on Marco. It's a remarkable one but "close to admiral level" is a stretch. All VAs post-TS have under performed as far as portrayal goes. That's not a bad thing but now we know the standard of VAs. We should see a few exceptional VAs in the future. Who knows, Onigumo could be one of them.
Maynard is not pathetic! Bartolomeo is a strong dude. The fight was offpaneled anyway. Winning a whole block at Corrida is not an easy feat…(except for Rebecca, she lucked out). Anyway, of all the VAs/marines they could've selected to enter the tournament as a spy and investigate, they chose Maynard. That's a pretty good feat in itself.

After Luffy defeats Doflamingo, I want CP-Aegis Zero to take that opportunity to strike and arrest him while the rest of the Straw Hats are exhausted/incapacitated.
I want their to be an ulterior motive in why doflamingo took over dressrosa.
With his crew, he could have probably taken any other island in the world.
We know he doesn't make the weapons there, or the SAD. The only thing he needed from dressrosa so far are the tonetta for their ability to grow the smiles, but even then he can just kidnap them where ever.
I am kinda hoping there's an ancient weapon hidden somewhere in the island, and doflamingo spent the last 10 years looking for it.
That would explain why oda kept robin in dressora and not with the sunny crew.

Some kind of interesting and relevant story about who Luffy's mother is, how she met Dragon, and where she's been for the past 20 years. (Apparently Oda said she's not dead?) Hopefully she's actually a cool, interesting, strong character, not another random boring Namiface woman.
More about Dragon's personality revealed. I don't understand where his seriousness and intelligence comes from compared to Garp and Luffy, those two definitely seem related, but Dragon? I can't see it at all at this point. If Dragon has some kind of gag it's going to be so weird since he's just been serious this whole time, but at the same time I still kinda want to see it happen.
Luffy finally meeting Dragon would be good. It will be really interesting to see how it is handled. I'm going to be annoyed if they never meet.
Hmmmm what else… I guess I'm more interested in the plot stuff like story reveals, seeing more of the Revolutionary Army and their goals etc, finding out more about the Void Century... stuff which is all probs going to happen I guess, so it's just a matter of waiting another 10-20 years.
Also a strong female character that doesn't rely on seduction would be good but I kinda accepted a long time ago how unlikely that is. Koala! Do something cool!! Be impressive! Kick someone's ass! Ok I'm done.
I'd like to see every member of the Straw Hats get one legitimate fight where they show off the full extent of their abilities. Especially those that are lacking in that department. Nami, Chopper, Brook and Robin. Oh, I suppose Usopp. I'd also like every member to get some form of Haki. Franky, Robin and Chopper could get Armament Haki while Nami, Brook and Chopper could get Observation Haki. Yes, I did write Chopper getting both. Could be a nice boost for his character, and it does seem like it would fit him really well.
I would like to see Gin return at some point also.
I want to see Luffy using his bazooka attack more often. I know he did the grizzly magnum on Caesar, but I prefer the regular sized it was a staple in every fight of his and would leave his opponents chests dented like Crocodile and Eneru and of course Blueno.
A red hawk imbued bazooka would be perfect

1 - I think it's a given we're gonna learn something about Luffy's mother, but I fear it will be only little remark, not longer flashback/story behind why she's not with him etc. Maybe she died after all?
2 -It's a given too :) I think it might be something similar to hunter x hunter - gon and gin reunion. Not exacly like that but a bit similar i guess. Probably Dragon not giving a fuck and Luffy not giving a fuck xD It will be like "Oh so you are my father?" "yep…" "ok..."

I'd like something like that too. It's not new for old villians to face protagonists that were too strong back then (and strongest protagonist had to fight him, but now weaker ones can) like in Dragon Ball for example, but it could work very nicely. We already had something like that with pacifistas, but those were just robots not real guys :) I think now Usopp could easily solo Arlong and Kuro. Look at those muscles! He could probably do it meele style without his main weapons xD
I only fear a bit, that instead of cool new bossess will rehash old ones… but since those old ones are so great and Oda will still show us some new ones I think It would be nice :)

Forgive me for not going through the existing 279 pages of this thread so if I repeat some of the ideas I'm sorry. Anyway, the idea of old villains returning used to annoy me but we've had some cool ones up until this point in the story (Bellamy is here already, Rob Lucci getting some redemption by being a ruthless but friendly rival to Luffy (and helping out) would be great and either Gin or Perona popping up would be most welcome). Just trying to think of former opponents that were either not outright evil or have changed their stance due to circumstances (i.e CP9's failure to stop Luffy & Co. means the World Government wants to wipe them out if I remember correctly).
Alternatively I'd like to see Luffy, Zoro and Sanji have a more balanced face-off with the 3 main admirals currently in the navy. None of that latest opening snapshot sort of stuff but a proper back and forth that reminds us why One Piece as a series is great, something along the lines of Luffy and Rob Lucci's second fight that was probably one of my most enjoyable in the series to date. I kind of want to see Kizaru get a little serious for a change after Sanji shows what he's capable of (much as I love the laid back guy that can move at the speed of light no less).
