Thus my recent post about how they're FINALLY getting their act together on the ads. They're finally shuffling them so you get different ones, and the placement is getting a lot better. One at the beginning, one right after the intro, and one between the crew cameos (though that came a few frames early in this case). My one problem is the final ad which interrupted the flow, and I'd really prefer they did away with that final slot. I can't complain all that much, though, since the multi ad system is loads better than it was before, which says that they're working on it.

Are you sure you're not just using an ad blocker? Normally I watch them right away, but it makes no difference.
I'm not trying to get rid of the ads, or anything. I'm happy to watch a couple seconds of advertising to support this service.
No ad blocker. Just good ol' fashioned internet.
I have some insane luck, I guess.

The amount of ads vary. It's basically a game of chance. There have been nights when I didn't have any ads at all, while other people did, and others where I sat through 7 Verizon Commercials in one episode.
-
But guys…TWITTER ON YOUR TV!
-
I liked this ep, even though IMO bon-chan's speech seemed a tad rushed at the end.
-
Awesome episode, but I echo what gold_rogger15 is saying above me. I was waiting for something along the lines of the manga where it went "In the Okama Fields… I have no regrets."
And I particularly didn't like how they transcribed "Okama Way" to "Oh Come My Way". Other than that, it was pretty good.

If that's the case then I'll shut off my ad blocker for the Funi site. I have no problems with ads when they're done right. Unobtrusive, but there. Like the ads on Hulu.

This would've been a great emotional episode, but the ads ruined it for me. I didn't experience any until 17 minutes in. Then I had to watch two in a row. I thought that was it (cause I've only watched the simulcast maybe twice at most before tonight) and, well…
Video-"Bon-Chan, we have to go"
Me-"Oh God, getting emotional. This is so wonderful"
BZZT OH HAI I'MMA AD FOR SOME PHONE OR GADGET YOU DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT
Me-"Damn it to HELL! THAT RUINED THE MOMENT"It was still a great episode but damn those ads. Need to get one of those blockers I keep hearing about.
-
i got lucky with NO COMERCIALS. i was a very emotianal ending. Happy the reanimated Bon's farwell instead of that wierd borders thing
-
I don't know how they are doing the add's but this week wasn't so bad, but last week it was. I actually didn't mind the repeating add's what bothered me was when they interrupted a crucial moment. I wonder what's keeping them from simply placing the add's when the show has its natural intermission and limiting themselves to that.

This had to have been the saddest episode since Merry's death. Any episode that causes me to actually shed a tear (which is hard to do) is very well done. It really doesn't look good for Bon-chan getting away from this one alive…
The last two music choices were the two best possible choices for this particular scene as well.
-
This episode was good. The cannonballs firing about 20 times was kind of annoying, but the rest was great. The button pressing scene was hilarious and the farewell scene was sad.

Yeah, that was a part of the episode that really annoyed me. Plus those darn Droid ads…..shakes fist
Anyways, what a sad episode. I kinda wanted Bon Clay to say "I've no regrets...." but his anime line worked too.
What a great (qualitywise, not mood) way to end Impel Down.
! eagerly awaits Straw Hat fillers
-
It was a good episode, and now we can get to Marineford. Here's hoping we don't get some crazy japanense samurai filler.
Which we probably will….

"Even though everybody ranked higher then vice-admiral has been summoned to marineford"
Apparently there are only 4 marines at marineford.

Yibis better watch out for that. Hope they translate Bon's final words as "I have no regrets" too.

Yay! Finally we're out of hell. Mr. 2's gone, Luffy spoke like Galdino… good episode.

Hey, don't knock the Detective Luffy episodes. Those are good.
I wouldn't mind one or two before going back to Marineford, to use up two more weeks to get the manga more ahead and to just show the Straw Hats together again, albeit in a separate universe.
Oh yeah, I forgot Luffy speaking like Mr. 3. That was a nice touch, somehow.
-
EDIT
Never mind, shouldn't have said that. It happens later. -
@Thousand:
Yibis better watch out for that.
@My:
Jinbei: All of their troops ranged Vice Admiral or higher have been called to Marineford…
No need to worry about that.
@Thousand:
Hope they translate Bon's final words as "I have no regrets" too.
@My:
Bon Kurei: Satisfaction!
Sorry 'bout that. But this is actually a considerably more accurate translation anyway. (Although the main reason I used it is because I saw a lot of people praise Viz for translating it like that… even though they supposedly butchered the rest of the speech.)
-
Bon-chan! Nooooooo! :cwy:
-
Hey, don't knock the Detective Luffy episodes. Those are good.
Better than good, they're fucking awesome. They don't screw up the time lines or break the continuity with stuff about new devil's fruits. It crystallizes those enjoyable things which are unique to the show since they're different from the comic.
Absolutely shocking to hear they're disliked.

Neat and no need to apologize, "Satisfaction" is pretty good too.

Couldn't agree more.

Anybody know why Funi changed their web player for the older episodes to Hulu? I live in Canada so I can "view it from my region." Is there anyway to get past that? Other than moving to the states :P
-
Might just be part of their deal with Hulu, and that Funimation's servers could be getting overloaded. Just speculation on my part though.
-
A very nice close to a very nice arc. Now onto Navy Headquarters!
Buggy won this episode over.
So I guess we're getting Straw Hat filler for a month, which I'm perfectly okay with.

I agree. With that golden background and the people kneeling before him, even I nearly wanted to drop everything and convert to worshipping "Buggy the Christ."
Also, judging by the next episode's title, we're actually getting the Straw Hat cover stories in animated form, not run-of-the-mill filler.
-
Nice episode. So, when we getting a new opening. Hopefuly next week or at least after the fillers.

Fix'd.
And we USUALLY get an announcement of the new opening in Jump ahead of time, the new Dragon Ball Kai Ending theme did even. However, if I remember correctly, Kaze wo SagaSHIT didn't get one, so… No Idea whatsoever.
-
Im glad Toei will FINALLY animate the covers again, even if it is just this ones.
-
Another great episode. The parts with Buggy were awesome and the flashing pictures of the opposing sides in the war was cool too. It will be a nice change of pace to see the cover stories since we haven't seen anyone else in the crew for the past few months.

Oh please, while it all hasn't been canon we've been having the Strawhats appear in anime form in some form or another every dozen of episodes since the Strawhat Separation arc began. We had two Edo-era episodes right after the Saobody arc ended. Then we had the lead up to the Cover Story arcs in 418-421. Then a few episodes later we got the (crappy) Movie 10 tie-in episodes AND Strong World. They've felt more absentee in the manga compared to the anime.

I'm certain Opening 12 will stay at least until a little after the war starts. Why else would they show them arriving like that?

Yeah… Nothing I said said in my statement was wrong. The last episode to have other crew member in it was 6 months ago. That's actually more than a few months. Also I was pretty much just talking about Impel Down. Thanks for pointing out the episodes they did appear in, it's not like I watched them or anything.:getlost: And if we use your logic and compare the episodes starting after the separation, the tally comes out to 36 w/o crew to 10 w/ crew. Oh wait! That's right! 6 of the 10 episodes do not contribute to the main story in any way whatsoever. So it's more like 36 to 4.

Dear god the padding with everyone very slowly moving to the Snail was pure torture. That was the most egregious time wasting since Jimbei's punch on Level 4.

THIS except I think there was worse padding than Jimbei's such as repeating scenes even after the commercial break (such as Buggy & Mr 3's charge to break through to the wax wall now THAT was more painful than Jimbei's punch, but this den den mushi bit takes the cake >:[

Why would they show CP9 fights in Opening 6, when it was changed before the fighting started?
-
Yeah, it wouldn't be too shocking if the Opening changed before the war.
Anyway, I noticed today that One Piece Official is streaming through FUNimation's video player again as opposed to Hulu's. What exactly was the point of that changeover? It lasted like only a week…

I was just making a general point that, to me, it's not like they've been completely removed from the anime version. I wasn't getting into specifics of canon stuff and the math just the general feel of their presence in the anime. Whatever.

Why would they show CP9 fights in Opening 6, when it was changed before the fighting started?
Because they got a timeslot change at the end of the season.

God, half way through that scene I was screaming "ANSWER THE GODDAMN PHONE!" at my monitor.
I can't stand to listen to an unanswered phone in real life. I sure as hell don't want to listen to one in my TV shows.

Good think I'm skipping the episodes until the WB first attack. Then I'll drop the series agian until the big scenes.

Isn't the whole next arc just a conglomeration of "big scenes"? Just watch it, I'm sure it'll be worth it. It's only twenty minutes a week.
-
I enjoyed that episode, the best part being just seeing the globe for some reason.
I didn't see the preview, are the straw hat cover stories next?

Pretty nice episode overall this week. Just like last time, Nami's C-level story took over 2/3 of the episode. I'd rather have 15 minutes of Franky's story, much as I like Nami. I'm a little confused as to how high friction can carbonate tea, but it was still cool to see Franky get back in action.
So based off of the new information we've received…
Nami will stay on Weatheria for who knows how long and will learn about the science of weather. This could have some nice development for her return to the crew. I hope Oda makes good use of it. That thunder explosion from the bubble seems to be hinting at a new attack.
And, while we didn't learn much about Franky, we know he's going to find something interesting inside of the lab. If they find a way to build a self-cola producing machine, Franky will have an endless amount of cola on the battlefield, thus not leaving himself wide open. I'm also hoping for some other add-ons from what he finds in the lab.
