Another pretty stacked list. Hirotaka Ito going solo as AD is unusual but sadly expected since Inoue has reportedly been hospitalized after sufferring an aortic dissection (the same thing that took Kentaro Miura recently) :sad:.
Sad to hear that, hoping for Inoue-san to recover.
Concerning the staff, 990 will be the most action packed so it makes sense to have those 2 as ADs, i wasn't expectng 2 series directors in a row tho. This is Nagamine's first time on the director seat since episode 934 (Zoro vs Kamazo).
Where are the credits for the openings/endings themselves usually placed? Do magazines credit upcoming opening staff members?

It's a mixture of a various number of things. For Toei Animation and Fuji TV they have a vested interested in not wanting to give credence to their employs. Sometimes staff don't want to be credited, either (although that is likely not the issue for those early Opening and Ending animation). At NHK they force studios to reduce the number of credited staff because they're just fucking assholes and don't want to credit 'too many' people.

1013 immediately grabs my attention because that's the same duo behind episode 850 which was really good and one of my personal favorites from that arc.
As for Thurlow's tweet, keeping things within the realm of plausibility (somewhat) something like Ishitani + Masami Mori AD would certainly make me go faint.
I know everyone's been committed to the idea of Ishitani doing the rooftop episodes since forever but I was secretly hoping she'd get to do the zoan reveals from 998 since she has an interest in paleontology.

Thurlow also posted today that because of the break, only two episodes were revealed, and that we should be looking forward to the next set also.
An episode with both Ishitani and Mori in positions of directorship is absolutely something to be excited about. I have no inkling of what'll come next, but Thurlow has hyped his upcoming work as being some of the best of his career, and I would be shocked if Nagamine himself didn't direct one of the upcoming episodes.

@Nouryoku Tu, Bahi JD, and Maenami being listed on storyboarding duty is a good sign that they're doing some heavy lifting on 1072 and are likely boarding their own cuts. Even if Masami Mori ("Keisuke" is his real name and only used on Toei productions AFAIK) is "just" an AD I wouldn't be shocked if his corrections are so heavy to the point where they might as well be his own key animation like in 1045 and 1054.
Nobuyuki Iwai was an assistant AD on a few episodes in the 1050s. The bulk of his notable career seems to be on the Detective Conan franchise.
Mamoru Yokota only has like three uploads on sakugabooru from a show that's over a decade old at this point but apparently he's been in the industry for quite a while.
I was concerned for a while that Sota Shigetsugu (HoneHone) might've been transitioning away from the anime lately like what seems to have happened to Tetsuro Niregi and Takeshi Nishino before him so I'm glad to see him popping up in what I assume is a Tu-esque action AD role.
I swear I saw somewhere what Ryo Onishi might be returning to the anime for the first time in ~13-14 years and that
I know this thread has pretty much stopped being an active topic but I am posting just in case it motivates anyone else to post here again.
It’s pretty ironic that this thread was most alive when the animation quality was crap most of the time. Now we get sakuga basically every episode, and of much better quality, and hardly anyone cares.
I think people do care, but just gush on Twitter and Reddit about it. This thread was more active back when good animation was a rarity and we all looked forward to the good animators.
Funny how this thread started at the tail end of TB and here we are now. I wonder how the original peeps (Crosswords and Murad) feel
