Hello there,
This is my first post here, so I better make it count.I'm a collector of settei since July 2013, and during that time I've collected -and scanned- roughly 60,000 sheets of setting materials.
I do what I do because I got fed up with seeing small, watermarked images -along with the fact that when someone has concept art, they prefer keep it in their drawers, for their eyes only.
So I scanned all my sheets in 300 DPI and send a copy to Settei Dreams; who cleans them of copy spots/noise, and then display the scanned materials to their website for everyone to admire the conceptual wonders of Japanese Animation. And to prove that I'm not lying, here is a link to all three volumes of One Piece Settei Shiryoushuu: https://mega.nz/file/tLJ01b7Y#_JPJi_smB1yTp__FDzxxYOS1eUOPR4qT9m3X7OQQhfU
And here are links to One Piece settei on Settei Dreams, currently:

https://setteidreams.net/settei/one-piece-season-19/I also have other One Piece settei's sent to Settei Dreams for editing polish (Alabasta Arc, Skypiea Enies Lobby Arc, Lougetown Arc, Marineford Arc, Z's Ambition Arc, Warship Island Arc, Movies 2, 3 and 5 to name a few).
However, I'm still looking for designs not found on eBay, Mandarake or Yahoo Japan. So if anyone has any settei sheets scanned (Preferably in 300 DPI or 3507x2480) or know someone who does, please let me know.Thank you for reading my first post, and I hope you all enjoyed the links! (I'll try to keep the shiryoushuu's up for at least three months).
You're an absolute legend, thank you for your contribution
If anything, once the movie is done, that will free up Komaki and thats a big boost. Tho, i'm not sure if she'll direct any episodes for this arc, she might want to take a break after the movie.
As far as the episode goes i cant say i enjoyed much but it wasnt bad. Some shots were really cool and the Usopp-Chopper filler waa fairly enjoyable tho slightly dragged out. To be fair to the episode, i'm in a ep 1000 high right now and i watched the preview before the episode so that could have affected my enjoyment and investment for the episode.
Judging by the preview, 1000 is already a contender for most animated episode of the franchise. I hope to see a lot of cool ideas that go beyond just pure action. Or i guess some good old meathead action is fine too but i want to be surprised by the writing too, not just the aesthetics.
Sometimes I feel like storyboarding is the most crucial position to making an episode look good.
Ofc, especially for an atmospheric episode like this and with limited animation. Direction and compositing are equally important.
I'm not surprised about the moon shot but in this case i'm not blaming toei too much because its a difficult shot to get right. The choice to zoom out from the moon all the way behind the scabbards was perfectly fine in and of itself. Takashi otsuka would have done wonders with this shot, by utilizing 3D like he did in zou and stampede. The lighting was basic too, if they did something more interesting compositing-wise, it would have made a big difference.
someone really needs to do something about the sound design in this anime
Yeah, it can get very distracting at times.
The animation for the scabbards scene was great but the sound direction was somewhat underwhelming. They relied mostly on sound effects and minimal voice acting for the charging scenes but it didnt work very well for me, it felt silent and unengaging (i felt the same for some parts of the Supernova scene in 978). Maybe more war cries/screams from scabbards and beast pirates would have helped. Also i feel like they overdid it with the visual parallels between scabbards and Oden, it all felt quite disorientating. Lastly, they change the colors three times throughtout the scene, from black and white to normal filter and then the vibrant colorful filter. Not that big of a deal but i think the normal filter should have been removed and they should have kept the black and white longer.
Framing the climax of Kiku and Kanjuro's duel on a theater stage with a the audience bursting into applause as he falls and expresses his validation as an actor was such an inspired directorial choice. Aside from the tired and cliche emotional gaslighting at the start of the fight that's been done so often in media that I can't do anything but roll my eyes and groan at anymore their confrontation was otherwise 10/10 and really elevated the material.
! Of course all the pagentry's a little hollow given that Kanjuro's not actually dead and is just playing possum, but that's an Oda problem, not an anime one.
! My only worry is how will they surpass this when Kanjuro "actually dies"?
I think we will know when episode 1000 anouncement comes. I really hope there is because if there isnt there is no excuse for the mediocrity of the latest episodes.
I dont think the movie is that critical to the anime's consistency. The main reasons to me for the recent episodes being more conservative or "mediocre" is 1)because thats how long running productions function and 2)because the remainder of the arc is probably the most demanding to adapt in the history of the story. On the other hand, we've gotten episodes like 989,990,992 (994 and 995) which are great in their own right, so i dont get why some average episodes seem so out of the ordinary.
Does ayone know if there's a decent or good quality collection of video game animations for one piece?
By animations i mean opening animations & anything animated in 2D
Right after the cast credits, but for some reason only on the episode the opening debuts on, and Toei didn't share opening credits at all until One Day.
That is so weird. Why would you not want to credit the work of your employees? What about EDs?
