Is this fucking idiot going to mention he thinks Crona's a girl every month
At least he didn't make a comment on Tsubaki's ass this time
More of a prep chapter then anything but why halt character development.
Three threats in the air (literally) and the shat is about to hit the fan
Ooh
! Maka vs Justin. This should be fun.
Read the chapter:
[hide]
So many good things: ToC (most likely), Justin, Death the Kidd and his Kishin suppression team, Noah (I think, I forgot what he's doing right now) and Asura, all heading towards a fight on the moon. And I have the feeling that those figures behind Justin aren't going to go down easy. Perhaps they're other weapons/meisters corrupted by the madness?
Speaking of weapons, Tezca's powers still confuse me a little. I thought Death was talking to his soul because, well, he's Death, but then he talks about reflecting his soul. I still don't quite get his powers.
And of course, Spartoi hunting Chrona. Who knows how long this mission will last trying to flush him/her out?
Overall, I'm loving this. [/hide]
Great chapter. I'll await a little later to say something as I'm not in the mood for tags.
This chapter was incredible foreplay into an arc we've been waiting for years on.
I honestly can't praise this manga enough for its ability to make single chapters (instead of just collected volumes) to stick out as an excellent stand alone. This was not necessarily up to the level of Chrona's act against Medusa, but it was still fascinating in terms of story progression, and quite possibly the prologue to the climax of the story.
Kid stating BlackStar is the strongest was also deeply satisfying. It's what the moment Zoro defeats Mihawk will feel like in One Piece, there will be more story to tell and stronger enemies, but at this moment, he has achieved self actualization.
! Please, let there be space-battles!
I really enjoyed the chapter but the dark scans kind of messed it up for me, but I won't complain we're getting the manga for free.
Maybe Kishin is hiding in the sky. The madness is concentrated the highest up there and Eibon did say Kidd's friends will know. Besides that it was a pretty boring transition chapter for me. Wasn't much impressed by the hunting of the whale since all they did was herd it around and the thing wasn't even fighting back.
I should have guessed at a higher altitude for Kishin's position. Lol, dammit.
The chapter is all kinds of awesome. Also, I'm smelling a time skip.
I started reading this manga only a few weeks ago but my friends used to talk me about it every month so I'm aware of the current events. Reading it with all the details is better of course. So far my favourite character is Free. Too bad he just disappeared. I hope he appears again before the end of the series.
I probably need to reread this series again, so I'd probally go with the Viz volumes assuming there's no consistent scanlations of the early chapters.
Correction…. Yen Press are the ones releasing the Soul Eater manga. (Slowly but surely... yea... three volumes a year...)
Aw. My bad. But 3 vols isn't too bad. I just need the early ones until the end of Baba Yaga Castle
Maka is so freaking hax.
Her soul perception can reach the moon now? What? Every soul on earth?! Whaaaat?
It always feels like they oversell Maka's soul perception on paper because she's usually so much more underwhelming than the other main characters, but this is over the top, lol.
Regarding the rest of the chapter, it feels like the series is kicking it into high gear for the climax. I'm VERY eager to see where all this goes, (but wish the translations were a little more palatable).
im wondering, if people really think the series is heading to the climax, it should be about that time where studio BONES should be working up a remake for the anime.
although it took fullmetal like 4 or 5 years to get another one so im not too sure yet
! Here's hoping a fist full of courage doesn't kill Asura. :ninja:
Holy shit. I just started on the anime and manga at the same time. Yesterday(or today, depending.) Marathon'd from chapter 1 to 34 and episode 31. At the same time. I really like this series.
Looks like they're setting up for the end. I like how everything is developing for it, and they're not leaving any stones unturned; Kid's resolve is reaching a conclusion, we're gonna see all the Death Scythes, the TOC & Noah moving into position, and Chrona's whole story getting resolved. All we have left to see is Medusa's 3rd sister (assuming they show all 3 Gorgon sisters, which they might not), Maka's mom, and the final battle with the Kishin and his whole plan. No matter what happens, I feel we'll be more than satisfied with the result~
I love this series, but I'm not gonna be sad when it's over. I'm not exactly on edge for each new chapter every month
Guys, take a look at this:

The moon isn't blood dripping.

They just recently showed the 3rd Gorgon sister in Soul Eater NOT. You should read it, it's really fleshing out the universe and Shibusen.
As far as the end game goes…I dunno', I'm kind of split. The showdown is likely to end with Asura's demise, but the hunt for Chrona could go on for a while since they have to search the world over.
And don't forget the witch Mifune was caring for might grow up to be a problem, although maybe that could be waved off with her just being taught how to behave in the future.

… okay that's a good reason to pick back up Soul Eater NOT. I gave up after chapter 2 because I lost interest, but you've convinced me.

i dont know why else not to read it. its a very relaxing title to read after all the action packed soul eater chapters.
plus it expands the universe, and explains certain things the soul eater manga left out.
bumbing this thread
So I read the first volume of Soul Eater and really liked it. And looking through this thread, it seems it keeps it's good quality? Then I think I have a new series to collect :)

mangareader not good enough for you? I don't think you'll find much better, sadly…

Well it's not as if I went out of my way not to read it, I just lost interest after chapter 2 and mangastream quit translating it so I just never picked it back up. But I'm only 6 chapters behind so I'll just dedicate a bit of time to catch up when I'm not busy.

It's great. That's all there is to say.
Nerdgasm…!!!
Anyone know if the Soul Eater chapters usually come out every 15th of the month? I'm just waiting for that new chapter….I didn't even know Soul Eater was a monthly manga till recently.....
Spoilers out at : http://nenena.livejournal.com/332341.html

Oh, and…
!
And guys, this is why Ohkubo started writing Soul Eater Not!
That number on the airship…I smell a pun.
Nice set-up chapter for Soul Eater. It really hit home this may be the final arch. SE Not was…short. Very short. Very short and confusing. @Nekketsu:

Don't be silly. It was to introduce the third Medusa sister who we won't see again for a year.
Excellent chapter and excellent tie in to Soul Eater Not.
This finale may be the best I've ever read in a manga.
Holy shit at that tie in.
Despite the poor translation that was another good set-up chapter. Shame it was another set-up chapter. But I won't deny I'm excited as hell to see the Maka vs. Crona match and I definitely want to see what the African and Middle Eastern Death Scythes are capable of. So this chapter got me excited for what's to come. What more could you really want from a set-up chapter?
I really liked this chapter, it was depressing to see the characters writing their wills and all, but it gave a good sense to how huge the mission they're about to go on is. I also loved seeing the other death scythes and the setup for ending the conflict with Chrona. It's sad that it seems this series will be ending soon, so far I've enjoyed it from beginning to end. I have a feeling the next several chapters will be great ones.
And Not! is over now? All the more reason to catch up/finish it lol
I think all the opposite, there're still so many loose ends: Noah, the TOC and the Book of Eibon, Angela, the witches hinted coup d'etat, chances we see the third Gorgon sister, the Great Old Ones, and more importantly, the fact Tsubaki, Lizz & Patty and by extension Harvar, Jackie, Fire & Thunder, have yet to become Death Scythe. And Soul isn't even a member of elite yet.
This isn't the end but the beggining of something big.
Chapter 91. Its out.

So they go straight to fighting scenes with absolutely no build up to these villains. At least their designs are cool.
AUGH why does this have to be a monthly series. These chapters just get shorter and shorter. It just doesn't seem worth the wait half the time.
that was a pretty bad chapter :/
What are you talking about, the chapter was great and very suspenseful.
And those kind of enemies who will die very soon don't need any build up. At all.
With this said, I'm really afraid for Stein & Spirit. We already have the first casualties among the Shibusen corps.
I like how this is not just a casual trip to the moon. Sky battles are awesome.
I haven't been interested in soul eater for quite some time now, the pacing and story developments post Arachnophobia just couldn't hold my interest anymore - especially considering its monthly release- and a bunch of introduced-to-be-immediately-beaten villains is always a pet peeve of mine. But if theres one thing the series still got it's art, and those clowns have some damn fine designs.
AUGH why does this have to be a monthly series. These chapters just get shorter and shorter. It just doesn't seem worth the wait half the time.
Well to be fair the author is working on two series.
I can't get over the fact that the moon isn't a metaphor or stylistically drawn or anything, it's just literally always shaped like a grinning demented crescent. I wonder where the blood comes from?
^ Madness, actually. Prior to the Kishin landing there the moon had no blood coming out of it's mouth, and now it's gotten progressively more and more blood leading to the revelation he was on the moon. Some genius on the artist's part there really.
I actually liked this chapter. The fights are intriguing me (which is rare for this series) and I like the character design of the clowns. Can't wait to see how the other death scythes fight.
Noticing that the African DS and the East Asia DS both have respective Meisters, I'm still interested as to why Asuma and Marie's Meister haven't shown up yet. We've seen Stein use Marie occasionally, but with Death being confined to Death City indefinitely, it's obvious Stein is going to be Spirit's Meister. Since they showed Marie and Asuma together, does that mean they're not going to go full weapon form, or that they're going to use each other as Meister/Weapon? I know in the Anime that Sid used Asuma several times, but was it ever shown in the Manga of him doing so? If so, then that's a possibility, too. Seeing Stein dual Wielding Marie and Spirit would be pretty cool, but awkward at the same time, as Spirit is a two-handed weapon and Marie is a tonfa-like weapon in her full-weapon form.
