Ok you did it I changed it..give me a link please.
@Syan:
They recolored Vegeta for his first appearance, shouldn't be much harder to just overlap scenery.
The funny thing: there is a scene involving the "planet traders" when Raditz explains what they do…where Vegeta is still a brunette. Guess nobody's perfect.

Haha! Really? I'll be honest, I haven't watched in much detail so far, but I didn't catch that. Funny.

It's sort of obscured compared to the "Vegeta and Nappa on another planet" scene but it's there. Basically watch the scene where Raditz explains what they do…you won't miss it considering Raditz and Nappa are there as well.
Another thing about that scene is that not only is Vegeta's hair wrong, his armor is wrong as well.
Here is the cover for Dragon Ball Kai Volume 2.
Comes out in September on both dvd and Blu Ray.
That's a pre-ty horrible cover .
Especialy the lack of a background makes the retarded expression Vegeta's doing stand out more . He looks like he's constipated :P
And thus the cycle is complete: from web meme to DVD cover.
That's probably the worst DVD cover I've ever seen.
Maybe but here's the worst thing you've ever seen period.
A classic in horror.
A3ASuJc2Jp0&showinfo=0
That is incredibly painful.
To all the senses.
Did the guys mouths got that big in the actual anime?
You betray me, FUNimation. Chris Ayres is basically doing a Pauline Newstone.
I like the new voice of Freeza, its the fits creepiness of him. Give it some time guys, it was just one line at the end of a episode.
I'm actually sad that Linda Young isn't reprising her role as Freeza… I know you all like to bash on her, but I thought she did a great job. It's weird that she was in episode 1, but only that one... I don't suppose it's possible that Chris only voiced Freeza for this episode and Linda will come back for the next one? ... one can foolishly hope...
Edit: And for those of you who don't like the new cover, we could always switch to those epic covers from japan!
Hey, there is nothing wrong with dragon ball. Of course everyone knows about it because it is one of the most famous anime ever.

It's not. Chris has replaced Linda. I honestly never liked Linda as Freeza. Her voice and performance did not work for the character in any shape or form.

There is plenty wrong with Dragon Ball, but people seem to handwave it because of it's importance in shonen manga and anime.

I think nothing beats…
But that one was never released
Ahhhh 4Kids…
Man, that is the worst. I mean, the logo is covering Luffy's face….and it looks so bland.

I would realy want to see an honest discusion of it's flaws but honestly who could say if such a thing is possible ? :ninja:
Anyways, what do you consider as being wrong with it ?
@ InvaderP : Okay that looks like shit I love how they overlaped Luffy's face there too .

Don't really have the time and patience to go on about it right now. I could post about them later though but basically I have several flaw/issue aspects that I can mention about the series. (moreso later considering they don't really exist in the DB era…more essentially from about Frieza on but some of it can be spotted in the Vegeta arc)
My main issue is :
All fighting turned to basicly just shooting beams out of hands .
The old cast was useless and did nothing (lol at Yamcha)
And arcs had practicaly no plot (almost no new interesting characters , or unique locations) and arcs consisting of nothing but "fight the fodder , fight the mid boss , ifght the top cheese" . Most shounen do this but stuff happens inbetween that somehow affects the future storyline etc. Not a whole lot of plot oriented stuff at all realy .
And the transformation obsession Toriyama sank into after Freeza where all his main villians (all two of them) had multiple "forms" (Boo more so then anything else)
And finaly , the horrible horrible sin that is the Boo/Buu arc .
@No:

Yamcha was useless before DBZ. Tenshinhan and Kuririn at least contributed in their own ways.

Also flying, punching, and destroying landmasses, all done incredibly well with great levels of variety depite boiling down to those basics.

The old cast was useless by the Red Ribbon arc. Goku far outclassed them and none of them were able to beat enemies on their own at that point. Tienshinhan was Goku's equal… for about five minutes. And even he was useless against Piccollo.
Yamcha's lot in life was to be worthless anyway.
And arcs had practicaly no plot
Do you know what the term "plot" means? It might have dragged at times and been fight happy and straightforward, but yes, it DID have a plot.
(almost no new interesting characters , or unique locations)
Every arc had new characters and new locations. Goku had children, for crying out loud. And lets not forget latercomers Trunks, Mr. Satan, and Videl.

The characters aging and having children and saving the world from conquerors doesn't count?
Not a whole lot of plot oriented stuff at all realy .
Sorry there's no void century to find. You can count the Freeza saga if you like. That had ramifications back to the start of Goku's life.
And the transformation obsession Toriyama sank into after Freeza where all his main villians (all two of them) had multiple "forms" (Boo more so then anything else)
A great way to show quickly and easily that the character had become stronger. One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, YuYuHakusho, Yugioh, Shaman King Hunter X Hunter and more all do the same thing. Its a built in storytelling visual.
And finaly , the horrible horrible sin that is the Boo/Buu arc .
Buu was creative fun and interesting, with a great number of surprise twists and turns, as well as a return to comedy and lighthearted fun with moments of epic. It's biggest fault was it was an endseries arc so the powerlevels were planet breaking, it would have been much better served in a pre-Raditz era arc.
I enjoy DB as much as the next person. I grew up with it - it introduced me to this world of anime and manga. But Robby, even your post sounds a bit forced. The plot was a bit recycled.. but that's part of it's charm.
I just love how much King Kai is so surprised by everything that happens when the dude damn well knows he should have mentioned something sooner.
I mostly get annoyed when people go "Cell and Buu sagas sucked" and then they list problems with the series that applied to the series by the time of its fifth volume, let alone its thirty-fifth.
can someone explain to me why with the dub, they kept Vegeto's name even though they had Kakarot?
@mdmartin101:

Because even they knew Vegetot sounded retarded.

IIRC, even Goku points this out.

Technically they got the name right, but chose to spell it differently. Where the hell they got the idea it was spelled "Vegito" is beyond me.
cant wait to see the Ginyu force debut next week ( according to the ads on tv)
this is one of my favorite sagas in DBZ
are the voices the same or are there changes like they did with freeza?
Dodoria and Zarbon have voice changes. Ginyu is looking very likely because Brice Armstrong retired. Considering they're also trying to limit Chris Sabat's roles, I'm pretty sure the Ginyu Special Corps. will be recasted.

thanks for the update..
this should be fun to watch:blink:
I just saw the dub of Dragonball Kai… Vegeta... Nappa... Piccolo... what did they do to the voices?! They voices were so much better during the Dragonball Z dub. Vegeta actually sounded like a badass villain/antihero back then. Now he sounds like Dan Green...

The hell are you talking about? They're the same voice actors. Sabat's Piccolo just sounds far less forced, which is much better.
His Vegeta hasn't really changed at all.
The balls are inert.
I keep meaning to watch Kai but I always seem to miss it.
So how bad is the filler and dragged out scenes in the original Z series? I've heard it's pretty bad. The only thing I remember noticing when I was younger is that the characters would scream for 3 episodes straight while powering up and Gohan laying in the forest forever during the Buu arc.
Dear lord, Broly fanboys make me facepalm.

I love this generalization. Its said SO often that people think its true and they say it easily.
But really it was pretty rare that they'd yell for more than a few moments, and barring final form transformations like Frieza form 4 Perfect Cell's birth, they never spent an entire episode powering up. Super 3 took a couple minutes and that was the longest power up sequence I can think of aside from the transformations I just mentioned.
They might spend 4 or 5 episodes going back and forth beating the shit out of each other and taunting, unleashing more and more of their power, but never was it nonstop yelling and powering up.

Punching and kicking was usualy used for padding , and as for incredibleness , they blow shit up with beams , there simply is no great diversity there .
As for the "locations" found in each arc :
Raditz : random forest
Sayians : rocks
Namek : trees and rocks
Cell : random city and wasteland with a rock platform .
Buu : trees and rocks by the end .

The sad part is most of those posts are from people who've only seen the dubbed versions of those movies.
"Broly is badass!"
He's hellbent on killing Goku because he made him cry as a baby. Yes. Broli's totally a badass.
I don't see why people have it against Dr. Wheelo myself. Any mad scientist that thinks Roshi is the strongest man in the world can't be too stupid…sure out of touch with time and reality but at least he knows class.
Broly seems alright, but he isn't my favorite villain. I think DBZ fanboys just watch DBZ so they can brag to people about how their characters from a show they watch can beat characters from a show other people watch. Forget about the plot. One Broly fanboy stated that the Frieza fight was gay and the whole Goku turning into a Super Saiyan, was gay and that Broly's was epic.

Android 13 was cool, Broly…was tolerable.
Alrighty, so the same source that confirmed the JUMP Special (with Tarble) and Dragon Ball Kai months before the official announcements has confirmed he is working on…a remake of Plan to Exterminate the Saiyans!! While they are using the original animation for reference, they're completely reanimating it from the ground up (probably similar to the Kai opening, ending, title cards, and eyecatches or the Tarble special). Said source suspects this will be for a 3DS game.
Man, I so hope Naoki Tate is the top animator on this. >___< His Dragon Ball work has been pretty great in the past.
