@Deicide:
Blind destruction was never Whitebeard's goal. He could yes destroy islands or raze towns with his power, but that was never his purpose. His ability is a trick one: the strongest uses would be really hard to control, just like an atomic bomb.
Saying that WhiteBeard has no control over his ability is kinda messed up judging by these:

@Uzumaki_D_Kenichi:
WB could have gone around constantly attacking and using his power, but the island would have been destroyed, and Ace was still restrained for most of it, and WBs men ere there. He wasn't going to hurt them just to cause some damage. He was playing smart, and he was planning. He had to try and read into Sengoku's strategy so his men wouldn't get caught like they did, unfortunately, Sengoku is obviously smarter and bested WB here. This latest chapter proves all of this.
First, WhiteBeard doesn't give a shit about the island, he even said to Akainu "try and stop me!" when he started rampaging around.
Second, saying that WhiteBeard is not attacking on purpose is BS. Then why bringing all his men when he can go and destroy the marines by himself? Besides, his crew know exactly when to back off from the battlefield:

Third, I fail to see how Sengoku bested WhiteBeard. :blink: WhiteBeard used coated ships and made a foothold for his sons, using the waves that he predicted Aokiji will try and freeze. Sengoku succeeded in destroying Moby Dick, but WhiteBeard already had another one coated below. The walls were good tho.
@Deicide:
Just because WB is the strongest man in One Piece, but if he could just walk in Marineford and one-shot every single big shot there, then he'd done that decades ago.
Akainu, Kizaru, Aokiji, Garp, Sengoku, not to mention the other Yonkou… there are a lot of strong people out there. Even the strongest can't just treat them like fodder, after all. This is not Dragon Ball, in which the "strongest" of each arc was an unbeatable mofo that was so much faster and stronger that noone could even see him moving.
"he'd done that decades ago"
Huh, so now WhiteBeard does want to bring down the marines? :wassat: I thought it wasn't his purpose but it doesn't really matter.
And comparing manga series from '84 with ongoing ones will only make you look funny. It may not be DB, but is inspired from it, and WhiteBeard having the power to "destroy the world", does make him an "unbeatable mofo". Even more unbeatable than Goku in Dragon Ball (not Z).
@Deicide:
He fought Aokiji, Kizaru AND Akainu (not at the same time) and was swarmed by scores of Captains, Vice-Admirals and others and prevailed. Really, I don't see him as weak as you see. To defeat Akainu, it took the same blow that destroyed the main Marine HQ! He couldn't fight all-out while Ace was still imprisoned; now that he failed at saving Ace, Whitebeard has no reason to hold back his might.
You kidding me? Whitebeard DID try to destroy the platform while Ace was there:

And noone says WhiteBeard is weak. Thats exactly the point - he's not weak but he was supposed to use this power and we didn't see much of it. So, we are disappointed. Obviously you had less expectations for him than us.
