Where can I buy the Japanese weekly "Shonen Jump" online, beside from YAJ?

Most of us do to a degree, just don't become a suck up.

@Mr.:
Way to deflect from the fact that you know nothing about religious icons or mythological deities. I do know how paramecia's work btw.
The problem about you is that you think googling something is the same as knowing. You're so stuck to your little scarecrow theory that all you do is denying the obvious direction this will take (i.e. vodoo cult). And remind me again which one of Hawkins power is in any way similiar to those of the scarecrow shinto gods? Yeah, you got nothing.

Why would you ever do that.
Japanese jump is a disposable pulpy phonebook basically that people in Japan pick up like a newspaper on the way to work.
Buy the tankobans, that's why they exist.
-
It used to be nice to pick up when there was a cool colourspread.
But now Color Walk's resumed, that point has essentially become moot too.
-
if sengoku can have a buddah zoan, hawkins should have a haille selassie zoan

Whoah. Whoah. There's too much negative energy in here. First of all lets do away with these barbs and the conceit (which I admit i am also partly guilty of) and move on to a friendly debate. FYI I knew it beforehand without having to google it, but no one cares . I digress though. Riddle me this: if he's simply a straw "paramecia" then why are his abilities so versatile? But since when does simple straw have the characteristics of voodoo? It's not like he's just straw. He has the ability to transfer damage to other people along with transforming into a scarecrow. Also the nails that come along with his transformation further suggest that. Luffy is rubber, jozu is diamond, and its as simple as that. They don't have some extra ability unrelated to their matter like hawkins does. What do you classify him as? Voodoo paramecia wouldn't explain the straw transformation. Since when do Daibutsus create shockwaves? Mythical zoans are much more complex which is why I believe he is one. Who here thought that Sengoku was a paramecia before Oda confirmed he was a zoan? And let's do away with the representation of a deity for a second. Sengoku is not Buddha himself and so if Oda is using different human-like icons/statues for his hito hito fruits then its probable that a scarecrow can be considered one.

Poison paramecia wouldn't explain how Magellan can create a poison giant and control it if the power was just an ability to produce poisons. Paramecia type powers aren't that simple, otherwise they would be boring.

I agree that it may be a mythical zoan, but probably not Hito Hito no mi. Although the form change is humanesque it is not really a 'type' of human. Although to be fair we have only seen two hito hito fruits, so I could be wrong. I'd place my bets on some type of m.zoan

:wassat: But…it was a giant made of poison, just like the hydras were made of poison. He just changed the shape of it but it was still poison. Poison.

You mean the transformation where he turns into something akin to a giant voodoo doll, and his fingers turn into giant nails such as you would use to prick a voodoo doll.

Well i can say for a fact that it's not logia because Kizaru said it was not so either zoan or paramecia i am hoping for zoan because most of the current zoans are boring.
-
Guess you'll have to stick with the boring Zoans then… :(

Kizaru: I don't know what powers those are… but you've got a physical form, so you can't be a Logia.
-
Do we really need confirmation that it's not a logia?
-
Nope. But some guy asked for confirmation that Kizaru actually said that, so I did my best to give it to him.
-
sorry i missread your previous post but ty for finding that for me :)

Is there no new chapter this week?

Sadface. Thanks.

I need a good AP discussion thread where DemonRin and company slammed down the idea that nakama is a super special untranslatable word. I don't know if there's a thread for such questions and this is the closest thing I could find.

This is the only thread i can find where DemonRin and company talk about the word nakama. From what i read it is a good discussion about it.

I was checking through the one piece wiki and came across magellan , then im looking at abilities and powers and it says Doku-Doku no mi is Paramecia. Now im like WTH , I was sure this power was logia, we saw bullets go through him in impel down just like a logia power would so my question is , is Doku Doku no mi really Paramecia??
-
It is really a paramecia. Magellan can produce posion but he can't turn into the element himself. Logias have to turn into the element to be classified as a Logia.Other examples of this are Doru Doru no mi and the Awa Awa no mi
-
Yes. He can't change himself into poison–he can control and create it, but not become it.
-
Why is that anyways? Why would Oda make Caribou, Akainu, and Aokiji logias but make Mr. 3 and Magellan paramecias?

Mud, Lava/Magma and Ice are found in nature. Wax and Poison aren't.

@Mr.:
I know that this is going to rupture a plothole but how come Ace was surprised that BB was able to hit him when he's been hit by Garp, Whitebeard and Jinbei?
There's quite a number of interesting plotholes concerning Ace, actually, lol. Like how Luffy crashed into him [and Smoker] during the Alabasta Arc and how he didn't use haki on Smoker during his fight with him to delay his assault on the Straw Hats (though I admit the latter moment could be because he simply doesn't know haki).
Concerning the BB moment, though, I think it was just due to the fact that it totally caught him unexpected, supported with the idea that, other than Kairouseki and Haki, there was no other way to make Logia's tangible again; BB's fruit, however, proved this ideal wrong, most likely catching Ace off guard.

Poison is found in nature though.
Not that it matters.

Actually I cant remember what episodes of the show but we saw magellan transform into poison multiple times

That was an anime mistake.
-
He coated his body in poison but he never actually turned into it. It may look like his body turns into poison but it really it is just covered in it as a sort of armour.
-
That was an anime mistake.
Ah ok I see , still dont really understand how he is not a Logia

Why is that anyways? Why would Oda make Caribou, Akainu, and Aokiji logias but make Mr. 3 and Magellan paramecias?
For Mr. 3, it's pretty obvious that Oda didn't want to introduce a broken character as early as Alabasta. It's bad enough that Crocodile and Enel were Logia, but it would've been disastrous if they were unbeatable. Since wax doesn't have nearly as effective of a hand wave as sand, it just wasn't time to introduce logia.
As for Magellan, I think the only good explanation is that one of Blackbeard's haki-illiterate allies needed to be able to defeat him.
-
Ah ok I see , still dont really understand how he is not a Logia
A lot of people don't realize that he is a paramecia so some people don't understand just like you. Its a common mistake that is esaily made. The main thing that sets him apart from Logia users is that he can't become the element. That is what classifies Logias as Logias.

Now the obvious answer is "Obviously YES" but hear me out. Oda created one piece as a story that he wanted to do, and sometimes it comes out in a way that seems like the weekly format does not work. Not nessisarly for the manga itself but as how it is presented story wise. With other manga such as Naruto, Yu-gi-oh, and others of the sort there is generally an ongoing story, but many times there are also individual "stories" within each individual chapter, or even over multiple chapters, but usually there is some sort of closure that is accomplished within a chapter or two. However I feel that Oda Has incredibly long stories that I feel that are halted ubrubtly by the weekly format. I think Oda's work is just made as he likes and the weekly "Chapters" are many times (not always of course) just a few pages of a much longer "Chapter" that eventually released over the next few weeks. And I feel that if Oda had more free range over what he could do with one piece and how mich time he was alloted both the chapters and the collected vomumes would look much different. Thoughts?
-
Interesting. I would love to see Oda in the context of a monthly serialization. Maybe he will do a seinen a few years after One Piece is over.

He's stated that he wouldn't be doing any more weekly manga after One Piece. And then there were the comments that he was interested in doing a mecha at one point in the future. So it would be interesting to see something like a monthly seinen mecha.

I think Oda would do an awesome version of Lupin III
