I can't answer your question but they were also seen before when the crew first went into the calm belt.

Ok thanks, Alucar, I knew i saw them in another place.
Why are some characters so tall? Garp, Sengoku, the three admirals, Crocodile, Doflamingo, etc are 8 ft+ ? I would guess to make them more important or menacing? But, I'm guessing someone like Roger was pretty average, because he and Rouge got together. I don't think height's ever been addressed by Oda, although I'm not sure. I understand One Piece is a manga, but I'm still curious…
Cause it all comes down to who has the bigger schlong.

The closest Oda has gone to ever explain the outrageous heights of the people in the One Piece world was through Chopper, in this very arc actually. All he said was that big people are simply big.
Though there are artificial giants, I don't think they have anything to with the various sizes of people. As for the size of Roger i'm guessing he was roughly the same height as Silvers. I forget if it's very clear during their battle with Shiki, but he and the crew are all standing together.
Still mate size apparently doesn't matter, just look at Otohime and Neptune. Not to mention Big Pan/Bun was the off spring of a giant and a fishman. Of course his fish parent could have just been as big as Neptune but not quite as big as a giant which led to his medium size.
Add to the odd size is that some were "normal" (by real world standards) sized but continued to grow to tower over others.
In Whitebeard's mini flashback to his youth when the crew he was with asked what treasure he was interest in (a family), he wasn't too different in size to them. Some may think "well they were really tall too".
I don't think so, the Boa sisters are good examples. When they were really young(Hancock was 7 in Strongworld), Hancock, Sandersonia & Marigold were almost same height. When they escaped Marijois, Hancock was only slightly smaller than Marigold and about 2 heads shorter than Sandersonia. But now Marigold & Sandersonia are nearly same height but tower over Hancock.
as slaves (they were captured when Hancock was 12)
they escaped 4 years later (Hancock was 16)
as they now appear
IF we wanted to apply a real world reason why some people continued to grow beyond normal sizes, we could use one type of gianticism (there are multiple reasons, including tumor pressing on pituitary glands) … the pituitary gland contiues to send out growth hormones even after age when it should have slowed down so the person continues to grow. Those with this type of gianticism stay in porportion and don't develop some of the malformations shown in other types of gianticism, ...wich i could go into more but forgotten it

Sandersonia is using partial transformation all of the time when she gets older, she doesn't have the snake tongue when she is small nor does she have it when they are teens presumably when she got the fruit because partial transformation needs to be trained. That was random but I just wanted to point that out.
The more I think about the height issue, the more I think that the answer is: 'because Oda said so.'
Also, Marigold went through some kind of training that sumo wrestlers do.
Some people just have large bodies in One Piece. Just like how some people have horns or look like apes. It's just how Oda rolls.

It's called eating.
Considering that giants have different sizes in different panels, I wouldn't "waste" too much thought on it. It's just Oda's style.
Did the WG ever find out about Crocodile's plan to get his hands on one of the ancient weapons ?
Does it bother anyone else that Moria never even mentioned wanting to get his hands on Rogers corpse? You would think that would be an obvious crowned jewl for him.

Well what really matter is the strength of the shadow that he would put in the corpse. If Roger didn't have some gigantic super muscular body with ridiculous physical strength like Oz then I don't see it as too much of a must-have.
I can also imagine it being kinda difficult to get Rogers corpse from the Marines morgue.

Considering that the Marines at first didn't wantt o hand over Whiteberad & Ace's corpes…saying "taking their heads will show the Marines victory!"(ggod thing Shanks didn't let them) and when Moriah wanted Oars Jr's corpse, he wanted it whole and not cut up as Doflomingo did.
I think its safe to say Moria never got the chance to get to even consider taking Roger's corpse. No one ever fought to save Roger (his crew already knew he was dying and let him choose how to finally end it- in a bed or with his pride) Its safe tos ay the Marines took his head, therefore his corpse wouldn't be in top shape (yoo hoo for he had no head) so nope Moraih wouldn't ahve interest in the damaged remains

Not really, the body isn't important, the shadow is.
Oars and Oars Jr. were an exception because their sheer size sets them apart from a normal corpse. More weight >>> more power. Roger's corpse would be just rotten flesh without any extra benefits.
Proof of that theory would be that Sanji's Zombie wasn't weaker, despite it being a freaking penguin (the clashes between him and Zoro's Zombie showed they are more or less equals, as always - tho Zoro had a proper Samurai corpse).
What IS strange is that he never went for some of the grade-A shadows during the war.

That's true.
My guess is that the "shadow stealing" is one of those super hax abilities that only work when the target is disabled or caught by surprise. Similar to Law's "Shamble's", which he apparently could only use on Smoker after he knocked him out.

He did i remember him trying to take Luffy and Jinbe's shadows but Jinbe owned him lol.
Wasn't it also daylight outside?

This. Which means that as soon as he took a shadow the owner would die and he would lose the shadow.

Maybe by the time Moriah figured he could implant shadows in a dead persons body Roger was long dead. I mean he only learned a new aspect of his power after fighting Luffy after all.
Unlike what a few people said before me a shadow is only part of the zombies power. Denguin said he could not fight the way he wanted in that penguin body, and the whole reason Ryuma was stronger than Brook was because Ryuma was stronger when he was alive and had Brook's shadow. Brook made it clear a strong body plus a strong shadow makes a powerful zombie.
Totally unrelated to everything else but I just found Coribou
yeah i'm super bored sorry

He was stealing shadows during the war, though. With no issue.
Might have been a continuity error.

overcast? he was taking marine shadows pretty much and we know they had casualties on both sides, so it might have simply never been mentioned that they died.

But then, why didn't he lose the shadows immediately?
he did when jimbei smashed him didn't he? and i don't think he loses the shadows when the original body dies, atleast that was never my understanding. He was going to keep luffy's shadow for Oz and was pretty much going in for a killing blow against him.
something that's bugged me for a long time though is that thriller bark was shrouded in mist, how the f*ck did the sun rise at the end of the fight?

Luffy's shadow in Oars body went on a 'rampage' (more like child-like mind of Luffy havign fun in way too big body) and damaged a lot includign the mast. So Thriller Bark got off course and drifted out of the mist, thats how.
As for Moriah at Marineford. I know that he took some fallen bodies and had some that were already 'prepared' meaning already-made zomibies waiting to be used), but I don't don't remember him stealling actual shadows there.(if so please give link to page).
I got the impression its the owner's body that dissolves in sunlight because of lack of a shadow. I can't remember a zombie that descroyed by sunlight, again if someone can give a link I'd appreicate it. Until then I will have to think its this and not the opposite=
Zombie - destroyed by salt
shadowless body - destroyed by sunlight

Zombies don't die in the sunlight… But Brook said that if the original owner of the shadow died (for example, burned in the sunlight), then the shadow itself would disappear, rendering the zombie immobile. This was important, because it was the reason why the M3 were taken back to the Thousand Sunny. Also, Moria did steal a few shadows at Marineford, but he didn't put them into zombies, he put them into himself.
looking for the page where he takes marine shadows, and i agree about the sunlight/salt part, no zombies died from sunlight, just the original body. What i had understood people were saying from previous posts is that when the body dies the shadow would disappear from it's zombie counter-part, unless i'm just tired and skipping important parts of text.
not exactly as i remembered it, http://www.mangareader.net/103-33745-7/one-piece/chapter-558.html , but he still mentions the more corpses there are the more zombies he can make, all of which require a shadow, do corpses keep their shadows after death though? have a feeling this is another never ending conversation ._.
How much would you pay for the next chapter early? And how much would you pay for the next 100? And would it be worth it to not have a new one to read for the next x chaps?
i'd pay Oda his 15 years worth of salary to slave in my basement and finish OP in the shortest possible time, so not reading for x chapters won't be a problem. I'd also tie him up afterwards and force him to write sequels for the interesting characters, like he'll i'd let the OPverse die. (atleast for myself)

if you count brook as a dead person then yes yohohoho but the zombie with brook's shadow said he let brook live because if brook died he would as well even thou he was also already dead yohohoho

I always thought he needed the dead bodies to put the shadows in, hence the more corpses the more zombies. And then he needs living people's shadows to put into the corpses thus making zombies.
On the side of if someone dies does the zombie with their shadow die too? I say yes because I believe the shadow's in OP for Moria are somewhat linked to the soul of the person too(how the fighting techniques/ mannerisms transfer over)

go reread or watch the arc again if the person dies without the shadow then no body.
Where was Brook born? Or at least where is he from?
I know Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji are East Blue, Robin is West Blue, Franky is South Blue, and Chopper is Grandline. But is it ever said where Brook is from, other than Rumbar Pirates were from West Blue?

Most likely West Blue, considering he lived on a certain kingdom before being recruited by the Rumbar Pirates, who only travelled through the West Blue and the first half of the Grand Line.
@Elektrik:
Sanji are East Blue
Sanji is from the North Blue.
@400MillionBelis:
Sanji is from the North Blue.
Sanji was born in North Blue but lived most of his pre-Strawhat in East Blue. He consider the East Blue as his home.
Also… Is anyone who know how Buggy ended up being a part of Gol D. Roger crew? It seem that all the others were very powerful or became very powerful later (for Shanks). Is that possible that Buggy had the potential to become as powerful as Shanks but was too lazy to train?
Are you implying that Buggy isn't the strongest OP character?
Are you implying that Buggy isn't the strongest OP character?
… Of course! Captain Buggy-sama is the strongest OP character. He just keep his power hidden so he won't destroy the world! I should have noticed sooner!

When has comic relief ever been shown to be the strongest character - he isn't really all that threatening good bluffer and lucky though.

Well it is hard to know whose serious and whose just kidding around - just look at the Moriah worshipers.
Anyone liking Moria is kidding.

Kaido(u) is one of my favorite characters in One Piece, without even knowing that much about him, simply because he beat the snot out of Moriah and crew.
tl;dr I hate Moriah.
