I'm a little confused about the translation of the pirate king's last words. I've heard many translations; you'll have to search the whole world, i left it in one piece, i left it there in that place. I'm wondering how it relates to the term "One Piece" at all, or is a mistranslation? does he say that he did indeed leave it "one piece", and also at "that place". I always thought the wording was odd. What does "One Piece" truly mean?

ITs said that Shanks first formed the Redhair pirates with BOTH Ben and Yasopp, Shanks first met Yasopp 20 years before the begining of series, yet Usopp was born 17 years before the begining, three years after Shanks & Yasopp met. Then add whatever ammt of time Yasopp stayed with his wive & son, we know that Banchina died 'shortly after Yasopp left' . Funny thing is that 'short time' could be 6 months to 2 years, we just don't know. So we assume at least Usopp was anywhere aroud 3-5 when Yasopp left. That would be at the very least 5 to maybe 7 years after Shanks first Yasopp to when Yasopp left Syrup Village.
Sure it could be that Yasopp did not join until after he left his home. But the databook said that Shanks first started his crew with Benn and Yasopp. I really doubt that Shanks waited so long after Roger's death to start the Redhairs.
also, I think it was said that Yassop couldn't stay at the island because he had to answer the call of the sea. Yassop was the one that said this and I don't think you can ever answer to the call of the sea if you haven't actually been on the sea before. What I do find strange though, Shanks presumably would have picked up Yassop in East Blue and many years later, Shanks is at Luffy's island (Fushia village?) where he has been for quite while. What the devil has he been doing in East Blue so much??? Did he stay in East blue for 6 years or even more? Did he travel around? Did he want to hide till he/his crew were strong enough to venture in the New Wolrd after knowing the dangers by experiencing it first hand as one of Rogers "students"?

Nope, in the very begining of ch 1 its said that Shanks crew has been using that village for nearly a year.
Gave a link to a scanitation but checked my book, only difference is that the offical translatio says "A year ago", not the scan's "Almost a year ago". Its implied that they are taking a break off from the Grand Line.(though not actually saying that) So they were actually only taking a year long vacation in East BlueDid he want to hide till he/his crew were strong enough to venture in the New Wolrd after knowing the dangers by experiencing it first hand as one of Rogers "students"?
When Benn fights the mountain bandits in ch 1 (pg 40 in the VIZ book) he gives a measure of their strenght and nope they are not weak. He tells the bandits that "If you wanna fight us … you better bring a ballteship." The Battleship is the biggest ship the marines use and when we them, its comanded by Vice-Admirals.
While Smoker and Hina had big ships when they were captains, those ships are small next to a battleship. Sot eh Redhairs have to be strong at that point to vaidate that comment. Thats why I say it sounds like they were taking a vacation.

Icefae:
He left all of his treasure in/as one piece. As in, he gathered it all together and set it in a single spot. When you say that _____ is in one piece, you mean that nothing is missing and everything is unharmed. You might have heard the expression, "Well, at least you're all in one piece" before.Japanese obviously doesn't follow the same specific grammar rules, which lets the idiom stand as a proper noun, and results in some slightly funky English versions that try to get across the same feeling. I don't speak Japanese, but I'd imagine that there's an implied location in the sentence that suggests Raftel.
-
yeah i've heard of the phrase "in one piece" before and that seems the most obvious to me. I'm just wondering how and why this isn't standardized, because it seems simple enough (but i am fluent in english so perhaps im a bit biased). even the official viz manga adaption doesn't seem to have the wording correct. it's just strange that there are errors at all.

Where do you think Garp's marine training camp/base would be?

Well he put up the sign declaring that its a new base right on the shore of Fushia Village (Foosha? Windmill?).
So its on Dawn Island and I think it'll be next to the village itself due to that sign. -

yeah anime makes it hard to know whats canon and whjats filler. To be honest, I had to search for that one. Often I have a genreal idea where to start my search in the manga. But to find that chapter I had to go to OP wiki to see if they gave a refernce to it. Checked Dawn Island, no mention at all, went to Garp, it was mentioned but no reference, went to Makino and found the chapter that was refernced. LOL

I was just thinking, have we seen a single female logia user? And Im talking about cannon material, not like that woman in the first movie with a liquid logia.
-
Nope, unless you count Tashigi in Smoker's body.
-
Will be interesting to see how many female pirates there are in the NW and if any of them have Logia's or anything other then paramecia's.

A question about Oda:
Ok… I know One Piece is the most popular in Japan, however, Oda does have many fans of his hit-series outside of Japan. It's a given that Oda can speak Japanese, but, can Oda speak any other language; or at least, understand any other language well?

I don't know, but I think he uses words from a foreign language correctly, at least I can't recall any errors concerning the named attacks in OP. Opposed to Kubo…

What will happen once Usopp runs out of his Pop-green seeds?
And
Does anyone else think there is now a Humandrill who mimicks Zoro's sword techniques and is (im guessing) 2nd in command under the one who is mimicking Mihawks.
-
I can imagine Usopp growing his own plants to get their seeds.

Well they're plants so I'm assuming he just grows the seeds. He probably has a little garden in his workshop now.
As for the humandrills, the one mimicking Mihawk was filler. They might mimic Zoro know, but the one that mimicked Mihawk, and Mihawk telling him to fight the rest of them was filler.

That's what I thought as well, it makes sense and it would be sweet to see carnivorous plants guarding the Sunny!

I would lean more to he gets them from Hammer Space OR he collects them from the plants after the battle is over. Also the Mihawk Humandrill is only filler for the time being - I think a few things that happened with the pre-TS events might have been fleshed out drafts rather then pure filler - however we'll never know till we get some background on what happened then, till then it is safer to assume it is filler though.

.Actually, take a look at the page that explains the popgreens has Heralces and Usopp going through plants that were much smaller to get the seeds than the actual plants that were used. Don't know how… but they are gathering the seeds in a group of plants that barely up to their knees

An opinion-based question:
Do you think Luffy will ever become…smarter(?), and, actual enter a relationship with anyone; maybe having a child or 2? Of course... This would be seen in an epilogue scene, after Luffy becomes the Pirate King--if he becomes the Pirate King. Luffy seems very similar to Gol D. Roger, and, even Gol D. Roger "did the deed" with Portgas D. Rouge and had a child with her.

Not before he grows a 'stache.

Thank God no…
I'm pretty sure Oda stated that there will never be two sided romance in the series. -

I'm pretty sure Oda stated that there will never be two sided romance in the series. It really isn't "two sided romance" if it happens in a single, long(ish) epilogue scene AFTER the main conflict etc. have been resolved. (There's already been implied two sided romance in One Piece, whether you want it or not; the exact thing I'm speaking about with Luffy and someone). So–not to sound rude--no idea what you're talking (or complaining) about, really.

Fair enough. Maybe afterwards, I still doubt it though.
I'm just saying that the writer and creator of One Piece has said there will be no romance. So what he says trumps anything we can think up. Even if its "implied two sided romance". So whether you "want it or not" you can bank on there being no romance (or at least what Oda considers romance).

I think by romance he means…like...a romance forming over the course of the series; a man and woman falling in love, that's pretty observable (i.e. Simon and Nia Teppelin in Gurren Lagann). I think that's what Oda means when he says "No romance!". Having a scene with old Luffy, his "lover", and children standing together after the series is basically concluded really isn't romance.
-
Well if Oda was going to have a strawhat be married in the epilogue, it would definitely not be Luffy or Zoro(and obv chopper), the two who were not moved by Hancocks appearance after the skip. I could not ever see either one of them being in love. The only one that has a good chance of passing Oda's no romance rule is Usopp who already promised to come back and tell her of his adventures.

Luffy and Zoro are too focused-in on their goal currently, I'd be willing to say, more than every other Strawhat member. Once they accomplish the major goal they have set form themselves, I think, anything's possible. (Also, Luffy anyway, is still kinda-sorta a child).

In sabaody, Brook said that he had heard of Roger when he was a rookie. That means that Roger was an active pirate 50 years ago?

Brook's cooment was he heard of a rookie named Roger, and frankly we really don't know when Roger started, just that he reached Raftel 23 years before the start of the series. Lets start with that, it would mean that Roger was a rookie about 25-27 years before his death. Sounds reasonable to me, I can accept that Roger was a rookie 50 years ago.

Just curious, what are all of your favourite Luffy quotes relating to his 'perseverance'?
eg. "Until I beat you, I'm not going down" - Luffy to Lucci

seeds are used to grow plants also the one that used mihawk's attacks might have changed to Zoro's after losing to him…...

Most people will have a different answer for that so you should not be asking it in here.

Yes, I am well aware of that, as I wanted a plethora of 'famous' quotes. Also, I have used the search button and there seems to be no quotes thread or a better thread to ask.

I've got a translation question, which I'm guessing would go in here. In the two pages below the word "reinforcement" is used to describe usage of Haki. Could anyone look up whether they are actually the same term in Japanese? I'm under the impression that they are probably not, since the consensus on Luffy's technique is "Hardening", but it would be good to know for sure.

Is there a specific reason why Enel doesn't have wings? I thought he was from Birka like his priests and Urouge, so shouldn't he have them as well? Did I read something wrong?

First, I don't think that the wings are natural, but more like tribal markings and other accessory. Nothing was ever confirmed I think, so I'm going with this.
It would explain while Enel doesn't have them, since he is the selfproclaimed god and naturally doesn't wear them like the "rabbel". Of course he could have ripped them off as well, but I think then we would see some scars etc.

I know that Luffy stil is very dumb but i also think that Rayleighs training made him smarter
-
Luffy isn't really stupid as much as he doesn't bother thinking deeply about things. And that, he'll never change. It's been implied that Roger was pretty much the same way. They are just extremely impulsive and instinct-driven people who prefer to take things as they come, deal with the bad stuff if it happens.
-
Is there a specific reason why Enel doesn't have wings? I thought he was from Birka like his priests and Urouge, so shouldn't he have them as well? Did I read something wrong?
I think Enel removed his. One of his rants when destroying Angel Beach/Shandian village was that they were not natural, that they were suppose to live on Vearth not on clouds. He went tot he moon beacuse its the "Fairy Verth".
But that doesn't explain why Gan Fall, Skypeia's God, doesn't have wings. Its something that we should ask Oda
-
Does Fan Fall really not have wings? I always thought they were just tucked in.
-
I don't remeber seeing them … but then I really can't remember what Gan Fall looked like in the flashback. There was one where he offered pumpkin juice to the delegation from the Shandian village in the last peace talks. Wiper saw the offer as in insult as the Shandians hold pumpkin juice sacred (due to Norland introducing it to his ancestors). I don't think Gan Fall was wearing armor in that flashback but I don't remember wings but I could be wrong
Edit- I remembered that Gan Fall appeared with the Shandian chieftan on the cover during the mini-arc "From the Decks of the World". It clearly shows him without wings=
So even if I can come up with an excuse why Enel has no wings, I create another question of why Gan Fall doesn't
