Shit, I forgot about it. Oh well, I'll watch the new opening on youtube or something later, and that's it.
373: "The Conclusion Arrives! Deliver the Finishing Blow"
-
-
the music was hard, it was jammin. Just because you made super high expectations and drew to your own conclusions that didnt happen, doesnt mean it sucked
this will probably be the first time i ever attack greg but…do you know what R@B music is?
-
I took me a while to figure out that that was Alvida next to Buggy. I found it odd that Lucci was the only one of CP9 to get in.
Well, they included only the 'main boss" from each arc. Alvida was the first villain Luffy ever faced, they had to add her.
Episode was awesome though, but thats still a poor consolation.
lol wut. With great episodes like this i wouldn't mind even if there wasn't any opening at all.
-
haha god that's definitely one of the worst anime openings I've ever heard
-
Nothing specifically about this opening (except the song being ASS,
but I kinda expected that. Haven't liked a song since Hikari E.), but I sure hate the anime character design.
It works for SOME of them, like Shanks, or the characters who just look outright strange in the manga.
Luffy though, doesn't have a "oda-style grin" in this OP (or in the last 3 or so).
He has some kind of weird shit-eater retard grin. Mind, this is not about grinning in itself,
because Luffy has a huge grin on his face most of the time. To me, this character's face just doesn't look like Luffy.
I know I should be ashamed of this blatant nitpicking… but I just can't get over it, hahaha. Sorry!that grin thing is true, but Oda's art style changed so did the grin….the only thing i think looks wierd is Luffys nose from the side view...it used to be pointy
-
That was quite a good opening. You all are on crack.
I loved that it had no spoilers, and I thought the remix was great! I find it sounds better than the original We Are, which all and all had a "low audio quality" sound to it.
-
I'd hate to listen to the shit you guys listen to if you like that abomination of an opening song
-
lol wut. With great episodes like this i wouldn't mind even if there wasn't any opening at all.
Same here actually, but too bad we don't get great episodes like this every week, unlike that opening.
-

I'd say "right back at ya", but all in all, I question if you can hear all that well.
Be civil, I'm only messing with you. We have conflicting opinions, let's not make this into a war.
-
this will probably be the first time i ever attack greg but…do you know what R@B music is?
Oh no you didn't!
But yeah, not a fan of this remix. It seems to fall flat from it's use of electronic tones for music instead of real… well, music! I hope this opening isn't sticking around too long.
So, I think we got a project on our hands. Someone should switch up the music from this new OP with the old version, and we'll see how it looks then.
-
This opening will probably stick around for AT LEAST 30 episodes, so you might as well embrace it. In fact, I say it has the opportunity to stick around for over 100 episodes due to it being, well, We Are. But to do that they'd need to change up the animation… which is possible.
-
im really hoping Greg doesnt come pwn my ass
-
I'd say "right back at ya", but all in all, I question if you can hear all that well.

what, it's not like I insulted anybody, only their music taste
-
Well, a lot of people consider insulting their tastes insulting them, cause their tastes are, well… them.
-
People need to grow some thicker skin then
-
The animation is Awesome… The animation sucks.... The song is amazing... The song is shit... This really pisses me off!!! But this is the freaking internet and I shouldn't expect everyone to agree with one another. Oh well its not like the Brand New World wasn't bitched by the internet when it was a new opening.
-
You guys do realize that you only heard a really LQ version of it, and the regular version probably sounds a lot better, right?
-
-

Drops war battlements Aww man. Kicks dirt I wanted war….
Nah seriously. That Opening held true to the adventure aspect of op and was actually quite fitting considering it's like they're starting their journey all over again once they reach the red line. But as a song and opening themselves, that sucked balls. If it wasnt a remix of we are i could live with the song, but it's the same words to such a ridiculously different beat. It doesnt make alot of sense to do that, might as well just use a new song. And the opening, well... yeah... >.>
-
Wow, Moria isn't in it at all. They remembered to keep that giant slash on Odz's chest, but neglected to put Moria in the cockpit. Go figure.
My final remarks on the music: too much electronica, too little music. It sounds very lifeless when compared to the original We Are!.
-
-
The animation is really what makes the new OP compared to the music. The music just isn't as alive as the original but the visuals aren't bad. My only complaint is what they could have done if they had a few more weeks to do this instead of immediately doing it with the start of a new anime season.
1. Brook as one of the SHs
2. Moria with the "parade of villains", Odz in that scene or not
3. The real missing link: SABAODY ARCHIPELAGO FORESHADOWING! I wouldn't expect them to do every friggin thing in the entire arc but to at least show Caimie, Pappug and Duval, maybe also hinting at the Supernovas, Rayleigh/Shakkie, Kizaru and Sentoumaru, that would have made it as epic as the original OP when some non-manga reader has no idea who these guys are…then hits themselves when they get past the first season. -
That opening wasn't as bad as people are making it out to be. It is in no way the best One Piece opening out there, yet it's also not as bad as Crazy Rainbow was.
The visuals were great. I didn't mind not seeing any supernovas or Duval and Camie yet. I also don't see why people are complaining that Brook wasn't featured as a Straw Hat, yet they panned on him for a good twenty seconds towards the end of the opening. At least he was IN the opening unlike Franky in Crazy Rainbow. I also liked that they included almost every character from all the past arcs, and Going Merry as well.
Not the best One Piece opening out there, but it's not bad either.
-

What? It's MORE alive than the original. The original wasn't really that energizing, it was rather calm.
-
I'm sorry, but what bizzaro world are you living in? Compare the same parts of the song, and the remake sounds downright wimpy in comparison.

They're not going to because there is a glorious filler arc (or arcs) that awaits us after Thriller Bark is over
-
Just because you made super high expectations and drew to your own conclusions that didnt happen, doesnt mean it sucked
And just because people like it doesn't mean it didn't suck ass to others.
this will probably be the first time i ever attack greg but…do you know what R@B music is?
Yes, which is exactly why I corrected myself. I made that comment after only listening once and then watching the episode and coming back. I made it because the one vocalist's voice was the one thing that stuck in my mind and it seemed like a cheap attempt to impersonate EXILE. On a second listen through I realized the 'shit pop' aspect of the instrumental section and realized it was Johnny's meets EXILE in an orgy of bamboo shoots inserted in my ears.
Yes indeed.
And after watching the HQ version I must say, style-wise, minus the oddly out of place Odr scene and THE HOLY X SCENE, it's one of my favorite openings for its lack of filler (as far as I could tell) characters and its clever take on the progression of the series…on mute.
-
Probably my 1st-2nd favorite opening to date. I'm glad there aren't any spoilers.
I also liked the flashing of the villians - From where the first two openings left off.
EDIT - The only qualm I have is that Moria and Spandam were not portrayed with the flash of villians. They are important characters, but you can't get everything - I still enjoyed it.
-
Alright, now that there's a higher quality version out:
Final verdict from me: not bad.
The animation was pretty good, but there were too many still shots. The visuals were overall great, with my only disapointment being that they didn't even HINT towards the next arc, which was something I really wanted for this opening. The song sounds a bit better in high quality, though I was suprised to find myself liking the vocals a lot less. There's just no energy to the words. I still don't really like the music, though it's not bad, and I liked a few of the touches they put in. It's just that what they did with the music doesn't really fit the actual song that well, imo, and that nearly ruined the opening for me. Overall, though, the visuals make up for the mostly off song, so I wouldn't say it's the worst opening, but with all of the completely awesome openings (and the fact that it replaced JUNGLE P!), I'd rank it kinda low.
-
I agree with Crosswords about the music being over synthesized, along with the vocalists being a tad too effeminate
And after watching the HQ version I must say, style-wise, minus the oddly out of place Odr scene and THE HOLY X SCENE, it's one of my favorite openings for it's lack of filler (as far as I could tell) characters and its clever take on the progression of the series…on mute.
I agree that the opening is good in that respect. There was a bit too much panning on still frames or near motionless character models, but it excels in a nostalgic sort of way to show longtime viewers just how long the series has come.
-
@Mr.:
They're not going to because there is a glorious filler arc (or arcs) that awaits us after Thriller Bark is over
Yeah, I assume that this opening will be around for the remainder of Thriller Bark, the potential filler arcs to come, and possibly a couple of episodes into the Duval encounter or at the Sanbody Archipalego (sp?). Then they may go with another opening that will have components from those respective arcs.
Thought on the new opening: It's pretty good. I like the animation and song is easy to listen to. It shows off practically every important character that's made an appearance, except the rest of CP9, Moria, and the 3 Enigmas (weird). But it did have Crocodile and Enel come out .
-
What would everyone's opinion of the song be if it wasn't coupled with the animation nor the opening; if it was just a stand alone cover song?
-
I took screencaps from the new opening.
!
-
Buuhan, you should know by now that you CANNOT go against the flow of the people here. If they say it sucks, IT MUST SUCK! Amirite?
I think it would have been better as like a special song … dunno how it'll hold up as an opening. Regardless, I liked it, and if someone else hates it... well good for you.
Omg… the Opening is... worse than Jungle-p.
And i can't believe they actually showed every villian BUT MORIA!
And Bellamy =P
-
Wow. Now that's what I was looking for in a finishing move. They did an excellent job on Gigante Bazooka and Shadows Asgard was PERFECT. I couldn't have wished for more. Moria sounds crazed and freaking awesome. Because of those, this has been the first time I wasn't disappointed in the pivotal points in a few episodes. Excellent job, really. Gigante Bazooka and Shadows Asgard was great. Moria's shaking at the end with his laugh was great.
-
Everything about that was done very well. My faith in Toei is restoring little by little.
Jesus, nightmare Moria is freaky. That's like something out of a horror movie right there. Next episode should be just as epic.
-
My second opinion on the opening:
Song wise, it is just above Crazy Rainbow, which is my least favorite.
Animation wise, just below KNC and BNW, my absolute favorites.Overall, I put it above the original We Are! solely on terms of animation, which are some of the best yet, IMO
-
I love this fandom.
Guy 1: I hated that
Guy 2: Me too!
Guy 3: Yep yep, totally sucky
Everyone: Yep it sucksGuy 4: I didn't think it was that bad…
Guy 1: You suck, what's wrong with you? It was bad.
Guy 3: Yeah bad! How dare your opinion differ!Guy 5: I liked it
Guy 6: Yeah it wasn't badGuy 2: Well wait now that I see it AGAIN, it's not so bad
Guy 3: Yeah it's okay... not as bad as I thought...And does anyone else feel like they're giving too much away in previews lately? course I've only seen that last two but...
-
I just found awkward how they left out Shadow's Asgard and placed Odz instead when Luffy went Gear2.
And does anyone else feel like they're giving too much away in previews lately? course I've only seen that last two but…
Uh? But don't most japanese kids who like One Piece also read the manga? I don't see how they are spoiling anything at all.
It's more like they are just teasing the viewers with incomplete scenes, like how we only got to see Luffy preparing for Giant Bazooka in the last one. They pulled the same thing on some episodes of Ennies Lobby. That's pretty much the point of previews anyway, quexinos.
-
What would everyone's opinion of the song be if it wasn't coupled with the animation nor the opening; if it was just a stand alone cover song?
If it wasn't paired with that very cool intro? I'd suggest we invent a time machine and prevent the members of AKIRA's parents from having unprotected sex.

Hehe, drastic measures.
At least you didn't mention the word "coat hanger".
-
Wow, what a dissapointing opening. Jungle P was a lot better… And Brand New World... And Kokoro no Chizu... And Bon Voyage... And Hikari E... And Believe... And the original We Are...
Congratulations, AKIRA. You managed to make a remix of one of my favourite openings that's just barely better than Crazy Rainbow...
-
Question:So who's actually the artist of this opening?Tohoshinki(the Korean boyband group who did ending 17 "Asu Wa Kuru Kara") or AKIRA?
And is it true that the guy who's the animator of movie 9 will animate next week's episode?
-

I THINK Akira is just the composer's name and not the guy singing it. He's an usual collaborator of Tohoshinki from what i've seen.
Next week looks like Naoki Tate's style indeed, but we'll know for sure when the new schedule shows up this week..
-
I did a quick search on the Japanese Wiki and apparantly EXILE has a member named AKIRA as well…that probably explains the infamous "EXILE-sounding crap" he's complainign about. (rather just stick with the Exile that did "Kiss You All Over" myself...but that's not the topic at hand)
I've noticed a bit closer from some of the screenshots that the pics they have of the characters are mostly of where they fit in the story as opposed to anything regarding where they were later on or if they had later relevance. Probably the two most glaring ones are Coby and Jango (mostly cause they reappeared later in different ways)...but somehow I still want to see that whole huge image of the "allies" alongside the short clips with the "villains".
-
@Tokoro:

That Akira wasn't even a vocalist in EXILE though.
Still, it could be the same guy, assuming he's only doing the new arrangements. -
The new OP is horrible. I disliked We Are in the first place and now they made it even worse…
-
Guys I can't understand why most of you talk about the opening and not about the episode!Ffs this thread is for talking about the episode generally. If you want to talk about the opening so much go to "the new O.P. opening" thread!
Well the episode was great.Imo it was the best episode of the arc so far!Great animation great bg music and at last great Moria. This is what wanted from the voice actor, a little madness, insanity,Moria is a Shichibukai god dammit!
-
wow the new op was really gay, that piece of shit could give cancer.
-

You really hated the song that much huh? Why exactly? Is it just the style or is it the vocals? Or is it that the music is too calm compared to the original song?
