I like what Oda did this chapter. The comedic relief that was used to dissipate the tension and the buildup from the previous chapters was a good idea.

When Sentoumaru said that bit about flying through the air I didn't know if it was meant to be taken literally or not. If so, I wondered how the hell they would pass the time flying through the air at night. To see Oda put that same image in my head to paper was gut-bustingly funny. Not to mention Luffy methodically pondering what would happen to him if he fell.
When Oda pulls the red carpet from under their feet, they felt betrayed
Apparently I missed some fierce reactions but I feel that unless Oda is pulling the carpet out from under my feet, he isn't doing his job.
90% of the time I post about what I 'think' will happen. Maybe 10% of the time I'll post about what I 'hope' will happen. Recent example, Zoro being separated from the crew for an extended length of time. Given the circumstances, I really hoped that would be the case. But Oda took those 'circumstances' and flipped 'em on their head.
I love the direction he took the story.
Now since everyone appears to be somewhere different (I say this because otherwise everyone having a Vivre Card slip seems somewhat pointless) I think this is kind of a last hurrah for some of Oda's more wacky ideas. Could it be that from this point forward he has a very controlled and meticulously planned out story web? Obviously it still stands that he may just have simple ideas in line but this would seem like an excellent opportunity to let his imagination run wild allowing him to express some of the funky things he conjured up since beginning the series. Before things get on a track he can't derail so here he has one last chance to just let loose.
