I love how you talk about the grown up world on a chapter discussion for a children's manga.
Wait, you mean the one time I brought it up on a topic unrelated to the discussion?
I know these ones are.
What choice have I made? I'm offering advice. And if you don't like it, you don't have to listen. After all:
This is a public forum. All one needs is an email address to join up. This is not a serious discussion group.
You need to take your overgrown sense of importance and intelligence and keep it to yourself.
What importance? What intelligence? I didn't come up with the name. I'm not begging that everyone call the character in question by a certain name. I'm not relishing in my own clever self for concocting a name which I didn't even discover.
Leaf-Cable is a perfect example of all I want to accomplish.
Just someone who at least understands the concept. Why do I care so much at a 'public forum'? This always comes around to this point and I'll gladly go into it again. You will dismiss it. You will dismiss me as being some 'argumentative jerk'. But in the end:
This is a public forum. All one needs is an email address to join up. This is not a serious discussion group.
So just as much as you may not like me stating my opinion for whatever evil ulterior motives you think I have in mind, I can damn well state the way I feel without hearing you belittle me or my beliefs thepuregamer.
Now then, the reason I hold such strong opinions is because I see people making the same kind of mistakes I used to make when I was younger and a Japanese animation fanatic. A testament to how stubborn and resistant to growth I was is my old website The Ultimate DBZ Information Site which in name alone is a testament to ignorance.
Although it contains useful bits and pieces, it is mainly a mish-mash of hastily assembled wangsty outbursts directed at the the Dragonball dub, a project which I wasted literally years of my life on bitching, moaning and complaining about something that didn't matter (not much has changed in certain aspects). Looking at the website is basically like looking at the map of a juvenile brain and seeing how it operates in battle. What points it tries to grasp. How it hides certain known truths to make a point. Blatantly ignores facts that conflict with one's stubborn beliefs. Run-on hate-filled diatribes based on nothing but personal opinions. And much much more.
Reading my old posts is like looking at a bit of your life that you can't imagine you actually lived.
Along the way to maturity (something many would argue I've never reached, including myself) there were many people that tried to help me realize what a stupid piece of rebellious shit I was being. I was using an incredible amount of my own time launching imaginary assaults against dubbing companies, gathering thousands of signatures in an unprofessional way, and basically making an ass out of myself and everytime someone tried to help me see something in a different light, I just knocked them, their work or slung mud at their opinions with bogus facts and baseless opinions.
I should have listened.
If I didn't I could have saved myself a lot of time, become a lot more professional and mature earlier in life and generally had a more positive, clear-thinking and, most importantly, open perspective on a helluva lot more in life than Japanese animation.
My close-minded behaviour only resulted in rude awakenings in my late teens and early 20's that, while in retrospective I am thankful for, would have been a lot easier had a merely taken the advice of some people, not necessarily older or wiser, just people, much earlier in life.
"Crazy talk! You're talking about spelling a character's name!"
Yes I am. And sometimes I exaggerate and inflate the issue to absurd boundaries. But it's simple ideas like, for example, asking someone to read a post that could change their perspective, or here, showing someone how their owns actions are in essence the same as the one's of those they criticize elsewhere.
"It doesn't matter, this is a public forum. Opinions, different people, etc."
Yes it is. In the same sense that we can expect sandbox behaviour it doesn't mean we can't try to help people grow up or see something differently. This being a forum doesn't give anyone exclusive right to act like a maniac and while I wouldn't infer how you name a goddamn comic book character could be classified as being anything like that, it can be a positive experience for those willing to learn not just about a comic book, but also in the way they carry themselves.
For instance, in refusing to read my post with all the talk of 'I like', 'I think', etc. Lobo has failed to see that he is doing exactly what point I'm trying to show him.
"So? Do we all have to follow what you say like some dictator?"
No, but wouldn't it be nice if Lobo read the part in question and thought that, "Hmm, I see what Greg means. I am actually contradicting any criticism I make of a dub when I change it myself. But you know what, I can live with that.", as opposed to talking about a 100-year old man's crotch.
"So why do you need to be the one to do this huh?"
Do I alone need to? No. I'm not some fucking saviour. But it would be nice to offer advice to him and others as many did for me years ago, which I unfortunately ignored.
Your next move would be to reply and line-by-line dissect my post pointing out the inconsistancies and attacking my 'argumentative' attitude stemming from some 'god-complex'.
No, I just really would like to help people grow up a little after all
This is a public forum.
And it would be a lot better place if we all helped each other.
Dissect away.
