Chapter 474 "Gotta Do It" Discussion
-
-
So will someone be kind enough to jaw that double-page spread in the jap raw?
-
hmm now that luffy is all alone, will kuma go to him and talk to him? would be the perfect opportunity for luffy to hear about ace's fate and what's going on in the pirate world.
M: Now that there's something to fill the empty pit.. the balance of the world would be restored right
K: No. In fact, I think it's the opposite. But forget it, what's important to the WG now is…hmm by that kuma seems to imply that right now the world is in chaos. looks like my prediction of whitebeard leaving the new world and going after ace and destroying the world government may be right. hopefully the other emperors get into a war with each other as well.
-
i totally love this chapter. things will really get crazy over the next couple chapters. just in time for halloween… coincidence? yes...
-
Moria continues to kick ass, and that spread of him and Kuma is ridiculously awesome. Excellent chapter. Next chapter seems like it will be mostly fighting…
-
this chapter cements the status of brook joining

when does the scanlation come out?

@Achitectpirate:
when does the scanlation come out?
It'll come out when it comes out. Don't be so hasty.

bull
that was cemented as soon as Brooke knew Laboon
-
bull
that was cemented as soon as Brooke knew Laboon
Wrong. It was cemented as soon as Luffy said he'd make him join no matter what.
-
Best chapter EVER.
BTW, do you think that Enel will come back into the plot? I don't see how not… I mean, he is returning to Earth with an ARMY.

If I remember correctly, there's no longer a means in which to return to Earth.
Unless they just decide to jump and enter orbit.
-
^I thought they built a new ship…
-
The easiest way to get Moria to eat the salt is to tell him that it's a large bag of meat. Luffy's shadow would most certainly pour it down his gullet without thinking.

Maybe he could make those Spaceys to fuse together to create a Rocket of sorts and what not. It actually doesn't even matter, even tough Eneru could have potential to aid Luffy and the others in the final fight against whoever or whatever decides to finish off the Great Era of Piratecy with a Big Ass Battle.
PS:
IF Kuma's actuallly as cruel as everyone says (Remember, WG made people believe that Robin was a monster) then I see him doing something nasty like popping out before Moria is defeated and send a SH (Sanji comes to mind) to their "precious place" to die such an ironic death..
I don't hate Sanji, but Kuma's powers are pretty much OHKO when combined with Moria's shadow stealing ability, so minus Luffy's possible wish to go to Meat Island or Raftel, Sanji's the most vulnerable at the moment, plus I doubt Zoro would waste his time answering the questions of some Giant Dude who pops out from nowhere….

Did they? I honestly don't remember, though I checked the latest two chapters and don't see a ship in the background.

that's possible
I mean the spacey's got there will balloons…
Seriously, though, I'm excited at all the returning characters: Alvida's gonna show, as is Buggy (who I am SO excited to see again, he's gotta be better than what he was...). Coby and Helmeppo did some serious workouts so who's next? Probably not Wapol, but Hachi COULD be at Fishman Island. He's not though, as he is a MERMAN.

Hachi, like the rest of Arlong's crew, was a Fishmen.

Hachi, like the rest of Arlong's crew, was a Fishmen.
Sorry. I reversed it. They are going to Merman Island, which would make no sense for a Fishman to be there. There we go. All sense is restored.

I thought they were going to Fishman Island? Doesn't seem to matter anyways, as both Mermen and Fishmen apparently live there.

No, they are going to Fishman island. And acording to Koroko there lives merfolk there as well.

Did anyone else notice that Kuma's powers seem to hinge on whether his "target" responding on "where he would like to go" ?
And what happened to Ace??? Is he dead?! If he isn't, then he has probably been detained by the WG and is awaiting execution already.
Brook!
-
Did anyone else notice that Kuma's powers seem to hinge on whether his "target" responding on "where he would like to go" ?
Yes, the grand majority of us did.
And what happened to Ace??? Is he dead?! If he isn't, then he has probably been detained by the WG and is awaiting execution already.
His fight was in flashback format, so he's probably dead.
-
I knwo it's been said many times already, but I am just loving Moria! Who would have thought it? Especially when you think back to how a lot was saying that he's a fuck-ugly dildo man with a sleep problem. How'd this idiot get into the Shichibukai?
Well, where are all the Moria haters now? He was just awsome in this chapter.
Plus I like the fact that Odz has fulfilled his dream of seeing a docking (of sorts) -

What's so bad about his design? It's fairly unique, though I can admit that we need less characters that are gigantic.
-

now that that's settled, shall we go back to discussing this chapter?
I suspect that Moira will refuse to have Kuma help and will lose, then Kuma will teleport away to report this. And that way there will be no Shichibukai tag-team fights. That just doesn't seem right.
And here's why: Luffy's bounty JUST went up by 200 Million. If his crew takes on Moria the goverment could gloss over it. It's not like its a public event. But if he takes out 2 of 'em, that's gotta get some explanation.
And personally, I don't think its fair that there are 7 (or 8) Shichibukai and the Mugiwaras get to deal with all of 'em.
Because clearly Moria is boned. Crocodile's been dealt with. Blackbeard HAS to be beat by Luffy (for Ace, and the fact that he's the final boss), Zorro's got Mihawk…
Seriously, with all the major players being introduced, I'll be damned if the Straw Hats take on EVERY one...
-
I suspect that Moira will refuse to have Kuma help and will lose,
It's a little late for that. Moria has already bluntly refused help. Or rather, just plain refused.
then Kuma will teleport away to report this.
Yes, that's pretty obvious by now.
And that way there will be no Shichibukai tag-team fights. That just doesn't seem right.
Of course not.

Why would it matter how many he'd take out? Something else would have to happen, like the destruction of Ennis Lobby to warrant it.
And personally, I don't think its fair that there are 7 (or 8) Shichibukai and the Mugiwaras get to deal with all of 'em.
Of course not. This isn't Naruto, we're not gonna be having the Seas picked off one by one.

Like I said, they won't. That'd just be idiotic.

Just finished the chapter.
So, Blackbeard's a Shichibuki, now, eh? Kinda saw it coming, but definately not as quickly as it happened.
Odz's fight is getting pretty interesting now that Moria's inside him. And Zoro's new sword is still awesome! Brooke being back is cool, too!
Overall, a great chapter!
-
Man I'm so interested in seeing what happened on Banaro Island now. I'm shocked that Blackbeard was made a Shichibukai already!
Time's almost up for the Strawhats. They really have to go all out. Zoro needs to bring out Asura and Luffy needs to use his gears. I want Gum Gum Gigante Pistol in Odz's face!
-

Or preferably, Odz's enormous gut.
-
Or preferably, Odz's enormous gut.
Good call.
Speaking of what may have happened to Ace earlier, I'm sure Luffy will do something about it, but what about Shanks and Whitebeard? We know WHitebeard has a policy on killing those that kill his nakama, so if Ace is dead we may see an Emperor go crazy. Shanks warned about Blackbeard, so what will he do now?
-
For me, I think that Kuma is just going to do what Moria said, watch. He seems to be really in tune with the world order, so this is something that will effect it even more. I'm still of the opinion that just before Moria is destroyed, Kuma'll warp in and rescue him at the last second, just to give him the "fool, I told you so" bit. Moria will return the shadows since he's on his last legs and he and Kuma will warp out, with Moria swearing to get back at the strawhats. But it'll probably never happen ^_^. If it does, then can I say I called it or has someone else already done so?
Also, just to say it again, Yes! Brooke is back baby! Oh, and sorry if it's a repeat but does this mean Brooke is going to be the oldest member of the crew? If we take his first ife and add it to his second life, I don't see how anyone is going to beat him in age, or we can just take his first life, in which I'm guessing he was around 40 (If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. It's just a guess.) he'll still be the oldest member. If we take just his second life, then I don't know. What do you think? And don't call me a baka. That's just mean. -
When Moria talks, all I hear is Ryusei Nakao (Freeza, Kurosutchi). He's the perfect voice actor for Moria and needs more One Piece action besides a filler character. Moria is such a badass like that.
Great freakin' chapter. Loved the Moria and Kuma interaction. Needs to be more Shichibukai moments like these.

As awesome as Ryusei Nakao is, I don't believe that Moria should sound so menacing, because that's not his character. He's a guy who makes everybody else do the work for him, and runs away when attacked. He should sound more incompetent.
-
This chapter was great. It keeps making me come back to see what happens next. Now that Brook is here, it looks like he will use his light weight and speed to really help the Straw Hats in this fight.
Moria seems to be ready to pull out some of his hands now that he knows the Government thinks he needs help.
-
This chapter really sparked my intrest at Moria. He seems like such a badass…
Now Moria and Kuma are very close as my fav Sichibukai.
-
That panel with Kuma and Moria facing one another is quite possibly my favorite panel in all of One Piece.
Yes, it's "yin and yang" in looks as well as in personality. And that the active one has the broadest chest, while the passive one has the broadest ass … that just sums it up perfectly. I like the contrast between their eyes too -- Kuma's blank stare is unchanging, while Moria's beady little eyes can't stop shifting.
I've been harping on these three points for the last couple of weeks so its nice getting some vindication.
Three predictions in one chapter. Congrats!
Is that a record?Thinking on it, there must be a damn good reason for Kuma, who's such a horrible man, to obey the WG's every whim.
@Komrade:
Unless he's trying to repent or something. Teh Bible!
Good points both (even though I know the second one was made half-jokingly). Kuma gives off a different sort of vibe than the others did. It's closer in spirit to Mihawk than to Croc or DoFlamingo or Moria. For starters, he's a lot more perceptive than the others (his comments about Blackbeard and the balance of powers are evidence to that), also, he only seems to lash out when someone provokes him – like Perona did -- and not just randomly or teasingly.
Now, to be fair, we still don't know where people go when he "vacations" them. It could be that he sends them into a flaming pit of the Netherhells for eternity -- however, I'm inclined to take his "where would you like to go" at face value. And that the point is (as someone mentioned earlier, but I've forgotten who) just to make them get out of his way as fast as possible.
So Moria became the "brain" of Oz!…now we gonna see if he really has some fighting experience. Maybe not physically (although i hope he puts up a good fight after robOZ is defeated) but in terms of strategy and tactic.
yes, and I also like how even when Moria joins the battle actively – as he has now -- he's still letting someone else (Odz) fight his battle for him, because even though Moria is controlling Odz like a mecha now, any damage inflicted by the Mugiwara will hurt Odz, not Moria. So Odz isn't just a minion of Moria's, he's also Moria's shield.
Moria got warned by the government not to be defeated by luffy
this is so cool
"The government thinks u will be defeated, moria"
Yeah, talk about hitting him where it hurts! And judging from his reaction, it did hurt! Hey, maybe that's the only way to take Moria down – not by actions, but by words...
The easiest way to get Moria to eat the salt is to tell him that it's a large bag of meat. Luffy's shadow would most certainly pour it down his gullet without thinking.
That sounds as good of a plan as any, but since they've already pulled the "look over there! A huge pile of meat!!" trick on him once before, I don't know if it could be successfully bluffed twice. Then again, this is Luffy's shadow we're talking about …
:ninja:And one last quick note:
That spiral arc cut into the building -- so precise that it didn't even blow the center piece through -- SWEET! And that's before Zoro's even figured out how to control the "temper" of the new sword. I like the art of the bottom frame of the page before that too. It's about the right size and shape for a sig too. Hmmmmm ... -
What's so bad about his design? It's fairly unique, though I can admit that we need less characters that are gigantic.
i was just kind of thinking that after reading this chapter. all the villians lately are huge. Lucci was pretty big in his half-animal form. and it seems like most people think jinbei will be huge.
-

Haven't you heard? Bigger is better.
Or how about this one: The bigger they are the harder they fall.
Or is it the cooler the sound they make when they fall? -
As ridiculous as it sounds, I hope that after this Kuma will teleport to meet with Shanks. Yeah, he may be a Schichibukai, but I think both Kuma and Shanks know pretty well what Blackbeard is planning at the moment, and Kuma's just a random bastard….
-

He certainly knows what's going on more than a lot of folks, but he's also a lapdog who probably would never associate with an Emperor now.
-
So, I was right about that differently-colored patch of skin around Spooky Tooth's belly.
If Shuusui has a temper, and Sandai Kitetsu is bloodthirsty, then how is Zoro going to avoid being conquered by his own swords?
I get this feeling
that my luck is none too good.
This sword here at my side don't act the way it should.
Keeps calling me its master, but I feel like its slave;
It's hauling me, faster and faster, to an early, early grave.
And it howls-it howls like Hell. -
That's if Luffy finds out about Ace now. Also, how the hell is BB the 'final boss'?
I'm confused. I'm declaring my belief that the final person Luffy will have to fight is Blackbeard and he will be fueled by Ace's death.
Not sure if Luffy has to find out about it now, but remember the fact that in the flashback it said the fight has serious ramifications. And serious ramifications is not simply Blackbeard becoming more powerful, but something along the lines of Luffy becoming pirate king or Dragon kicking some ass at the death of (possibly) his kid.
So… okay. I get what you were saying now.
-
Been a while, a long while, since my last post here, and after this chapter… Djeez, don't know where to begin...
Alright, let's start with Blackbeard. I'm with the ones prompting he might be the "final boss". Well, maybe not the real final, but damn close to it - unless Oda plans to job him for someone big time, but else there's no point in making him out so awesomely terifying. He's most likely defeated the ever so terific Ace, because else he would have been returned to Whitebeard. He's got that devil fruit that is unique and powerful, even among logia. And evidentially he got quite a rep in short notice as he skipped the incredible bounty part and went straight for Shichibukai. Of course, all of these are related - duh - but Oda has made quite the man of this fellow. And his personality and Luffy's are very alike (has few nakama, finds dreams very important, is a bit glutonous, likes to fight and I doubt he's any more scared of death than Luffy is). Of course there are differences, but then again, he is a villain.
Now, Enel, will we see him again? It seems possible, after all, what use is his army if he's gonna be trapped in outer space for the remainder of his days anyway? But I doubt it'll come anytime soon, if at all.
Now, on to the discussion of this arc, and what will happen in there...
It's a tough nut to crack since most scenario's I think of are rather... Well, they all have their drawbacks. My guess is Luffy will run into Barty, and will only just dodge his hand when Nami yells out to him, after which they - shock - fight.
In the mean while, the crew takes down Odz fairly easily now they got the salt, and battle Moria in yet another grand many versus one fight (which I wouldn't really like), or Moria can't escape and is subdued seconds after Odz, maye because he's trapped inside Odz's body (but then we wouldn't really see Moria fight).
After Luffy suddenly regains his shadow - which is probably after Moria is defeated, since his shadow would probably return to Moria first - Bear realizes there's trouble there, and warps to his colleague. They both escape Thriller Bark and the fight between Luffy in the big guy remains unsettled, leaving an infuriated Luffy.
I'm predicting an unsettled fight because, well, like some others have said, two defeated Shichibukai at once seems a bit much. But it may not be. Bear and Moria might both get their ass served before Bear makes a run for it, with Moria as deadweight. I'm sure the World Government can cover up something that happened on a vessel somewhere in the middle of nowhere, cut off from the rest of the world.
-
Or, holy balls, how is this for an idea:
Kuma beats up the straw hats.
It's been a while since they lost (Luffy's two fights with Crocodile)
teleports them all around and they gotta meet up somewhere
could be fun
