@Monkey:
I have to say I'm sorely disappointed with Nami. For the past few weeks it's like she's forgotten everything she'd learnt at Alabasta, Skypiea and Enies Lobby. sigh In EL Nami actually walked up to Califa and picked up a cat-fight with her, but after like 9 chapters of running away, we've only seen her use her clima-tact once. Is it too much to ask of Oda that characters actually use the skills he gives them? Because this chapter would have been infinitely better if she'd whipped out the clima-tact and done anything other than letting herself get caught. I mean, if she's trying to get away so hard why not conjure fog? Why not use fricking Mirage Tempo?
You complain about this when Usopp has been pretty much screwed over in this department for the entire series? What he did against Luffy was way more powerful and damaging than using the same lightning move over and over, he has a brand new weapon he hasn't even shown off besides just a single attack not even in a real fight, and he spent that entire last arc telling himself he wanted to be stronger after tons and tons of build up and drama and nothing ever came of it.
Hes far more deserving by now of getting some credit/getting a fight than Nami is in my opinion. I've had enough "Nami tricks her opponent into falling for the same old moves even though their stronger in every way" fights to last me a lifetime, and theres only been two. Usopp was OHKOing people before Nami even officially joned the crew, and now Oda apparently considers him to be little more than a tacked on side character he just lumps in with Nami and Chopper (none of which deserve this treatment, really) as being worthless. Nami should be able to fight as well, but I think she needs a different approach.
I love the series to death but someone needs to seriously tell Oda that this crap is getting old. I want to either see Luffy kick everyone off the crew whos not named Sanji and Zoro or see the other characters actually develop and become worth something in their own ways. "Those three are the fighers, everyone else is there as filler" is not how I want to see it end. The worst part is Oda has proven that hes capable of so much more, which makes it all the more frustrating.
