BOTW 2 has been pushed to a spring 2023 release window.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Hopefully with better hardware until then. Fuuuuck
Ocarina and Majora were released so close together. I guess I was spoiled… -
I mean, judging from the last two Zelda releases, I would assume the delay is to match the release to new hardware.
-
I find really hard for they to release a new hardware next year considering the closest we got to a "Pro Switch" was the OLED version and that was not too long ago.
-
Also, supply chain interruptions for the plague and the war, new hardware seems like an awful idea.
-
Average player: these new abilities open so many possibilities!
Me: I can already tell I will not be able to figure any of the puzzles by myself
-
@access-timeco Oh, good, I was worried I was the only one thinking that. XD
-
Oh I'm sure it'll tutorialize you enough beofre sending you into the wild that the abilities will feel natural and make sense.
I'm not a big fan of the combinng gimmick but whatever.
-
Unless they suddenly reveal their elaborate full dungeons, deep narrative, compelling characters and strong soundtrack (lol), I will be skipping LoZ: Nuts and Bolts, now featuring battery management.
-
I eagerly await TotK's entry in https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/BrokenBase/VideoGames
...
(I booked the day off to play day 1)

Hm, random third trailer popping in tomorrow, here's the link to the JP version... will update to English version when I see it.
-
English version since Cinder may or may not have forgot :p
I believe it's only about 3 minutes long (which is actually a bit lengthy for one game trailer imo) hoping to see a little more context to the fuse mechanics as we only saw it used with environmental weapons (except the pitch fork) I'd like to see it with the actual weapons.
-
Man the music in that trailer was fantastic
-
Jesus Christ that looks awesome

Yeah just like the music in the original BotW trailer... which wasn't in the game.
-
I'm a huge fan of BotW and everything in these last couple of trailers have got me so goddamn hyped for this game.

This post is deleted!

On the topic of Matt Mercer voicing Ganondorf, for some reason I thought he already confirmed that but I might've been confused by people plain recognizing his voice from a much earlier trailer. That's great!
-
I successfully managed to avoid the Switch (and Breath of the Wild with it), but I don't think I can resist this one. Buying a console for one game seems really bad, but that Ganondorf...
-
A few announced Hori accessories for those interested.
I just have the earlier carrying case ordered and I like design on it over these ones. The protective screen that it comes with will help too since I'm getting the oled.
-
I really hope if they do a Zelda animated movie they use this version of Ganondorf design

Reviews are looking good

After coming to terms with how the games are now and warming up to BOTW from multiple play throughs, I have been very excited for the release of this game. I've put in around a good 6 to 7 hours at this point, and have been mainly exploring the initial area you start in after finishing this games version of the Great Plateau. Overall, really enjoying what I'm experiencing. There's enough changes that despite being in familiar areas, it feels quite foreign to me. With the changes in abilities and how certain tasks are required to be performed, I find the puzzles to be more engaging.
That said, with the new mechanics, there's a mix of fun to aggravation. The biggest problem is the machines you can build, and how it's a toss up if it will work the way you want it to. I just finished a puzzle that took me 10 to 15 minutes to get done because I tried the correct solution the first time, but getting everything to line up wasn't working so I thought I was wrong. Que me trying other stuff until trying the correct solution again, so have everything line up just right. Perhaps with time I will get a handle on it, but these seem to be the easier puzzles, so I worry how some of the later ones will go.
Despite that, there are moment to moment encounters that are fun and pop up more often in this game, at least so far. There was small fortress encounter with a twist that I died to many times but felt great after overcoming it. There was also a enemy camp that had some tough monsters in it, but since I found a secret way into the back I was able to sneak attack and kill the problem ones before they could do anything.
-
Having a great time with this one so far. I was skeptical about the new powers from the reveal trailer, but I'm already using Ascend and (to a lesser extent) Recall about a million times more than BotW's Stasis and Cryonis. And the fusion mechanics have made the durability system feel a lot less unforgiving. Rarely have I lost anything without the ability to duct tape a few things from the immediate area into a comparable or better substitute. Really trying to take my time and savour the exploration here.

20 over hours in and this is essentially a masterpiece. This is as close to 10/10 as you can get, what an amazing game. Also since we are in a One Piece forum, this is as close to a Skypiea experience as you can get.
Not exactly spoiler since this is 5 minutes into the game.
Anyone thinks that the Zonia and their technology + being in the sky is similar to the lost kingdom in One Piece?
We get clues that the lost kingdom in OP has advanced technology + is lost to history and Skypieans seem to have something to do with that. There are also aliens and alien cave drawings dating back to a lost time that Enel discovered which is rather similar to the cave drawings in the game.
-
@The-Franky-Tank for what it is worth the physics is insanely well done. Which is to say it is way too accurate than it has to be and that leads to a lot of ah fuck moments (along with spending 20 minutes doing something that with the conventional solution you only need 5 but I always think of myself as a potential rocket scientist). Its a good thing and you'll eventually find stuff that proves that a lot of things are more doable than you would think. So it works, just that it needs time to master. There's one or two shrines that needed some foundational knowledge in theoretical physics...so uh, there's that.
On the plus side, there's like 10 different ways to do each shrine so it really is up to how much you are willing to spend to experiment.

Finished the tutorial area and I'm feeling mixed.
-
Did my first major dungeon today.

It is funny because I was a bit disappointed by that dungeon
-
I've never had as much fun with any other game as I have with Tears of The Kingdom
-
After 10 days, the switch finally told me I had over 80 hours clocked. Still going!!
-
I'm enjoying it a lot. I'm still not a huge fan of the durability system, but this game is so meaty and full of things to do and things to do that I can get over it. I will say this is also one of the games that is helping me truly understand what I prefer in a game. I can enjoy a sandbox, but I prefer the ability to follow a stronger narrative at my leisure, like in God of War and God of War Ragnarok. There is a narrative here, of course, but it's scattered and never presents itself as strongly as other games that I prefer. I still think this is a very highly rated game in regards to how well it's doing what it wants to do. I don't quite think it's a 10/10, but I think very few games released in their time have been. Still, I haven't finished it (not close really) and I may change my mind later on. I plan to review this and make a video, so look out for it if you're interested!
-
@Kdom Oh yeah, length and difficulty were very much at a starter dungeon level. Glad I followed the clues to do it first. But the whole entry sequence and the design of the place seem tailor made to press my personal buttons. If nothing else, it screamed that the game was fixing BotW's issue with the Divine Beasts being indistinct from both each other and the shrines on the inside.
I've done two more since then, the Fire temple -
And the Water Temple -
I'm keeping my fingers crossed the Gerudo area is able to stick the landing.
-
Everyday after work, I come home and play TotK into the night. I've been at it for 2 weeks, I can't stop. This game is so much fun.
Regarding the dungeons:
-
I hated that I cheesed the fire dungeon because I had a long day of work.
Favourite so far is still the wind because getting there was great and the temple does feel very self contained. But easily the weaker boss yet felt the most aesthetically pleasing/cinematic a fight.
The most interesting one is the one in the depths but it is also frustrating even if it is pretty creative.
-
@Kdom all the paths to the dungeon itself is part of it though. There's always a puzzle and a route you have to navigate to get there. But I get it, the temples can feel short sometimes. Getting there can actually feel like 50% of the quest itself, see Water temple.
-
With time I learned to keep the companions away unless I need a specific ability. Otherwise I only summon them to fight because it’s very easy to trigger them by accident when you are trying to interact with something.
Regarding the fire temple boss
No idea about the rest because the water temple is the one I left for last, so avoiding spoilers.
-
I think my favorite part of the game so far is the newspaper side quest. Just visiting the various stables, gathering info on news items that usually end up being silly little misunderstandings, it's all very charming.
And Penn is a fun, Launchpadesque design. -
Almost done with unlocking the towers of the underworld.
I have the water and fire sage unlocked. Wanna go for the Gerudo sage next, Rito is up last. What I really dislike about the underground is the darkness, it's a great feature, but for finding and unlocking some towers, it's really bothersome, on the other hand, I love it, but it makes the miner gear pointless, after unlocking all towers. Instead of brightening everything up, maybe it's better to give us the map and brighten up the area but still keep it darker.
Got 88 shrines done.
Battery talk, maybe spoiler worthy? -
-
My second sage ring is the middle finger one. I completely obtained it by random luck
If someone has done it too, I'm curious to know what was the true solution for -
I really wish there is a workaround to the companions. It's interesting...to say the least. There are certain mobs/bosses that are made easier if you use their abilities (especially when you are low on items) but it becomes so frustrating because instead of being able to use it immediately you have a) locate them because they often wander off b) because you can't do it immediately, whatever you were fighting is nowhere near where you intended to use it c) the water sage's one goes off after a few seconds which is horrendous to manage.
-
@Kdom I don't have the solution but I cheesed that. That's actually the only one I never figured out but now I'll look it up because it slipped my mind. But if I have to make a guess... a conveyor belt?
-
Yeah I used capsules to bypass it. The only other one which I struggled a bit for was the rotating cable but a good night sleep brought the solution :-)
-
I've seen tons of videos where people make these Rube Goldberg-esque battle machines for enemies, and I'm thinking a) "man i suck at crafting" but also b) how much time and patience does it take to lug all this stuff around
-
@MetaMario It's hard to answer this question without knowing how far you've gotten in the game so as not to spoil anything.
