@Vongola_Boss_XI:
You people shift the goalposts constantly to suit your needs.
What? It's the truth.
Carrot is still a Mokomo Dukedom retainer, part of the Musketeer Squad and a royal aide alongside Wanda. Just look at the image I posted above, where Carrot still dutifully serves Inuarashi like the retainer she is. Right now, she was fighting alongside her fellow musketeer Wanda, out of a desire to avenge a member of her tribe. But for some reason, people here treat this as setting up ther Straw Hat-ness. At no point has the narrative hinted that Carrot doesn't like her current job or wants to abandon it. She left Zou ot of fun and curiosity, but once at Wano, she resumed her previous role with no hassle.
But for some reason, it's Yamato who has to think about retainer job, even though no character in-universe has ever mentioned the possibility. Only Kaido has come close, telling Yamato to abandon his dream to become Wano's guardian, all because he couldn't fight off his hunger.
This just doesn't jive with how Oda writes his characters. Remember Dressrosa? Rebecca was imposed with a princess duty when everything was over, but that was not what she wanted. She wanted to stay with her peasant father, which was the desire she stated all the way at the beginning of the arc. In the end, Oda will respect the wishes of a character and will never make them do something contradictory to their will. If the character has to perform a duty, it's because they want to.
I also think it's incredibly unfair that Yamato, who was stuck in a single place for 20 years being tortured repeatedly, is the one at risk of putting her dream aside for retainer duty. Meanwhile, Carrot, who had a relatively normal life by her tribe's standard, is the one who can just walk out with no trouble, as if she never had a retainer duty to begin with. It doesn't really fit with Oda's usual brand of karmic writing, which tends to reward those who get unfair suffering (again, look at Rebecca). That's just how Oda has always done things.
There's no shifting here besides the Mod. I'm calling what it is, double standards. The "potential" retainer issue Yamato supposedly has does not apply to Carrot for some reason, even though the latter herself is already a retainer.

I will drop out of the conversation, because, as has been said, there's not much to talk when Carrot has been mostly missing.
Feel free to reply to my post though. I will likely read it anyway.
