And that one being Yamato? I don't think so. Like most everyone else from Wano, he/she is intrinsically linked to its fate. When the battle is done, everyone on Wano will want to support Momo and Hiyori as they take the reigns of leadership. I can easily see Yamato becoming the new deity supporting the shogun like Kaido does for Orochi, only this time beneficial for Wano rather than exploitative. That doesn't warrant going out to sea, at least not until everyone in Wano moves out for whatever final battle there is in the future.

Basically, Yamato and everyone else from Wano is tied down, whereas Carrot is free to do what she wishes.

Jinbe joined during WCI arc. I liked someone else's idea that I heard. Jinbe has his party and Carrot joins at the end of Wano arc. After they leave Wano, Yamato is found as a stowaway just like Oden.

Yamato is actually a very much free person.

She's not a scabbard, not even a native Wano-kunian and is actually weird that after reading a journal, she inherited the last wish of Oden instead of developing the desire to go out and reach the final island, which is I would have inherited if I read that adventurous tale.

Anyways, Yamato believes the Scabbards are all dead, and much likely haven't realized Momo and Hiyori are around either, once she notices that all those people still exists, it can lead us to two options;
1-She'll go full Bartolomeo on all of them, calling then all Senpai and risking her life for each and every single one of them, staying in Wano to Lick Momo's sandals every day.
Or
2-She'll realize that she doesn't have to be the political figure to open Wano's borders since Momo and the Scabbies can do that, and that she can now do Oden's journal herself.

Still in the process of formulating my thoughts re: Yamato and his/her chances of Nakama-hood, but I think it's too early to assume s/he's tied down to Wano past the end of the arc. Yamato's assumed the goal of opening Wano's borders as someone who inherited Oden's will when it seemed to have been lost, but s/he doesn't know about Momonosuke, Hiyori, and the Akazaya Nine yet. Depending on how s/he reacts to that revelation, there may be little need for Yamato to personally drive the opening of Wano's borders.

There's also the question of how "repressed" Yamato's upbringing has been. We know that Kaidou's been based out of Wano/Onigashima for 25+ years at this point, so while s/he's the child of a Yonkou, it's entirely possible that Yamato's never actually been outside of Wano itself. If so, and if s/he determines that Wano is in capable hands that will see the deed done, then Yamato could very easily choose to indulge in his/her hero's other great passion: travelling the world and perhaps seeking out answers to the mysteries that Oden alludes to in his journal. And that angle could easily lead to Yamato joining the Strawhats on the trip to Laugh Tale.

That said, we've known the character for basically two pages… There's a LOT we don't know that could easily upend any conclusions we try to draw at present.

Coincidence, but I understand. My post was directed at Monquito saying that Yamato could possibly be like Barto. I didn't read your message, but I understand the mix up. I was poking fun at Yamato possibly disagreeing with the Scabbard due to both admiring Oden so much.

Everyone in the alliance against Big Mom survived, minus Pedro supposedly. Oda could be just hyping Pedro's death escaping skills when/if he makes his return.

I like Pedro but Pedro isn't currently in the Whitebeard/Ace relevancy in current storyline deaths even if his sacrifice saved the crew. Which strengthens why I don't think Pedro is perma-dead. The Will of P has yet to fail!

True. But it's a Dawn that is 20+ years in the making yet Carrot is not actively trying to understand, on panel at least. Maybe she talked to Inu off panel, bringing up the conversation later but I doubt that. I would think she would have brought it up by now just to remind us readers of "her dream" of truly understanding what the Dawn is.

I'm not saying that because of Carrot. My conviction of Pedro's death is at least three times bigger than my belief of Carrot's recruitment. They're mostly separate things and that's why I never mentioned Carrot at all.

And yet none of your examples refute my argument since not a single one of those characters had their deaths hammered by many different chapters reminding us of its fatality.

Btw, on the contrary, most of your examples were completely open to different outcomes even while they were happening, like (a) Mon't Dor pulling some shenanigans to save Moscato, (b) Pekoms was was not framed as dead but only his eyes were supposedly ripped out to stop Sulong, even Pound was cut by Oven but not necessarily assassinated and then his supposed death was never mentioned again, not even mourned.

I was always open to these characters being alive, not because I wanted to, but because it's typical of Oda to do fake deaths. The same with Pedro soon after it happened. However, it started to feel different with Pedro when Oda couldn't stop repeating that he was dead and making a big deal out if it.

You're totally entitled to believe that Pedro is alive. It's not impossible. But I think it would be wise to recognize that this is not a normal case like many others.

I really need Yamato to separate herself of the Oden fanboyism since that's what literally the retainers she believes are dead are doing. They all want to open Wano's borders and Oden strongly implied it should be done internally since he never explicitly stated to go out. Maybe that's one way to look at it, but its just an interpretation that has no basis outside my opinion for now. Oden followed Roger because he was the only one who could transcribe and translate the Poneglyphs for Roger, which was why Roger wanted him to begin with and pleaded to Whitebeard to let him have Oden. Which is why he did this:

Considering the Straw Hat Crew already has Robin who basically does that, Yamato coming along is nothing more than "Oden went with Roger, so I should go with Luffy" which misses the whole reason why Oden was critical to Roger's journey. Gotta see more from Yamato. Strong start won't lie, but no original goal as far as we know.

Maybe it's more about how Oden wants Wano to be better and opening the borders based on his travels than the specifics on Laugh Tale or any spoilers. This is a factor in whether Yamato is being built up to be part of the crew, Scabbard or something separate.

That's true.

Although maybe I'd still regard Pell as the original sin because of how much more iconic it was. The others coming back were just a lot easier to buy for their own circunstances, even if it was still kinda wrong.

Thanks for the dates, but if I'm not mistaken the rumour is about an interview in which the "excuse" was made. I don't believe it, but it's almost impossible to verify this kind of stuff considering how long ago it happened. It'll always be something ringing in my head whenever someone talks about Pell.

Eh, we'll see. While I don't personally believe there's a way to open the country's borders beyond from where they are, that doesn't mean there isn't a possibility.

Yes, very unlikely.

But I'm not as doubtful about this Toriyama thing, lol. I mean, not because those last arcs were bad or anything like that. I just don't see him having long-term goals for Dragon Ball, so he was just rolling with it until he lost his patience (or his contract expired). It's not like the Buu arc brings some kind of closure in order to be the end.

Interesting rumor about the 9/11 and Pell thing. It was the first time i've heard of it. I think its possible like you guys said,that Oda probably didnt want to give up on the explosion scene but at the same time decided that Pell would have survived in the end. And the Toriyama thing is just common sense. Of course if Frieza would have been the last arc some little things would have been a little different,but it would have been a coherent finale. I'm glad it lasted another two arcs by the way.

Ah Pell, one of the few opponents Robin had in which she could be highlighted awesomely in battle, arguably one of her best action scenes. I wouldn't mind an antagonistic Pell 2.0 now just so Robin can be spotlighted again in a proper battle.

Whenever I consider a potential female nakama candidate, I always wonder if their battle relevance will fade into the background once they join the the crew like how Nami and Robin don't get many 1 vs 1 fights to be featured in (Robin should of had one in the Dressrosa Arc /sadface). Fortunately Nami and Robin are integral to the journey of One Piece so their lack of battle focus is eased through their high relevancy in the story.

Regarding Yamato, it would be amusing if Kaido is unaware that Yamato is a female. Cue shocked-Kaido face when Yamato reveals herself to her father.

It just depends on what she was like before she was inspired by Oden and her relationship with kaidou, which will probably be explored

Zoro was sought after, before his official appearance, so he's first place and this is just off watching the anime. I think the manga probably had different things like covers that hinted when it first dropped in the 90s.

Well the argument I saw at the time was that Robin and Jimbei were not obvious because they were "villain turned good guy" types (Jimbei is not a villain by any metric but he was originally a shichibukai so it kind of counts). Meanwhile Chopper, Franky and Brook were just obvious the moment they first appeared.

I would rather wish for a new character altogether to be introduced soon or possibly after Wano as the 11th Strawhat member. While that person may not have had screentime like the rest of the crew, I feel like Oda can still make a character that is just as important. As evident with the reaction to Yamato's character, people can like a new character just as much as a recurring one.

Personally, I feel like Yamato is a Carrot/Law in that he might join the ship but he won't be officially the 11th member. I just don't think Carrot is the 11th because she acts too much like Chopper or feel similar to him (talking animal). She hasn't done anything significant in Wano either so, that'd pretty odd considering she is there with them the whole time. Though personally, I think I just don't like her character enough to warrant the 11th slot.

Since a position in the ship is important to the the members in the crew, I wish for the 11th member to be a scientist. All through out the series, Vegapunk's scientific discoveries have always played a large role in the plot, and after the Reverie, this has become more evident. Science as a weapon is a thing so it's just my wish to see a Strawhat member with this ability. Though Franky and Usopp has always shown a knack for this, the crew can benefit from a proper scientist, a moral one unlike Caesar. Someone close to Vegapunk, like an apprentice would give the same feel as Usopp/Robin/Franky/Zoro member. These characters were tied to a legendary sniper/archeologist/shipwright/swordsman and someone with a specific profession or distinct dream. I would like to see a new character that still has room for growth even the series is nearing its end.

Though a recurring character such as Vivi may not be too bad. I just feel it was cool of her to have that unique status as a character, one that was invited to be a member but refused.

I like the theory on Hancock too, coz those are very interesting observations. The unresolved past is a very important one, something that has been done to female Strawhat members. While Yamato’s introduction was certainly unique , I think it could go one of two ways , either A. She’s fully content with the incoming liberation of Wano and the opening of its borders and stays behind to support Momo and the Scabbards or B. After Wano’s open to the world she decides to take her emulation of Oden even further and wants to explore the world with the straw hats especially after hearing Luffy’s dream to become PK.

Her dream to create her own logbook to surpass Oden’s , becoming the Journalist of the Strawhats.

If you think about it her Journey would unfold in reverse of Oden’s , who desired to travel the outside world more than anything until reaching Laugh Tale with Roger , then became stubbornly focused on opening Wano’s borders. Yamato will definitely wanna travel after Oden’s dying wish is complete.

That's kind of a weird assessment, considering there's 19 Carrot votes and 21 Yamato votes.

The Carrot votes haven't exactly subsided. Besides, the poll is still super early and we're at 77 votes compared to 307 of the other one, so the data doesn't really suggest anything except a surge in Yamato votes where there were none before. In the previous poll, the 'none' category alone has 99 people voting for it, far more than any current votes for anyone.

It's funny because it's like the opposite for Inuarashi and Nekomamushi. Even though they're called Dogstorm and Cat Viper in the official translation, it just sounds wrong. Language is weird like that, I guess.

"Flying Six" is a weird translation to me because it loses its meaning despite being the literal translation. It sounds random, because you can't figure out why they're called that since they can't fly, lol.

Until someone tells you that "Tobi Roppo" is part of the spectacle of a Kabuki play (it's a style of walk). Then it makes sense that Oda is following a theme of naming Kaido's forces as entertainers (Headliners, Lead Performers, Tobi Roppo). That's why the brazilian official translator calls them something like "The Six Magnanimous" (in portuguese) to fit the theme better.

I'm surprised they weren't given a looser translation to fit the entertainment theme. I guess it makes sense if they wanted to stick closer to the original translation, but had I never known this Kabuki explanation, the 'Flying Six' would still be confusing to me.

The Headliners and All Stars aren't direct translations either from what I gather?
