@wolfwood:
[hide] I was expecting something, anything, a purpose, a past, a civilization, a deity, or even something as flat as an exposition from the almighty in the wheelchair. Any sort of crumb that would've given it some sort of meaning or reason beyond the flat character of force of nature. And if that was all they ever meant with them then they've wasted my time beyond words. Throw the show writers notes on the fire and wait for the old man to give us the proper story where the others can get their proper showing[/hide]

[hide] Like their little dead bodies art projects strewn all over the seasons, what is the reasoning behind a creature with supposedly no sense of self or purpose that bothers with sending cryptic messages? Messages where we the watchers do not yet know the meaning of the symbolism for that matter. I mean they clearly posses wit and reasoning skills. In the books they even speak with each other. Might even worship a death diety if red god lady is to be believed. So much juicy material to work with and what do we get? But whatever let's not rage over it all until this show has limped to the end. Bitter pointless ranting over for now lol. [/hide]
To be fair I don't read the books. So I'm only going by the show.

I'm sure we could have learn more from the long night or their time with the children. So I could see more lore but not much more motivation. It just that I never felt from the show that they were more than forces of nature**.**
Kind of remind me Tuco's cousins from breaking bad and their relentless march only to quickly get killed by Hank. [/hide]
The White Walkers never looked better than the one Sam saw back at the end of season 2. The most recent design are meh.
