@Gizmo:
Wonder which aspects of this game are going to be applicable to gen 8.
Doubt the new catching mechanic will make it, but there’s other aspects like essentially an exp. share leveling up system being there from the beginning (all Pokemon getting experience during battle/catching without needing an item), user being able to nickname Pokémon whenever, along with the PC being part of the bag now. Then there’s a skip cutscene feature, though that hasn’t been complained about until the Sun/Moon series.
Probably because they were soooo long in Sun and Moon, the worst being the entire sequence after beating the Elite 4 and Tapu Koko. I think it was around a whole half hour where you couldn't save or stop playing because you were either in a cutscene or catching the guy. Also, Lilly took the place of main character and it felt like you had even less agency than ever before, which for me, made the cutscenes the worst because I hated her.
Plus it brought back the Pokemon following you mechanic, even allowing you to ride some Pokémon if they’re big enough.
This is the big what it. Pokemon has always been big on introducing cool features that people love and then getting rid of them in the next set of games. How great would the series be if they, uh, didn't do that, right? I think there was an interview where Masuda or someone joked that fans wanted all of these features in the games and it was unrealistic, which is such bull to me when they're the largest media franchise in the world.
And Pokemon in the wild being visible (including whether the Pokémon is shiny or not) giving the user to be able to better choose/evade Pokémon.
I think it would make most sense to give trainers the best of both worlds. Have Pokemon visible outside of grass that won't go away until one leaves the area, faints, or battles them, while having patches of random grass as well where higher leveled creatures are, but maybe make it slightly easier to navigate without having to touch grass? I think this would work pretty well and could only be called progress in creating your own difficulty.
I’d want abilities and some of the old mechanics back, but there’s a number of little things here hoping to make it to the main games.
I definitely want abilities and all the old stuff back and think any quality of life upgrades need a hard look to see whether they are really compromising any sense of difficulty. Black 2 had a harder mode after beating the elite 4, I believe and I think many fans would love to be able to choose something like that from the beginning. Not a request that's out of left field since they've already done it once. God, Black and White 2 were great.

@Nekketsu:
I've been wandering in the forest for an entire hour, hoping to catch a bulbasaur. Still no luck.
When you go to catch a mon in the wild, do the other ones change or disappear?

@Foolio:
Having universal access to the PC is game-breaking and the worst idea imaginable. If that makes it into a main game, they're even dumber than I thought.
Yep. I can't actually imagine anything being remotely challenging with that in place. With enough potions, you can beat any given trainer and make it to a gym without ever having to think about switching something up or going to heal, or by god, even leveling up. I wonder if the game has X attacks and the like?
