Hahahaha this chapter is 10/10 just because of the face-faults.
Seriously though it was good. Things are moving along nicely. And Bandaged-Luffy looks cool.

Awesome chapter. Wano is really living up to my expectations!
I think whoever is in that cell has been there for years -given the comments from the guards who seemed surprised someone was actually there, and they apparently don't know him- someone from Wano I would expect.
As much as I'd like to see Vegapunk, he is far too important to the government for him to not be well protected from harm let alone kidnapped.
I am still going back from Franky to Robin and back continuously and laughing non stop.
Someone, at some point, in this arc, is going to give Luffy a mountain of meat.
I love that Kaidou was disappointed that he sobered up. Found that scene funny.
The facefaults were just perfect.
I love that Kaidou was disappointed that he sobered up. Found that scene funny.
Relatable too.
Between that and Linlin's angry hunger pangs, the emperors are proving to be just ordinary people like us.
But really, as much complaints I have for post-timeskip OP, one thing Oda is doing right is making amazing big bosses. Caesar, Doflamingo and Linlin all entered the hall of my favorite OP characters, so I had high hopes for Kaido not being just an angry random baddie.
I do think the guy inside is Oden, Since Kaido likes to capture and break ppl with strong will, and Oden might be inside for 20yrs and fake stories of him dead is just a cover up, And spitting bones to kill ppl seems like a move of a samurai, Hahaha

Kin'emon and Co. did witness his execution. It was a bit before they found Toki at the burning castle.
Highly unlikely given Vegapunk is a Scientist for the Marines and Fujitora only recently just got back from seeing him and his latest inventions just before the Reverie started.
I can't explain Fujitora's meeting, but Vegapunk has a history with Kaido (the entrance to Punk Hazard has a Kaido-esque sign that predates Caesar's reactivation of the facilities and his name fits with Kaido's gambling theme as I mentioned before). There's also a growing pile of evidence that indicates Kaido has long been an ally of the Marines (just this chapter we learned that for at least the last 20 years Kaido has controlled the world's supply of Seastone and those factories sit atop what looks like the remains of a massive but relatively recent stone quarry). Kaido's dream of an apocalyptic war is also similar to the purge suggested by one of the Gorosei and the "storm" described by Doflamingo.
The part about the seastone nail and Wano being the source of it, got me thinking maybe we'll get to see Usopp having seastone ammo on his arsenal. If people in Wano only have mines of seastone, and not other metals like iron, they would use it for everything including in carpentery. Sry if alredy brought up here, i haven't read all the posts

Yup, was suggestin the same thing aswell as for Franky's cyborg body. Usopp has zero chance against any top member of any Yonkou crew. Oda needs to develop his newly found CoO at least. Usopp should stop taking near death beating from every arc villan. Franky also needs some seastone knuckles that can hurt DF users as nipple lasers and firefarts are not enough.
Kin'emon and Co. did witness his execution. It was a bit before they found Toki at the burning castle.
The exact phrase was "he was boiled, boiled into a piping hot oden soup" I doubt kin'emon and co have nuff time to watch the whole boiling process, and knowing one piece world, boiling someone takes much longer than the normal world. Oven tried to boil the fishman and they can even bare with it for a while.
What i know is in 7 chapters i'm 100% sure Oda will reveal who is this guy (300 chapters later):
Replying to RigaCrypto
Usopp snipping Kaido's forces with carpenter seastone nails would be a great start and the knucles for Franky yes. Maybe Franky gains access to the "blueprints" on working seastone while they are at Wano and combines it with Wapol metal technology that he has creathing the ultimate metal of One-Piece! That would be brutal, an indestructable megazord with lazer beams of death and coup-de-burst X]
So there are five acts in this arc, not three?
Could the person in the other cell be… Caribou???? :ninja:
So there are five acts in this arc, not three?
From Wikipedia's kabuki article:
Nearly every full-length play occupies five acts. The first corresponds to jo, an auspicious and slow opening which introduces the audience to the characters and the plot. The next three acts correspond to ha, speeding events up, culminating almost always in a great moment of drama or tragedy in the third act and possibly a battle in the second and/or fourth acts. The final act, corresponding to kyu, is almost always short, providing a quick and satisfying conclusion.
So where is the sword of luffy? Was left in Leftover town or kaidou got the sword?
@Elektrik:
Could the person in the other cell be… Caribou???? :ninja:
Really doubt that. Considering Kaido's employment policy and all. He seems to be worse than Luffy when it comes to inviting people to join. And an opportunist like Caribou, stubbornly sitting in the cell, refusing to join… :/
Let's wait for Zoro first.
Out of all the SH Zoro is the only other one with the will to be King, King of the Swordsmen. So yeah, Zoro will most defintely have Conquerors. We can even argue that what he did to Monet was a shade of conquerors coming through.
Sanji not so much. Can you imagine Sanji inadvertently making a woman shit her pants out of fear through haki.
True, putting it this way that guy can be anyone, especially since one the samurai silhouettes mentioned by Kinemon and Oden silhouette as well wear a straw hat. This guy might be one of them without the hat. I’m telling it from a plot and foreshadowing perception. Nothing hints toward Vegapunk if not for a similiarity in silhouettes (and silhouettes can be really decieving, especially in One Piece. If you think about the original Kaidou silhouette you can get my point). I don’t see the involvement of Vegapunk in this prison scenario, especially I don’t expect Vegapunk to have that personality. As I said in One Piece you can elaborate every kind of theories but Oda always builds a road to follow that’s costellated with foreshadows. In my opinion Vegapunk is dealing with the gigantified children at the moment (brought to him by Smoker, Fujitora is a friend of him, shares the same way of thinking and the two probably meet a lot. Also Fujitora mentioned Vegapunk regarding the Sichibukai situation, a theme that is the main core of Issho himself. I don’t see a red herring but the right character construction there).
That said, we have to wait for the reveal, hopefully in two weeks. If Oda wants to pull a huge twist here i keep telling that fishbone guy = Oden is the more fitting and more intriguing plot twist, story wise for this arc. But I suppose it’s more one of the two missing samurai.
There is a possible road built here, considering this whole saga started in Vegapunk's own old lab. Vegapunk left, Caesar used what he learned with Vegapunk to make SMILE. There are definitely connections and possibilities that anyone with some imagination could make. Vegapunk knows more than anyone about devil fruits. One of the central figures of this arc, Momo, has a devil fruit Vegapunk has made. Main character of the manga is due an awakening of his devil fruit. We're running out of possible places in the story where we might meet Vegapunk.
Some things don't quite add up or make sense, definitely. But that damn silhouette is as close to Vegapunk's shown silhouette as it can be. So it's not one of Oden's old mates, nor is it Oden himself. It's either Vegapunk or, i don't know, his brother or cousin or something. Vegafunk?
So caribou would probably be here since drake captures hum wanna know how oda would integrate him in the story.
Also I think either Denjiro or Kawamatsu is the fishbone guy.
That would set up the story by luffy luffy having a prison breakout and letting this guy out.
Also my prediction is that Zoro would be the one going to rescue luffy since he is the closestand he will meet up with killer… The two would rampage and will try to free luffy and kid but drake would intervene since he is the headliner in charge with Udon along with 2 other headliners(1 boy and 1 girl) and then one of the other all-star/calamity will arrive and that will be the end of act 2: a prison riot
OMFG I really hope the silhouette is not goddamn forking caribou.
I think Oda made Caribou exactly for the purpose of "the guy who messes up things in favor of the main characters" for when shit hits the fan. Also i'm sure Oda has made his DF specifically for storing something at a later time that only he could do.
I don't know having him find out about Poseidon and not jse it feels like a waste of a plot point.
I absolutely love Oda framing this arc as a kabuki show and separating it into acts. It's a really interesting creative choice, and between this and the musical sequences in Whole Cake it really feels like Oda is playing around with his style and storytelling. It makes it feel so fresh.
That can be easilly brushed off. Might even be a red herring to make us believe it couldn't possibly be Vegapunk. There didn't seem to be much reason to even mention Vegapunk at that time, really.
Man, I really don't think the World Government would let Kaidou get away with Kidnapping Vegapunk.
In my opinion that would be similar to capturing Ace. The WG would send its entire force to get back Vegapunk.
But then again, Kaidou's goal is to engulf the world in war and what better way to set off the WG than by capturing their golden goose.
Another argument that supports your point is that Vegapunk is associated with Time Travel(considering his island was future themed or something like that) and now Wano has time travel plus its his SMILES being used. Makes sense.
However, the theory that its Oden is more plausible than Vegapunk IMO.

And the one on the right side threw the fishbones at the guard.

That's a pretty big reach. Having the knowledge to build advanced tech has nothing to do with time travel, not to mention the method of time travel in Wano is through a DF user.

Well whats stopping Vegapunk from having a Devil Fruit.
We know that there are fruits that are simialr but with variations. For example the Kilo-kilo fruit and the Tonne-Tonne fruit. So I think its logical that if there is a fruit that sends people forward in time. Perhaps there is a fruit that sends people backward in time. Hence Vegapunks ability to develop technology out of his time.
The island franky went to was the most futuristic island we've seen ever. Perhaps it was built by a Futterman

Oda already explicitly settled the whole going back in time possibility. If you believe Toki is lying/ignorant of that possibility, you do you, but I frankly have no reason to think otherwise.
Robin's reaction tho <3
Gave me flashbacks to the Huh Brothers in Eyeshield (which were translated sometimes as Hah. I guess this explains it)
The last 3 chapters collectively may just be my favorite thing ever in One Piece so far. And believe me I don't say that lightly.
Now, I'm not one of those fans who believe the old, classic arcs such as Arlong Park, Alabasta, or Skypeia are inherently superior than the arcs we've gotten post-timeskip. It all connects in a good way and many of those early arcs had to doubly flesh out a world that wasn't quite as well understood as it is today. But at the same time I, and I assume many of you, have a deep fondness for those old arcs and do have a reverence for them for elevating One Piece into heights that other manga just didn't quite reach.
THIS is how crazy the past 3 chapters have been for me. Wano is making me feel the same way I felt when I read those old school arcs. It's making me feel that so hard I'm actually feeling legit nostlagic right now.
The reason I point this out is because a lot of this, for me, hinges on my own personal hype for Kaidou. In many ways, Kaidou was THE element I was looking forward to most in the manga. And I believe he was built up and then shown off absolutely flawlessly. I was hyped for him ever since learning he's the guy who broke Moria, and then was aggressive enough to go after WB but had to be intercepted by Shanks. He was the Yonkou who went the longest before we were officially introduced to him. When we finally WERE in Chapter 795, his design alone was so fiercely intimidating I knew that Oda had already nailed it.
Cause we needed a character like Kaidou who actually FEELS like he commands the fear/loyalty/respect of absolute monsters like JACK the very first character to have a bounty over a billion.
So the last 3 chapters have been a ride. We got to learn his Devil Fruit. A lot of people had theorized it would be a dragon, and in response to those theories i was like ya ok it makes sense but it'd be kinda boring and predictable…. but the sheer amazing execution of it won me over instantly. Seeing him one shot Luffy in his human form only made it better. That was the kind of steamroll we needed to see, and now it's capped off with him being thrown into the same prison as Kidd, with confirmation that Kidd has CoC.
Bringing Kidd back in an organic way is so fucking awesome but there's one thing I want to point out about Kaidou:
The reason I was so hype for Kaidou is because Kaidou destroyed a potential plot thread I was really hyped at the idea of.
Back when Kidd, Apoo, and Hawkins teamed up and declared their intention to take down Shanks, THAT was already hype enough for me. I honestly would have loved to see a combined On Air-Kidd-Hawkins Pirates try to take down Shanks. But Kaidou fell on them and only a couple chapters later we see that he's broken the On Air-Kidd-Hawkins alliance and gotten Apoo (and we later find out Hawkins) to work for him, and has beaten the everloving shit out of Kidd.
HOLY SHIT.
The past 3 chapters completely re-contextualizes Chapter 795 for me. Kaidou was introduced proper in a REALLY WEIRD WAY. He was introduced as someone who's so powerful he can't die no matter what, and this has made him attempt to kill himself just as a form of amusement. Let me put it another way: Kaidou is so goddamn bored because he's so strong no combat's a challenge to him, and he basically can't be damaged. He's kinda like Saitama, in a weird way. He's so bored he's been reduced to trying to kill himself as a hobby just to see if anything will actually do the job.
The other reason I love Kaidou is because him being a huge drunk makes everything make sense in character. This is a guy who can become sentimental about his crew but also wants to start the craziest war the world's ever seen because he's just bored. Even his suicidal hobby makes sense when you re-contextualize it with the fact that he's a huge alcoholic. Even something like him leaving Law for later made TOTAL SENSE to me.
From Kaidou's perspective, it doesn't matter whether or not he goes after Law now, or later. There's absolutely nothing Law can do to him. Fighting with Luffy sobered him up so he'd rather go and get drunk again and let his underlings deal with it.
So I feel like we've been giving a good helping of setup, some tasty reveals like Kaidou's fruit, and an excellent cliffhanger of Luffy being locked up with Kidd. I honestly can't wait to see where Wano goes from here, and that's what I meant when I said it gives me a nostalgic feeling of the old arcs. I just want the next chap to drop immediately so I can find out what's going to happen next. I didn't necessarily feel that way during parts of WCI.
So yeah, give it to me Oda.
P.S. i don't need to post the Jinbe Rap again to let you guys know that JINBE'S PROLLY JOINING THIS ARC GET READY FOR MONKEY AND FISHMAN FIGHTING THE DRAGON. IT'S LAND, SEA, AND AIR BOYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Can't Kaidou not, y'know, drown?
Robin shouldn't make facefaults. It feels like being against the laws of nature.
Can't Kaidou not, y'know, drown?
I'm sure he can, but that's not the point. Kaidou doesn't want to kill himself, and it's not that he's suicidal necessarily. It's more about wanting to test his own limits. Like, imagine one day you wake up and you find out you're superman. You know Kryptonite will make you weak, but you want to REALLY test that you're superman so you jump off a skyscraper to see if you'll live.
Then you find out you do live and think of some other way you might be killed if you weren't superman. Rinse and repeat.
The pessimistic assumption is that he really can't die and drowning himself would be just endless choking without a way out.
The only eyes that sillhouete match are Momo's tho.
don't even get how people find them similar to Caribou, Absa or Moria, those aren't matching eyes at all.
If Kaido holds Vegapunk hostage, WG can't just go to open war. In fact, it would probably be a last resort.
Think about what benefits captured Oden would bring to this arc and the story in general. Think what benefits Vegapunk being introduced here unexpectedly would bring.
Weigh between these 2.
Can't Kaidou not, y'know, drown?
Probably the sea would split open. I am still betting on Kaido's immortality being some sort of super luck rather than an iron body like Linlin. Chapter 795 mentions ropes splitting when they tried to hang him and that's not the kind of thing that a hard body would do. It also says that guillotine blades mysteriously break, not that they shatter because they can't cut him.
My bet is that the weapons used to kill him break on their own instead of breaking because of his hard body. When he tries to jump from a high place, he lands on a particularly soft patch. If he tries to drown, something will happen to make the water spill, etc. And I have nothing to support that.
Another great chapter and this is a nice stopping moment.
Was a bit surprised Law didnt shambles luffy away and that he got locked up.
I wonder what exactly the headlines said about luffy.
So glad Tama is being taken care of, I never thought she was dead but still nice to see that dogstorm found her. Also confirms everyone else is relatively close by.
Also was the last page just scenic and said lady was zoomed in on or is she there?
I think that's consistent with his behavior and personality so far. He was drunk when he said he wanted to kill them so he probably doesn't remember that he said that or if even he did, he's shown to be an impulsive person in all his appearances up to now like his decision to jump off Sky Island or wanting to attack Whitebeard for example. I think that's what makes the Wano arc very interesting, all the events are very unexpected because of Kaido's erratic moods and spontaneous actions like his sudden early appearance in the arc which lead to an even more surprising early encounter with Luffy.
Yeah, honestly thats why I lile Kaido way more than Big Mom. She comes off as a big child, while Kaido is just a reckless badass with a bordeom so high he has a literally death wish. Hes insane in a specific way and I love that about him! This arc is going to be SO HUGE!
If you really think about it we have all of the supernovas except for Bonnie, Capone, and Urogue. We have the Wano Samurai and Ninja, the minks, the Strawhat and Heart Pirate Alliance..we have Big Mom possobly coming, we have Kaido and his crew…. on top of that I still think the straw hat Grand Fleet will take part as well. This arc has the potential to he bigger than Marineford EASILY! I hope it is too, because the only part 2 arc I genuinely liked was Dressrosa (and I admit it had issues too) so I want my Excitement here to not be misplaced... I don't want another dissapointment like the Big Mom arc we just had. (Katakuri was awesome, at least.)
If the guardians of the prison doubt that the guy in the cell even exists, it's because he's been there for a long, long, very long time. It can only be one of the two other samurais Kinemon was talking about
@uniaka:
So where is the sword of luffy? Was left in Leftover town or kaidou got the sword?
Probably at the same place than his dango stick
Wano really has a lot of magical minerals. They have those Mega and Super stones and they have seastones. I really question how there haven't been war between WG in them yet. They definitely seems like the kind of place you want to take a chance on. I would like a backstory of a war fought 70-50 years ago and that's why the WG don't go there anymore.
I am not exactly sure what Kaido means by erasing the world pirate. He clearly is not so does he mean Luffy? Does that mean that he first have to falsify the history of those he recruits?
Wanting to recruit people is one of the better reasons to actually imprison people in my opinion. It's already proven to work it seems and there is value to having strong subordinates.
I wonder who is that fella that tries to kill people with fishbones. I'm gonna guess one of the samurai mentioned by Kinemon for now.
I wonder why the bandage on Luffy's face. It didn't seemed much worst than the rest or Kidd.
Zoro is going to Kaido's home. With everyone still in infiltration mode I'm not sure what he will do.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
That nail should have been way deeper into Law for me to buy it wouldn't be quickly dealt with. I'm just going to suppose he didn't want to be shot a bunch.
Kaido beating Luffy is whatever, I like the fact that the this arc has "acts" which helps it stand apart.
Having Kid show up is going to be cool, looking forward to seeing him play off the cast.
The Robin Face fault was the best part of the chapter, and I am glad Oda is showing how much Robin is being affected by being around the Straw Hats so much.
Yeah but Smoker only has a tiny nub on a thin stick. If the club is like three kilos of solid seastone on a handle that's a whole 'nother thing no? Isn't there some sort of area of effect on a huge amount of the material? Or maybe i'm confusing things. I had the notion that seastone emitted an aura that effected even without direct contact
With it 2cm from Law's face it only gave him slight disconfort and didn't stop him from anything. And everytime there's seastone bars Luffy has to touch it to feel the effect. The aura of seastone is superweak. It mostly take away your power/weaken you on contact.
The only question is where is the club when he flies. if it's touching his dragon body then no it couldn't be seastone.
One of the 3 with completely different silhouettes, you mean?
Why reuse that same silhouette he used with Vegapunk, it's near identical. Only difference can be explained with different clothes.
Consider all crazy and farfetched twists in OP up to date and tell me how Vegapunk being here would be the craziest thing ever. :ninja:
Oda has 3 silhouettes of kinemon made none of which actually come close to what he looks like also if you look closely you could see that the fishbone guy could have the basket cover mask that samurais uses. Although i think it is just me seeing that.
I for one am a fan of impossible theories but there should be evidence that could support it but when facts contradicts the theory it just come out as absurd.
The possibility of this being vegapunk is as likely as the fifth guy in a hat in kinemons past being shiki…
Do people seriously think that's Vegapunk locked up in there? Smoker and Tashigi have been sailing to meet him since the end of Punk Hazard. I'm pretty sure they'd call in advance, and would know if he was missing.

I’d say we have the blueprint for how this arc’s going to go — but that describes just about how every One Piece arc goes.
In terms of first acts, this is among the best I can remember post-TS, and there’s been some good openings in the New World. The issue has always been what comes after, when the space between the speeding up of events and the culmination balloons out of control. So we’ll see. But so far, so great.

Not to mention Fujitora said he went to him during the reverie arc and his secret weapon.
Edit: although they didnt meet, if he was kidnapped it would come up lol.
