I hope Horikoshi sees this story somehow.
My Hero Academia II - A true Hero

@TLC:
I read the Viz shonen jump version. Are you going to say that has poor scan quality too? Stop blaming other factors that have nothing to do with it, this isn't the first time people have complained about Horikoshi having poor fight choreography and panel flow.
You literally complained about not being able to comprehend the panel flow before Viz released their chapter. So you either read MS version or you're a bad liar. For every person that says they have trouble following the panel there's several others that say the opposite which just leads me to believe its a problem on your part and not the mangaka especially since you seem to find to make a up reason to criticize the series every week instead of dropping it to spare us your inspid whining.
-
The action can be really messy and hard to follow at times, there's no point denying it.
Oh and please don't use plural when talking about something that bothers you specifically. Some people just like to complain a lot, or are harder to please. Don't see what's so dramatic about it.
-

Oh course I can deny because I don't have a problem following it. If people like you can actually give an actual argument to your claim then this can never be an issue.

I'm talking about what I see in this thread not whatever you're talking about.

Or maybe I reread it on the Viz version and found that it didn't help.

Pacing. Manga can drop a tease for a future story arc however far in advance it wants, assuming readers will be getting all the tanks, especially if the author knows that character is coming up soonish, but the anime has to think about their season length and where their hiatus is going to fall.
They bring it up now, and then in a few weeks they go on break for the next 9 months, and then take a while still to get to that plot point again, that's a LONG time for the casual anime audience to forget something like that. THey can bring it up again later when its closer to being story important.
This is also why we're getting more filler than we did the earlier seasons… they're trying to get to a clean stopping place and not start up the next arc right before breaking.
HxH did something similar with Kite where even though he was super important to launching the story, they left him out because he wasn't going to appear in the story for a hundred episodes, 2 years later. So they saved that bit for a while.
Oh, that makes sense, thanks for the answer.
-
I tend to find his panelling to be hit and miss in MHA. I usually begin to be a struggle when it comes down to the fights and it can take a few re-reads to do it. But perhaps this is the perils of reading the manga digitally. I bought some of the earlier books before switching to Comixology and the weekly Jump and didn't have this issue as much. A messy-style on a small screen does not help at all.
Fatigue also doesn't help. Right now I just dont feel invested in My Hero Academia. I didn't feel comfortable with the Endevour arc and this arc isn't doing much for me yet. Once the Anime ends it's season and the hype dies back down I plan on taking a break (because unfortunately its almost impossible to wait for Jump without being spoilt on social media never mind a month or two)

Not that I can't, just don't have extra time. This thread existed even before you joined. But seriously, are you actually saying there's no room for improvement in action scenes here?
Well not many people get so bitchy about it, is what I'm saying.
-
I personally don't have a hard time following action scenes in the manga, but there is definitely room for improvement. I still dislike how Horikoshi generally draws Deku's kicks for his Shoot Style.
-
The action could and should be better, but again, context, the main solid complain of this chapter is "I didn't get that Ibara/Vine was mind controlled", and if this wasn't a fight showcasing Shindo, I'd give that one complaint a fair shake, but supose the case that it wasn't that, that suddenly she stopped, the next page is someone screaming "that wasn't my voice" and shindo in the shadows, meaning that the answer was one page flip away.

Small nitpick, it's Shinso. I wouldn't worry normally, it's clear who you mean and all, but Shindo is the earthquake guy from the licensing exam so there's room for actual confusion.
-
Fair enough. Most of my post about the guy are probably using both names at random.
-
Surprised so many people didn't get the brainwashing, considering Ibara was drawn with the blank eyes that brainwashed victims have.
-
Yeah, I'm legitimately shocked that so many people had issues following what I thought was some pretty damn straightforward stuff .___.
-
(non)counterpoint:
-Shiozaki's brainwashing was extremely obvious
-Endeavor vs. High-End was a disgusting mess of tangled limbs and garbled action -
To be honest, the moment I saw the panel I was like "wait, what happened here?", it took me a second to get what happened, but even if I hadn't figured out by myself it would be clear as soon as I turned the page and had a panel of Shinso with Rin screaming "IT WASN'T ME WHO SAID THAT!"… actually I'm pretty sure Horikoshi intention was exactly that, for you to get intrigued by the panel and then turn the page and go "oh, right!".
The Endeavor and the Overhaul fights I agree could be really confusing and figuring out what was going on some times took time enough to actually ruin the pace of the reading, but this chapter was really fluid and clear, the time you need to properly get the moves and choreography is only enough to make you appreciate the moves, not to hamper the flow of the reading.
-
I just remembered Deku making the same face during the sports festival, and instantly put 2 & 2 together.
"Oh hey, she just got the face twitch. Nice job Shinso" -
Horikoshi's action can have decent flow, he just often crams enough details in there to require the reader to think while they're reading. You have to be looking closely enough to make inferences between some panels.
He's had excellent action art (Gentle, everything Bakugo), two very messy fights (High-end and Overhaul) and a lot of stuff in between. Seems like he does better with dynamic movement and tends to go overboard with monstrous or out-of-control quirks.
-
Well with Overhaul you had a brilliantly clean action while Mirio was fighting him, and then messiness immediately after.
-
Next chapter:
! everything seems like either I was wrong and we'll be getting more fights, or we are getting some more exposition for Tokoyami.
Even with 2 chapters clash with the ones without shindo, that's about a volume in this test. I'm willing to get that, but I do wonder if that's the plan. -

MS is out first, though the translation is bad in some spots.Y'all ready for some EDGE?
-
The page where the two chuunis interact killed me, we already had the manly hardening duo, but they didn´t make me laugh like Tokoyami and Kuroiro little exchange did. The later has a quirk similar to Mimic´s, but a lot more limited. I kind of wanna see the two of them team up and form "the invincible at night" duo.
Happy that Hori is showing the rest of the fight and class B kids, like Shishida, Kuroiro became a lot more likeable with just a few scenes, at least for me.
-
Mushroom girl… so cute...
I hope Class A was specifically trying to isolate Kuroiro, otherwise it was very stupid of them to not see that coming (and then Class B will reveal they intended to have Kuroiro isolated, otherwise it was very stupid of them to not see that coming).
-
Bring forth a whole volume of inter-class fighting. No, two.
-
I'm really liking these chapters. Class B has some interesting quirks. Kuroiro is pretty nifty specifically.
-
Y'all ready for some EDGE?
-
^Not black enough.
We got to smart leaders going head to head, I like it. No idea what Tokoyami will do but I like his outfit. Not sure what Kendou's up to but if Class B takes out Tokoyami they're in deep trouble, they lose their strong arm. And, I'm even more fascinated by that manga kid. He's wearing some armor/robot/mecha suit. Don't know what that's about. And points to all the other students for planning for their upcoming matches now.
So this is Shinso's hero exam, I guess. He can share a dest with Deku after he joins.
-
I need to see Fukidashi's quirk in action. Tokoyami is my favorite, but I just can't resist a guy who inexplicably has manga pages and panels for a face.
-
I bet Fukidashi is basically Echoes Act 2.
-
Well that's odd, I'm bleeding. The edge is so powerful it can cut through my laptop screen.
…Was Tokoyami always this buff? Close combat was stated to be his weakness before, right?
And Midnight continues to be a reverse Mineta. I sometimes question who allowed her to teach these kids.
-

Now I’m going to be tremendously disappointed if it’s anything other than this.
Great chapter. I was worried since I heard it had less pages, but it was probably my favorite of the arc so far.

Tokoyami has definitely been working out.
-
He also wears a cloak most of the time though he's probably more fit since the festival
-
I kinda like the rivalries that be forming between class A and B.
Monoma vs Mineta will be the final challenge.

Monoma losing to someone like Mineta would be pretty perfect.

So who do you guys want to knock monoma's daylights out

@Long:
So who do you guys want to knock monoma's daylights out
pretty much anyone…I mean he keeps trying to start shit. It could be from anyone and it'd be perfect. Except from Deku.

Maybe ochako will lose some of those martial arts in a real fight
and not to hold down an unconcious man after deku knocked him out -
Monoma losing to someone like Mineta would be pretty perfect.
Because would he really want to copy Mineta's quirk? Actually that would be hilarious.
-
I think Mineta might actually be able to use his balls like a vineyard whip now that his costume's "hair" has a vine tip on it.
-
Because would he really want to copy Mineta's quirk? Actually that would be hilarious.
Would that make him change hairstyle?
-
@Long:

I don't really care who does it, just answer the question first of what happens if he copies Deku's quirk.
-
-
Monoma's quirk is really potentially dangerous to others. Forget about the OFA backlash if he takes someone's quirk is he starting froma skill of zero with it? Because if he took mina's quirk and couldnt control the acidicity he could accidentally blind someone. Since a lot of quirks can have drawbacks and/or steep learning curves I think he has to get some level of control with it or he'd be like a baby deer instead of anyone effective at all.
-
If he's smart he'd stay wit the quirks of his own team.
So he's going to copy class A and get overwhelmed by it.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I do wonder who are the class B Deku, Bakugo and Todoroki.
Like Iida and Ibara because they are suckers for the rules, tetsutetsu and kirishima because mysterious reasons, kendo and Momo for being class representative, and now the black dude and tokoyami because DARKNESS.

As to whether we're going to get all matches…
In two weeks, the manga will reach chapter 200. So I fully expect that we're going to see something happen next week with
! Hagakure.
I might be wrong. After all, the 100th chapter didn't have anything special (except boobs). But I'd like to think the 200th chapter could be a nice point for a possible revelation… or a twist.

If 100 was an oppai joke, maybe 200 will be ass one

Wait, wasn't 100 the room tournament?
