Blackbeard has never been specifically shown to be interested in Poneglyphs. Nor has he shown any inclination in trying to get to Raftel. Therefore one can only conclude that his idea of becoming the Pirate King is different from Luffy's. He is not really interested in One Piece, but wants to become Pirate King through world domination.

He and his crew will at some point single-handedly defeat everyone (except for the Straw Hat Pirates), from the Yonkous Luffy hasn't yet defeated to the WG, and the Marines too, thus conquering the world. Luffy will then challenge his supremacy when he's back from the only island Black Beard hasn't managed to conquer, and with what he has discovered on Raftel, the SHP will defeat the Black Beard Pirates.

Basically what distinguishes BB from Luffy is that one wants to be A Pirate-King, i.e a king who happens to be a pirate, and the other aspires to become THE Pirate King, i.e the king of pirates.

Forseeable Future

The return of Fishman Island?

The Strawhats escape Tottoland and the BMP bear a grudge.
Offpanel, the BMP lick their wounds, fend off a few minor incursions,
and in due time head to Fishman Island to exact bloody vendetta.

After escaping, the Strawhats reunite on Wano, befriend the locals and take the palace.
But Kaido, mid-face off with Luffy or after downing Kidd, will finally get Caribou's intel
on Poseidon and say "I am the King of Beasts, and if I control Poseidon I will be King of Sea Kings!
mwahahaha That is the final piece of my plan!" and take off for Fishman Island.

The Pirate/Mink/Samurai/Ninja alliance gives chase and on the way gets an SOS that
Big Mom is laying waste to Fishman Island. It leads to an epic 3-way fight between Luffy,
Big Mom and Kaido, where Luffy concludes the only way to defeat the Emperors is to break
the now evacuated island and flood it, disabling all 3 until he gets saved by Shirahoshi.

There are actually several fleet of Germa other than Germa 66, and they are all distinguished from each other through their numbers and their idiosyncrasies. Germa 2 (read as "Germa Ni") for instance will have a German theme.

If Pekoms DF is awakened, we might see Godzilla(Gamera) in One Piece when he transformed in his Sulong form.

The Thousand Sunny has an animal theme and probably has electricity running somewhere in it… this is an indication that the sunny is a minkman (minkship?). It went full sulong shortly before the explosive attack and switched places with an unsuspecting ship.

The Sunny will be severely damaged, but will stay stable enough for Jinbe to keep it afloat and swim it away. Big Mom will then confront the Straw Hats at the border only for Jinbe to plunge the Sunny into her, Little Mermaid-style, killing her.

Pedro faked his death in an elaborate scheme to get Carrot to join the crew. Now that Jinbe's off fighting the Big Mom Pirates, Pedro will sneak in and assassinate the blue whale, allowing Carrot to take over the helmsman position.

But Joining the crew IS his dream–he's going to spend the rest of the story repeatedly catching up to the Sunny only for events to unfold in such a way that he has to split off again and promise to join up later. We right now have almost all of the lives of the strawhats mapped out, with a complete path of their formative years, Sanji in Baratie, Nami with Arlong, Usopp in the village, Chopper studying medicine, Robin running from the marines, Franky learning shipbuilding and Brook predating the needs of such things.

After the Kuina incident, he got into a marine academy and was recruited, rose through ranks, and for his initiative, stupidity and strenght was deemed a valuable spy.
