…Just when I thought this trend of live-action remakes couldn't disappoint me even more.

Well, Jeremy Irons didn't really "sing" it, it was more of a talk-through song. Still doesn't mean Scar shouldn't have a song.

Only part of it was even Jeremy Irons with Jim Cummings doing a lot of it.
If you listen closely to it, you can spot the shift.

In fairness, I get keeping "Feel the Love" because it allows them to montage the fact that Simba and Nala are falling in love (which they had to because this is a Disney movie from that time, even though it adds little the story). That's actually more than can be said than for Be Prepared, which doesn't advance the plot (everyone is just goose stepping in place) or the characters (no one grows, we don't learn any real insights about them).
But… Be Prepared is a thousand times more catchier song.
-
Be Prepared still cements Scar's motivation to usurp Mufasa by killing him and his progeny, as well as the alliance with the Hyenas by promising food. These are all small things we could already infer from the character interactions and got mentioned in less than a whole three minute song, but it still feeds more into the plot than just a catchy song.
-
All of which we know before the song starts.
-
Be Prepared is also the second best song song in the movie (after Circle of Life.) Cutting it is a crime.
If they leave in the dammable Morning Report insert….
-
Whhaaaaaat? Be Prepared is by far my favorite song in TLK, I love wordy songs that are so smoothly delivered. I can recite the lyrics from memory. And the effects that could've been dazzling for live action!

They're not going to do that, but I am worried (based on the article) that they will not end on the Circle of Life and instead likely use new song by Beyoncé (which misses the damn thematic point of the Circle).
-
I get a feeling I'll try and stay away from this adaptation. I have too much nostalgia for the original and the fact that this will be live action (which still baffles me) is just… it takes away one of the biggest charms of the original. The art style, the colours, the animation all played a huge part in making The Lion King into a cult-classic (with the music of course).
Also, kind of not related to anyone else, but the Hungarian voice actor for Mufasa passed away a long time ago, and I can hardly imagine one better suited for the role.

Her song would be during the credits, like Elton John's rendition of Can You Feel the Love was.

-
Well, no Candy Crush for now.
Good.
-
-
The kid at the end reminds me of young Moana at the start of her movie. In fact, the model might have been recycled.
-
I enjoyed that ending a little more than a proper grown up should.
-
really wasn't expecting that ending, got me good.
-
snort It got me laughing, so it succeeded.
-
I wasn't feeling it at first, but the end bit with the pancakes made me chuckle.
-
Yeah the ending with the pancakes got me laughing. C'mon how many teens and adults looked at those kiddie games of 'take care of pets, feed them ect' and imagined what would happen if fed too much.
-
I will say this: it definitely looks better than that awful Emoji movie.
-
Ok. It was just a fine trailer but that last bit just had me burst out laughing. I just love how excited Ralph is during the whole thing.
-
-
They barely showed anything, so I can't tell if I'm hopeful or wary.
-
Is this a joke?
-
No, sadly not a joke. I'm not sure how I feel about that either.
-
well part of me was worried that this would set in a modern era. but this has put that question to rest.
-
That Pooh looks a tad bit terrifying.
-
Didn't that movie already happen like a few months ago? I could be wrong, but I was almost sure that a Christopher Robin movie was released not very far back at all.

That was a biographical film, and wasn't made by Disney.
-
Because, really, why wouldn't you make a movie about Christopher Robin interacting with Winnie the Pooh as an adult when he spent almost his entire life conflicted about the impact his father's works had on him (the poem Vespers in particular) and who disliked the idea of commercializing the characters?
-
Because something something Saving Mr Banks
-
Plus, something something Paddington.
-
What's that movie where an adult woman is forced to deal with her suppressed imaginary friend?
I mean, at least Jim Cummings(?) is still voicing Pooh?

You mean Drop Dead Fred?
Man, it's been so long since I've watched that. -

Man, it's been so long since I've watched that.Yes! That felt like a fever dream.
Weirdest movie I ever saw, except for that one where these witches turn….a glasses-wearing boy into a mouse?

That was The Witches and the book was even more odd. No shock though with it coming from Roald Dahl.
-
Not to mention rather antisemitic.
-
Well shit who from those eras weren't racist, sexist, or anti-semetic.
-
Dahl had his problems. Thankfully they mostly didn't make it into his books.

Man, it has been a loooooonnng time since I saw that movie.

And as often is, the book is better than the movie.

Dahl tends to go past "a product of his time" and into "jeez, what is wrong with you." You don't write “There is a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity […] I mean, there’s always a reason why anti-anything crops up anywhere; even a stinker like Hitler didn’t just pick on them for no reason" in 1983 to a British political magazine and have it ignored.

That sounds like the plot of Paranoia Agent.

JFC.

Or Imaginary Mary though that's a TV show.

There's a bunch more on the channel, I won't post them all. Beauty and the Beast, Matrix, Harry Potter….

Gravity Falls' Grunkle Stan improves on other Disney cartoon theme songs!
(Getting real sick of video tags not working for me on just this forum! The exact same links work just fine everywhere else)

I think its cause you're truncating the links rather than providing full code.
You're using

Our forum is dumb.

But thats what the "share" link gives me.
Ah well.

I have to manually change it. I just add in the www. Then adjust so it spells out YouTube and not that youtu.be link.

What has Hirsch been up to lately? Recall interviews about his dislike of Disney bureaucracy, but now he’s doing things like this and got a full series release for GF. And haven’t heard of any of his new projects that he seemed to have down the line.
