Does anybody have an idea what "Su Long" might mean or what it might refer to ?
What's Teia? Well, pretty good chapter. Like the SSJ3 Nimbus Ghoul Battle Bunny.
BM losing wait sounds like it's going to be bad.
Jamini and MS have a conflicting translation after Carrot takes her hat off. Is she fighting for Pedro like MS says, or is she also fighting for another weird-named person as in Jamini?
Depending on the answer I might join Carrot nakama camp.
The form itself is cool I guess. I'd wish her connected attacks had a little more impact, though. Seems like a pretty limiting power up. Wonder if Chopper could make some pills to help her out with that.

I don't think is conflicting, Carrot is clearly fighting also for Pedro.
While MS use a more simple translation, JB use the way of talking we saw back then in Zou, where minks used to say after you the postfix teia or gara
The chapter felt very short. Nothing really happened except Carrot turning…more beautiful and mature huh.
I guess I was not the only one who expected some kind of ugly weremonster so this caught me off guard. I kind of like it.
I have to admit, I was hoping for something halfway between the Drum rabbits and a sea king. I am utterly disappointed by this… furry doll. :getlost:
I found it interesting that the lookout on Daifuku's ship recognized her as "a mink warrior who turned Su Long", as in the spoiler thread there was lots of agitation about the fact that BM's crew should know about it through Pekoms or some other mink and yet Perospero seemed surprised. Turns out his surprise was aimed at Big Mum having slimed down.. just goes to show again that you should not judge a chapter based entirely on spoilers (who would've thought–duh!). Jinbe also knew about it, so it doesn't seem to be a huge secret. Additionally, it's stated in this chapter that you have to specifically train for Su Long, so it's safe to assume that not every mink has access to it. Best thing about this chapter next to the obvious Carrot action is definitely Chopper's "OH SHIT" face :D

If you're talking about "you-teia," this is just the way minks talk. They always add tiara after pronouns, except for Carrot who adds teia instead.

lmfao, "rabbit goddes from the moon" wasn't a dumb prediction after all
Wonder if anything serious will happen with Big Mom losing weight like this.
!
At first I thought "well, the XXX guys becoming pirates came out of nowhere. I suppose cover stories are kinda like that, but this feel really disconnected from the rest of their story" and then I realized I completely misunderstood what happened in the previous covers.
Previously we saw them forcing the long arm and leg people to work together while they brainstormed a Jolly Roger. At least I was under the impression they were trying to force the two tribes to become friends and creating a new for a new pirate crew formed by the two tribes working together. And then last week we saw them leaving "we don't care if you hug or kill each other" as if they thought, "well, we did what we could, now it's up to you. We'll not babysit you people".
As it turns out they were drawing their own Jolly Roger, and forcing the tribes to work for them by reforming their new ship. Plus, we can see the Ideo Pirates started their pirate life stealing the treasures from the Longarm and leg people they defeated! I see great future for this crew, most pirate pirate crew in the series.
And I suppose Leo's story (the next to come) will also end with the Tontatta forming a pirate crew since now they are the only non-pirate part of the SH Fleet.
Also, Fujitora + Mink tribe = strongest army in the world ?
Fujitora just needs to a full moon last for ever
Liked the chapter, pace is still a bit slow and I woud have liked we were a bit ahead but everything is settling down.
Anyway, this chapter made me think about one question: What would happen if Big Mom loose consciousness?
In previous chapters was already pointed out twice that the special cream made by Sanji is so tasteful that if eaten would take you out of consciousness.
Also BM loosing weight is hinting in my opinion that at some point some physical reaction would happen in BM.
I believe that the shining moment of Sanji Oda foreshadowed so long will be him kicking the cake inside BM's mouth taking her out of the game.
This chapter showed us that also cannonballs are not so focused when Mom is like that, since almost everything in Tottoland is infused by BM with some kind of soul, I go back to my question, What would happen if Big Mom loose consciousness?
Everything loose its soul and becomes normal? Everything gets out of control and Tottoland collapse?
I believe in the first option, but also some chaos will happen.
If that's the case BM's fleet will be strongly lowered, also with 3 sweet commanders out of the game (only smoothie remaining), and having to face SH, Fishmen Pirates, Capone and Germa (remaining actors yet to join the party) BM's fleet would face an utter defeat and surely let the SH go.
Also, would Capone at that time seize the moment and kill BM while she's unconscious?

Thanks for the clarification. Figured it was some speech schtick.
as i said in the spoiler thread, kaidou will have to destroy the freaking moon!
can't wait to see SSJ Inuarashi and Nekomamushi!

is there a break next week
@mario:
is there a break next week
all of Jump is on break next week I think.
The new introduced son of bm has mroe unique and interesting design then carrot.
btw batsed on his outfit, could he be one of the many impel down prisoners thta escaped 2 years ago?
The Candy Slug homie is looking impossibly cute in the panel with the thin BM. Also I really, REALLY, REEEEEALLY hope Oda is not going where I think he is going with this thing of BM going thin. If this is an excuse to nerf her…
You know, I think the transformation would have worked much better if the the page with the back shot and the Daifuku subordinate announcing the transformation came before the page with the full body reveal instead of after. There would be a small suspense instead of just immediately throwing it. Hm... just wondering about the timing of the reveal, nothing important.
Talking about the transformation itself, reading the spoilers when I saw that last page with Carrot doing that smile, my reaction was something along the lines of "OMG!!!! FUCK THIS, GET OUT OF MY WAY! GET OUT!!! I'M BOARDING THIS THING NOW, I'M NOT EVEN SORRY. BYE!!!
"
I mean, I've always been torn between wanting or not her to join (pros: I want another female SH and if I can't get my grandma SH, a tomboy girl is the next best thing + Carrot4Nakama detractors usually do it in the most dickish ways, so I feel like supporting it just to feel I'm not in the same side as them / Cons: tomboy traits aside, she is pretty generic personality wise), but seeing how amazing she was now and that. fucking. perfect. smile. I definitely decided I would love to see her joining… but reading the chapter itself I felt more like this could lead to the other possibility I was considering: Carrot teaching Chopper in the "Zou warrior ways" and teaching him to use the power of the moon instead of she joining herself.
Also, the whole Sulon scene and design has such a Bleach feeling, to me. And I don't say that as a bad thing. Bleach problem was never not being able to do cool and exciting things, actually Kubo excels at making cool things (his probably is tying all that with a mess excuse of a plot he keeps pretending to know where is heading while having no idea whatsoever). Some purely exciting action and looks without much meaning or weight behind, cool for the sake of being cool, can feel very refreshing once in a while so I was truly excited with this chapter - as long as it doesn't become a trend.
And according to what they said, this Sulon thing is some knowledge kept among the Zou minks and taught to their warriors, so we can expect the minks living in WCI to not have this ability (Pekoms aside). I like Jaimini's Box guess on the name, btw, Ceylon seem to fit the theme and the lion kanji, but I don't think that's it, though (Ceylon is written as セイロン, not スーロン)… I suppose I will keep using random romanizations until someone comes up with one I like.
I have to admit, I was hoping for something halfway between the Drum rabbits and a sea king. I am utterly disappointed by this… furry doll. :getlost:

Thanks guys, forgot about those mink-fixes. :ninja:
So the jury is still on, after all.
So thats what Dog Mink meant when he said when he mentioned their secret weapon.
Very nice.
Both leaders were fighting evenly with Jack in their regular forms, I wonder how strong they are when they transform like this?
Good chapter, now I'm just praying we see Smoothie do something meaningful in the next couple of chapters.
I bet you she has a kind of Diabetes and SHs will actually end up saving her life with that cake
Wonder if anything serious will happen with Big Mom losing weight like this.
I to wonder about that will she become her old attractive self if she looses weight in some kind of transformation. I think Oda would steer clear of that with today's political climate of bodyshaming.
@FreakoFreako:
At first, Carrot looked like she came out of a horror film. Then she turned SSJ 3.
Yeah I love how they showed the emphasis on her "tail" growing. LOL. I hope this form lasts a little while and that although at the very end we see her back to normal that she is still in her rage mode. I will say I never really cared if she joined the crew or not however, after seeing this I am starting to lean towards the join the crew side. It would be good to have an actual strong female character, would this elevated her and Jimbe into the monster trio. Making it a monster cinco or is she part of the lesser trio. I guess if she manages to beat Daifuku or Smoothie maybe her and Franky are mid tier?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Yesssss, finally Carrot doing something. Her transformation goes from looking like some wild untamed possessed monster to a KACARROT. I really like that Oda threw in the idea that you train for it, so it seems a bit more earned. I also like how she keeps her personality throughout it.
Would really love to see her evolution on the Strawhats. Maybe eventually learning to turn on this ability without the moon
I do to it seems more planned that way and not just a plot point of oh hey I can transform into X. Remember I just mentioned if for the very first time this chapter.
@Lord:
Brooke is already black and white.
Technically it seems like she will be white and red in this new form.
@K.:
Everyone focusing on Carrot, while I find interesting that Mr. Mochi dude had to dodge those attacks, Luffy isn't even in Gear fourth.
Yes he dodged them, but why take a punch even if it's not going to hurt. His stance implies they aren't going to do anything but I will dodge them with my arms folded.
@Lord:
True, but like I said in Volume 50 of SBS he listed as both Black and white.
Ebony and Ivory working together in perfect harmony.
I mean really would it make sense for a skeleton to be any color other than white though. Kind of backed into a corner in that aspect.
Really liking Carrot's Ceylon/Su Long transformation! I'm thinking that it only boosts whatever traits the mink naturally has from the animal they happen to be. So because Carrot is a rabbit, she gains super speed.
Just one question, do people honestly think Pedro is still waiting behind a bush somewhere ready to pounce? :wassat:
It´s a bit annoying that Daifuku turned into a mere commentator instead of rubbing out his Genie and attacking her.
LMAO.
@Razh:
Wonder if Chopper could make some pills to help her out with that.
The way Chopper was looking at her transformed form, he might need to make some pills for himself. ROFLMAO

- And according to what they said, this Sulon thing is some knowledge kept
among the Zou minksamong half the world
There, I fixed that for you. Seeing how even random mooks from Big Mom's crew can spot it from a mile away and know what it is and how it's called, I'm guessing there must have been an "everything Minks" special in the New World Times recently. With maybe a map to their secret-phantom-mobile-island-noone-ever-heard-of. At least that would explain how Jack found it. :getlost:
In all seriousness, they could have heard about it from Pekoms or other BM crew Minks. But seeing how the Straw Hats didn't know a thing about Minks a month ago (in comic time I mean), I find it disturbing when exposition is given by such random characters. I would have preferred it coming from another Mink, or someone like Mont d'Or who is privy to Big Mom's books of freaks and can believably have a vast knowledge of the world. Or just Jimbe's words would have been enough.
Cavendish, Bartolomeo, and Sai's parts of the cover story were 5 chapters each, so I assumed that was going to be a pattern all the way through. But this is the 6th for Ideo's. It does seem like this is the last part of it and next time it'll be a different Grand Fleet faction, but it threw me off.
Just one question, do people honestly think Pedro is still waiting behind a bush somewhere ready to pounce? :wassat:
I don't think people in general think he is fine, just that he was left in a near death state so he could be saved later (although it's been ~10 hours since then, so he either bled to death or was saved already by this point).
But him being perfectly fine could also be a thing. I mean, we saw him pretending to do a suicide bombing earlier this arc so it wouldn't be completely surprising if he pulled that out again. It's more a question of why he would pretend to be dead… well, let's not forget we still have a traitor among the mink to identify, although I think we saw too much of Pedro's thoughts for him to convincingly be revealed to be the one.
EDIT:

I meant the knowledge of how to use it. Think about a known sword style and its secret moves, they can be very famous and everyone know about it, but only those trained in that school will know how to perform it.
The knowledge of how to achieve that state seem to be kept hidden in Zou if they can instantly identify Carrot hails from there just because she can use it, so Minks living in other place shouldn't be able to use it even if they know about it.
The SH being ignorant about things the whole world knows is something we are supposed to roll with, I guess. But even if it is not that spread, as long as Pekoms can use it that should be enough for everyone in Totto Land (or at least BMP) to know about, even the underlings.
i'mok with carrot's ssj mode being something more than (or less) than the typical were-animal..if anything because we already have a that kind of transformation with hopper and his monster form, but also because oda has to follow the same theme for the other sui long versions too,and guys lke nekomamushi already look like were-cat.
we don'treally know for sure how powerful this version is since she deals only with goons, but it's good that she used her head and ripped the helm.

I honestly think it's Wanda. It just makes too much sense now considering the minks we got to know the best on Zou, plus she has history with both Carrot and Pedro. If he is really gone for good ( which I'm starting to believe) could add some significant drama if she ended up having to face a weremink Wanda at some point in Wano, who's revealed to be the turncoat…

harsh to call that a shitty translation…sui long and ceylon seem phonetically nearly identical (albeit not really)to each other,so they would have little difference to how they are written and what term you use is based on intuition
it's basically the same situation as shiryu being revealed to be Shiliew...phoentically identical, one is written with japanese in mind, the other with english
the problem is to identify what language oda is trying to reproduce.

it was more about the presence of that "i", but i read a wrong translation, that reported it as sui-long instead of just su-long..in this case the transalation is phonetically correct..we have to see if chinese was what oda was aiming for @BingBang:

Either way Imma dislike Predo living not because I don't appreciate the character, but because he was adamant about sacrificing for the SHs, and Oda should repay his resolve with char development for Carrot, not a last-second 180.

Would help if MS mentioned where they got Su Long from. Can't find anything on that, so I am under the impression they just made it up.
Hoping next chapter we get a panel explaining the transformation and it comes along with a scroll-like bubble with the name romanized.
How is the Mink transformation actually pronounced? It could be getting lost in translation, especially if we're getting DBZ-inspired Chinese puns being written in Japanese and translated into English.
It hasn't even been a day and I can tell I'm going to get sick of the forum's KaCarrott jokes.
Folks, that was already the joke in Dragonball. Changing Carrot's name to be like the Dragonball name isn't a new thing… it's actually the already existing joke from thirty years ago.
Stop it.

it's pronunced sulon or suron for sure since katakana is a phonetical alphabet…what might change is the romanization depending on what kind of language oda was trying to emulate..MS went with chinese.
like i said,it's a shiryu/shiliew situation..they are pronunced the same,but one was a japanese name,the other is english

Nah if fanbases of an series is good at one thing it’s running jokes into the ground.
Doesn’t help that people are serious about it.
Okay.. now Daifuku will beat up Carrot quite a bit after she immobilizes few more ships and she will run back to Sunny. Then Germa 66 should show up to help.
Bit of a hype for Daifuku would be nice as I keep my fingers crossed for him to be Sanjis 1 vs 1 enemy of this arc. Jinbe already threw a line about Daifuku being tough..
Yes he dodged them, but why take a punch even if it's not going to hurt. His stance implies they aren't going to do anything but I will dodge them with my arms folded.
I already answered this to someone else that said pretty much the same. It has nothing to do about him taking or not a punch. Yes, Katakuri has always dodged attacks but there is the key difference.
As we have seen, Katakuri uses color of observation to learn where the attacks are going to land and transform his body accordingly to dodge, very similar to what logias do. Even when Luffy was in gear fourth, a form that is much faster than his base form, Katakuri would make holes in his body to avoid each and every punch.
On the other hand, the latest interaction had him moving his entire upper body to avoid the attack, not just making holes which is his usual way of defending/dodging. So, I think that Luffy is already overcoming Katakuri's color of observation, Katakuri is just too proud to admit it and tries to act cool.
When Katakuri lost his composure and Luffy was hitting him, the way we were shown Katakuri regained it was by creating said holes, given his reaction this week, then something is already different.
Haven't posted anything in over a year, but anytime a chapter gets me to run and jump around my apartment like a madman, I feel I ought to.
The Carrot hype gland in my brain has exploded. Thank you, Oda, just…
Thank you. dies
Huh… For the first time in a long time I'm not really feeling the events of this chapter. I expected this very thing since Zou and the execution is fine, I guess I just don't care for it. Not now anyway. A lot of it comes from being selfish and like seeing the Straw Hats themselves get the glory. Chopper was just about to do something too :( but the arc is still full of enemies with a good ways to go.
And there Jimbei goes again telling the crew about the abilities of the enemy. Too experienced. Maybe people were right about him all along.
100 bucks that Chopper is going to learn that Suron form in Wano arc
Hmmm now I can get behind that!
Pretty cool transformation, I wonder how much variation we'll get between minks.
Will this be a super saiyan type deal or a bankai type deal basically?
It feels weird hoping for something to go down the bleach route in some fashion.
I am a bit curious. Assuming that Zou would become an ally for the straw hats along with the strawhat alliance going in full flow and the fishman with perhaps the giants in it too, wouldn't they be fighting extremely powerful opponents in the final war? I mean the line up is extremely strong and I didn't even mention half of the other allies of the strawhats. From the story perspective it makes sense for the opponents of the protagonists to be more powerful for dramatic purposes so I can't even imagine the kind of line up the WG is going to bring in
