@Kaido:
Not to mention that Big Mom gets Zeus back next chapter, provided Nami doesn't have something else up her sleeve.
Zeus ate her entire weather egg. She's basically out of commission if Zeus is summoned back.

Exactly, this just gets Sanji and the rest to get into the cake making.
"Let's break all this tension and make a cake" would be the worst thing that could happen imo. Unfortunately for me, it will happen.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I can't take your posts seriously. I'm not sure if you are trying to get a rise out of people or really believe all that could have fit in 3 pages. You've lost all credibility.
What postS ?
Whatever, this is just the Japanese comic book pace. This is what happens when you have a weekly schedule. I've said that multiple times (or just once, I don't know) in other parts of the forum.
These things were the only necessary things in that chapter.
-Chopper sees Aladin.
-Nami uses El Thor.
-Chopper and Brook come near the ship.
I guess I could add a panel for Pudding sees the SHs for the cliffhanger, but I doubt this was necessary.
Also, the past few chapters are feeling like a Dressrossa spinoff with the SHs running around and running around.
And yeah, a lot of people will completely disagree. This is my opinion.

Making the cake won't come easily. There'll still be plenty of tension.
Maybe, let's see how it's handled. But I'm afraid that it'll go "we interrupt this program for a MasterChef competition".
Tension won't be lost if only Sanji goes and the rest have to still run and fight.

Those necessary things you mentioned couldn't have come instantly in single panels. Good writing needs to flow smoothly - we can't just cut to the guys in the Submerge going "oh look, there's someone strange looking" and cut to someone else, because then we'd have no reason to care about that point. It's actually happened a lot in this arc (like Brook vs. Big Mom, and Luffy vs. Cracker), to more or less negative results.
Not to mention that actually giving the chase an adequate amount of focus does a lot of good - it keeps Big Mom a constant threat, whereas just skipping to wherever they end up next wouldn't do that. It gave a chance for us to see more of Big Mom's abilities, first with Napoleon and now with Prometheus. The Big Mom Pirates have entered the fray and they're not just gonna be bystanders. The Pudding-Chiffon stuff helped give Chiffon quite a bit of characterization, especially given how we haven't seen Chiffon much in this arc at all. The little things all count toward making a complete story. Also, not to mention Jinbe telling the Straw Hats about the eating disorder! If anything's absolutely vital, it's that.
The Dressrosa chase felt really long because it took over 10 chapters, and bounced around way too many times, and had a kajillion things enter the picture. This is only the second chapter of the chase, and it's remained pretty grounded in a couple of plotlines so far. With Pudding entering the picture now, the focus is sure to shift.
So Big Mom has the power of Enel and Ace at her fingertips, on top of being an indestructible haki monster with a talking sword.
Is her showing good enough now for a Yonkou?
You forgot the soul soul fruit and the power to give or take life
I must say, I hope that Brooke and Chopper don't get off-panelled by Katakuri. Would be pretty damn nice if they got a fight scene.
I hate the "Sanji baking a cake"idea. I think it's fucking stupid and it annoys me because it feels like something that could happen and it couldn't possibly be well executed.

I suppose they could at least take down Perospero. Katakuri is a lost cause though.
Obviously Big Mom was NOT knocked out by Nami's El Thor-sized lightning bolt, but incredibly enough some people think she was (not referring to people here, but those in other "cancer-inducing" places).
Won't even be surprised if she was barely fazed by the massive attack and becomes even more enraged next chapter.
Nope, fodder tier Nami stole her thundercloud and used it against her. Too weak a Yonkou.
she needs to be affected a minimum somehow since time is needed to bake the cake.
I love the "I guess mum finished them off with Zeus." comment, feels so good.

Yes, I would love to see that. The fodder shouldn't be a problem. I would also like to see some teamwork, it would be interesting to see combination attacks from a reindeer and a skeleton lol

Well I dislike it too, but its going to happen
Fun chapter with some great character moments. Barto moment was absolute gold and even Chiffon had a very nice moment here. Happily looking forward to a steady stream of chapters again.
Also looks like we are getting the first Chopper fight in the longest time. Also looking forward to the inevitable gags (is sweet-loving Chopper their natural enemy??)
This chapter tells me we're gonna definitely see Germa 66 doing something soon, they're an important asset in this arc, and if Oda is still utilizing the Sun pirates, then he's in no way gonna throw Germa 66 away for the rest of this arc.
I'm kinda both glad and bummed with the unnamed Big Mom pirates, on one hand they at least got a cool clash with Pedro and Carrot, but on the other hand they're probably knocked out after Nami's attack. They can't get up, and I'm okay with that, because if they do, that'll undersell Zeus, who's after all is still considered a part of Big Mom's arsenal, which will damage her image.
Moreover, I like how Jinbe was the voice of reason, he also provided a sense of urgency to the chapter.
btw, in one of the previous episodes of the OnePiecePodcast the discussion went over to whether or not Pudding was evil, and while they debate was valid on both sides, Greg came up with the idea of "confused Pudding", and I think it's pretty much confirmed this chapter, so congrats on that.
I wonder what Chopper saw underwater on the first page, when he said
"Look over there, what's he/they doing? Fishing?"
Could it be the Sun Pirates?
I love the "I guess mum finished them off with Zeus." comment, feels so good.
Don't that give an Alabasta vibe?
Well I dislike it too, but its going to happen
Wouldn't a newkama special recipy make the trick ?
It's basically the major knowledge he should have learnt during the TS except for fighting
I think one can imagine there exists an ultimate hunger breaker recipy in this big book.
Chiffon’s behaviour is even weird for a mum’s daughter. I wonder who she learned her sense of honor from. Her dad ?

Speaking of her dad, I wonder when they'll run back into him.
Another chapter that could have been crammed into 3pages…
The mini-story is way more interesting than the actual plot.
Agree. Oda can do best: I'm waiting for next chapter hoping that will be better than this one.
I wonder why Pedro was so shocked when that scarecrow guy talked to him, seemingly wanting to reaffirm it's indeed him… or am I just overinterpreting that specific panel? On another note, Nami definitely stole the show this chapter with that huge attack. Would be nice so see more of that in the future, amplifying her weather based attacks to cataclysmic proportions via some medium I mean. Also good to see Brook & Chopper manning up, especially Chopper for once. I think furthermore this chapter solidified BM's yonko status. Even Armament Haki doesn't do crap to her main homies, making them harder to handle than Logia Fruit users... that is scary.
Cover>whole chapter
I wonder why Pedro was so shocked when that scarecrow guy talked to him,
Soul of his former comrade stuck inside
Maybe Pedro afraid of Scarecrows.
I wonder what Chopper saw underwater on the first page, when he said
"Look over there, what's he/they doing? Fishing?"Could it be the Sun Pirates?
I dont know who else it could be.
Chopper probably saw Aladin because he said "are they fishing?" and Aladin has always been seen holding his big fork.
That cover page tho. I'm pretty sure Shanks will let Barto slide for the damage of his ship. But still, one could only imagine the kind of hell they would be in if it was any other Yonkou's ship (including Whitebeard, just because).
People need to realize that not every chapter is going to be filled to the brim with plot-moving excitement. Some chapters, like this one, are important transitions for plot points, so that the story can move more smoothly.
I have a dream that one day Sanji will redeem himself and do something bad ass. My evaluation of this arc heavily depends on if Oda executes that or not
Great chapter for part II of this chase, oda really gave the side characters time to shine and I loved that. Also we have a conflicted pudding or an "in too deep" one. Wonder how they'll get the time needed to bake this cake. MVP has got to be nami here just great attack that was the first attack to hurt a yonko. Also chopper and brook arent sell outs. Cant wait for next week
Anyone think Barto will face Rockstar?

If by bad ass you mean help bake a cake in order to appease Big Mom's raging hunger, then yes. Otherwise prepare to be disappointed.

Pretty much this.
Seeing as how Jimbe mentions her tantrum and how she won't stop unless she gets her cake, and Sanji basically says "who cares, keep running", he clearly shows no desire to bake her a cake. It would honestly also be good development for both him and Big Mom if she didn't get her cake this arc. For the first time ever, Big Mom won't just get everything she demands and will have to get over her tantrum another way, and Sanji who's been doing everything he's told by Big Mom this arc will finally take a stand and oppose her instead of giving in to her demands, first it was "get married or zeff dies" now it's "bake me a cake or your crew dies". I'd consider it another loss for his character if he bakes her the cake she wants.
Oh Luffy, don't you remember how to beat fire? Just use magma!:sideways:
zeus is so kewt, i'm a fan of nami's final powerup (in this entire series) is getting elementals w/ her soul in so she can do massive attacks like these.
and Sanji who's been doing everything he's told by Big Mom this arc will finally take a stand and oppose her instead of giving in to her demands
He agreed to take part in her murder and undid years of preparation for taking over Germa. What are you talking about? SHs goal isn't to help her improve her mental health and grow up. It's surviving. Be it by escaping, baking a cake or whatever.
I like how Sanji looks so strong against those trees:ninja: if only he was that strong against the other officers or was shown to be able to hold his ground against them.
See that panel ? http://img.readms.net/cdn/manga/51/4493/04.png
This is Sanji redeeming himself.
Megaman is setting himself up for disappointment like always.

What? He replied "who cares, keep running" to Luffy and Carrot who were commenting how that wedding cake was delicious.

I'd like to see Sanji keep up that opinion once Pudding, the person whose third eye he complimented as being beautiful (after lying, shooting his sister, making fun of his injuries, and trying to get his family and crewmates killed), begs him to help make a cake for Big Mom to save everybody's lives.
And people don't just "get over" an eating disorder. Jimbei even specified that Big Mom is barely conscious in that state. So as terrible a person as she is, she can't be faulted for how she acts when this illness occurs. Your argument would only be applicable if this was a sane Big Mom with self-control who is demanding a cake.
@Kaido:

Of course not, the Pudding cliffhanger could have though.
Good writing needs to flow smoothly
yeah, maybe not 3pages– but 6.

We don't need to show up she's a "constant threat", we already had a tons of chapter doing so, and her not being able to catch the SHs because of her fat-ass isn't making her a threat at all. Remember this ? http://readms.net/r/one_piece/874/4476/6
Well, she didn't do a thing since then. It was 2/3chapters ago.
Jinbei telling the SHs the disorder thing and Chiffon making a speech are exactly the kind of things that could have been skipped.
Also, there is a magical forest ?
Sanji: I'll fly off and tell you which direction take.
This should have happened.
And for some reason a yonkou can't run fast enough to catch the SHs…. uh
This is only the second chapter of the chase, and it's remained pretty grounded in a couple of plotlines so far. With Pudding entering the picture now, the focus is sure to shift.
yeah but they've been trying to escape for 5chapters
And for some reason a yonkou can't run fast enough to catch the SHs…. uh
Why does a Yonko need to run fast? The only one I can think that can run at a considerably speed is Shanks.
He agreed to take part in her murder and undid years of preparation for taking over Germa. What are you talking about? SHs goal isn't to help her improve her mental health and grow up. It's surviving. Be it by escaping, baking a cake or whatever.
He only did so after she betrayed him. For 40 chapters it was him going along with her wedding plan, if she didn't betray him, Sanji would have went along with the wedding just as she wanted. Also, it's just bad development for Sanji.
50 chapters ago it was:
Big Mom: Get married or Zeff dies.
Sanji: Ok.
Now, 50 chapters later it is going to be:
Big Mom: Make me a cake or your crew dies.
Sanji:Ok
Nothing's changed, it's just him giving in to her demands again.

What? He replied "who cares, keep running" to Luffy and Carrot who were commenting how that wedding cake was delicious.
Jimbe told him the full details of her condition, and how she can't be cured without cake. Sanji shows no interest in baking said cake and continues the plan of just running away and leaving her in that condition.

Megaman is setting himself up for disappointment like always.
I'm not going to agree with the stupid cake idea, when there are so many better options. It's not like baking a cake will save them anyways, once she regains control she will want to kill them.
Why does a Yonko need to run fast? The only one I can think that can run at a considerably speed is Shanks.
Run fast/be fast, whatever.
Oda hyped us 3chapters ago with the blow Linlin gave with her sword, but since then she's been whining and yelling a hundred yards away of the SHs.
Lilin: see that sword ? look well, because I'm not gonna use it anymore lol.
Jimbe told him the full details of her condition, and how she can't be cured without cake. Sanji shows no interest in baking said cake and continues the plan of just running away and leaving her in that condition.
Yeah, he is supposed to be all like "I'm gonna bake a cake out of nowhere without having any of the required ingredients" while Big Mom is chasing after them wanting to kill them. He is a cook, not a wizard lol.
