One Piece and Dragon Ball TV Specials this Fall
-
A four episode storyline would be better than two for a crossover, but the lack of a 'x' makes me wonder if it's just two unrelated specials or just two episodes airing together?
-
Yeah I was about to ask, Crossover or two separate short (1hour) specials??
-
Another Crossover would be neat. Not including the Toriko characters this time would allow for them to focus more on DBZ characters interacting with just One Piece characters.
-
It says that there's only one key visual for it and they wouldn't take a week off both series for specials that werent crossovers, that would just be known as filler. Replies have said that the translation hints that it'll take the two series' timeslots for one week so it'll be like the previous ones
-
While I like the idea of crossovers, I have no hope for one to be handled correctly. A crossover should highlight the differences in personalities between characters and use that as the conflict. The crossovers up until now have completely ignored those and made all of the characters generic heroes.
-
Now we just lost more animators to even more specials.
Greeeeeaaat. -_- -
Not if it's just one story told across two separate episodes each week like the old Toriko crossover specials were. If anything it means that we'd see different names pop up than usual.
Man, remember when Toei tried to push Toriko as the Next Big Thing on the same scale as One Piece and Dragon Ball? Good times.
-
Yeah could be just as forgettable as Battle Stadium D.O.N.
-
If it does take two slots of airtime, atleast we'll be gaining some distance from the manga.
-
I want Beerus to appear in One Piece now.
-
One thing of note is that this will probably the the first crossover with the Super cast & crew. Also, a crossover at least makes sense with Super now that multiple universes are shown as extant. Sure, it would not be canon obviously but at least it can now have a believable set-up
-
I want them to use the concept of cross epoch manga, like Robin being Vegeta's pirate crew.
-
If this is indeed a crossover, I at least hope it will be simulcasted on Crunchyroll. They already have both Dragonball Super and One Piece, so nothing should stop them this time.

Speaking of which, if these are crossovers, I hope that means we can get that damned crossover special from 2013 on Crunchyroll now, too.
-
ONE PIECE Episode scheduled on October 1 2017 for 1 hour.
-
The translation mentions that a "collaboration preview" will be on the One Piece website so it is definitely a crossover. There wouldn't be a key visual if they were both separate specials and with One Piece having a full on 2 hour special in a few days, it wouldn't make any sense to break off even more of the crew for a 1 hour special that wouldn't be connected to Super and there's no way in hell that Fuji TV wouldn't have it be a crossover
-
Eeeee crossover between just One Piece and Dragon ball, just what I've wanted in years, one between those two only, nothing involving that other series that has now gone no where ( Wasn't it canceled matter of fact)
Man am I excited, hopefully we get some good interactions between the character :)
In that drawing Luffy looks almost as tall as Goku LOL.
-
I hope Luffy hates Gokuu. It's the only logical outcome for when their personalities meet.

Wow, surprised they're teasing that episode already!
EDIT: I just realized that these specials are just 2 episodes of One Piece and DBS back to back each week, hopefully that means there is more content and less recap.
-
Huh, so that's what these two "specials" are. Last time they did that was Robin's flashback, I believe.
-
So we'll have two episodes at the end of next month then
Sweet
-
**We will get tow episode of One Piece anime ( 807 and 808 ) in October 1st 2017.
Notice: Anime One Piece on Break on sep 10th.**
-
So it's not a crossover? What a deceiving poster lol
-
So are these just longer regular episodes and not side stories? Cos thats what i want
-
I think it's no coincidence that each show will be at their potential climax during these double-bills.
-

Yeah that seems to be the case, they used to do it pretty often when the anime had it's previous timeslot

Seems like Masayuki Sato is on the special
-
I also think crossover should highlight the differences in personalities between characters and use that as the conflict…When we'd see different names pop up than usual?

It's not a crossover, it's a double episode.

Hold the phone, are they seriously comparing this to the feud between Nobunaga and Akechi, Caesar and Brutus, and Jesus being betrayed by Judas??!! What the fuck?!

Yeah…. I get that One Piece is big in Japan and stuff, but it's still a cartoon, this was cringey as hell.
-
Well, they're really hyping one of the worst and most forced scenes in the franchise, aren't they?
! Just an opinion obviously.
! But a correct one nonetheless. -
Yeah those comparisons are a bit out there.

Sanji doesn't even hang himself after this

! But a correct one nonetheless. It being forced is kind of the point. But of course it'll be hyped up regardless.
-
I just have no idea how the producers thought this would be a good idea. This one of the most "fan made" promotional pieces I've ever seen.
-

Boy, it's gonna be awkward in a year when it's all smiles and laughter on the Sunny again.
-
@Kaido:
Sanji doesn't even hang himself after this.
At least his motive is a little better than thirty pieces of silver. A little.
I mean, jeez. It's not like he's literally feeding Luffy to Big Mom.
-
I think overblowing the event, and placing it with serious historic events might be part of the charm of the trailer.
They for sure know that at the end of the day it's just an animated show, but the trailer makes it seem like a huge thing that will be put in history books later, whichi is kinda both funny and hype inducing. -
Do they think Jesus vs Judas was a feud too? I mean, Japan isn't exactly a Christian country, lol. But that's hilarious.
Anyway, starting that Sunday tv Asahi is moving their Super Hero Time block to the same timeslot. Maybe that's the true reason behind Fuji pushing for these specials.
-
This made me think. If Oda never showed us Sanji's portion of the arc's first half and the first time we see him was this event
! obviously without crying at the end
how many people would fall for Sanji being a traitor? Intuitive answer is zero, but given that in Bleach there were people who believed in! Ishida's betrayal in TYBW arc
and how many fans fall for each "death" in the story, the actual number could be quite surprising. -
Hold the phone, are they seriously comparing this to the feud between Nobunaga and Akechi, Caesar and Brutus, and Jesus being betrayed by Judas??!! What the fuck?!
Why is Nobunaga and Akechi's relation a "feud" and not a betrayal too?
All of those relations were family* betrayals, it fits the theme of the arc even if the reasons and consequences of each one are interely different stories.
Any of the examples is an overkill if you go by "reasons for and consequences" instead of theme.*family as defined by OP, it's not about the dna, it's about bonds made
-
I didn't care about semantics, but basically I used "feud" because the straw that broke the camel's back for Akechi was allegedly a string of insults.
