Greg do you think that Oda has any decent plan for awakening ? Or will he just showcase it whenever, like he does with CoO ?Seems weird that being in a Yonko territory,we haven't even seen one character using it.

Lamb and Goat are very different animals tho, in what they represent. Specially in Christianity.
The goat also has it's meaning on christianity?? D: i didn't know that… by any chance are those masses to be driven into a secure place? xD

Greg made a video!
[hide]
If I was a gorousei, I'd be like:"Greg is like Ohara: he knows too much!" XD
But seriously, for me the most interesting part was the weapon store where Oda (& co) has been inspired and of course Ray's and Robin's bounty poster in Nami's flashback-background. I have to look this up again.
Great video, man! And your voice sounds good as well. -
Greg clear out your PMs so I can send a message.
-
Great video, Greg. It was pretty interesting!
-
Thanks! Had a ton of fun making it! Working on next vid now!

I'm listening to the last podcast episode and i wanted to see what your thoughts are on the connection between Fishman Island's "Eve tree" which provides Fishman Island light, the Adam Wood Tree, and Elbaf's "World Tree".
If Elbaf is indeed related to Adam wood, i think it'd more than coincidental that Big Mom has connections to both islands woth the Adam and Eve tree's.
At the very least, i've theorized that if Luffy doesn't indeed destroy Fishman Island, he'll do it by destroying the tree pretty much foring Fishmen and Mermen to need to learn to live with the rest of the world. But i'm curious of your thoughts on these trees and the roles they'll play, Greg. I do like what you spoke of Blackbeard just strolling in and destroying the World tree.

Another awesome video.

Greg, master of boggle eyes.

Greg i salute you to such great videos, really enjoyed them.
I like that you shoot your videos in front of your desk, reminds me somehow of Oda´s office desk, which is a nice touch. (even when your´s ain´t nearly as messy^^)
The Anpanman-ladybug was a great fact, always had this in my mind as a mystery that wouldn´t be figured out…wonder who was able to spot that. -

That's the reason you haven't heard about some of this stuff.
1. I've only tweeted it in Japanese
Or
2. I discovered it but didn't tell anyone until that vid.
New column is up.
Pretty short because a large chunk of it got cut last minute.
-
Seems like you are getting heavily censored by Shueisha.Last couple of columns are more of descriptive kind rather than informative….

Thanks a bunch for the videos, Greg. Entertaining and enlightening, please keep them coming! I'd be especially eager to hear more about those behind-the-scene sneaky winks Oda and his assistants sprinkle throughout the manga.

Was it cut because you are spot on with some predictions or other reasons?

@uniaka:
Was it cut because you are spot on with some predictions or other reasons?
Looking at the spoiler thread I guess it's a mixture of being spot on as well as being a moot point after the new chapter is out.
I'm really hyped for the chapter now!!!
-

I wouldn't say heavily. And it's not like I'm angry, not in the least.
So, as for the animation, that's super hard to be informative about unless something really interesting is happening. I'm trying to distinguish anime-only material and make it stand out because anime-only fans usually just don't know what's original or otherwise. A visit to a wiki could alleviate that, but the point is to have an official source for that material and there aren't such detailed accounts readily available in Japanese so it is catering to the home crowd a good deal.
As action chaps in the manga are also REALLY hard ^o^ Just as ARTEMIS suggests, there are bits and pieces that are cut because, by the time the column is released, they'll be moot points.
There are many times where I self-censor myself because I don't want to write three paragraphs to justify a prediction, only to have it shot down in the next chap and have to go back to square one ^o^ Writing about the end of Dressrosa was HELL. Not because it was poor material, I just realized how difficult it was to write about what could be coming down the line with everything moving so much from week to week.
Either way, your observation is totally valid. Sadly, them's the breaks. It's particularly close during times like right now where my columns are coming out alongside the chaps in JUMP. I used to be about 3-4 chaps behind.
Anyway, not complaining! Very grateful to be involved in the process!

As I was mentioning in the chapter thread but figure I would elaborate on here:
Also what stops Mama from wanting to keep Sanji, if he is a better cook than what she already has. Maybe this prompts them to escape again, to which the Big Mom pirates intervene to help them escape alluding to what Luffy said on Zou.
This could be chalked up to Stresseun's inadequacy as a chef, but he did mention that baking another cake is out of the question. I imagine because of the ingredients needed. Like flour, where the Big Mom pirates had to invade another island to get them. The cake being of such magnitude, I doubt there are any leftovers. Unless we see another sibling having a flour fruit, or they use mochi as their base?
So instead of the cake, wouldn't Semla be a better alternative for them to make? Now that the castle has been destroyed, in addition to Mother Carmel's photo being destroyed, would it not be in line to have her rage about what got her exiled? A regression of sorts. The reason is because I am trying to figure out how would these events make Pudding go through Streussen's memories, at least for the cake part. While maybe, if it is Semla there is kinda of a reason. Like her asking for Semla, and no one knowing what she is talking about but the head chef.
And would this development force Big Mom to forsake Germa's technology?
-
Greg what do you think about Big Mom's Haki having a similar design to G4 ?
-
I'm not exactly sure what episodes the VA group shot might be relevant for, but Kappei Yamaguchi does voice Randolph.
-
Love that comment about the explosion.
Just the same thing that i had in mind, as an argument against the bomb bringing down the chateau -
I don't know if this has been brought up before (but surely someone else must have thought about it), but I got to ask, since this basically is the pinnacle of theory threads:
We more or less got a lot indicating Kaidou is a dragon zoan, BUT! What if he in fact is a dragon who ate some model of a Human-fruit? I feel that could be one of the explanations for how people refer to him as. Naturally, the reason could be figuratively rather than literally in the way I suggested here. It would be a bit if a twist, if this was the case, and perhaps too meh for the sake of being a twist.
But! If it was a Human-fruit: what model could he possibly be?
-

Assuming he is a dragon using a human human fruit, I'd wager we'd find out the truth of extremely large humans through its model name. I do like the theory, though him being a dragon doesn't seem to necessitate him being called a thing. Maybe he's something even more mythical and rare, like an ogre. Or maybe I'm looking too much into this.
-
Ogre
Oars-race to complete the paralels with thriller bark (Moria vs Kaidoh, Moria using oars and ryuma)
Drunkard
Another hero/mythic person like Buddah, or a Buddah, sengoku's fruit isn't clear on that (was it even named on page?), like Bandit, King, Hero, Warrior, Conqueror, or even the Hito Hito fruit, Model pirate.
It could also relate to his aparent inmortality, as every living thing can die, I'm inclined to belive that true inmortality (inmunity to lethal damage and aging) is only possible through a supernatural mean.Or he's a lobster human, or a jellyfish human, or a water bear human, another inmortal creature, and the dragon was a missinterpretation or some costume choices.
-

This is possible. But we have to keep in mind that Kaido bears some rather strong likeness to Oars and Oars Jr due to having similar horns, size, and giving Moria a reason to think that Oars would be such an asset to him in getting revenge. So having a Devil Fruit dedicated to giant Oni Giants are weird. Not that there can't be Zoan Devil Fruits dedicated to in-world races in One Piece like Giants and Dwarves, but we haven't seen that yet.
-
Heck. He could be an ancient weapon (or some sort) bonded with a devil fruit. (Not really, way too many holes involving vegapunk, his timeline, and a bunch of other things, but it's fun)
-
No ancient weapon, there hasn't been any mention of "the power to destroy the world", consistent thing with Pluton, Shirahoshi's powers latter revealed to be Poseidon, and Whitebeard's fruit.
Huh…
-
Just a thought. Like I said, there are a thousand other holes with watched wouldn't be an ancient weapon. I was just thinking of ways to spice up him as a thing, but it honestly makes no sense.
-
I do agree that Kaidou is large, I just don't trust Oda's way of depicting size (as he likes to exaggerate from time to time). Have we, by any chance, had some confirmation of his true size yet?
-
Larger than kid, smaller than a castle. Or an island. Probably than a giant.
-
I always thought Kaido was as tall as Oars Jr, but not as big as Oars. Somewhere in the middle.
-
Both oars are "2.5 giants tall"
-
Regarding Kaido's size, I would say the closest we have to hard evidence is this Kaido-shaped hole in the ground. No tricky perspective there and a good sense of scale provided by the surrounding crew members.
All in all I'd say he is your typical One Piece Badass scale. Towers over nearby humans, but nowhere as tall as a giant and certainly smaller than Oars (+ Jr), both of whom were large enough to hold a warship in their hands. Then again, Oda and scale have had a turbulent relation over the years, so until he plain writes down the man's actual size I would take my own advice with a grain of salt.
-
But Kaidoh has been consistently "Whitebeard-kuma-moria-Magellan" sized.
Big mom holds less than 2metters people like dolls, Whitebeard like children.
-
Kaido makes the 256cm Apoo look like an ant though.
-
So if he had a Human-fruit, it would probably not be related to size, though his horns does raise some questions…
All we know about Human fruits is that there are a regular one (Chopper's) and a Buddha model (Sengoku). The latter is our only clue to what other models could be; could there be a Jesus fruit which enables people to walk on water; a Moses one to split the sea; a Mohammed one to cause controversy? Probably not, but what other things would be in the same category as Buddha?
-
Just a little correction that Sengoku's devil fruit is not "Buddha model", it's "Daibutsu model", which is a Buddha statue, not literally the man/deity/whatever he is himself.
-

I see! Thank you! I knew I was probably missing something.
-
@Joy:
Kaido makes the 256cm Apoo look like an ant though.
Like an ant means that his palm is the size of the sunny's deck. I don't see that.
-
Kaido's hand for scale. Oda might be inconsistent with heights a little and make characters look bigger for dramatic effect, but Kaido is nowhere near being an actual giant.
-
Damn, I didn't remember Kaido's hands being that small.
That kind of settles it then. Although it makes sense. Why hype up Big Mom being, well, Big Mom is one of the other Yonko is going to be about as big.
Kaido's still going to be related to whatever giant race Oars ad Oars Jr. is though. It couldn't be clearer.
-
@Count:

Based on the horns and, relative to regular humans, large size?
-
Based on the horns and, relative to regular humans, large size?
Of course. That, and Moria thinking that Oars would somehow be enough to get revenge against Kaido. It explains why Moria was obsessed with awakening Oars and why he immediately became fascinated with Oars Jr. in Marineford. And there was also that glimpse of Oars Jr. being happy that Ace got him a straw hat from Wano Country.
All the pieces are already there. Kaido is different in certain ways like smaller size, skin color, and lack of sharp teeth, but I bet that's because he's a hybrid or something.
And there's this weird warning sign in Punk Hazard:
!
-
Good points.
Guess we need to get some more clues first before we can truly make a reasonable guess as to what that connection could be between Kaidou and Oars sr & jr. Afterall, one could probably think about a lot of different things, e.g. Are the horns genetic, meaning they are related? How does it actually work with giants? How is Saul a giant with D in his name? You get the idea :D
Or maybe someone can actually come up with some coherent which has a lot of support on the matter, unlike myself.
And ofc, it could be some sort of fruit as well. Kaidou is so close now, yet so far away…
-
Twitter is buzzing, Greg has some "Big news!" for tomorrow (or saturday morning?) about the aniversary. Him being the speaker on an official event for one piece.
Too early for movie, color walk or databook, the logs are comming out right now, and the videogames info just started flowing, he's more related to the manga side of things, but that doesn't discount an anime thing completely.
The way that he's teased, both english and japanesse, it points me to something global, so it's unlikely that it will be another restaurant, museum or theatre play.
I'm going to put my money in project dawn, and anti-vote (as in do not want) live action movie.
Other than that:
Another Greg-book like the questions one wouldn't be news in such an event.
I guess spinoff novels/manga for discarded arcs, like Strong World, Z and Gold felt, deeper than the effort made for the older movies or the games, but not enough for the manga itsef. I think these should be still released slowly and carefully.
A global contest, for drawings or sbs questions. -
Oda did clarify in an SBS that the specific breed of giants that Oars belongs to comes from a different island than Elbaf. So that makes the horns being genetic likely since it comes from a specific breed/place.
As for Saul, that is an interesting question. But lots of races intermingle over the centuries, so I doubt it's anything too complex to fathom as to why.
