This is a very interesting overview of certain African Religion/Myths.

One must be pretty confident in ones ability to get away with it to make such a public attack.
Blackmailing private citizens is one thing, but doing so against entire governments seem pretty brazen.
Ah, that's what happened?
I saw posts on Twitter about the NHS being attacked. Now there's blame being thrown back and forth in the replies about cyber defence.
The most interesting thing i find in the French election is that almost a quarter of the votes are said to have been blank, ewhich would really make the 65% voting figure not that significant.Because it means that a large portion of people would rather vote for no one between them.
His legitimacy wouldn't change much though. Every president in France's fifth republic have always been elected with less than 50% of the electors, except Chirac in 2002 against Lepen (father).
Only 44% of the people have voted for him in the end
https://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/260650Capturedcran20170513165423.png
There are more people who chose neither than people who voted Lepen.
Anyway, Lepen has lost a lot of credibility during the debate with Macron, she looked like a whining little kid –--and eventually also like an alcoholic. I don't know if there are any subtitled videos about the debate on internet, I'd advise you to try to find some. It gives an insight to what far-right really is.
Reason why Lepen reached 25% is because she has been softening her party (to look liberal) since 2011. Making it look feminist (with her as the president), not-racist and so long. Also eventually with taking an homosexual as the vice-president of the party (Philippot) then making the party look not-homophobic.
And for people saying "her father doesn't like her, so she must be nice". They simply all hate each other in the family and this isn't fresh news. Wether it is Jean-Marie, Marine or Marion (Marine's nephew who's been raised by her). Lepen being elected doesn't mean "just the end of the EU" but her and Puttin sharing western Europe. Also, genocide of course (no one is mentioning it, seems foreigners only care about their economical interests through the UE).
Wait, how do you jump from "leaving the UE" to "Genocide"?
The new (liberal) Korean president wants to "talk with the North". I don't know much about South-Korea's recent history but I don't think the crazy boy knows what talking means. He probably has no choice though.
Wait, how do you jump from "leaving the UE" to "Genocide"?
I don't. In that that I ain't saying Frexit = Genocide. But what comes with Lepen and her party is a future genocide. (eventually not D-day of her election but soon enough)
The FrontNatonal is known to have very deep ties with neo-nazis (and actual former-nazis) ever since his creation. What do you expect them to do ? Just leave the UE ?
Anyway, I didn't mean "people who want to go out of the Union will commit genocides" but Lepen would. But if you meant that I'm being excessive or what, then you're deluding yourself thinking "something that bad cannot happen somehow".
Doesn't really matter anymore though (at least for the next 5years), next presidential elections will take place in 2022.
Question for clarity: when you say UE are you referring to the European Union and putting the initials the other way around for a particular reason? Or after you referring to something else entirely? I'm assuming you mean the European Union, but "UE" is showing up too often to be a typo.

Mass expulsion seems likelier than a genocide.
Or y'know repatriation or whatever the "nice" nationalist word for it is

Union européenne
Union européenne
So the French(?) version of the name? Thought it might be something like that.

In French, UE -> "Union Européenne". When I'm writing too fast, I might say "UE" instead of "EU" without noticing.

Mass expulsion would just be the first step. Discriminatory laws are coming right after, and then, what happens to those who don't leave ? I mean, the legal immigrants. What about them ? You think she's okay with them ? She'd revoke their French nationality first, then there are many ways to get it rid of them. She doesn't need zyklon B, we've made something more powerful since then called the atomic bomb. But biological weapons are great too, they don't make any sound. She'd probably make all that in French Guiana so that no one in France notices the mass murder. Anyway, saying neo-nazis and their sympathizers would make a genocide isn't exaggerated at all.
She's got many ways to do what she wants. And she doesn't need to wait a few years unlike the nazis who had to build an army. France already has one and 50% of the military (and cops) are voting for her. But I'm just gonna stop there, the thread isn't called "what if the far-right wingers are getting elected in Europe ?" after all.
Anyway, the day of his election Macron promised that he would do his best to never let the FN have such high scores again. Also, I liked how he was a sassy boy there https://www.facebook.com/EnMarche/videos/1913100868922490/ I've been nervous for months to think she'd be president. Now I need a few weeks to destress. I'll probably only feel better after the legislatives. But I'm still edgy af.
Spain seems to be vaccinated against the far-right. Their memories about Franco are still too fresh. The rest of Europe are behaving like fucking amnesiacs.

Serious Question: How likely would all that actually have been had LePen won the election? We have fears along similar lines, in theme if not scale, with the Trump administration in the US, but the worst of his antics have been stopped by the courts and infighting amongst his own political party. And that's with Trump and the Republican party holding majorities in all three branches of our government. I'd assume the French government has similar apparatuses and party issues to prevent a would be tyrant from doing whatever she wants like that describes.

Dunno, how big are the odds that Trump is building chemical weapons in Alaska and planning to launch them into the heavily populated urban centers to get rid of the Mexicans? Cause a shot from the hip would say that it's less likely than that. I mean she could've done a lot of shit, just not genocide via nukes or mustard gas or whatever was in the talks here.

ebrahim raisi is the candidate supported by supreme leader he is very conservative
These kind of candidates are highly supported by poor people because they act like they are poor as well
There is also ghalibaf mayor of Tehran that is a another conservative
Presidental election takes to second round If nobody gets more than 50 % of votes

But the US has very strong counter powers. It's not the first time a far right winger gets to the White House. And the difference between Drump and Lepen is that he is retarded af. He doesn't even know why he's president to be honest. The US has been switching from crazy-president to not-that-crazy for decades. Also, he still has time to do crazy stuff.
LePen just needs to change the voting procedure. This is what happened in 2015 during the regional elections
first round
http://www.cartesfrance.fr/cartes/geographie/carte-elections-regionales-2015-premier-tour.jpg
As you can see they didn't get any regions in the end because people allied against them in the second round. She'd just need to delete the second round, dissolve the Parlement and call for new elections.
And another difference with the US is that LePen has her own party in which everyone is behind her. No one will fight her in her party.
If Macron ended up first at the first round it's because:
-He made an alliance with the MoDem (centrist party that ended up with 9% in 2012)
-Fillon (candidate of the right-wing party "Les Républicains") has been indicted because he's corrupted af, which lead part of his electorate to vote for Macron
-Part of the usual electorate of the SocialistParty thought it was a good idea to vote for Macron so that we don't get a "Fillon v. LePen" in the second round
Anyway, Macron (his party and the MoDem) is leading in the polls for the legislatives. He needs more alliances if he wants to rule though

My question isn't what she would do or have to do. I was wondering if LePen even could do any of it in the first place. Does a French prime minister have so much power they can just decide "Screw the Rules, I Make Them"? You make it sound like, had LePen won the election, not only would she go full dictator, but she could do it and nobody and nothing would be able to stop her.
I admit I don't know much about how the French government works, but I'd think the very fact leaders are chosen by popular vote means said leaders don't get Absolute Power to corrupt them absolutely.

I guess you mean president and not prime minister.
And okay, by the time she passes her new law to change the voting procedure she can use the 16th article of the Constitution.
! When the institutions of the Republic, the independence of the nation, the integrity of its territory, or the fulfillment of its international commitments are under grave and immediate threat and when the proper functioning of the constitutional governmental authorities is interrupted, the President of the Republic shall take the measures demanded by these circumstances after official consultation with the Prime Minister, the presidents of the Assemblies, and the Constitutional Council.
He shall inform the nation of these measures by a message.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States_of_emergency_in_France
"independence of the nation" -> could say it's not because in the EU
"the integrity of its territory" -> it's not because of Schengen
And, don't expect her to do everything legally.

My apologies, got my offices mixed up there.

And, don't expect her to do everything legally. I'm hardly expecting everything to be legal and above board, though I'm sure the appearance of legality would come up. I was mostly wondering how she'd get away with something like you've described. Sounds like you'd expect her to pull a Palpatine and use some manufactured crisis as a power grab.
Sounds like you'd expect her to pull a Palpatine and use some manufactured crisis as a power grab.
Yes this is exactly what I'd expect her to do. Eventually with Putin helping since he'd never let her fall. And why not Trup too ? Every far-righty leaders in history have turned their country into a despotic power. Only exception being Orban (if I'm not forgetting something), and that's because the EU is preventing him to do so as much as they can. But France is a powerful country, it's not Hongria.
Manufacturing an attack by providing the weapons and manipulating some idiots (actual people thinking about doing attacks, just gotta incite them) would do too. This really isn't far-fetched to say far-righties are going illegal and making conspiracies, this is just what they do and what they've always done. But the 16th article of the Constitution is regularly being criticized by many journalists and jurists. I mean that I'm not just inventing this threat now. This is something often discussed. I don't know exactly how she could activate it but it seems that the clauses (according to some media) "independence of the nation"and "the integrity of its territory" are already fulfilled. She could argue that "terrorists are coming into our country from Belgium, Germany or Italy and there is nothing we can do about it but wait another attack and this is all because of the EU, also we can't prevent Monsanto from selling their shit because of the European Commission which means we're not an independent country". I'm not even certain she'd need to make a conspiracy actually. Fake news would be enough.
It seems people are thinking she (and the other crazy ones in Europe) just want to chill out of the EU and nothing else because genocide isn't written in their program.

And what do you believe Rouhani's chances are? From what I read he needs the election to get a high turnout of voters and he'll most likely win but if there's a low turnout he'll probably be screwed.
Any lack of enthusiasm for voting happening in your country right now?
So, there's a disturbing trend on my social network friends, of doxing chavistas and chavista's families outside venezuela. This revenge porn that they are spreading is not healthy, and I don't see this witchhunt being productive.

the thing is many people who are not conservative take voting as accepting the government or say their votes won't matter which are doing huge mistake
Ah yes, the 'my vote doesn't matter' disease. Seems to be a shared problem.
Came across a no-voter guy in my JURY DUTY of all places. All of us sitting in a room waiting to be called/chosen and this guy starts talking about why votes are useless. One lady trying to get some sense in him while the rest of us eyeballing him on the sly because we can't believe what we're fucking hearing in a courthouse.
Admittedly, I'm guilty of the "my votes doesn't matter" thinking. I know full well it's dumb. But it has been the same ruling party for the past 5 decades in my country & they have tons of tactic to rig the poll. Even my parents are like "I know my votes doesn't matter but I'm just doing it as a citizen duty".
The election in my country is coming up & I'm not voting in it because I missed the registration deadline. Even if I did register , I don't think I will either.

What country, because the guy who sparked this conversation is from somewhere with almost definitely less actual democracy. But is still (smartly) realizing there is space for vote mattering even then.
In Texas, my vote hasn't mattered since I've been of voting age, because the size of the population means it swings Republican by somewhere between 1 and 1.5 million votes. The cities go Democrat, but the wide swath of boonies goes red so the whole state looks blood red.
Nevermind the 3.9 million democrat votes that are more than some entire other states combined, the electoral college means they ammout to squat.
But I still vote, so I have the right to complain if nothing else, and try to push on smaller issues than presidential elections.
BUT. Texas is slowly going purple as the cities get bigger and republicans get crazier. By next election it won't be there, but by 2024 it might just be competitive. POSSIBLY even 2020 depending on the candidates but…

Talking about Texas, the –eventually, french but not only-- media were so arrogant before the election, they even thought Texas might turn blue.
https://www.mediapart.fr/journal/international/271016/le-coup-de-blues-du-texas-rouge
first lines are saying
! It is one of the favourite narratives of the democrats, especially those of the East coast: soon, Texas will become again "blue" (the color associated with their party). If the republicans tended to laugh at their optimism, they can begin from now on to worry seriously.
I cringed so much after the election –when I recalled this article-- that when I met the executive editor of this paper (during the projection of Costa Gavras's movies, Costa was there too) I called Mediapart (name of the paper) "irresponsible". I know it might "sound" a bit lame, but at least I felt better after yelling at a media they've been arrogant af for months. Someone should say the same thing to SNL that went "I believe we can already call her president Hillary Clinton" for months.
Texas will never be super-blue. But a purple would be nice.

Malaysia I believe. That said, our last election's results came pretty close to finally shifting the power to another party despite the shenanigans, so I'm still pretty hopeful that it's possible to overwhelm the current ruling party if enough people vote.

Some news about the EU
"Change of European tone towards Warsaw and Budapest"
Hungary
! On Wednesday, May 17th, the members of the European Parliament voted with a short majority for a resolution recommending the activation, towards Hungary, in respect of article 7 of the treaty of the European Union. This procedure was still never activated, for a very good reason: if it goes to its term, it can mean depriving a State of its voting rights within the Union.
http://abonnes.lemonde.fr/europe/article/2017/05/17/changement-de-ton-europeen-a-l-egard-de-varsovie-et-de-budapest_5129395_3214.html (french paper)
As for Poland, there is nothing but just speculation and debate for the moment.
! Only the Czech Republic and Hungary brought a careful support for Poland, suggesting that the dialogue with them should continue "in a bilateral way". The British strangely joined to it. " They favor their interest within the framework of the future negotiation of Brexit at the expense of the democracy ", said a Brussels diplomat on Tuesday.
What Macron had said during his campaign about Poland.
! " Within three months which will follow my election, there will be a decision taken on Poland. I put my responsibility on the table on this subject. We cannot have a country which plays fiscal and social gaps within the European Union and which is in breach with all the principles of the Union. "

Reading the article it seems quite obvious he was, but I guess they can't just say he is. Anyway, Erdogan is a savage. It seems they had first asked the cops to stop the protest which they obviously refused so Erdogan sent his goons down the street and waited his signal.

Why does it seem like Theresa May decided to turn into a creepy authoritarian tinged populist only like months after gaining power. Like I keep saying "Well Brexit aside, at least the Brits have just garden variety conservatives in power right now and not Farage or something.". And then May seems to be trying to prove me wrong.
When your opposition is dead, you can get away with a lot.
wtf is that. I knew she was doing not-very-nice-things to negotiate the Brexit but what is that? is that the higher step of CCTV? Corbyn must wake the fuck up and start moving his ass.
Corbyn seems like an immense ineffectual.
Is the UK as depressing right now for a left wing person as it seems it is. Because it really seems miserable. Unless you're a very hopeful Scot I guess.
In general it seems that Labour always has a tough hill to climb to win elections (they've governed for 30 out of the past 72 years and half of that are the New Labour years that the current left has burned at the stake) because of the continued belief that despite having their hearts in the right place, nobody trusts them to take good care of the treasury. That only seems to have gotten worse with the continued grip of the Murdoch media empire and the added caveat that they're as bad with immigration as they are with money.
(Of course I live in a country that's had only one left wing government in its entire parliamentary history so)
