Jump is on a break this week.
To be fair, im saluting Komamura's fate and i think its not bad story about him. Being angered because his loyalty to Yamamoto, then went all out sacrificed his life (as shinigami) coz he wont lose anymore coz that will be hurt his pride again. Not a waste death. Still Shiniwolfgami is an akward piece here.
Yeah, I suppose Komamura's character arc reached some type of…conclusion?, but I do wonder what happened to his form. Did he die, was he released, or is he the 7th's pet/mascot now?
Although he reminds me why the "Bankai can't be fixed if it is broken" plotpoint was so ridiculous. Mayuri claims it was an exception because of the nature of his zan (damage taken is dealt back to him), but it's not like Komamura even chose that power! Then Mayuri himself skates by because of "modification".
Meanwhile, alas for Ikkaku. Never shows it again, doesn't get stronger, hell does he know that it's weakened?

! A look of Captain's room of 7th division
!
About Ikakku…. well, maybe he learned that shikai was actually more powerful than a bankai (byakuya might told him this. Lmao)... so why bother use bankai anymore? XD
It must be like this :
Ikakku : Dude, ive heard that you defeated that fearsome which can you hear his fear here, its true?
Byakuya : ..... yes.. i beat him up, he was so afraid of me, his fear, too weak for me after my pull ass shikai power up... so i left him to Rukia to finish him up with her strong bankai... she gotten stronger you know?
Ikakku : hold on... maybe i misshear you now.... you did say you defeat him who ztole ur bankai with just a shikai? Shikai?
Byakuya : true story bro (insert true story meme)
Ikakku : (insert why you meme here)
Ikakku : feck this! Imma just training my shikai from this moment (insert success kid meme here)...

I dunno, at least this is funny.
Naruto went from having a pretty great twist (Tobi duping everyone into thinking he was Madara) then squandered that twist with a lame true identity reveal and a series of last-minute final villain switches. It was a few bad decisions that led to the collapse of a decent premise.
Toriko is in a similar situation right now, where years of engaging buildup were squandered with little indication as to why.
Bleach, on the other hand, has been a cavalcade of total nonsense for ages. There's no way that anyone could've expected a decent outcome for the series by this point, so instead we get to have fun watching Kubo scramble to wrap things up after the Jump Editors got fed up with his BS.
Although he reminds me why the "Bankai can't be fixed if it is broken" plotpoint was so ridiculous. Mayuri claims it was an exception because of the nature of his zan (damage taken is dealt back to him), but it's not like Komamura even chose that power! Also Renji's bankai which was totally destroyed, then they claim that it was only "a few segments."
The whole Bankai destroying thing was really unnecessary and demanded too many retcons. It'd have been better and simpler if Ichigo simply learned how to attain full strength with all his abilities after getting beaten in the first Quincy invasion. And the entire thing was completely pointless after Ichigo lost his Hollow and Quincy powers and Zangetsu returned to normal. Ichigo actually ended up regressing to the state he was in post-Soul Society, minus the rampant Hollow inside.
And while Komamura's sacrifice wasn't as poorly handled as some other plot points, it'd be a lot more worthwhile if it had been used against more people other than Quincy Regina George. And the fact that Komamura's arc ended and ceased to be mentioned 127 chapters ago made this even more abrupt.
Considering Komamura's "invincibility," Gerard should've been the guy he used it on.
Koma's mustache titan beating thor down would have been a much more satisfying ending to that fight than the "lol gotta end the series, you die now" we got.

Gerard probably didn't even exist as a concept at the time.
Little fun fact for y'all: the viz version of this chapters title was "The End of Flawlessness"
Good work keeping the irony, guys

When did the flawlessness start?
When did the flawlessness start?
Well Bleach goes as far back as Chapter -108. So the most appropriate chapter for that title would have to be -109 at most.

That wouldn't be fair for Komamura, since his immortality didn't make him any stronger and it had time limit to boot, whereas Giganthor could bounce back stronger indefinitely.

All the other elites got beat by absurd asspull plot devices, the guy that's already invincible thanks to weirdo dog-voodoo heart-surgery also yanking out a counter would be par for the course.
No to Koma vs Gerry. The battle might went "but… im invincible" on every panels.
In a series where almost every fight is full of "NO U", I don't see why that'd be a problem.

Anyone with a lame power like coming back stronger forever deserves a bad ending. It's the kind of terrible power that comes from the genius mind of a kid that doesn't want to lose like Cartman.
Aizen also had that kind of power and it ended just as terribly.
Bleach finally coming to close, I hope Orihime finally got her man Ichigo as a companion/lover I'm not a fan of love in manga but that girl went through it all.

If Kubo followed through with her confession before Hueco Mundo, it would've added some nice development:
-have Ichigo acknowledge/return the feelings, she gets the boy of her dreams
-have him politely turn her down, at least she can move on
Compared to now, where it feels like she is kinda stringing along. Did Ichigo and her even talk about the ending of the HM battle?

I quickly scanned through it, no mention of their relationship just her crying and talking about how he looks different ( when he entered final getsugatenshou ). It's a shame looks like he really does just ignore her feelings.
It's a shame how they fucked Rukia so badly like that.
Like, Ichigo and Rukia had a great bond early on. If Kubo didn't wanna make them a couple, fine, but jesus she was basically the co-star of the show and Kubo just fucked her up.
It's like Bleach was written by two different authors halfway through Soul Society.
Better to lose her position as one of the main characters than go the Ichigo route, I suppose.

I feel the point where Rukia didn't feel like "female lead, equal to Ichigo" anymore was after the Aaroniero stuff wrapped up. Rukia quelled her demons, but didn't really do anything after that besides get thrashed by Yammy and worry about Ichigo.
I guess there was a brief turnaround when she returned in the Fullbringer arc to give him back his powers, but in this final arc, the two have barely felt like the team they used to be, what with most of Rukia's scenes bouncing off Renji.
I honestly shipped both Ichigo/Rukia and Ichigo/Orihime, but the former always felt more organic.
I honestly shipped both Ichigo/Rukia and Ichigo/Orihime, but the former always felt more organic.
I think both girls deserve better than that.
As I've said before, Chad and Orihime will be together. Chad is the real MC of this Manga.
Kind of sad that the only pairings that remotely make sense for the two arguable female leads are either cardboard cutout Captain-Planet-of-species/powers Ichigo or one of the two most notorious jobbers in the series (Chad/Orihime, Renji/Rukia).
The true OTP is AizenxChair anyway. Poor Eyeball McPumpkin Arrancar guy, Aizen-sama only ever had eyes for Chair…
Speaking of Arrancar... did anything ever come of the Quincy invading HM? Or was that a mostly pointless sidestep at the beginning of the arc solely to introduce new Quincy powerups and foreshadow Grimmjow? Like I know Harribel as far as we know is still chained up somewhere. God her life.. afterlife... whatever must suck: fights her way to being an Espada, offed in the war by her leader, then finally captured, chained, and forgotten by the Quincy. If she wasn't boring cardboard cutout character #623 and someone we've pretty much been meant to root against for 95+% of her panel time, I'd actually kinda feel sorry for her.
I'm more for Rukia/Ichigo considering their history, but I'd be more open to Orihime if she didn't confess her love only to be forgotton for years at a time. Really, he did it after (given) rescuing her after killing Ulq, then again several more times throughout the story. It's like Kubo wanted to use her as an excuse for a rescue arc, but didn't want to go through the character development that would entail.
Also, in hindsight, considering Rukia and Renji's power ups in this arc…why not power up Ichigo's main friends from the start. Yeah, I like Bleach better when it was about Orihime, Chad, and everyone from his school but considering most people probably started reading cause of the starting cast...why not?

Keigo, Tatsuki, and Mizuiro seemed to be going somewhere power-wise, especially before the group left to Hueco Mundo: Tatsuki was the only soul to survive Yammy's slaughter in the park, Keigo clearly saw Edorad when Ikkaku fought him, etc. etc.
Then Kubo shows the three of them at the end of Aizen, but….nope! It doesn't go anywhere.
Oh wait, the soul tickets plotpoint. Remember that?

With a roller coaster they literally goes everywhere in honor of Yachiru.
Chad did us all proud and ntr'd the hell out of ichigo. Orihime and chad are married now, have kids. Ichigo died seven years ago, became a hollow got purged by Renji. :ninja:
It's sad. Kubo had a great structure with Bleach but ruined it around Arrancar.
He's mentioned 2 things: 1) That the Aizen plot twist was not planned and 2)He introduces new characters when he has writer's block.
So when you connect the dots, you see why Bleach fell off a cliff; Kubo didn't know where to go story-wise after the Aizen twist (since it was unplanned), and thus he introduced all those espadas and other characters in Hueco Mundo. Because Bleach didn't have a clear narrative anymore, he started making the show one big bloated mess of 1v1 fights that drag on and on - all because he didn't have any idea of where to go.
That's why it continued with Fullbring, and again with the Qunicy blood war. And in the meantime, the main characters that started this shit (Ichigo, Rukia, Orhime, Chad, etc.) all became flat characters with stunted or even non-existant development.

I would forgive Kubo for sidelining Chad instantly if he wrote this.
Gee, remember when Chad's powers were Hollow-like and not Fullbring? Because I definitely remember that scene where his mother was attacked by a Hollow.:ninja:

Ichigo and rukia never had romantic feelings towards each other, so yeah makes sense they dont get together. Kurosaki-kun girl can have the bland clown and they both can be bland together.
Chad/Sad….. Ichigo such a prick, where that fighting side by side they promised together when they on highschool?
@Little:

I'm really disappointed that their friendship wasn't elaborated on or focused on at all… I think back to that scene where it showcases how they became friends during Chad's fight with Kyoraku and it remains iconic to me (while showcasing the type of people they are). Kubo seemed to be building Chad up to be a much more interesting character (not to mention it's one of manga's best examples of multicultralism done right in a xenophobic society).
Gets defeated immediately as soon as he gets to Soul Society? Turns out he fought against the then second strongest captain in the 13 Court Guard Squads (and future Captain-Commander). Di Roy almost kills him? A chance to get stronger again and trains with Renji and Urahara.
Develops his powers? Turns out he's got hollow powers, just like Ichigo. DURING THE HOLLOW ARC. Gets crushed by Nnoitra? Ichigo can't even beat him either–even God-tier Kenpachi barely does!
Ultimately Bleach is a series filled with wasted opportunities. But I think that Kubo started caring less about character development during the Hueco Mundo arc and more interested in the philosophy behind battle and death1. The fact that every Espada represented and died in a way that showed this (and the unusual focus away from his protagonists, sans to showcase their new moves), the ambiguous flashbacks where readers are meant to interpret the tragedies of what happened to characters (Rangiku's rape, Haschwalth's abuse, etc) as well as the symbolism present within his volumes (every volume has a poem and the omake are often representations of death or rebirth) proved to me that the plot of Bleach started becoming less important. "Death" became a major character in Bleach, in some odd way. This trend continued in the Quincy arc while infusing it with twists on Christian ideology. I've got more to say on the Quincy arc regarding this, but it'll have to wait for another time.
1 He subsequently became interested in modernist architectural styles, too–the fact that every arrancar was named after a famous architect or designer is no coincidence and Luis Barragan could've designed Hueco Mundo.
I'm in the minority here, but I'd much prefer Ichigo end up with Nel. I say this knowing it won't happen.
Ichigo/Nel is a pretty fun pairing in my book; Neliel's glomping etc. contrasts nicely with how she appears at first glance (the serious adult Espada). Wish there was more of her.
@Little:
Chad/Sad….. Ichigo such a prick, where that fighting side by side they promised together when they on highschool?
This bothers me too; Chad has always felt like a satellite character to Ichigo. Sure he's willing to fight and die for his friend, and I guess Ichigo to him, but you never see them just chilling and hanging out like buds.
Plus as Ichigo got stronger and stronger, he kinda left Chad in the dust.
It's sad. Kubo had a great structure with Bleach but ruined it around Arrancar.

Yeah I kinda second that, only I figured he started running into trouble once Grand Fisher got introduced. That itself seemed like it was going for a long term goal and I was looking forward to it…and then it got dropped once more Soul Reapers showed up and then GF finally appeared again and was hastily brushed aside. Meh, seriously that could at least made for a decent filler arc in the anime.
But yeah, I don't entirely blame Kubo because his editors likewise didn't seem to know where to go with the story either and thus kept telling him to focus on various characters to keep the popularity up. So we have long string of characters to what essentially amounted to padding till they could find something for Ichigo to do. I'm surprised this wasn't cancelled sooner because of that, that's always proved to be a series killer for a lot of manga.
Honestly I don't really hate this series since I do have fond memories of first reading it and meeting friends in the early days of the fandom. But it is frustrating watching something you love drop in quality because the author couldn't really plan out his stories. Just please go out on a decent note, that's all I ask.
As I've said before, Chad and Orihime will be together. Chad is the real MC of this Manga.
Ishida is married to Orihime and Ishida's dad is married to Rukia. LMAO. Ichigo followed in the family business and terrorizes his two sons, he is a widower. His wife died during a battle with a hollow right before the big purge right before the peace times.

Why not just take a 4 week break? I was annoyed when One Piece did it, however if that is what you need to rest, relax, and get your mojo back then do so. I am fine with that, do some backstory until you get your thoughts together.

Since we are just shooting from the hip, I would love for Ichigo to be with Harribel, her minions could continue beating him up as his dad did. They would be nice sister in laws to go with his uninterested sisters. Speaking of which I wonder if they will even be mentioned in next weeks chapter.
Always wondered what the original plan was. Just take care of bad part of SS and continue partying with the good guys?
Ichigo ideas of Friends = someone who I know, but the fight is mine alone coz no one is as strong as me, I'm the strongest, they not qualified to fight with me, nuisances.
Ichigo don't have a friends. People around him is just some people he know of.

That's exactly what he did. In 2013 Bleach went on hiatus for 6 weeks so that Kubo can "work on the final battle".

You realize that you are talking about a series that couldn't even properly handle the theme of friendship, right? I don;t know where you are getting this philosophy of battle and death from but it seriously overstates Kubo's ability as a writer. It's like seeing an Eva fan claim how philosophical and genius the series is, only to find out that the main creator behind it pretty much threw stuff together because he found them cool, not because he had an actual purpose or idea behind them that he wanted to convey.
Can i see the chapter of this said rangiku's rape? Or when the story even implies that?
