You know, it occurs to me, before I thought Lola was going around trying to get married on her own so as not to be tied down my Linlin's whims, but what if Lola is simply looking for a marriage of love, without using her (still alleged but highly likely) relationship to Big Mom as a barter tool.
Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2

I'm sure the conclusion has been drawn before, but I have no idea if from this "evidence" (everything is based on some junk I recall reading a while back, so if I'm totally mistaken, ffffffff that's ok).
The side on which one's hair parts has purportedly been linked to the direction in which one's hair grows, in terms of clockwise and counterclockwise, and that direction supposedly correlates with gender (not sexuality). I don't remember which direction is which but, in general, one direction tends to be associated with male, and the other with female.
Sanji's hair part changed sides because he is now a closet Okama, or more generally just "female" (though, I then believe she is a lesbian). This probably won't play out explicitly, as Sanji's sexuality essentially remains the same - attracted to women - and gender typically isn't explicitly addressed regarding the crew; we get hints from personality and behavior, of course (i.e. Zoro is clearly male), so we might see some hints in Sanji's behavior, but I don't think there would ever be confirmation of this.
As the view is practically unfalsifiable, and I am happy to reject good, scientific methodology for the prospect of something stupid, I now fully endorse the preceding conclusion.
What the fuck is this post lollllll

What the shit, I only see this now.
runs to check which way the hair is parted

Just watched episode 739 of the anime (Kaido's appearance) and it gave me a thought. People have argued that, if Kaido wants to die why doesn't he do something as simple as drown himself (especially if, as is considered likely, he has a Devil Fruit).
My theory is that, as tough as Kaido clearly is, his survival has just as much to do with some kind of ungodly luck. Anything he isn't inherently tough enough to survive fails to kill him because of some contrived coincidence at the last moment.
It's either that, or he's testing his bodily fortitude. For example, he'll try to jump from big heights to see if he would die, but he would never drink poison or jump into deep sea. Like, it doesn't count unless his body gives out due to some force overcoming it.

Kaidou's not suicidal. Actual suicide would be easy if all he wanted to do was kill himself.
He's just bored and wants to test the strongest things the world can throw at him. So he does things that would be suicide for other people, but for him is just one more thing not good enough to be interesting for him. Fighting Whitebeard for instance.

We don't actually know why Kaido is trying to kill himself. It could be as you say, however the manga chapter that introduced him was titled "Suicide", the narration explicitly states the man is looking for a place to die, and Kaido laments that Whitebeard managed to pull it off.
Whether he's legitimately suicidal or not though, doesn't really matter as far as my theory goes. The fact is that he repeatedly does things that should kill him but don't and whatever he isn't inherently tough enough to handle or should kill him outright regardless he survives because of the intervention of fate or what-have-you.
Imagine a suicidal DF user who wants to die throwing himself into the ocean, only to unerringly pick the one place where there's something like a Knock Up Stream to shoot him back onto land. Or something swallows him Jonah and the Whale style and he survives there until fished out.

Well there is a luck luck fruit in movie Gold and oda doesnt duplicate fruits so I dont think it will be some incredible coincidence thing, the man wants to go out with a bang not simply eat two fruits and die
-
@Long:

I'm not saying his luck of Devil Fruit based, just that it's there. Yeah, it might be a bit ridiculous, but that's why I referred to it as "ungodly" luck.
Also, watch him try that and wind up with some fake fruit that does nothing (or a SMILE fruit has no effect on a real DF user).
It makes me think of a character in the Discworld novel, The Truth, who REALLY wants to get high on drugs but without fail always buys from someone selling a harmless fake they does nothing.
-
Haha, ok. Whatever you say bro.
CONTEXT. if you go a couple pages later, and read the rest of the narration, it elaborates to say he find its amusing to commit suicidal acts, that its a hobby.
What he does looks suicidal to others.
He's just testing his limits against things that would kill other men. He's jumping off an island and folding his arms, totally relaxed. Plus tons of other examples.
He doesn't actually want to die, he's just bored by everything and seeing if there's anything that can phase him. Luffy will no doubt excite him again.
Drowning for instance is easy. Especially if he has a DF. Or eating a second devil fruit. If he ONLY wanted to kill himself, there's ways to do that.
He's not suicidal in that he wants to die, he just enjoys trying really dangerous things that could kill him, and would kill others.
-
That's how it appears to others.

Which is the whole crux of my theory, the hard ways don't work because he's too tough and the easy ways don't work because some contrived coincidence saves him.
I'm legitimately curious, where you get the "he's bored and testing his limits" idea. Kaido has only had two "on screen" appearances and neither honestly suggests that to me.
If you're right I think you'll be right about Luffy, too. But barring some later reveal he just seems absurdly suicidal. At most he may deliberately avoid the easy ways to make his death feel meaningful, bit that's still not the same as nor actually wanting to die.
-

I do agree with you, as it wouldn't make sense if he really wanted to die. Because it should have been pretty easy. The one thing that bothers me is how he says that Whitebeard was lucky to have found his death. This indicates that he really does want to die. How would you explain that line? That's the one conundrum for me.
-

Because of the rest of narration where it says he finds it a game to take dangerous chances. And that he jumped off the island with his arms crossed. No flailing, no fear, just going for it with all he's got, in a "I challenge you to defeat me, ground!" pose.

Because he's bored and can't find any challenges. If you were nigh immortal and had basically conquered everything and there was just nothing to do, you'd start resorting to doing stupid stunts too. He doesn't appreciate family and finer things like Whitebeard does, just action and thrills. Which he doesn't get anymore.
I mean, Oda put the "Suicide" thing front and center, and then at the end of the chapter made a point of "Yeah, its suicide for others, but its a joke to this guy." That's the entire point. Its NOT suicide for him. Just boredom and limit testing. If he happens to die, fine, he's ready for that, but nothing has killed him so far so he isn't taking it seriously. He doesn't actually think what he's doing is going to kill him, nothing else has.
Whitebeard got to go out in a blaze of glory against all the strongest guys in the world at once, rather than dying of sickness and old age. That's an exciting time, something to be envious of
If all he wanted was death he could go to Fishman Island and then walk out the door.

Ah, I think I get it. You're focusing on the "suicide as a hobby" part. I always interpreted that less as "testing his limits" and "I'm so absurdly unkillable I can try something like take a header off a sky island and see what happens".
It does come to mind of the same thing, I admit, except for a difference in mindset. My interpretation is he does want to die but probably wants it to be as spectacular as possible, which (my theory aside) is why he doesn't just hurl himself into the ocean.
Your view, if I'm reading right, is his mindset is more " I'm bored as hell, let's see what happens if I do something no sane man would try. "
If all he wanted was death he could go to Fishman Island and then walk out the door.
Causing a flood so fierce Kaido is washed from one side of Fishman Island to the other, in the process shoving him into a whole new, air filled bubble he rides back to the surface.
KAIDO: Curses! Still alive!

Then again, Minks don't really think of themselves as a separate race from humans. They just consider humans hairless "lesser Minks"

Wait, does that make Kaidou just Evil Saitama? Though I'm curious why he'd have that attitude while Marine Headquarters & Mariejois is still standing. Maybe he's already wrecked it a few times and is just bored of it now?

it's a stretch..the minks consider themselves minks..the fact that in their eyes humans are just monkey minks without fur, doesn't mean that they identify themselves as humans like shoujou did.

Are you sure? It's Oda we are talking about. He introduced haki on the very first chapter and we didn't get an explanation about it until almost 10 years later. I think he is pretty good with foreshadowing these things, dude.
-
He might have had animal people in mind for a while, who knows if by the time Jaya came around he had the complete idea of them being mammalian versions of Fishfolk. I could easily see him making these big ape people first and then later on down the line decide that they should belong to a really diverse and important group of people.
-
We will get confirmation on next volume one way or another, we are already out of zou, and we can't be the first ones to notice . there are also Magellan and mery that had very mink features.

Foreshadowing of Pedro and Carrot? If yes then Minkmen would have existed in some form since Alabasta arc. So I agree with you. Thumbs up!*Edit: Does this count as evidence/proof of the POSSIBLE importance of the Minkmen? I guess proving Shoujou and Masira are Minkmen should be first.

That's pretty interesting. Before I'd say anything about it being foreshadowing I'd look into stories from around the world involving a Jaguar and white rabbit playing off each other. Maybe Oda was inspired by something else to put these 2 animals together on more than one occasion or maybe it's just something he's always wanted to draw.
What ever it is though it's pretty cool to look back and catch things like that. Good eye.

You're amusing and aggravating. Answer the question. I would like your perspective if you don't mind. About Minkmen foreshadowing of course. I know about your view of Pedro. I'd rather not tarnish an One Piece character. -

I'd rather not tarnish an One Piece character. The minks are just making a alliance mink crew like the dwarfs and giants no minks are joining carrot is already been shown to just be a cook that just cooks carrot related foods.
pedro or pekoms will be the captain with the other one being the vice captain of the mink crew allied with the straw hats, moriah and his crew will join the alliance as well against kaido and if kaido sends kidd's crew to scare the straw hats away he will join the alliance as well since he knows the straw hats are going against kaido.
the three eyed girl has a much higher chance of joining than any mink not only is her design more unique but she is not a chopper clone like the minks are plus we saw her the first time we saw big mom also jinbe is more interesting as well.
if a mink like pedro did join he would have his power nerfed to be below the monster trio just like how robin's power was nerfed when she joined.

It's still mostly undecided. They're either very hairy humans or half minks. Pretty inconsequential.

You cannot call everything foreshadow, an author can throw stuff left and right and bring one back up 200 chapters later and have people like, Yo that was show 200 chapters ago.
Oda draws weird people all the time, he can make races out of thin air.

I like it. Connects with moon rabbit mythology.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_rabbit
! Similar legends occur in Mexican folklore, where people also identified the markings on the Moon as a rabbit. According to an Aztec legend, the god Quetzalcoatl, then living on Earth as a man, started on a journey and, after walking for a long time, became hungry and tired. With no food or water around, he thought he would die. Then a rabbit grazing nearby offered herself as food to save his life. Quetzalcoatl, moved by the rabbit's noble offering, elevated her to the Moon, then lowered her back to Earth and told her, "You may be just a rabbit, but everyone will remember you; there is your image in light, for all people and for all times."
! Another Mesoamerican legend tells of the brave and noble sacrifice of Nanahuatzin during the creation of the fifth sun. Humble Nanahuatzin sacrificed himself in fire to become the new sun, but the wealthy god Tecciztecatl hesitated four times before he finally set himself alight to become the Moon. Due to Tecciztecatl's cowardice, the gods felt that the Moon should not be as bright as the sun, so one of the gods threw a rabbit at his face to diminish his light. It is also said that Tecciztecatl was in the form of a rabbit when he sacrificed himself to become the Moon, casting his shadow there.
! A Native American (Cree) legend tells a different variation, about a young rabbit who wished to ride the Moon. Only the crane was willing to take him. The trip stretched Crane's legs as the heavy rabbit held them tightly, leaving them elongated as cranes' legs are now. When they reached the Moon Rabbit touched Crane's head with a bleeding paw, leaving the red mark cranes wear to this day. According to the legend, on clear nights, Rabbit can still be seen riding the Moon. -

The rabbit is the reason why the cow jumped over the moon. It was like when the hare and the tortoise raced = one arrogant arse that's known for something challenges another that's not thought to be good at it in a competition.
Just like the fast hare challenged the slow tortoise to a race and lost, the high-jumping rabbit challenged the "all feet on the ground" cow to a jumping contest. Obviously the rabbit lost as cow is known for jumping over the moon while the rabbit is still stuck up there.

This "theory" involves when certain events are going to transpire. It goes along with this dumb prediction (everything is dumb, m'kay?) but I change the motive a bit.
Part 1:
[HIDE]
@Tamiel:…
Basing my idea from the quote above, I was thinking that we know some of Blackbeards concrete objectives. He wants to collect devil fruit powers. I think the war between Luffy and Kaido will be big enough that Blackbeard (whom would also know where Wano is during his WB era) will storm the battefield. Now, I think he is going to particularly crash the celebration party after Kaido's defeat, why? Because everyone will be exhausted and it would just be easy pickings from there. I think that this will add onto the direct tension between the Strawhats and the Blackbeard pirates. Also this is where Marco's fruit will be stolen, potentially Jozu's if he wasn't already defeated, and all the artificial devil fruit users (if he can steal those as well, we might find he can't). Luffy and company will have to escape, and Momo could again be homeless, and he might stay with the minks until the final war. This could also be seen as Luffy's failure.
[/HIDE]
Part 2:
[HIDE]Now, after this I think the Strawhats are going to flee towards Elbaf, or maybe another island. Regardles they are going to meet Shanks and his crew. For the sake of this theory, I will assume that the warlord system has been abolished and Mihawk has decided to stay with Shanks for now. Everyone gets their final mentoring arc. I think Shanks will die AFTER RAFTEL, and this will be the setup. After Luffy and co. regain their strengths and continue onto Raftel, the Blackbeard pirates, by now have probably amassed all the forces, and drama if the dumb prediction comes true, that they need. The Blackbeard pirate are only missing the Ancient Weapon. So after Luffy comes back from Raftel or if whatever sparks the Final War happens at Raftel, I don't care to guess. But during the meeting before the final war (if there is a gathering) the allied forces will be informed that Blackbeard is mobilizing his troops towards the final Ancient Weapon. During this meeting Luffy will give back the hat to Shanks (he already became the Pirate King) So, while Luffy leads his forces towards the marines, Shanks and his crew + Mihawk will go and stop Blackbeard, but obviously they are defeated. I can almost imagine the panel: Blackbeard shows up, looks at Luffy and shows him a tattered straw hat, throws it away, all the while Shyriu is sporting a new massive scar. [/HIDE]…should i add it, meh why not: [/fanfic]
