Chapter 815: Take Me With You!

Had to color that cover!

@uniaka:
IMO, the best would be just to leave Sanji there and focus on Kaidou, that plan with Sanji I think it would be better then Luffy going alone in the middle of the yonkou.
He's not going to pick a fight or anything, I'm sure he'll be able to sort things out if he goes there alone. No way he could fight an emperors crew plus Germa double-six () on his own.
And he needs to get Sanji back because otherwise he would quit the crew forever. Exactly like Robin's situation back then I guess.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Had to color that cover!
Wow that's very nice. Good job !
(I was about to say "How did you do that in such a limited time" but I realized how late it is).
-
The thing is, Kin'emon is living proof that the Samurai were the responsible for bringing Jack into Zou, as Bariete now knows that they planned the place to be a rendezvous point.
Yes but theh didn’t do it on purpose and when they know what happened on Zou, they will certainly grieve for it. The Strawhats knowing both the minks and the samourais are perfect ambassadors but by hiding fact and not being honnest, they have lost some credibility
-
what if big mom ends up letting luffy go but will only return sanji if luffy takes down kaido? she might end up making this deal so luffy can either go get himself killed or at the very least doing major damage to one of her rivals. of course luffy is likely going to take him down which she probably never expected.
-
So, I take the head in a present box thing was inspired by the horse's head in the bed from The Godfather?
There are other sources. As someone else pointed out, Se7en comes to mind, guy finds a box, its his wife's head in it.
yeah law's crew looks like fodder. only bepo and jean bart look like they can fight. i hope that doesn't mean his crew is going to be killed off at one point.
Penguin and Shachi aren't pushovers either. That was pointed out back when they were on SA and were at the Auction House when Rayleigh let out some haki. They managed to stay conscious along with their captain.
-
maybe the Vinsmoke family only wanted to have an arranged marriage for their son because Big Mom is their next target (hit ordered by the government?) and this was the best way to get close to her and take her out on her own island. They might have even known Sanji was a Straw Hat all along but this moment was the most opportune.
It would be a strage thing for a group of assassins to have an arranged marriage to a giant political party which ties them to said party, limiting their possible targets to targets agreed upon by Big Mom and thus, getting in the way of business.
-
@uniaka:
IMO, the best would be just to leave Sanji there and focus on Kaidou, that plan with Sanji I think it would be better then Luffy going alone in the middle of the yonkou, at least with his fleet, law pirates and rest of SH they have shots in fighting. Also, they could still end up on Kaidou's winter island for the final battle with Kaidou.
You might have a point… Sanji isn't actually in any danger while there if he gets married (aside from possible danger of sex with someone undesirable again, lol). Luffy could just beat Kaidou, beat Big Mom later, and then Sanji isn't in a crew anymore and can come back. No side-trips, just a missing Sanji for a while.
Of course, Sanji fans would cry, so that's a no-no outside the fourth wall. -
yeah law's crew looks like fodder. only bepo and jean bart look like they can fight. i hope that doesn't mean his crew is going to be killed off at one point.
A couple of them managed to withstand Rayleigh's Conqueror's Haki before the timeskip, though, even if one almost passed out.
-
i really like how oda is treating the yonkou like a big deal..just having huge organizations under them wa something even the shichibukais were able to accomplish, but they have "true power" much like big mafia bosses
-
A prediction. A gag prediction, but a prediction nonetheless.
Wanda finds out about the Samurai
Furious, she seeks out Nami to retrieve the national treasure
Forcefully strips Nami
Miles away, Sanji senses a "disturbance in the force"
He can't tell why, but he feels he has made a horrible mistake by leaving the island
-
I see what you did there. :ninja:
You saw that?!
I'm just trying to prove a point. The Strawhats getting a person of ELITE skill of a KNOWN or UNKNOWN need will only strengthen the overall crew dynamic abilities. Pedro of the Treetops is proving to be a good candidate for Lookout and Nightwatch.
-
I bet everyone in the Vinsmoke family will have curly eyebrows
-
- They need a better nightwatch.
Somehow I feel this comment relates to the "someone with a name starting with P" idea.
EDIT: Oh, the cat is out of the bag.
-
With the description of bloody boxes and the escaping monkey at the end Oda forced me to think; Farewell Sanji, that was a great time. Visit us in the future with your wife and child.
Then again, when Law and the Strawhats have to resolve the Samurai problem, Sanji and Jimbei have to take on BM and Daddy Vinsmoke alone, or not?
Luffy! Call the boys! Barto is a perfect wedding crasher.
-
Btw did Capone had to marry someone as well to become an underling of Big Mom?
And with the amount of children see seems to have I think it may be power related… I can't see her having so many
-
The last 2 pages are pure gold.
-
**So i searched for "GERMA 66" on Google and found something interesting : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Type_U_66_submarine
And searched for "Warmonger" :** "A person who wants a war or tries to make other people want to start or fight a war" What you guys thinks?
-
There are other sources. As someone else pointed out, Se7en comes to mind, guy finds a box, its his wife's head in it.
.
I think its more Godfather inspired. since, Literally Big Mom made Sanji
"An offer he couldn't refuse"
-
Where do you think Law got his boat?
-
It seems like some conflict is about to be introduced and Oda is ready to tie it all together. With the current pacing of this arc, I'd give this 10-15 chapters.
On a side note: Damnit….. I really want Carrot to go with Luffy and Oh Carrot is pronounced as ninjin or kakarot in Japanese. Is that correct?
-
Okay, time to unpack this chapter.
First off, some notes:
Vivi is cute but she looks way too much like Nami there
Love the continuing mafiosa stuff from Big Mom's crew. I know it was a serious moment but I couldn't help laughing at the idea of someone trying to stuff Ivankov's giant head in that little box.
Pekoms is great
Carrot is cute
Nekomamushi is adorable
Sudden transition to party felt awkward
I get that the adults falling asleep is supposed to be a gag, but it just fell flat for me. So many ways to avoid that problem.Alright, now for thoughts/predictions.
Some people are questioning why Sanji wanted a bounty and accurate picture if he was avoiding his family. The obvious answer is that the Vinsmoke family had no use for Sanji until now, for political reasons. As the third son in the family with a good heart, Sanji isn't cut out to be a killer and serves little use as heir or otherwise to the family. He ran away or was abandoned and Papa Vinsmoke never bothered to look for him because he never had a use for Sani. With Sanji gaining fame as a pirate and the potential for inroads with Big Mom, Papa Vinnie recalls Sanji for purely political reasons. This also implies that the first and second sons of the Vinsmoke family are already married or otherwise taken. With their apparent influence with the WG, it's easy to suppose that those marriages are to important figures in the World Government, Yonkou, or even possibly the Revolutionaries. In keeping with the complexity of the New World, I'm willing to bet that we'll see representatives of two or more other factions at the Tea Party or wedding.
It seems to me like far too many people are thinking "rescue Sanji" means kidnap him or steal him back. That's an awful idea, because there's no way to ensure that Big Mom doesn't go after some of Sanji's loved ones in retaliation. What needs to happen instead is that Luffy needs to convince either Papa Vinsmoke or Big Mom that the wedding is no longer in their best interest. "Ruin the wedding" works better if he can eliminate the reason for the wedding in the first place rather than just abscond with the groom. Luffy likely hasn't thought this through yet, so I'm going to predict that he'll manage to secretly contact Sanji and ask him to leave. Sanji will point out that he can't leave while his friends are still at risk but will agree to help cancel the wedding. The one caveat is that Big Mom can't have a reason to blame the Strawhats for canceling the wedding; she will have to either decide to call it off of her own accord or be placated in some other way.
As for the delegation sent to interfere with the wedding, the Strawhats would be crazy to let Luffy go on a delicate mission like this by himself. Either Nami or Brook will accompany him and Pekoms; of the two, Brook seems more likely since he seems to have some knowledge of or history with the Vinsmokes. Also Carrot will go, because Carrot. That means the eventual Big Mom-side team will probably be Luffy, Sanji, Brook, Pekoms, Carrot, and probably Jinbe plus maybe another unexpected ally.
-
Great chapter.
The only thing I can predict is that the person they used to threaten Sanji will not be anyone of those mentioned by Pekoms.
My guess is that Vito said something like "We know that <person>is alive".I'm really intrigued to know why he thought his past wouldn't catch up to him. It can't be something as simple as him running away from his family because he should have known that getting famous would bring him trouble.
And I'm guessing that the way to resolve that wedding issue with Big Mom is either to destroy whatever underground empire the Vinsmoke family has and thus she won't find anymore value in that "bloodline", or to befriend Pudding and make her convince her mother to cancel the wedding.
Right now, I don't really mind if Luffy doesn't bring all his crewmates with him but I just want him to at least bring Nami and Brook with him.</person>

I seem to be the only thinking no one will go. First of all, Pekoms did not agree with Luffy's plan. And why would he? Second, that conversation with Pekoms was before Luffy talked to Law. What Law said made Luffy at least rethink the whole thing (we even had a pannel with him making a weird face while thinking). Law made it clear that Kaido will come after them soon. If they all leave Zou, Kaido's crew will show up looking for them (like they were looking for Raizou) and wreck the place up all over again. So, yeah, Luffy said he'd leave alone to go after Sanji, but after what Law told him, why would he abandon 7 crewmates to face an Emperor without him in order to rescue 1 crewmember? Another option would be: the Strawhats go and the Hearts stay. But wasn't the whole point to team up in order to have a CHANCE of taking down Kaido? One of the crews without the other coudn't handle it. So I guess Zoro is the one who's right. Sanji's gonna have to take care of himself.

I don't see how that's a possibility. There's simply no way we get a whole storyline devoted to Sanji dealing with loads of new characters on his own. Luffy might come up with an alternate plan to help Sanji but there's no way in hell he would leave him to his fate.

They'll have to send a letter to Kaido saying "Look, we're (wherever) and not on Zou. Please don't go there anymore. Thank you for your understanding."

Well, Pekoms was left back for a reason, with several characters commenting that he might be the only way to find Sanji.
Really hard to see this opportunity pass up.
-
The least that Luffy can do is have Brook accompany him to the wedding. If there is going to a misunderstanding between the Minks and Kanjuro/Kin'emon, I do hope that Oda will resolve it as soon as possible.
-
I am ashamed to be the one to notice, but the pose of the Heart Pirates was an obvious reference to Air Gear's Team Kogarasumaru.
If he goes it is obvious to lean on the wizard of Oz storyline. He takes of with the scaredy lion. Who will be his other companions?
Franky..? Or perhaps Scotch on behalf of Kaido. Then, along their way, Conis will fall from Sky Island and they will meet Chouchou in the New World, both of whom will accompany them.
-
Ironically, the person with the best chance of getting Sanji out of this was Sanji all along.
The way to a fat cow of a woman's heart is through her stomach… -
Amazing chapter, I couldn't stop laughing with all the gags, Oda is amazing…and also loved what he's doing with Sanji...after this I am really hyped for the year of SANJI!!
-
Please Oda, after Fishmen Island you can't build an arc on the hatred of the mink toward the samurais!
One Piece teaches that you can't hate a race because one made something bad to you, Otohime says hi.So that diatribe minkmen/samurai can't be resolved in fight.
No one want to fight each other in Zou now.It would be stupid if after all that friendship, parties & co, minkmen turn to be enemies!

Samurai aren't a race tho.

Loving Pekoms more and more.
Hoping he gets a revenge shot on Bege at some point.@Dr.:

Putting aside the confusing/complicated "plots" and the gratuitous fanservice,
I still really enjoy Oh Great!'s manga titles (Air Gear / Tenjho Tenge).I personally think he's a really good artist, and a lot of his spreads and fights are pretty darn badass.
So I can easily enjoy those manga in the same way that people enjoy mindless action movies. It's cool and presented well, so I like it XD -

The situations aren't even remotely the same. There's a difference between that conflict and this one, which is thematic cause.
And it's not like it's going to be a long-lasting conflict or the "big conflict" of this arc. The arrival of the Beast Pirates will be when the true conflict begins.

You mean now?
Not possible. Too soon!
2016 is Sanji's year, we are going to Tea Party in few chapters. -

The end of the chapter pretty much confirms that stuff is going to start hitting the fan.

Useless to discuss about it!

LoL at the Dog Mink munching Brook's leg on page 13.
-
As always enjoyed the chapter. And i think after those 9 chapters i got the answer for the cover page. "500 million berry Man arc" So my bet will be that Luffy will go alone as he said in the chapter. ID vol.2 ?

"500 Million Belly Man Arc" is the cover story arc's title, not the title of the actual story arc.
Unless you meant something else.
-
UUUUUUGH, get out of Zou already! Why are they even still here? This is stagnating so much. There are already so many plot lines and more important things on the menu, why the hell do we have to linger here with these furries and this stupid samurai pseudo-problem? Go meet Big Mom and Kaido already.

Not really a useless discussion, since it regards the direction the story is going.
Look at how we were reminded of them coming back in this very chapter.
-
I sort of figured this would be the outcome. However, I think he's going to have to tap into that Supersaiyan Goda power for this situation with the samurais and the minks to play out in a good way. If the strawhats just straight up talks the minks out of trouble with all this buildup all this time, it could be terrible. But it would also be pretty unbelievable for the minks to not be able to listen to reason after all the stuff they went through with Jack.
This would in the hands off a less competent writer be an absolute deathtrap, but I really think Oda can make any scenario believable.

And so?
It tells the obvious: mink are not safe now…A matter of time
The point is that 2016 in Sanji's year, it's Oda's statement, not mine.
1.000 different developments are possibile. To be honest, Law's words make us think "someone should stay on Zou" --> crew splitting

Well as I remember we had 2 or 3 times cover pages when like this time Oda made a cover from Luffys place to another where they have been. But it was always "From the decks of the world" and nothing more. Why now giving something like this? And why it had to be Luffys bounty that was given in each of those 9 chapters?
Sorry for my English but i havent written since months or even years…

"From the Decks of the World" was the post timeskip reaction cover story, yeah. But the ones before timeskip were titled as "Where Are They Now", and they recapped the happenings of the previous arcs at the time.
"From the Decks of the World, The 500 Million Belly Man Arc" is just how Oda decided to title this new reaction cover story.

Dude, the name of the cover story is "From the Decks of the World: 500 Million Berry Man Arc", because it's the second version of "From the Decks of the World, which was the first cover story after the timeskip. No need to make such a confusion :)
Ooops, got Ninja'd by Galaxy. Btw, the "Where They Are Now" weren't counted as cover stories. In the first installment of each cover story, we get the the number of cover stories that have happened in the past, and if you count the Straw Hat Separation Series as separate stories and do NOT count the "Where They Are Now"s, we have 22 stories, the number shown in the first cover of the current series ;)
-
well ok i guess you are right. but I will laugh if it ends up as i said ;D

if anything, that scene, and also the end of the chapter, with Kinemon and Kanjuro being discovered, is pointing out to all of them being forced to run away and leave Zou ASAP. Luffy planned to go alone but leave the others behind, which probably won't be an option now and everyone will end up going after Sanji.
You're reading it in a different way, but like he said, time will tell who's right.
