When we were first introduced to the fact that the hearing the voice of all things would allow someone to understand the Poneglyphs, I wondered if that would down play Robin's ability in all of this. Of course Luffy doesn't care at the moment but originally I thought Robin would be the only key to finding Raftel. Now I'm guessing Luffy himself will play an invaluable role beyond being a great leader.

Hey guys, I was reminiscing about Blackbeard's impact in the story, and it made me think about how he was the only Shichibukai to not have a bounty because he joined them before he could ever get one.
He definitely has a bounty now but I'm wondering why Blackbeard didn't get a bounty after ransacking Drum. Drum may be a relatively small country but it is a World Government associated country. In fact I believe Wapol himself said something along those lines to Luffy, how attacking him is stupid because he's the King of a country that's allied with the WG.
Everyone on Drum knew it was Blackbeard who attacked them, so why didn't the WG retaliate after Blackbeard rekt one of their affiliated countries? I can see why they wouldn't send a force to apprehend the criminals, but issuing a bounty seems like something they would do.
Just food for thought.
-
Hhmm a world government - reverie king leave his throne and kingdom in fear.
Yes it's something they would announce in the worldplus I don't think that anyone except the people of Drum Island, SH's, BBP's and some people from Dark Drum Kingdom (ex. Wapol) know about this and none have to say that to anyone.
Wapol just played the card "I'm someone importat" you should fear me -
EDIT:no wait..wapol was at the reverie…
hmm..probably nobody gave the alarm..wapol was lost at sea, while the citizien were actually glad that wapol was gone..so nobody called the marines to let them know the island was attacked

Yeah but the thing is, it probably wouldn't have taken very long for Wapol to call the WG and be like "hey this asshole called Blackbeard literally destroyed my kingdom do something about it"
I could see the WG keeping the Wapol leaving stuff on the down low but they haven't exactly been truthful in the past when issuing bounties. Like how they lied about Robin on her very first bounty.
I'm just saying, all Wapol had to do was call the WG and let them know what happened, it's not like they would have punished him for leaving since they obviously didn't care about him literally hoarding all the country's doctors for himself and treating every one of his subjects like shit. After that they could just issue a bounty for BB for, well, piracy. Which is exactly what he did, pillaging a kingdom, as a pirate.
I don't think it's a plot hole or anything, I just think it's interesting that BB never really got any comeuppance for attacking Drum like that. Actually, I'm more interested as to why he attacked Drum at all. He always does things when he knows theres some benefit there for himself, so why even bother destroying a country like that?
-
By attacking Drum he forced out Wapol, which did actually benefit the population there.
With Wapol gone, they didn´t feel the need to report it immediately, because they had to create a new way of organizing them first.
Also the damage was done and Wapol who would be the first to report it, was likely to proud to openly state his flight.
BB would have been reported, but with Wapol returning and after that creating the Sakura kingdom, it was not the highest priority for this country.
Sometimes fate is weird, afterall BB was on a mission to make a name for himself, but couldn´t do so in Drum ^^ -

As Maju and Don Quichotte De Flamingo said, the people was happy about that and don't want to report it. Wapol was on his way to take back his kingdom (didn't know that BB leaves - Doflamingo referece btw?) and some things happen too fast, SH's come and BB was lucky so yeah pretty much that

Do we have any measure of the relative size of "Zou Elephant" and San Juan Wolf? I seem to recall San Juan Wolf being referred to as the largest living creature at some point, and Zoulephant seems to contradict this.

I still find hard to believe that some believe seakings are bigger…we don't have a real size comparison until clearly stated. This is an entire island...

some of the seakings that catched noah were as big as fishman island itself,if not bigger -_-

Oda is not good at drawing relative size…this could be an SBS question

Did Zoro have a bounty on himself before Luffy? In the paper it says "Wanted Roronoa Zoro" and numbers that could be 100 000 or 1 000 000. Well, it's not really a serious question because those chapteropenings aren't really canon. I actually wanted to know if someone (who has seen the raw and/or knows Japanese) could tell me what's the real number on the paper?
-
How strong do you think cavendish/hakuba is?
Like it's hard to judge, but he seemed equal if not above chinjao?
I don't want to start powerlevel, genuinelly, how far do you think are the commanders from the core fleet?
-
And besides… even though we as an audience got distinctive silhouettes to clue us in.... did they actually go around saying "Arrrr, I am the dread pirate Blackbeard, I am here to destroy you!" or did these badasses just waltz into town, wreck stuff, and then leave? Were any pictures taken?
Even if the destruction was reported, there may have been nothing specific TO report. "Some pirates! We... didn't get their names." Did anyone in Drum say "Blackbeard?" I don't think so. It was just "pirates".

Zoro's first bounty was pretty explicitly his first bounty. He had some notoriety as pirate hunter before that in East Blue, but not a bounty.

Chinjao had a 500 mill bounty in his prime You can't use bounties as an exact metric for a variety of reasons, but they should give a general guideline to go by.
Given the enemies battled and the bounties, Luffy's fleet will in general be weaker than him, but probably comprable to the mid tier of his crew. Weaker than Luffy/Zoro/Sanji, or warlords like Jinbe or Law… but comparable to Franky/Brook/Usopp.

I believe Dalton said so. If memory serves correct, that was the first time he was mentioned.

Good information by Katzztar.
There may be a couple of reasons,
1 This was maybe the first time people heard about "blackbeard". Maybe nobody knew that blackbeard's name was actually Marshall D Teach. And for those pirates in the new world who knew Teach, they had never heard of "blackbeard". It could be a way Teach uses to conceal his identity from the whitebeards until the time is right. (but still Ace found that out in his investigation)
2 No picture of him was obtained at the time. The funny photographer who takes legendary pictures was not there.
With neither a real name nor a picture, the WG decided not to publish his bounty at the moment.
You know, Teach is very good at concealing himself. When was he in on Whitebeard's crew, few people noticed his power for many years.
-
I also wonder if another reason why is that Drum may be simply a remote location for the WG. The Sakura Kingdom's flag is a Jolly Roger, yet there seems to be no trouble for them.
-
In addition to that, Wapol probably wasn't very liked by the WG in general and the fact that he became a pirate after he fled made them even less likely to want to intervene.
-
@S.C.:

Well, they rebranded as "Sakura Kingdom" from "Drum Kingdom", no telling what went along with that…
But while they have the pirate symbol unnoficially at the end of the Drum arc and that's been left atop the castle in tribute... it's possible that the OFFICIAL flag is Hiriluk's hat with an X through it. (Unless that's the medical center flag only)
http://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/637
Hard to tell without greater context, but either way its a tribute to Hiriluk… so the cross and hat makes more sense for not getting in trouble.

Thank you, I got some more info on Blackbeard and if/when we learn of his identity …if anyone's interested (links are underlined)
It's interesting to go back and reread the pits with Blackbeard's early (pre-war) appearances and to catch some hints I didn't catch before. In regards to Blackbeard attacking Drum Island, lets remember that he was a pirate that didn't have any bounty on him at that time, as such he wasn't on the WG's radar like other pirates were. Let's remember that he's been a member of WB Pirates for 20 years .... that means 20 years as a pirate with no bounty. This suggests he's very good at laying low when he wants to. I agree with Laffitte above in that no one knew who he was. Not only did he only take the name of "Blackbeard" after he left the WB crew, but he managed to keep "Teach" out of the bounty as well.
So when he attacked Drum, they had zilch, no name no identity, to give a bounty on. Add to that is that the former ruler Wapol was missing after the event. (I really doubt that "Wapol Pirates" really did anything to get notice and then Luffy sent Wapol flying ) Then Dalton was elected as new leader and he was friends with SHs so likely wouldn't make any report sinc eit would be hard to explain things and leave SHs out.
As far as the WGs knows, the story is likely to be="5 unidentified pirates attacked, King Wapol abandoned us, and now Dalton is new king".in ch. 159 Ace met up with Luffy, and tells him he's chasing a pirate named Blackbeard, he mentions the fact that BB was once of the Whitebeard pirates and subordinate of Ace's who then killed another crewmate. But Ace never mentions his real name.
in ch. 223 BB & Luffy met in Jaya. It was set up as comical but showed them having opposite opinion and 'rivaling' each other. . 225 (pgs. 10-17 ) is when BB gave his "Sky Island does exist." and "A Man's dream never dies!" comments. Pg. 14 though gives us a bit of chill as he says "To be patient is not very enjoyable." due to the fact it reminds me of how 'patient' he was waiting to find that one single DF he was after, he was on WB's crew for 20 years to get that dream.
I can't find a mention of BB's name, neither Blackbeard or Teach, during Jaya… its possible that its mentioned, I just can't find it... there was one scene where the crew gathered together and we get info boxes.... but I can't remrember if its in Jaya or after and cant' find it yet.
Hmm I'm trying to find when we find out that Blackbeard's name is Marshall D Teach...
in 434, Shanks meets with Whitebeard and says "your man, Blackbeard Teach, …" and it shows and image of the 'cherry pie man from Jaya" -
Good job Katzztar. Supplementary to your reference:
They are all in volume 25 chapter 234.
When the navy headquarter held a meeting at Mariejois, Laffitte (yes Laffitte!) showed up to recommend their crew to be the candidate for the new Shichibukai to substitute Mr.0/Crocodile. In the end he said "we are the Blackbeard pirates, Please keep that in mind". Probably the first time those big figures heard of the "blackbeard".
At the end of that chapter, the rest 4 of the BB crew had a formal debut. There were their name cards which showed their title, nickname and their real name. That was when "Marshall D Teach" first appeared in the series.
BTW, that chapter was also the chapter in which Tsuru and Sengoku first appeared. Kuma and Doflamingo first appeared briefly at the end of the previous chapter (233). I think 233 was also the one where Mariejois and the Five Elder Stars first showed up, but I'm not sure.
That completes the Blackbeard reference prior to his fight with Ace.

Oops, how could I forget this,
Chapter 234 was also the chapter where Whitebeard's true appearance was first revealed.
also Rockstar LOL.

For some reason it seems that Drum island did not report the incident. Either that or the marines saw no point in labeling a group of pirate having rave a country? I doubt that.

I agree in it seems it wasn't reported. I covered it a bit in my last post but it likely got lost with info on BB.=

As far as the WGs knows, the story is likely to be="5 unidentified pirates attacked, King Wapol abandoned us, and now Dalton is new king".Well the strawhats appeared 2-3 months after the incident. The story would be more"A group of 5 pirates lead by Blackbeard destroyed our country and our king fled." Reaally not the kind of thing the marines/WG would forget to take care of. So I suppose they decided it was better to not report so they could rebuild their country as they like.

He was introduced in Vol.59 Ch.576 but nobody said he was the largest, if you go double check the manga. I don't remember the anime but you know, anime is adapted and modified, some of it are not Oda's plan so don't take anime seriously.

Can it be a robot created in the ancient age?
Possible, Remember Franky burned those blueprints to an ancient weapon? … a ship (believed by many to be a battleship) that was used during the time of the Ancient Kingdom. Then there are those moon automata, (not including the four wingless automata on Karakuri Island ('Spacey Robots')) that were already on the moon when Enel and were created by the ancient inhabitants of the moon.
So most certainly ancient times can produce robots, and judging by on ancient weapon being a ship, I'd say they could possibly do something huge on a mechanical scale. Powering it? We're talking about a world where a kid that eats a shitty tasting fruit has his flesh gain the properties of rubber ... its possible.
But its not likely, since Oda likes really odd stuff. Remember the Treasure Tree Adam (location unknown) and Eve Tree on FI? Or even the the Stomach Baron a species of giant carnivorous seaborne plants that form the chains of "islands" in Boin Archipelago. ect
All are inexplicably odd. So I'm inclined to believe in a millennial old giant elephant that still living
