I liked the whole a free man who doesn't take the freedom of ours thing. Very cool.

in that case,screw your freedom

Well done. This was a good finale to the arc
It weird seeing Luffy again with a short jacket.
@¡Sanji:
man some world news coo's are needed badly here!
I hope we get some world reactions and new bounties shown next chapter.
I can't wait for Luffy to bulk up a little somewhere down the line and maybe look a little like Ace physique-wise. With all that meat he's eating he's bound to at some point right?
Also, people talking about the Rebecca Soldier scene, that surprisingly hit the feels even though it had such a small segment. Hope they go on to live happy lives. Kyros will probably train her more, all these underground dealers who want Riku's head will attack Dressrosa and Fuji isn't always going to be around.

I honestly doubt Oda ever plans to change Luffy's appearance drastically.
Main characters traditionally get a makeover after a time skip. And since Luffy looks completely same after a 2 year skip, any big change in a much shorter time would just be silly.
The biggest difference I noticed is that Luffy's head tends to look smaller than his hat now. :ninja:
I hate it.
Someone is gonna say something like, heh what did they mean with 500 bounty worth??, and then Barto(as always) is gonna be like oh yeah you guys have new bounties.
I'm ready for 100,000,000/berries God Usopp.
The chapter was okay, it handled Luffy's reaction to the concept of getting allies as a Yonkou neatly. But it also really reveals the issues with Dressrosa even further. This chapter would probably have been not just okay or good but fantastic if these were all well fleshed out characters we actually really cared about. As it stands only like 3 of them are, and even among them I don't think the complete 180 of Cavendish has come off as believable at all. I just don't feel convinced by the likes of Ideo and Orlumbus suddenly being presented in this dramatic fashion when they had so little focus during the actual arc.
All because the shitty Riku family and dwarves ate up so much panel time this arc these characters weren't able to be given the attention they should've had to feel convincing in this moment. This moment could have been awesome, instead it's just OK. There's nothing bad about it but it's just not as well written and convincing as One Piece used to be. Dressrosa's problems still linger.
After a re-read there's quite a few things I've missed. Like the irony of what Becca says to Kyros "you, crying again?" That's so rich coming from the greatest Crybaby of all time. The last spread where Law smiles on at first watching the celebrations and then he gets grabbed by Zoro to join on the celebrations and has this annoyed face he makes. Love the tiny details, I'm sure there are more.

Well somewhere down the line could mean 10 years from now, it's sort of in his genetics to become bulkier if Garp and Dragon are anything to go by.
I guess Issho gonna stay at Sengoku's place for now.
I think stressing how big of deal with more people reacting and going apeshit about DD's defeat at the hands of luffy would added more dramatics to the scene of him become leader of a large group.
Now maybe I'm looking too deep into this, but:
You know how one of Usopp's most used lies are his "8000 followers
Now in chapter 800 the strawhats gain followers over 5000 strong. Is there something here?
It's Just showing how Ussop's lies become half truths.
5000 is way low than 8000.
It's Just showing how Ussop's lies become half truths.
That's just what I was getting at.
Didn't know if my connections were a little too lofty though.
Come to think Baby5 can do all Luffy's weaponry-based moves, just with real guns.
Would love to see Gatling Girl.
A great chapter to finish with Dressrosa !
I knew that Luffy wouldn't accept, and it's better that way.
I guess that the fleets will just help Luffy when he'll be fighting off big shots such as Emperors, and the Marine (during the last war).
so they sail on Dressrosa at chapter 700 and they sail out of it at chapter 800. Yup, doing a 100 chapter arc didn't cross Oda's mind, at all.
That's 101 chapters though.
And it's not confirmed that Dressrosa is over yet.
Alright, here is some details that I found out in this Chapter:
"White Horse" Cavendish's ship:
!
Happou Navy's main ship (with a Tiger figurehead):
!
You can see the word "Happou" (Eight Treasure) on it's sail.
Also, many other Chinese looking ships around that must be the their followers.
Corrida the couple:
!
Franky, Usopp, Zoro drink it all !!!
!
Cavendish's Jolly Roger?
!
4TAMARIA? "4" is "Yon" in Japanese, so that means this word is "Yonta Maria". Also the Jolly Roger on the sail.
!
Let me go!!

Not all Straw Hats were fleshed out from the moment they joined, you know. Case in point, Nami and Robin.
Law is a similar case, as when he started the alliance with Luffy (a very important moment), we knew very little about him.
Surely they won't get as much fleshing out, but I'm just saying that we could eventually know why Orlumbus is a made-up explorer, or this New World Central Fighting Tournament Ideo was once part of. We know Hajrudin is set for a big Elbaf role.

Kudos, I would have never thought about any of this. Especially that last picture , it's the first time I've seen Law and Zoro interract for real. That was a cute little easter egg.

Yes but I don't think we'll get more as much development since we won't be seeing them that much in the story (only during big battles, I guess), whereas Nami and Robin are really in the main cast.
I loved the chapter but I didn't feel any emotions (okay maybe a few frills), and I agree with Martine on this one : It's because they didn't get enough attention. Man, I feel like Leo is the character that we've seen the most from… And eventually Bartolomeo.
Ping > Nice things you've found there, this reminds me that I should really pay more attention to the panels.
So here is my detailed opinion of the chapter :
Let me go!!
It's funny to think how Law was always smiling before the time skip and now he's so perpetually grumpy.
@S.C.:

He was smiling on the very page we see Zoro hugging him.
I loved this chapter. Number 800 didn't disappoint!
500m bounty is awesome! It says 5 mil in the translation.. I was like wut -.-
I am very pleased with the way that Luffy and the 7 captains handled the exchange. Luffy being stubborn, them not caring and drinking anyway. Classic Zoro going straight for the booze. Well played, Oda.
Luffy-side doesn't know about the Swirly hats encounter with Big Mom, right? From what I remember no contact was made so they are still in the dark.
Hey guys. Remember that time when Pekoms said Caribou war over 2 billion beris?
That was a very fun chapter. I'm most happy with the solution to the sake cup bonding - it's typical fun, casual Luffy.
An amazing close to a great arc. Certainly a game changer. Now there is so much great story to look forward to. Love Luffy's stubbornness and ideals. I hope we get to see more of Issho down the road.
Whoever thinks that Luffy can't defeat a Yonko after this chapter is delusional
I dunno why people still care about bounties. I mean, they had significance in the beginning of the manga since it meant stronger foes will approach the SHs. But now, they are too notorious that bounties shouldn't matter anymore.
My impression was based on the fact that they were sailing away from it in the final panels and it doesn't seem like Bellamy is one of the characters that went with them.
That we have another storyline happening simultaneously to cut to adds to that.I really hope you're right and we go back and get a couple of pages at least for closure.
In a way, I kind of want to see kyros be a mentor to bellamy.

He had to go Gear Fourth to beat Doflamingo, and even then it was a struggle.
Unless you're saying the entire SHGF will take on the Yonko, but Luffy is the 1v1 fight kind of guy, so that probably won't be the case.

Luffy should not have beat Crocodile nor Enel but did because plot reasons. No reason to think he and Law together with Luffy doing the final attacks. Luffy's gears have improved radically over time as well, who knows how he does with his other forms and his powers will work extremely well with Law's. The few panels snotnose was not involved, they were casually outplaying Doflamingo, and that was with Law barely able to move.
Looking in retrospect, if Luffy was ever going to get a fleet of crews with big captains under his name, it really surprises me it didn't involve the Impel Down group.
If we know this fleet would be a reality in the future, I am pretty sure everyone would be dead certain those guys would be the leaders of it (although it would be hard to come up with an excuse for people like Crocodile to decide to work for Luffy).

The bounty is mentioned in the middle of this page.
The feels intensify when you realize….Kyros was a toy....compared to a human, I would wager you can't feel as well, if anything. The body itself had to be cold wood during the winter…
Oh, you don't need to wager. A big point of Kyros being a toy was not feeling any warmth, like on this joyful scene here.
Being able to feel the human contact and its warmth is supposed to be a big deal for Kyros.
Robin x Franky <3 game, set and match.

The higher the bounty the more likely the strongest of opponents/rivals will take notice of Luffy and his threat. Someone with such growing momentum will need to be taken out at some point, otherwise the road to being PK would be a walk in the park. Who knows at some point Akainu himself might set sail and confront Luffy since no one else can.

My memory was a tad fuzzy on the early Dressrosa parts, thanks!
Random question: has it ever been said that Law wants to be Pirate King? Now that Doflamingo has been taken down what is his goal now? Because being allied with Luffy but also wanting to be Pirate King is a conflict of interest.
I've been trying to find it but can't yet… there is a scene before the timeskip, after the war, Law tells his crew they aren't entering the New World yet. He mentions something along the lines of the title of Pirate King isn't going anywhere, they had tome to prepare. From what he said and the crew said, I got the impression he was after it.. but in thinking back -and failing to find the image - it may have been something else and his crew acted like Ace did = they want to help the captain become pirate king, even when the captain isn't interested in it.

Well yeah, I can't see Crocodile working under Luffy, and Das Bones follows Sir Crocodile.
Buggy has too big of an ego (not to mention Luffy doesn't really like him), Galdino joined Buggy.
Iva-chan was already a Rev and works for Luffy's dad.
And Jinbe… well many are convinced that he will join. Though now with this Grand Fleet, one has to wonder if Jinbe will be official SH or another captain of allied crew (Sun Pirates)
There's no question on whether or not Jinbei will actually join the crew as a member. He already has.
Also, I'm pretty sure Buggy will be helping Luffy at the end of the series. Even if it is in a dickish and reluctant way like at Impel Down.
The dwarfs gonna protect Dressrosa for Luffy, as the Sun Pirates will protect Fishman Island without Jinbe, he will join!

Yup, awesome. Specially the tidbit about the tiger figurehead being the potential Happou Navy ship, considering it's very similar to Chinjao's ship from his youth.
Great, great post.

Aww, after reading that I'll never stop noticing it

It really bothers me how Luffy was able to beat Crocodile, but Enel was a special circumstance. I do think that The Straw Hats + Law and possibly even just Luffy/Law could take on a Yonko, but it would certainly be quite a struggle. Given Doflamingo's fear of Kaido, The level between Doflamingo, and a yonko is pretty big. Who knows? We'll see in time.
Seven generals. Seven seas? What should we call these seven pirate captains? People still talk about sakazuki, was'nt it confirmed as the same as sake cups or not. Blackbeard has titans so …...so seven gods of the seas.... seven blades of the oceans... seven devils...... about law mabe zoro is holding his arm, hurting or causing his arm to hurt where it was sutured 3 to 4 days ago, no doctor to give Nsaids or opioids....
It's here, ch 595.
Thank you! yeah that's the page and I was right… I didn't remember the exact wording!
Law meant the 'treasure' One Piece, not title of Pirate king, wasn't going anywhere.
But then says if there's a position he needs (presumably to get the One Piece) he'll take it. At the time I'd thought he meant PK since he was mentioning the One Piece, but now, one assumes he was referring that he wasn't going to enter the NW yet so he can grab those 100 pirate hearts that he sent to the WG to get the Shichibukai position.

Nice finds, all of them! I had to look again (because I missed that detail!) at the panel of Franky & Usopp joining Zoro in drinking the sake…which is funny since Usopp earlier had slapped Zoro on the side of the head for using his hands instead of getting a cup.
Whoever thinks that Luffy can't defeat a Yonko after this chapter is delusional
He still can't defeat a Yonko.
