If only, if only..
Maybe they could cast a voice actor who can do a good Tim Curry impersonation.

Most of the fanbase hasn't even caught on to it yet, and still believe it's the letter X.
That's what I've always assumed it was. Didn't really pay much attention to how they pronounced it when I watched the sub, so when I heard something besides X as his name during Shakky's run down I was really confused. Good to know that they didn't somehow screw his name up, though.
I feel like straw-hatter would be kind of an acceptable replacement @Chopperrules:
Though Funimation has been keeping laughs and quirks since season 4 (and earlier with the giants I suppose), they also want to be consistent with older episodes. The scenes with Arlong were from Arlong Park so they likely either used the old recordings or redid it exactly the same to fit the new animation.
With old characters appearing in Impel Down and Marineford I do wonder if they'll make some effort to include the laughs or not. Buggy pretty much got his laugh but who knows about Crocodile.
About law's -ya, that's just something that's really weird to translate honestly. I mean Camie's chin works on the ear to me but Law saying "Straw Hat-ya" would be really awkward. Even some fan translations haven't kept it. Not sure if they'll give him some quirk later on or not but I'm fine if they don't.
Also, I had no doubt Marineford would be done, just like with Enies Lobby. We'll see if the dub continues into the time skip but at this point I have no doubts or worries seeing as we already got Film Z.
The man was only showing off his tattoos. Where's the harm in that? It's not like he was a SUPA pervert or anything. Convert!
I agree with you, and I'm not saying it's right, but in Japan, Tattoos are a VERY big no no.
They consider it basically "Has Tattoos = Yakuza"
Add to this the perceived "Indecency" of being to some extent naked in the photos he used to show off his tattoos, and the Japanese police felt justified arresting him. And as soon as a "Moral Panic" like this starts, Toei had to respond and fire him. (Plus, he was in jail, can't Voice act from jail)
I was only joking. Convert!
It looks like the English audio is out of sync on disc one of Season Seven: Voyage One from episode 388 onwards. It's not too bad, but I did find the difference during dialog pretty distracting. It's not the first time something like this has happened either, as episode 85 was even worse off and wasn't even corrected for Collection Four. Did anyone else notice this, and did this effect the streaming versions?
Also "Chicken Voyage" seems to be correct; It's the term used on the DVD subtitles and Franky even says "Chicken Voyage" in Engrish in the Japanese version.
Damn, I was really hoping Duval's voice would be a parody of Sanji's 4Kids voice. Ah well
Amazon got Season 7 voyage 1 for 22.99 right now.
Damn, I was really hoping Duval's voice would be a parody of Sanji's 4Kids voice. Ah well
Nah, it'd be better if they save that for the time skip.

Considering that David Moo is retired and has a bar in New Jersey where I live. Do you really want him to get outta retirement? XD

You know what's weird? I own S7V1, got it for my Birthday, but I haven't even finished S6V4 yet lol
I left off right before the Binks Brew episode. (the one that shows the Rumbar pirates' deaths)

That's me with Apoo's voice. Don't know who it is, but it's GREAT casting!
I stopped watching the Japanese at the very start of Punk Hazard, mostly because of certain bits of filler(not all) and I just feel like enough care does not go into the actual animation. Not to mention I don't hear a Japanese voice actor and automatically equate it to something magical. Not saying any of you do that but I think you all know what I mean. I continue watching the One Piece anime because of the Funimation dub. I love every voice for the crew and I am loving these super nova voices. When I read the comic now I hear the Funi crew and their voices in my head. If not for Funimation's dub I wouldn't watch One Piece at all anymore which is odd because I feel like an even bigger fan than I was 10 years ago.

I feel the same, I personally only watch the dub and read the manga. In fact all the stuff since season 5 and onwards is the first time i've seen these arcs animated. Voyage 2 & 3 are really exciting for me just so I can finally see The Strawhat separation and Hancock.
The Supernovas and Duval are great. Zoro was hilarious in this set as well. I might be the minority on this but I liked Bonney's dub. I also admit I teared up at Hachi and Luffy's scene after he got shot, great stuff all around.

Yeah I'm the same with Hatchi as well. When it originally came out in the manga I teared up a little but when I saw it animated for the first time it didn't do much for me. His Japanese voice never really sat well with me. This time however I tearer up more than when I read it in the books!

Agreed. Can't remember if I already posted my opinion of that scene with Hatchi, but if I did I'm doing it again. XD That has got to be one of the best performances in the entire dub so far. Despite Hatchi being one of my favorite secondary characters, I didn't really feel anything during that scene when I watched the sub, but watching the dub and hearing George's performance got me all teary eyed. He's done a wonderful job voicing Hatchi-chan, and I look forward to hearing more of it later on. I have no doubts that we'll be getting the Fishman Island arc at some point, so I look forward to hearing George as Hatchi during the Fisher Tiger flashback, and during the arc in general.
I just heard the supernovas. The Urouge, X Drake, Killer part confused me a bit, and I had to watch about three times to really differentiate the three voices. Other than that, everyone sounds pretty good.
No news from the con. Darn. That's where they announced season four and five so long ago (it was near on my birthday, so I remember).
It seems like Funimation really isn't going to be making any big One Piece announcements at conventions anymore.
^^^Yup, it seems we're more likely to see announcements made on their blog or the One Piece Podcast nowadays.
Honestly, I'm not sure there's really a need. I mean, confirmation is always nice but at this point, the blog or podcast is pretty sufficient to announce something that we all know is coming anyway.

Because they know that nobody goes to comic con anymore. XD
alright, I don't know how to save the picture, but if you go to the one piece page on the funimation website, you can see the cover of voyage 3, which shows boa hancock and her sisters in snake form while luffy does a gatling move. It looks pretty good.

To make it easier to find.
I assume it's a good thing that they have the cover finished months before the release date.
It really is rather exciting just how close we are to the Marineford arc. It must be insane for Joel, Mike or whoever ends up directing those episodes. I mean so many characters who haven't shown up in ages appear in that arc.

WHO NICE COVER.
Me and my sister Theresa cannot wait to hear the voices of Boa's sisters.
Really curious as to why the new manga volume is now under $5 on Amazon. Wish they'd knock the pricing for the next two (already listed) down, as well.
It's a sale, I think.
It's a sale, I think.
probably is, the first volume of One-Punch Man and the 3rd JoJonium are also pretty cheap right now as well
Thanks! Didn't notice. Grabbed the OPM volume.

I didn't notice this on my copy.

So why hasn't Mike been directing lately? Not that Joel is bad or anything, which he's not at all, but I'm just wondering since One Piece was like Mike's baby for a while. I'd like to see him return for Impel Down and Marineford at least since it brings back so many characters from old arcs.
The beginning of chapter 21 (on Play All) is a good example of the sync issue. At around 1:20:34 you can hear the explosion a split second before you can see, whereas they're much more closely matched on the Japanese audio. Also at 1:21:07 you can hear Sanji practically finishes saying "yeah" before his mouth moves. For the rest of the disc the English audio seems about one syllable off. This affected disc two as well for me, on both PowerDVD and VLC.
Maybe I should just try and get a replacement copy and see if it's just a bad disc, but for a manufacturing error to affect both discs but also not affect the first few episodes on Disc One seems unlikely to me.

They can always make a new one if the original copy is broken?
Nothing wrong with it on the PS3.
I was just rewatching a couple episodes not too long ago…didn't notice any problems audio-wise.
I experienced the same problem. It wasn't too bad but definitely noticeable.
We need a Blu-Ray release and quickly! Come on, funimation?

Funimation does not have the Blu-ray rights to One Piece. Toei 1.) only recently started releasing the show on Blu-ray in Japan, and 2.) is deathly afraid of reverse importation.

Than we need to sue Japan for fears of importation. lol

But if your talking about the anime tv episodes, then yea I haven't seen them on amazon

The TV episodes were what was being referenced. The anime has only started getting bluray releases starting at PH arc. Everything else before has not seen a BD release. And yeah Japan is very wary of reverse importation. It's the reason some Bandai and Sentai Filmworks series had originally seen English only BD releases of some titles (Kurokami and the initial release of Persona 4). You can't blame the companies, any logical person from Japan WOULD import the English release on BD if it was dual language and around $30 cheaper w/ many more eps compared to a Japanese release.
Oh, and it's like $50 for three episodes in Japan, whereas it's like $30 for 12 episodes for us.

Safe to say end of 2016 one piece dubbed will be around Fisherman Island arc?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I remember being mad because I had to switch to subbed. It was around the time Usopp got beat up by the Franky family. So dubbed has come pretty far.
I wouldn't look for fishman island until summer 2017, assuming funimation continues with their trend of releasing new seasons every summer.
Oh, and it's like $50 for three episodes in Japan, whereas it's like $30 for 12 episodes for us.
I think that works the same with the collection sets as well. For us we have to pay about $30 for 24 episodes, while their collection sets are about $40 to $50 dollars for about 16 episodes. (I actually don't really know the log set prices in japan)

Log Collection Fishman Island (the next set that's coming out) is priced at $64.49 with 19 episodes, but that's with a discount. The market price is $87.18.
Then there's Log Collection Noah, which is priced at $89.94 with 19 episodes, and also discounted.
Then the normal 4 episode sets are usually between $35-50.
THAT IS TOO EXPENCIVE. I am so happy that funimation can bring OP to us at a GREAT LOW PRICE.
