Watching through the English dub of One Piece for the first time in ages, and I forgot how much random hilarity there is in the Skypia arc. Zoro telling Nami she should have done the Tarzan yell, Luffy's insistence they be pooped out of the snake once he learns that's what his "cave" actually is. I have missed this show. Now if it just wasn't such a long time before I get back to Brook's introduction!
Good to see the place back! I'm glad you guys took the effort to actually bring forums back, considering how many other forums have been shut down in favor of other services like Discord. I prefer forums like this for chatting with large groups of random people and it's easier to keep track of posts and not miss anything important.
I need to see about getting a pic uploaded again. Don't currently have my usual avatar images handy on this laptop so I'll have to do something about that. Been many years since I was last at Arlong Park so no surprise mine wasn't one of the ones mentioned to have been transferred over.
I mainly look forward to Punk Hazard for the sake of seeing Brook being adorable and playing in the snow. XD Now if they would just release the episode with Brook singing New World. I'd get a new subscription to their site, even though I'm pissed off at them, just to hear the English version of that song.
So very, very close to getting the English dub of the song New World. I really hope they do it proper justice, or I will cry. I want to let them get a bit further along in the released before I get all caught up on the dub, but I think the release of New World will be enough to make me catch up.
Well, I rewatched Strong World after finishing the filler episodes. Watching reminds me that it's impossible for a One Piece film to be better and more representative of the show. And that Shiki's actor's performance is the best we've ever had on the show.
Also, I'm ticked off about the long break. I love these Impel Down episodes. Really don't want to ration them so much.
So don't ration. Watch them, then watch them again, and then watch them yet again. I've watched through the dub three full times, plus watched certain parts a few other times because I like them.
The reason they use the phrase "Oh, come my way" is because that's the name of Bon Clay's song. The one he sings after he first appears in Impel Down. He's not saying his "way" is "Oh, come my way," he's just using the name of his song as his catchphrase.
But it's supposed to be "Okama", which according to the One Piece wiki is Japanese slang for a transvestite or homosexual. Which makes perfect sense considering who Bon Clay is. He seems to see himself as both male and female. So he's supposed to be saying how something is the "Okama way", the way that people like him behave.
I am glad that they weren't afraid to use the word "queer", though. I wondered about that, as the subs seem to use that often, but with the way people get so easily offended anymore, I was afraid they'd use something else in its place that maybe wouldn't make as much sense.
Sad they went with "Diarrhea man" instead of "Shit man" for Magellan's nickname given by the prisoners. They've used the word "shit" a couple times in the past so it's not like it would be out of the question for that word to come up.
Ok, who did the voice of Herecleasn? (is that how it's spelled?) Did Sonny do his voice, or did someone who sounds a lot like Sonny do his voice?

Question: How the mist will effect Chopper and Brook?
Likely will just mean they can't use any of their special powers. Like, Brook won't be able to use Soul Solid or have his soul leave his body, but he'll still be able to move and talk and all that. Chopper maybe will be stuck in whatever form is considered his "default" now. I assume the hybrid form since that's how we see him most.

Of course, Brook in his English explorer's outfit is one big bucket of hype alone.
Brook doing ANYTHING is buckets of hype for me.
It's the same way it was in the simulcast; "Okama Way" and "Okama Kenpo" are "Oh Come My Way" and "Oh Come My Way Kenpo", but he still refers to himself and the people of Kamabakka (and probably the New Kamas, once we get to them) as "queers".
Well since they had something different before but are now using this to be closer to the Viz version, I'm going to assume that's what it is.
Ok, really bummed about that. Was hoping they would stop with that "Oh Come My Way" bullshit by this point. It just doesn't make sense as a phrase.

Ok, finally getting around to watching Amazon Lily. I forgot just HOW much I hate Hancock. Seriously, if Oda were willing to kill off characters, she would be one I would be hoping for more than any other character in the series. Hate that bitch so much.
Their pool has gotten bigger, but i'm not sure what they have will be enough once they get to the New World. I wonder if they'll have to outsource some roles (with direction from Mike of course ) to Bangzoom, NYAV Post etc… It can't be cheap to keep flying out LA and New York actors. I also don't want them to start reusing actors like Justin Cook or Andrew Love. There are some actors with great vocal range(like Sonny), then there are actors while great have limited range. Dr Kureha and Marigold sound to similar for my taste tbh,same with Mr 5 and Akainu. But luckily that hasn't happened alot yet.
Some of their new talent is capable of doing a wide range of voices, so they should be good on that one. I know KaiserNeko of Dragon Ball Z Abridged just said that he's a voice in the latest release, though I don't know yet who he's voiced, and if anybody here has ever watched DBZA, you know the boys behind it are great at doing a wide range of voices. Kaiser is their Trunks, King Kai, Yajirobe, Korin, Burter, and Zarbon. So, if they need a few very different voices for characters, Kaiser can definitely handle it. Takahata has worked with some of the Funi folks as well, so it wouldn't surprise me if he gets cast in One Piece at some point as well.
